35 Year Old Arrested After Collision With Tree – Name Released

(BROCKTON, ON) – On December 13, 2024, at approximately 11:53 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a motor vehicle collision along Bruce Road 20, Municipality of Brockton.

On arrival, officers located a single vehicle into a tree. Police approached the vehicle and spoke with the driver.

As a result, Joel AUBREY, 35-years-old, of Saugeen Shores was charged with:

  • Refusal to comply with demand, CC 320.15(1)

The accused is set to appear in the Walkerton Court of Justice on January 8, 2025.

Julien COUTU Was Arrested

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – One person was arrested and charged with impaired driving after a motor vehicle was found in the ditch in Temiskaming Shores.

On December 6, 2024, at approximately 11:45 p.m., the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to a vehicle in the ditch on Peters Road. The driver was arrested after refusing to provide a breath sample as required by law.

Julien COUTU, 24 years-of-age, from New Liskeard, was charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Disobey stop sign – fail to stop
  • Possess more than one licence
  • Fail to have insurance card

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on January 7, 2025.

In addition, the accused received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Alain THERRIAULT Was Arrested

(COCHRANE, ON) – A routine traffic stop by the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) resulted in impaired driving and weapons-related charges early Sunday morning.

On December 8, 2024, at approximately 1:30 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Ninth Avenue in Cochrane. During the interaction, officers determined the driver had consumed alcohol. The driver was arrested, and a search incident to arrest revealed a prohibited weapon (brass knuckles) and a small quantity of oxycodone.  

During the investigation, the driver refused to provide a breath sample as required by law at detachment. As a result, Alain THERRIAULT, 34 years of age, of Cochrane, has been charged with:

ยท        Failure or refusal to comply with demand

ยท        Possession of imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose

ยท        Unauthorized possession of a weapon

ยท        Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited weapon

ยท        Possession of a schedule I substance – oxycodone

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on January 28, 2025, in Cochrane.

In addition, the accused received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Hannah MORRIS Was Arrested

(ARRAN-ELDERSLIE, ON) – On November 24, 2024, at approximately 3:51 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a motor vehicle collision along Bruce Road 11, Municipality of Arran-Elderslie.

On arrival, officers located a single vehicle in the ditch. The investigating officer detected signs of impairment from the driver. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the South Bruce OPP detachment.

Hannah MORRIS, 35-years-old, of Arran-Elderslie was charged with:

  • Refusal to comply with demand, CC 320.15(1)
  • Dangerous Operation, CC 320.13(1)

The accused is set to appear in the Walkerton Court of Justice on December 11, 2024.

Baden BOUCK Was Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual was charged following an interaction with police officers on Hillcrest Road.

At approximately 11:58 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program near Hillcrest Road and St. John’s Road West in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

During the operation, a vehicle was stopped, and the driver was assessed for sobriety.

As a result, the driver was taken into custody without incident.

36-year-old Baden BOUCK of Norfolk County has been charged with the following alleged offence:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.

Kyle SYMONS Was Arrested

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – Driver charged as a result of a traffic stop in Southwest Middlesex.

On November 17, 2024, at 4:42 p.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) performed a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling on Melbourne Road in the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.

As a result, Kyle SYMONS, a 31-year-old of Strathroy-Caradoc, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

ยท      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on January 16, 2025.

Glenn CHADBAND Was Arrested

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with multiple offences following a complaint from a member of the public.

On November 9, 2024, at approximately 2:05 p.m., OPP received a 9-1-1 call regarding a passenger vehicle travelling north on County Road 45 in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand. The caller advised the vehicle was swerving and unable to maintain its lane.

Officers stopped the described vehicle on County Road 35 in the Municipality of Trent Hills. Through investigation, the driver was found to be suspended from driving and subsequently placed under arrest. Police made an Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand which was not complied with by the accused. Cannabis and unmarked cigarettes were also located as a result of the incident.

Glenn CHADBAND, 41-years-old, from Campbellford, has been charged with:

–       Failure of refusal to comply with demand

–       Driving while under suspension

–       Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

–       Possess unmarked cigarettes.

In addition to a future court date, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.

Nathon HOOKIMAWILLELLENE Was Arrested

(COCHRANE, ON) – A traffic stop for stunt driving led to an impaired driving arrest.

On November 1, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting traffic patrol in the town of Cochrane, when an officer observed a vehicle travelling at 105 km/hr in a posted 60 km/hr zone on Concession Road 2&3.

The vehicle was stopped in a commercial parking lot on Western Avenue. It was determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol, and the officer then made a breath demand into an Approved Screening Device (ASD) of which the driver failed to comply.

As a result of the investigation, Nathon HOOKIMAWILLELLENE, 39 years of age of Cochrane, was charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on December 10, 2024, in Cochrane. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days. A refusal charge carries with it the same penalties as impaired driving, which if convicted, may include fines, imprisonment, and a further licence suspension of at least one year.

Cody BIRKMYRE Was Arrested

(Armour Township, ON) – A traffic stop in Armour Township results in stunt driving and refusal charge.

On October 27, 2024, at approximately 3:30 a.m., the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 11, Armour Township after observing a vehicle travelling at 41 kilometers over the posted speed limit.

Upon speaking with the driver, police determined they had consumed alcoholic beverage. The driver was arrested and transported to a nearby detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Cody BIRKMYRE, 30 years of age of Port Colborne, was charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Stunt Driving – Excessive Speed
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
  • Driving motor vehicle with cannabis readily available

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on November 14, 2024, in Sundridge.

The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Under the Criminal Code, refusal to comply with a lawful demand to provide breath sample or submit to a Drug Recognition Evaluation (DRE) without a reasonable excuse is a criminal offence, carrying the same penalties as impaired driving.

William A. DERRY Was Arrested

(WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), has charged an individual following a traffic stop.

On October 19, 2024, at approximately 10:45 p.m., a member of Wellington County OPP stopped a vehicle on Tucker Street, Arthur.

While speaking with the driver, the investigating officer observed signs of intoxication and a roadside approved screening device (ASD) test demand was made. The driver refused to provide a breath sample for the ASD test.

As a result of the investigation, William A. DERRY, a 34-year-old from Arthur was charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on October 29, 2024.
