(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment and Norfolk County Fire Services were called to a Queenseway West, Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario address.
On Saturday, May 17, 2014 at approximately 4:50 p.m., an alert officer on patrol observed a fully loaded tanker truck parked in the Target Gas Bar parking lot. The officer observed that the truck had a brake fire located at the rear of the tanker which was filled with approximately 54000 litres of fuel.
The officer attempted to extinguish the brake fire using several fire extinguishers in order to prevent it from spreading.
Members of the Norfolk County Fire Department arrived on scene and the brake fire was brought under control by the attending fire fighters. No injuries were reported and the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
