Shots Fired During Robbery – 3 Sent To Hospital

Brantford police are actively investigating a robbery and shooting that has injured three people and are advising the public that there is currently a heavy police presence in the downtown core as the investigation continues.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 22, 2025, police responded to a report of a robbery in progress, where two victims had been shot and a third victim assaulted. The incident occurred in the area of Colborne Street and Alfred Street.

Officers responded and located three victims who sustained serious injuries. The victims have been transported to hospital for treatment and are in stable condition at the time of this report.

One male suspect was quickly located by officers and is now in police custody. 

Officers are actively searching the area for the outstanding suspect(s) and ask the public to stay away from the immediate area unless absolutely necessary. BPS K9 Unit is assisting in the search. Additional suspect information is not available at this time.

As it is early in the investigation, more information will be released once available.

Shots Fired Into Residence – Suspects At Large

Waterloo Region, Ontario  Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a shooting incident in Kitchener.

On January 9, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., police responded to reports of property damage at a residence in the area of Howe Drive and Ottawa Street South.

Several holes were located on the side of the home. Through investigation, it was determined that the holes were caused by bullets.

Investigators believe that the shots that damaged the residence were fired around 3:30 a.m. on January 9, 2025. The residence was occupied at the time, but no physical injuries were sustained.

The investigation remains ongoing by WRPS’ General Investigations Unit, and there will be an increased police presence in the area throughout the day.

Shots Fired

Police are appealing for witnesses after a late-night shooting on Thursday in Ajax.

On Thursday, December 19, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., members of West Division responded to the area of Wilsongary Circle and Gavin Lane for reports of gunshots.

Officers arrived on scene and located multiple shell casings in the area. One residence has been located with bullet holes. 

There have been no physical injuries reported at this time. 

The investigation remains ongoing, and police are appealing to any witnesses or anyone with video footage to please contact police.

Shots Fired – 2 Arrested

(WALPOLE ISLAND) – Two people are facing charges following an incident on Walpole Island First Nation.

The investigation began on December 19, 2024, at approximately 5:00 p.m., when members of Walpole Island First Nation Police (WIFNP) and the Lambton Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of gunfire during an altercation at an address on River Road. 

Police took two individuals into custody without incident.

There were no injuries.

Colton ALTIMAN, 29-years-old of Walpole Island First Nation, is charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

 Jesse WILLIAMS, 35-years-old of Walpole Island First Nation, is charged with the following offences:

  • Careless Use of a Firearm -Section 86(1) of the Criminal Code
  • Reckless Discharge of a Firearm – Section 244.2(1)(b) of the Criminal Code
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm – Section 91(1) of the Criminal Code

Both individuals remain in custody and will appear in bail court at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on December 24, 2024.

Shots Fired – 2 Arrested

Two Brantford men have been arrested and two firearms seized after a search warrant was executed at a Sheridan Street residence, December 18, 2024.

Officers with the Brantford police received a report of an assault involving a firearm that occurred on Sunday, December 15, 2024. The Brantford Police Service Drug and Firearm Enforcement Unit and BPS Major Crime launched an investigation. 

On December 18, 2024, at approximately 3:34 p.m., with the assistance of the BPS Emergency Response Team and the BPS Ident Unit, a search warrant was executed at the Sheridan Street home.

As a result, two firearms were located and seized. Two men, ages 40 and 41 from Brantford, both who were found in violation of firearms prohibitions, were arrested and stand charged as follows:

The 40-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:

  • Assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Point firearm
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Possession contrary to order

And the 41-year-old man from Brantford stands charged with the following Criminal Code violations:

  • Assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Point firearm
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Possession contrary to order x 2

Fatal Drive By Shooting

The Toronto Police Service is making the public aware of a Homicide investigation.

On Thursday, December 19, 2024, at approximately 12:13 a.m., police responded to a call for a Shooting that occurred at the intersection of Eglinton Avenue East and Markham Road.

It is reported that:

  • the victim was walking in the area when he was shot by suspect(s) that were travelling in a vehicle
  • officers arrived on scene and located the male victim who had been shot
  • life-saving measures were performed, and the victim was transported to hospital by paramedics
  • the victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital

The victim has been identified as Adam Christopher Moncrieffe, 34, of Toronto.

Shots Fired Into Child’s Bedroom

Police are investigating after shots fired Wednesday morning in Oshawa.

On Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at approximately 2:05 a.m., members of Central East Division responded to the area of Mary Street North and Taunton Road East after receiving a call for the sound of gunshots. 

Officers arrived on scene and located a number of shell casings in the area. At this time, there have been no physical injuries reported. 

