MALE IN CRITICAL CONDITION AFTER ATTEMPTING JUMP ON DIRT BIKE

(ZORRA TOWNSHIP) – Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a dirt bike incident which occurred on a private track on private property located on Highway #19, South of Road 74 in Zorra Township at approximately 12:54 p.m. today. (28June2014)

The 18 year old male driver of the dirt bike was attempting to maneuver a jump on the track when he was thrown from his dirt bike. As a result the male was airlifted to a London hospital and is currently in critical condition.

OPP, Zorra fire department and Oxford County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) all responded to assist at this location.

TRAFFIC STOP GETS DRUGS

(WASAGA BEACH, ON.) – On June 27th, 2014 at approximately 7:45 p.m., a member of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police stopped a motor vehicle on Stonebridge Blvd. for a Highway Traffic Act offence a further Police investigation into this traffic stop revealed that an occupant in this vehicle was in possession of a quantity of Cannabis Marihuana.

Charged with “Possession of Schedule II – Cannabis Marihuana” is Pastorino D. RODRIGUEZ 19 years old from Caledon, Ontario. First appearance is July 29th, 2014 in Collingwood court.

ASSAULT POLICE

(WASAGA BEACH, ON.) – On June 27th, 2014 at approximately 11:30 p.m., members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were in the area of Beach Drive and stopped 2 males one with open alcohol. Upon a further investigation the male without the alcohol became aggressive and assaultive towards Police. Upon arrest this male was found to be in possession of a quality of Cocaine and Cannabis Marihuana.

Charged with “Assault Peace Officer”, “Possession of Schedule I – Cocaine” and “Possession of Schedule II – Cannabis Marihuana” is a 17 year old male from Newmarket, Ontario. First appearance is August 7th, 2014 in Collingwood court.

OPP IDENTIFY FATAL MOTORCYCLE CRASH VICTIM

On June 27, 2014 Napanee OPP officers responded to a fatal motorcycle crash on Highway 28, Denbigh.

The driver has ben identified as Kenneth LEACH, 60 of Whitby.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

TWO MALES IN CRITICAL CONDITION AFTER OFF ROAD VEHICLE COLLISION

(COCHRANE, ON) -On June 28, 2014 at 6:01 am, members of the Cochrane OPP detachment responded to a two vehicle collision between a three wheeled All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) and an off road dirt bike on Concession 2 & 3 Road in Glackmeyer Twp, near Cochrane, Ontario.

As a result of the collision, two male drivers in their early twenties from Cochrane, Ontario have been airlifted to hospital with life threatening injuries. The cause of the crash is still unknown and remains under investigation; however alcohol and speed may have been a factor in the collision. OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) are at the scene as part of the police investigation.

A portion of Concession 2 & 3 Road, East of Genier Road remains closed as police continue their investigation. An alternate route along Concession 2 & 3 Road is available for local traffic residing in the area.

OPP INVESTIGATING FATAL CRASH

(DENBIGH, ON) – On June 27, 2014 at approximately 12:00pm, Napanee officers of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious crash on Highway 28 near Ruby Mine Road, Denbigh.

The lone adult male driver was transported to hospital where he died from his injuries.

The OPP’s Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting Napanee detachment members to determine the cause of the crash.

The name of the victim is not being released pending notification of next-of-kin.

MISSING MAN LOCATED

(ADDINGTON HIGHLANDS, ON) – ON June 27, 2014 at approrxomately 11:10am members of the Napanee detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a missing man near Machesney Lake, Township of Addington Highlands, ON.

A 37-year-old Skugog Township man had left on an ATV between 2:00 and 2:30pm on June 26, 2014 for a ride in the area. When he failed to return by the mornng, he was reported missing by a family member.

The OPP’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) was deploed to the area and located the missing man at approximately 11:14am alive.

The OPP want to remind everyone that is traveling in wooded, unfamiliar areas to carry water, a working cell phone and a compass. It may not take long to find yourself lost. If you do, if possible, call for help and stay where you are to help assist emergency response in locating you.

DRUG WARRANTS

(Renfrew County, Ontario) – On 24th of June 2014, members of the O.P.P. Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) – Project Paradigm, O.P.P. Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit, and members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment executed a Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant on a residence in North Algona Wilberforce TWP resulting in the seizure of a prohibited firearm, namely a sawed off shotgun. Oxycodone was also seized.

As a result a warrant for the arrest for Jason LAUNDRIE (41) has been obtained for Breach of Probation, drug and firearms related charges.

(Renfrew County, Ontario) – On 26th of June 2014, members of the O.P.P. Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) – Project Paradigm, Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit, and members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Detachment executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant on a residence on Mary St. in the City of Pembroke. This resulted in the seizure of cannabis marihuana plants, cannabis marihuana bud, and cannabis marihuana resin – solid (HASH).

