Another Pedestrian Struck

On Thursday, December 19, 2024, at approximately 9:22 p.m., police responded to a Personal Injury Collision in the Lawrence Avenue East and Don Mills Road area.

It is alleged that;

  • a 34-year-old female was operating a silver Toyota sedan westbound on Lawrence Avenue East
  • a 50-year-old male pedestrian was crossing from the south side to the north side on the west crosswalk on Lawrence Avenue East
  • the driver of the Toyota Sedan struck the pedestrian
  • the male pedestrian was transported to a local trauma centre in life-threatening condition
  • the driver of the Toyota remained at the scene

The investigation is ongoing by members of Traffic Services.

Police are asking local residents, businesses, and drivers, who may have security or dash camera footage of the area or incident, to contact investigators.

Another Pedestrian Struck

(MIDLAND, ON) –  A report near the noon hour on December 18, 2024, to the OPP Communication Center of an elderly pedestrian being struck by a vehicle on King Street sent officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to investigate.

Supported by members of the Midland Fire Service, County of Simcoe Paramedic Service the 80 year old female Midland resident was triaged and transported to an area hospital by paramedics and then onward to a Toronto trauma hospital for treatment of serious injuries suffered in the crash.

The pedestrian was struck while crossing King Street between McMurtry Road and Robert Street at approximately 12:09 p.m. by a white Chevrolet being operated by a 74 year old male of Midland.

The investigation into the cause of the crash continues under the direction of OPP Central Region Technical Traffic Collison Investigators.

Thanks to the Town of Midland Roads Department in helping to maintain the road closure on King Street that was lifted shortly after 5:00 p.m.

16 Year Old Pedestrain Suffers Life Threatening Injuries

On Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at approximately 7:15 a.m., police responded to a call for a Personal Injury Collision in the Blakemanor Road and Markham Road area.

It is reported that:

  • an 84-year-old man was driving a gray 2012 Ford pick-up truck northbound on Markham Road
  • a 16-year-old girl was struck by the truck as she crossed Markham Road from the eastside to the westside of the street
  • the girl was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries
  • the driver remained on scene

The investigation is ongoing by members of Traffic Services.

Police are asking local residents, business and drivers, who may have security or dash camera footage of the area or incident, to contact investigators.

Child Pedestrain Suffers Life Threatening Injuries #PedestrianLivesMatter

LONDON, ON (December 16, 2024) – A young boy is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a motor vehicle collision late this afternoon in the south end of the city.

Shortly before 4 p.m., on Monday, December 16, 2024, emergency crews responded to a serious motor vehicle collision in the area of Longwoods and Murray roads involving a pedestrian.

A young child was transported to hospital by paramedic services with life-threatening injuries.

All involved parties remained at the scene.

Longwoods Road was closed between Colonel Talbot and Kilbourne roads for a period of time.

The investigation has been reassigned to the London Police Service Traffic Management Unit and is ongoing.

Police are asking anyone who may have dash-cam footage or video surveillance in the Longwoods Road near Murray Road between 3:45 – 4:05 p.m., or information that can assist with the investigation, to contact police. 

The investigation is in its early stages, and more information will be released as appropriate

Police Continue to Investigate Pedestrian Collision in Cambridge

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police’s Traffic Services Unit is investigating a pedestrian collision in Cambridge.

On December 14, 2024, at approximately 11:25 a.m., emergency services responded to reports of a collision between a SUV and a pedestrian at the intersection of Ainslie Street North and Main Street.

The pedestrian, a 61-year-old male was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver, a 82-year-old female reported no physical injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.

Pedestrian Killed In Collision

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – One person has died following a motor vehicle collision in Haldimand County.

On November 25, 2024, at approximately 5:55 a.m., the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with Haldimand Fire and Paramedic Services responded to a motor vehicle collision on Rainham Road, just east of Selkirk, where a pedestrian had been struck on the roadway.

The pedestrian, a 74-year-old from Selkirk was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Members of the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team are assisting with the investigation.

Rainham Road was closed between Haldimand Road 12 and Isabella Street for the protection of emergency responders and to facilitate the investigation but has since reopened.

Another Pedestrian Collision

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – The Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a collision that occurred between a passenger vehicle and a pedestrian in Oxford County.

On Sunday November 10, 2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m., members from the Oxford detachment of the OPP along with Oxford County Fire Services and Oxford County Paramedic Services were called to a collision on King Street East in the Town of Ingersoll.

A passenger vehicle and a pedestrian collided resulting in the pedestrian being transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The lone occupant of the vehicle was uninjured.

Roads surrounding the collision were closed for a short time but have since re-opened.

The investigation is ongoing.

Pedestrian Airlifted After Hit & Run In Clinton #PedestrianLivesMatter

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A 20-year-old pedestrian was injured last evening after being struck by a vehicle that failed to remain at the scene in the Municipality of Central Huron.

