4 More Arrested In Connection With Robbery

(DUNNVILLE, ON) – As a result of an assault that occurred at an establishment in Hamilton on July 4, 2024, four additional arrests have been made and 12 firearms have been seized.

On October 4, 2024, search warrants were executed at three residences in Haldimand County, Brantford and Hamilton by members from:

  • OPP-led Biker Enforcement Unit (BEU)
  • Haldimand/Norfolk OPP Community Street Crime Unit
  • OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit
  • OPP Emergency Response Team
  • Brantford Police Service Emergency Response Team

These warrants led to the arrest of one Hells Angels “hangaround” member and three other individuals. Police seized the following:

  • Six handguns, two of which had no serial number, or the serial number had been tampered with
  • Five rifles
  • One shotgun
  • Two extended magazines
  • A silencer
  • Ammunition

Kody BOYCE, age 38 of Dunnville, has been charged with the following 11 offences contrary to the Criminal Code (CC):

  • Loss of firearm not reported
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon – three counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm – three counts
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Contravention of storage regulations
  • Tamper with serial number
  • Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with readily accessible ammunition

The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on November 26, 2024.

Tiffany CATHCART, age 41 of Dunnville, Kaitlyn COLEMAN-KANE, age 23 of Dunnville, and Justin TAYLOR, age 36 of Dunnville have each been charged with the following 10 offences contrary to the CC:

  • Possession of a prohibited weapon – three counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm – three counts
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Contravention of storage regulations
  • Tamper with serial number
  • Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with readily accessible ammunition

The accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on November 26, 2024.

Marc REAMAN Facing Numerous Charges

(RYERSON TOWNSHIP, ON) – A weapons call results in one person arrested and charged on numerous criminal weapons offence charges.

On October 17, 2024, at approximately 3:30 a.m., the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a weapons call for service at a residence in the Township of Ryerson where a person threatened another person with a firearm.

In addition, at approximately 8:00 p.m., same date, the Almaguin Highlands OPP Crime Unit executed a search warrant where they located and seized numerous firearms and ammunition.

Marc REAMAN, 39-years-old of Burks Falls was arrested and charged with the following:

·      Assault with a weapon

·      Assault cause bodily harm – Choke, suffocate or strangle

·      Utter threats – cause death or bodily harm

·      Carry concealed weapon

·      Unauthorized possession of a firearm

·      Unauthorized possession of a weapon

·      Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition

·      Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm – four counts

·      Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo – two counts

·      Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

·      Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – One individual was taken into custody after a suspicious vehicle was reported.

 On September 28, 2024, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint on Lock Street, Dunnville.

 The vehicle was located, and a traffic stop was initiated.

 As a result of the investigation, 19-year-old William SOJOURNER from Ohio is facing the following charges:

  • Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammo

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on today’s date.

Drug & Weapons Bust

(TECUMSEH, ON) – Two individuals are facing numerous firearm and drug-related charges after a search warrant was executed in Tecumseh.

In July 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) began an investigation into the trafficking of cocaine and opioids in Essex County. On September 24, 2024, a search warrant was executed in Tecumseh by OPP OCEB and Essex County OPP Community Street Crime Unit.

As a result of this investigation, officers seized:

  • four handguns, one of which was loaded  
  • a conducted energy weapon
  • suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $20,000
  • approximately 5,700 oxycodone tablets
  • $120,000 in Canadian currency

Refaat FARRIS, age 47 of Tecumseh, has been charged with the following 30 offences under the Criminal Code (CC) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA):

  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order – four counts
  • Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition – four counts
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose – four counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm – four counts

Weapons Bust – Names Released

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged three individuals with firearms offenses in Gravenhurst.

On September 18, 2024, the Muskoka Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and Bracebridge OPP officers, with the support of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) and OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a search warrant at a residence located on Ure Road in Gravenhurst. During the execution of the warrant, officers located a loaded firearm and have subsequently arrested and charged 55-year-old Tawnya MCKNIGHT and 45-year-old Aaron QUINN, both of Gravenhurst, each with the following:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm CC 91(1)
  • Careless Storage of Firearm CC 86(1)
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm CC 95(1)

They will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on November 5, 2024 to answer to their charges.