A large canvass was conducted and multiple residences were located that had been shot. Residents were home at the time of the shooting and the bullets entered their homes, severely compromising their safety. Of note, a bullet was located in a child’s bedroom beneath their bed. The child was not home at the time and is uninjured.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with video footage to please contact police.

Police investigating shots-fired incident in East Windsor

The Windsor Police Service is investigating after multiple shots were fired at a residence in East Windsor.

On December 16, 2024, just before 4:00 a.m., surveillance video captured a suspect on a black pocket bike approaching a residence in the 2000 block of Jefferson Blvd. and firing multiple shots into the home. The suspect then fled westbound on Empress St.

No physical injuries were reported as a result of this incident. A preliminary investigation has determined that this was a targeted shooting.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit are asking residents and businesses in the area to check any surveillance or dashcam footage for potential video evidence, particularly between 3:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. on December 16.

Numerous Shots Fired

On Monday, December 16, 2024, at approximately 3 a.m., members of North Division responded to the area of Peace Street and Davidson Street in Cannington for an armed person.

Officers arrived on scene and were able to review video footage which captured the sound of gunshots. A series of six shots is heard, and then another nine following a brief pause.

A scene has since been located and shell casings recovered. Police believe this to be an isolated incident.

Investigators are appealing to any witnesses or anyone with video footage to please come forward to police.

Shots Fired – One Dead

(WAWA, ON) – One person has died, and a second person has been transported to hospital with serious injuries following a shooting in Wawa.

On December 12, 2024, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a shooting incident at a local business on Mission Road in Wawa.

One person has been transported to hospital with serious injuries and a second individual, believed to be the suspect, was located deceased.

There is no threat to public safety or local schools.

The Superior East OPP is conducting the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch with assistance by the Superior East OPP Crime Unit, the OPP Forensic Identification Services, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

Matthew RAGHUNATH After Shot(s) Fired

(PETAWAWA, ON) – A local resident is facing serious Criminal Code (CC) charges after an investigation in the Town of Petawawa.

Members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began investigating on November 18, 2024. A Petawawa resident reported returning home to their apartment to find that a gun shot had been fired through a wall shared with an adjacent apartment. At the time of the incident the victim’s apartment was unoccupied and no one was injured. During the course of the investigation police seized several firearms and ammunition.  

As a result of this investigation 23-year-old Matthew RAGHUNATH of Petawawa has been charged with the following CC offences:

·        Discharge a firearm into or at a place in a reckless manner

·        Mischief under $5000

·        Mischief – interfere with any person in the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property under $5000

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on December 30, 2024.

Shots Fired – Berardus VAN ZON Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual facing several firearm-related charges following an investigation into a report of a firearm being discharged in an unsafe manner.

At approximately 9:07 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment investigated a report of gunshots on a property located on Norfolk County Road 57 in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

It was determined that an individual living on the property had fired a firearm without having the required licence. No injuries were reported.

As a result, the individual was taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 65-year-old Berardus VAN ZON of Norfolk County:

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm,
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose,
  • Careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition,
  • Carless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on Tuesday, July 16, 2024.

Shots Fired – One Sent To Hospital #Anarchy

(Ramara, ON) – Members of Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police and Rama Police Service attended an address on Fish Sideroad following reports of shots being fired at a residence.

On April 15, 2024 at approximately 4:45 am Orillia OPP were dispatched to a weapons call, following reports of gunfire at a residence. Upon arrival at the scene, police located an individual with injuries, who was transported by Simcoe County Paramedics to a local hospital. Members of the Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Canine conducted a search of the area.  Members of the Orillia Detachment Crime Unit have taken over the investigation and are being assisted by OPP Forensic Identification Services.  Residents were asked to remain in their residences and lock their doors during the incident while police searched the area for the suspect(s), which was concluded around 7:10 am. No suspect(s) were located. 

Police are requesting anyone who witnessed anything suspicious or have surveillance in the area between 3:00 am and 6:00 am are requested to review their footage and contact Orillia OPP or Crime Stoppers.

Shots Fired – Suspect(s) At Large

The Brantford Police Service are investigating a report of gunshots fired earlier this evening outside a Butcher Crescent residence.

On Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at approximately 4:20 p.m., a 9-1-1 call was received by the Brantford Police Service to report possible gunfire outside a residence located on Butcher Crescent.

Officers attended to investigate and have obtained a photograph of a suspect vehicle believed to be involved in the incident. Anyone with information that could help to identify the suspect(s) are asked to contact police. 

SUSPECT VEHICLE: The suspect vehicle is described as: a grey, 4-door SUV as shown in the image below.

No physical injuries occurred, area roads remain open, and there is no immediate threat to public safety as a result of the incident.