On November 7th, 2024, just before 7:30 p.m., the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Huron County Paramedic Services responded to a report of a car vs pedestrian collision near the intersection of East Street and Ontario Street in Clinton.

Emergency responders located one person who had been struck by a passenger vehicle. They were transported to a local hospital and later airlifted to London where their injuries were deemed non-life threatening.

The involved vehicle was observed leaving the scene southbound on East Street and is described as a smaller blue car with silver colouring.

The OPP is requesting any witnesses that may have observed this incident to call police. If any member of the public has dash-cam footage or home surveillance footage in the area, please contact the OPP.

Pedestrian Collision

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – Driver charged after collision with pedestrian in Dorchester.

On October 31, 2024, at 8:21 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Middlesex-London Paramedic Service and Thames Centre Fire were dispatched to Woodvale Drive in Dorchester, Thames Centre, for the report of a single vehicle collision verse a pedestrian.

Early investigation revealed a vehicle struck a pedestrian at slow speeds while the pedestrian was crossing the road.

The pedestrian was transported to hospital as a precaution.

The driver, a 47-year-old of Dorchester has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with turn – not in safety.

Another Pedestrian Struck

(SUDBURYON) – A pedestrian was transported to the local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle.

On October 26, 2024, at approximately 12:40 p.m., the Nipissing West (Sudbury) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a collision involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian on Highway 144, Chelmsford.

The pedestrian was struck while crossing in the crosswalk by a vehicle attempting to make a left-hand turn and then was transported to the local hospital by EMS.

As a result of the investigation, a 64-year-old-person, from Chelmsford, was charged with, fail to yield to pedestrian on roadway.

The OPP would like to remind motorists, to come to a full stop when approaching a crosswalk with pedestrians waiting to cross, yield the right of way and wait until they have crossed completely. Stay alert and avoid distractions like texting or using your phone and watch for pedestrians at all times.

13 Year Old Student Pedestrian Struck

(CHATSWORTH, ON) – On October 11, 2024, at 8:29 a.m., the Grey Bruce OPP received a report that a pedestrian was struck on Highway 10 North of Markdale in Chatsworth Township.

The investigation revealed that a Northbound school bus was stopped with its lights activated and stop sign extended and a Southbound vehicle failed to stop and struck a 13-year-old youth who was crossing the street. The pedestrian received minor injuries.

As a result, a 63-year-old from Toronto was charged with the following:

·      Fail to stop for school bus – stop arm – meeting

·      Fail to surrender insurance card

Drivers are reminded to slow down when you see a school bus and give it plenty of space, as it could come to a stop at any time. Remember, failing to stop for a stopped school bus that has its flashing red lights engaged is a serious offence. For a first-time offence, you can be fined from $400 to $2,000 and have six demerit points added to your license.

Pedestrian Suffers Life Threatening Injuries

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – On June 15, 2024, at approximately 5:00 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious, motor vehicle collision on Wellington Road 124, west of Erin. Initial reports indicated that a white sport utility vehicle collided with a pedestrian on Wellington Road 124 between Wellington Road 125 and Third Line.

Emergency service responded and the pedestrian, a 21-year-old male from Erin, was transported to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (T.I.M.E.) team attended the scene and is assisting with the investigation. The cause of the collision is still under investigation. Investigators are asking anyone who was driving in the area and has dashcam footage, or anyone with information related to the collision, to call 1-888-310-1122.

The roadway remained closed till mid day.

Another Pedestrian Run Down

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating a failed to remain collision on Coleraine Drive.

On June 8, 2024, just after 3:00 a.m., Caledon OPP responded to a collision on Coleraine Drive involving a pedestrian and a white transport truck. The pedestrian was transported by land to a Toronto-area trauma centre where injuries were determined to be serious but not life-threatening. The vehicle failed to remain.

Pedestrian Collision

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Traffic Services Unit is investigating a serious, pedestrian-involved collision in Waterloo.

On May 2, 2024, at approximately 9:25 p.m., emergency services responded to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle at Northfield Drive West and Havelock Drive.

The involved vehicle, described as a white sedan, possibly a Honda Civic, did not remain at the scene and was last seen travelling east on Northfield Drive West.

The pedestrian, a 60-year-old Waterloo male, was transported to an out-of-region hospital with serious injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.

Woman Walking With Dog Run Down – One Deceased

Waterloo Region, Ontario – WRPS’ Traffic Services Unit continues to investigate a pedestrian collision in Cambridge.

On April 5, 2024, at approximately 7:40 a.m., emergency services responded to reports of a collision between a motor vehicle and a pedestrian on Myers Road near Water Street South.

The pedestrian, a 49-year-old female was transported to an out-of-region hospital with serious physical injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, a 52-year-old male reported no physical injuries.

A dog that was being walked by the pedestrian, died as a result of the collision.

The investigation is ongoing.