Police have also charged 25-year-old Nathan WHITE of North York with the following:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm CC 91(1)
  • Careless Storage of Firearm CC 86(1)
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm CC 95(1)
  • Obstruct Peace Officer CC 129(a)

He was held in custody and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge later today, September 19, 2024, for a bail hearing.

Drug & Weapons Bust – Names Released

(COLLINGWOOD, ON) – Members of the Collingwood and Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) have seized cocaine, fentanyl, a loaded handgun, and arrested and charged four people in relation to the execution of a search warrant in the early morning of September 12, 2024.

An investigation into trafficking of cocaine and fentanyl in the Collingwood area was commenced during the summer of 2024 by Collingwood and Blue Mountains OPP CSCU. As a result of the investigation, a search warrant was obtained for a residence on Katherine St, Collingwood. With the assistance of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Huronia West Detachment CSCU, OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) and OPP Canine the warrant was executed at about 3:00am on September 12, 2024.

Police arrested five accused inside of the residence. Police also seized a loaded handgun, over 5.5 ounces of cocaine, 26 grams of fentanyl, 7 grams of psilocybin, three expandable batons, other evidence of drug trafficking including $855 Canadian currency.

As a result of the investigation, the following persons have been charged with the following offences:

Christopher SABEAN, 48 years of age, of Collingwood has been charged with:

·      Possession of Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

·      Possession of Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl

·      knowledge of unauthorised possession of a firearm

·      Possession of a loaded Firearm

·      Possession of Firearm knowing Serial Number has been Tampered With

·      Unauthorised possession of a Firearm

·      Possession of Prohibited ammunition or device – two counts

·      Possession of Firearm contrary to Prohibition Order

·      Failure to comply with Release Order

The accused was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie.

Jennifer McINTYRE, 32 years of age, of Collingwood has been charged with:

Drug & Weapons Bust – Names Released

(LEAMINGTON, ON) – On September 11, 2024, at approximately 12:06 a.m., a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Leamington Detachment was on patrol on Russell Street in the Municipality of Leamington and observed a suspicious vehicle with the engine running and two individuals appeared to be asleep inside.

The officer approached the vehicle and observed open alcohol and attempted the awake the occupants of the vehicle.

Weapons Bust

(BATCHEWANA FIRST NATION, ON)- Police locate loaded Glock 17 handgun during a traffic stop.

On September 4, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Batchewana First Nation Police Service were on patrol duties in the community of Batchewana First Nation.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., police observed a black SUV travelling westbound on Negenaigoching Street with three individuals in it. A traffic stop was initiated, and a query revealed the rear passenger was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Police arrested the three individuals. A large sum of Canadian currency, a small amount of cannabis marihuana and two knife ends were located on the rear passenger’s person. Police observed in plain sight a loaded handgun with a high-capacity magazine between the two rear passenger seats of the SUV.

Assisting with the investigation was the Sault Ste Marie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit.

As a result, Shaqwan, KAWANO, 29 years-of-age from Kingston was charged with: 

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo

3 Arrested After Warrant Execution

(GREY BRUCE, ON) – Three more individuals are facing charges following an investigation into the rash of property crime occurring in the Municipality of Meaford and the execution of a search warrant at a residence by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Grey Bruce Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU).

On July 25, 2024, at 3:28 p.m., members of the Grey Bruce CSCU executed a search warrant at a residence on Marshall Street in the Municipality of Meaford.

During the search officers discovered two firearms, a 22-calibre rifle, a pellet gun, kitchen appliances and three bicycles. Total estimated value of seized items is approximately $22,000.

43-year-old Christopher Bikker of Meaford was charged at that time.

Through further investigation three individuals were arrested and charged.

Charged with the following offences is 36-year-old Nicole Swann of Meaford is:

  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime under (five counts)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 (two counts)
  • Breach of Firearms Regulation – Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm

Jacob MASSECAR – Drunk Driving, Firearm, Etc.

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual was charged following an investigation into an impaired driving incident in Simcoe.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024, an officer from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment was on patrol when a vehicle near the intersection of Queen Street North and Queensway West in Simcoe, Norfolk County, drew their attention.

After stopping the vehicle and conducting a roadside sobriety test, the driver was taken into custody without incident.

