Glen CAMPBELL – Theft, Etc.

(WAWA, ON) – Superior East Wawa Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charge driver of stolen vehicle with multiple offences.

On November 20, 2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m. police were advised of a stolen truck and trailer in the Town of Wawa. Several more calls were received that a truck and trailer had crashed into a residence on Toronto Ave. OPP arrived at the scene a short time afterwards and arrested the driver. It was also learned that another house and hydro pole had been struck on the same street.Wawa Ambulance and Fire also assisted, and the driver was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

Glen CAMPBELL, 40-years-old from Thunder Bay was charged with:

·        Theft of a motor vehicle

·        Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

·        Theft over $5000

·        Mischief over $5000 – three counts

·        Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

·        Take motor vehicle without consent

·        Careless driving – three counts

·        Driving under suspension – three counts

·        Drive motor vehicle with no licence

The accused was held in custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Sault Ste Marie Bail Court on November 21, 2024.

Giuseppe ABATECOLA – Theft

(NIPIGON, ON) – 63-year-old male has been arrested for theft and possession of stolen property from a local construction site.

On November 18, 2024, members from the Nipigon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of stolen equipment and tools from the Taranis Construction site located in Lyon Township. After further investigation, officers with assistance from the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) executed a search warrant at a residence in Red Rock, ON on November 19, 2024.

As a result, Giuseppe ABATECOLA, 63-years-old of Red Rock was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with

  • Theft Over $5000.00
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000.00

He was released from custody and scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Nipigon.

Paul HENSMAN – Theft & Fraud

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual has been charged in connection with a fraud investigation in Simcoe.

At approximately 3:07 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2024, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to a fraud-related incident on Queensway East in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

It was determined that an individual entered a business, ordered consumable goods, and refused to pay after consuming them.

Officers located the individual on the premises and took them into custody without incident. During the arrest, it was determined that a bicycle in the individual’s possession had been reported stolen earlier that day, around 10:53 a.m., from another address on Queensway East.

31-year-old Paul HENSMAN of Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offences:

  • Food and lodging fraud,
  • Theft under $5,000.

The accused has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.

Navdeep CHAUDHARY Was Arrested For Theft

(ALLISTON, ON) – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged an individual after a report of a shop lift at a local grocery store.

On November 11, 2024, at approximately 6:41 p.m., police responded to a report of a shoplifter at a local Alliston grocery store.

Officers located the individual exiting with the stolen property from the store, along with keys to a stolen vehicle in the parking lot. The accused was then arrested.

As a result, 22-year-old Navdeep CHAUDHARY, of Waterloo has been charged with:

·      Theft Under $5000 – shoplifting

·      Possession Property Obtained by Crime over $5000

Lisa GRAHAM From Mount Forest Arrested For Theft

(WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – Wellington County OPP received a report of a stolen vehicle and shortly locate the suspect, placing them into custody and recovering the stolen vehicle.

On November 14, 2024, just before 4:30 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol within Mount Forest when a report came in of a recent stolen vehicle.

As a result of the investigation and swift actions by uniformed members, Lisa GRAHAM, 28-year-old from Mount Forest, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with the following:

  • Theft of Motor Vehicle
  • Driving while under suspension

The accused has been held in custody, pending a bail hearing.

Joseph CONNELL – Theft, Hit & Run

(TOWNSHIP OF ALNWICK-HALDIMAND, ON) – Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested an individual following a report of a stolen vehicle.

On November 5, 2024, shortly after 4:00 p.m., police responded to a report of a theft of a motor vehicle from a business premises off County Road 2 in Grafton. At around the same time, police received reports of a single vehicle collision which had occurred earlier on Highway 401 near Lyle Street. The driver failed to remain on scene and fled on foot. It is believed an unknowing member of the public, provided the accused with a lift to Grafton where the passenger vehicle was stolen.

A description of the vehicle was given to OPP along with a direction of travel. An officer then observed the vehicle westbound on County Road 2 and it failed to stop for police.

Shortly after, OPP observed the same vehicle involved in a single vehicle collision in the area of County Road 2 and Normar Road in Cobourg. Again, the driver fled on foot and attempted to hide nearby. The individual was soon located, arrested and taken into custody. There were no injuries reported and no other vehicles were involved.

As a result, Joseph CONNELL, 34-years-old, from Curve Lake, has been charged with:

–       Theft of a motor vehicle

–       Flight from peace officer

–       Fail to remain – two counts.

The accused was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered – 4 Arrested

(HAWKESBURY, ON) – The Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has made four arrests following the recovery of a stolen vehicle.

On November 5, 2024, at approximately 4:25 am, officers located and stopped a stolen vehicle headed eastbound on Highway 417 in Champlain Township.

As a result, 23-year-old Kane ABDOULAYE of Montreal, 20-year-old Marc Tony CADET of Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, and 18-year-old Delmarkson ROD of Longueuil were arrested and charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada:

  • Possessing automobile master key
  • Possession break in instruments

The three males were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court on November 27, 2024 at the L’Orignal Court of Justice. 

A 17-year-old male from Montreal was also arrested and charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and Highway Traffic Act (his identity protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act):

  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Possession property obtained by crime over $5000 – in Canada
  • Drive motor vehicle – no license

The youth was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on November 28, 2024 at the L’Orignal Court of Justice.