During a search of the vehicle, a replica firearm was discovered and seized.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 19-year-old Jacob MASSECAR of Norfolk County:

  • Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt,
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero,
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.

Two Arrested – Names Released

(PENETANGUISHENE, ON) – A report at approximately 11:57 p.m. July 4, 2024 to the OPP Communications Centre of suspicious persons in the area of the Penetanguishene Town dock and boat launch followed by calls of persons attempting to break into vehicles in the same area resulted in officers from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment to respond and upon attending, two suspects fled the area on foot and bicycle.

A number of officers patrolled the area locating the suspects wearing balaclavas and made arrests on Shanahan Lane and another on Beck Boulevard. During the officers investigation prior to the arrests, located an aerosol can containing a noxious substance and during the arrests a replica pistol was seized.

Charged in connection to this investigation are the following persons.

Ethan VIDLER 18 years of Penetanguishene has been charged criminally with the following offences.

  • Disguise with Intent
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Escape lawful custody

And further with

  • Being intoxicated in public place contrary to the Liquor Licence and Control Act

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on August 15, 2024.

A 14 year old young person of Strong Township has been also charged with the following criminal offences.

  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Disguise with Intent
  • Escape lawful custody
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Failure to comply with undertaking

The accused who cannot be identified because of the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act was held for a bail hearing and will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice  at a future date.

Drug & Weapons Bust

(PEMBROKE, ON) – Four individuals are facing drug and weapons-related charges after a traffic stop in the City of Pembroke.

On the afternoon of June 21, 2024, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with the assistance of patrol officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the OPP conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Hunter Street in Pembroke.

Brass knuckles and a quantity of suspected cocaine were seized by police. Three occupants of the vehicle were arrested without incident  A fourth individual was arrested after a foot chase and an officer sustained minor injuries after being assaulted.   

As a result of the investigation 33-year-old Tyler GODERRE of Pembroke, 20-year-old Patricia GOULET-COUSINEAU of Pembroke, 31-year-old Kyle JONES of Pembroke, and 30-year-old Terry TURCOTTE of Pembroke have each been charged with the following Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and Criminal Code (CC) offences:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Possession of a prohibited device

TURCOTTE faces the following additional CC charges:

  • Assault a peace officer
  • Resist a peace officer
  • Fail to comply with a probation order – two counts

GODERRE faces the following additional CC charge:

  • Obstruct peace officer

JONES faces the following additional Highway Traffic Act (HTA) charge:

  • Driving under licence of another jurisdiction while suspended in Ontario

TURCOTTE was held for bail hearing and remains in custody until his next court appearance on June 28, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke. GODERRE was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on July 29, 2024. JONES and GOULET-COUSINEAU were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on July 30, 2024.

Dwayne EDWARDS Arrested After Foot Pursuit

(MOOSONEE, ON) – An arrest made on an existing warrant, led to further charges.

On June 11, 2024, shortly before 8:00 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting general patrol on Moose Drive in the town of Moosonee, when an officer observed a person known to have an active arrest warrant.

When the officer advised the person they were under arrest, the person then began to flee the area on a pedal bike. The officer then commenced a short foot pursuit and arrested the individual.

During a search incident to arrest, police located a pellet gun.

As a result of the investigation, Dwayne EDWARDS, 40 years of age of Moosonee, was charged with the following:

  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • Obstruct peace officer
  • Resist peace officer
  • Failure to comply with release order
  • Disguise with intent
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of illicit cannabis
  • Failure to attend court while on release order

The accused remains in custody and is next scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on June 14, 2024.

Christopher COMMANDA Arrested Again

(WEST NIPISSINGON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged one person with a weapon offence.

On May 4, 2024, shortly after 3:00 a.m., Nipissing West OPP observed a known wanted person, walking on King Street, West Nipissing.

Police arrested the individual for an outstanding warrant, who was currently on conditions not to carry any weapons and police seized two knives from that individual.

As a result of the investigation, Christopher COMMANDA, 24 years-of-age from West Nipissing, was charged with, carrying concealed weapon and failure to comply with release order.

The accused was held for Bail Court, then released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 6, 2024, in West Nipissing.