3 Arrested – Stolen Vehicle Recovered

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – On 3 November 2024, at approximately 1:19pm, officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of a Theft of gas from a business on Highway 102.

Officers located and stopped the vehicle, a black 2019 Ford Mustang GT. The driver provided false information of their identity. Investigation found the vehicle had been stolen from Winnipeg, Manitoba. A quantity of suspected controlled substance was also located in the vehicle.

D SINGH DAMANJEET, 30 of Winnipeg Manitoba is charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act 4(1).
  • HTA 32(1) Drive motor vehicle – no licence contrary to the Highway Traffic Act 4(1)
  • HTA 106(2) Driver – fail to properly wear seat belt contrary to the Highway Traffic Act 106(2)
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code 354(1)(a)
  • Personation with Intent (Identity Fraud) contrary to the Criminal Code 403(1)
  • Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code 334(b)

A SINGH KUSHWANT, 31 of Winnipeg Manitoba is charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act 4(1).

Sanket SINGLA, 21 of Winnipeg Manitoba is charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act 4(1).

All have been released to a future court date in Thunder Bay.

Kaley LEWIS – Theft

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one individual with theft following an incident in the City of Dryden.

On November 4, 2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m. officers responded to a call for service at a local business in the City of Dryden.

As a result of the investigation, Kaley LEWIS, 46-year-old of Dryden has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences: 

·        Adult Theft Under $500 – Shoplifting

The accused has been held in custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice November 5, 2024.

Matthew McCrae – Theft, Etc.

(Sydenham, ON) – An extensive investigation in October 2024, has recovered property reported stolen from several residences and businesses in the City of Kingston.

Members of the East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) located a stolen 2023 Ford F-150 Tremor, a 2021 Kia Seltos, and an enclosed utility trailer on a property located off Sumac Road, in South Frontenac Township. Other items included clothing and hand tools that are still in the packaging. As a result of the investigation, an arrest has been made.

Matthew McCrae, aged 35, from Ottawa has been charged with:

·      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000. 3 counts

·      Theft of a Motor Vehicle.

·      Theft over $5000.

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance.

·      Drive while Prohibited.

McCrae remained in custody for a bail hearing and is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, in Kingston in December 2024.

Shane RIOPELLE – Theft, Trafficking

(NORTH GRENVILLE, ON) -Thefts of rental trailers in North Grenville and Smiths Falls have led to drug trafficking charges against a resident of Gatineau.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit had begun investigating the theft of utility trailers in the area on October 21 and 25. These were connected to thefts of similar trailers October 27 and 28 in Smiths Falls.

Working with the Smiths Falls Police Service and Gatineau Police, a suspect was identified, and on October 29, 2024, the OPP Street Crime Unit made an arrest at a location on Rideau Street in Ottawa.

Officers seized nearly 30-grams of suspected fentanyl and almost two grams of suspected crack cocaine.

Shane RIOPELLE, age 43 of Gatineau, has been charge with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
  • Theft over $5000

The accused was released from OPP custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on November 15, 2024.

The individual was then turned over to the custody of Smiths Falls Police and was held for a bail hearing.

Justin HUNT – Was Arrested

(PEMBROKE, ON) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges following a complaint of an individual failing to pay for their meal at a downtown Pembroke restaurant. 

On the evening of October 25, 2024, UOV OPP officers responded to a restaurant on Pembroke Street West after a report of a customer who was attempting to leave without paying their bill. 

Officers attended and charged 29-year-old Justin HUNT of no fixed address with one count of food and lodging fraud under the Criminal Code (CC). The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on November 26, 2024.

2 Arrested After Stolen Vehicle Involved In Collision

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – A collision investigation related to a stolen vehicle has led to charges against two individuals.

At approximately 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment, along with the West Region OPP Emergency Response Team and the West Region OPP Canine Unit, responded to a single-vehicle collision on Concession 2 Townsend in Norfolk County.

A sedan, confirmed to have been stolen from an address in Brantford, Ontario, reportedly veered off the road and came to rest in a field, after which one of the occupants fled the scene on foot.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers located a passenger inside the vehicle and took them into custody without incident. The individual was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Subsequently, officers found the second suspect a short distance from the collision site. After a brief interaction, they were taken into custody. During the arrest, an officer was physically assaulted, though no injuries were reported. This suspect was also transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Charged with the following alleged offence is 28-year-old Julian CISZEWSKI of Burlington, Ontario:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, December 3, 2024.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 49-year-old Charles BEAMISH of Norfolk County:

  • Assault a Peace Officer,
  • Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm (three counts),
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order,
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The accused has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.

$95,000 In Silver Allegedly Stolen

(MEAFORD, ON) – On October 23, 2024, at 1:37 p.m., the Grey Bruce OPP responded to a report of a theft from a residence in the Municipality of Meaford.

As a result of the investigation, the Grey Bruce OPP learned that over the span of two years, approximately $95,992.00 of silver bars were stolen from the victims residence.

(MUNICIPALITY OF TRENT HILLS, ON) – Members the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a person following an incident of theft.

On September 21, 2024, at approximately 11:55 a.m., police received a report in relation to theft of items from a business on Front Street in Campbellford.

As a result of investigative avenues and assistance from the public, an individual has identified been arrested.

Katherine MCNEIL (age 37) from Peterborough, has been charged with:

–      Theft under $5,000 – shoplifting.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.