Three people have been arrested in relation to this event.

Eldon BLAEDOW (39) is charged with Production of Cannabis Marihuana CDSA 7(1), Possession for the purpose of trafficking marihuana CDSA 5(2) and possession of cannabis resin over 1gram CDSA 4(1)

Brian ST.MARTIN (44) is charged with Production of Cannabis Marihuana CDSA 7(1), Possession of marihuana over 30grams CDSA 4(2).

Eldon BLAEDOW and Brian ST.MARTIN were released on Promise to Appear with Officer in Charge Undertaking. They are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke, (ON) on July 29th 2014.

The third person will be charged today.

MALE CHARGED WITH REFUSING TO PROVIDE A BREATH SAMPLE

(KENORA, ON) Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division (HSD) have charged a Winnipeg man for failing to provide a breath sample following a vehicle stop Highway 17 west of Kenora. Shortly before 4:30 pm on Thursday June 26 2014, members of the Kenora HSD received a report of a possible impaired driver on Highway 17 heading east to Kenora. Police attended the location and determined the driver had been consuming alcohol and transported him for further tests.

As a result of this investigation, 26 year old Jeremy TARASOFF has been charged with Impaired Driving and Refusing to Provide a Breath Sample contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is to appear in Kenora Court on June 27 for a bail hearing.

Under the Criminal Code of Canada, it is an offence to Refuse to Comply with a Valid Screening Device or Breath Test Demand. This means that if a police officer makes a demand for you to provide a breath sample, or blow into a screening device, and you do not comply, you may be charged under the Criminal Code of Canada. The consequences of a conviction for Refuse / Fail to Blow are the same as being convicted of Impaired or Over 80.

Earn-A-Bike Program

(Pembroke, ON) – The Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is proud to partner with Tim Hortons for the Tim HortonsEarn-A-Bike program. This is the 1st year the program has run in the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment area. Tim Hortons will be providing bicycles and helmets to area youths who completed 30 hours of community service by assisting in their schools and cleaning up local parks. The recipients range in age from 8 to 14 years and were selected by area schools. The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP assisted with the organization of the program while the students did their part to make their community a cleaner, brighter place to live.<br><br>The presentation of the bicycles will take place on the 3rd of July at 11:00 am at the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the OPP at 1913 Petawawa Blvd. <br><br>The Tim Hortons Earn-a-Bike Program helps kids experience the value of community spirit. Through volunteering within their communities, kids learn a great lesson in responsibility, while being rewarded with a brand new bike.

Single Vehicle Rollover on Highway 28 Results In Charges

On Friday June 27th, 2014 at approximately 9:30am, Peterborough County OPP responded to a single vehicle accident on Highway 28 at Haultain. A 5 ton closed truck traveling southbound left the roadway going over the guard rails and into the west ditch.

As a result of the subsequent investigation Amrit Pal; 28 years of age of Brampton, Ontario is charged with Section 130 of the Highway Traffic Act – Careless Driving.

There were no other occupants in this vehicle and no injuries sustained.

MISCHIEFS IN MAPLETON

(MAPLETON TOWNSHIP, ON) -On June 26, 2014, Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received several reports of mischief overnight. The Maryborough Public School had 3 windows smashed. A 2006 Dodge van parked at the end of a laneway on Wellington Road 86 had the windows smashed and doors dented. And the mailbox and lanterns at the end of the driveway to a home on Wellington Road 10 were damaged.

OPP RECOVER STOLEN TRACTORS

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) -On June 26, 2014, at approximately 7:40 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report that 6 KUBOTA lawn tractors with a value over $100,000 were stolen overnight from Ed Stewart’s Equipment located in Erin. Police obtained information that the lawn tractors were located inside a trailer within a locked compound in Dundas, Ontario.

Hamilton Police Service assisted with the incident while a search warrant was obtained. Wellington County OPP Street Crime Unit (SCU), Wellington County Major Crime, Perth SCU, Emergency Response Unit (ERT), Mount Forest Forensic Identification Services executed a search warrant in the early morning on June 27, 2014 at the Dundas address and the stolen tractors were recovered. No arrests have been made and the investigation is continuing.

DRUG WARRANT LEADS TO COCAINE

(RED LAKE, ON) – On Wednesday June 25th, 2014 the Red Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the assistance of the Drug Enforcement Unit and the Red Lake Crime Unit executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant on a Red Lake residence.

Police located cocaine, crack cocaine, marihuana and a large amount of cash within the residence.

As a result of the investigation a 38 year old male and 35 year old female from Red Lake were charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

RIDE PROGRAM LEADS TO MARIHUANA

(RED LAKE, ON) – On June 24th, 2014 at 8:22 p.m. the Red Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduced Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Highway 125 within the Municipality of Red Lake. While an officer was speaking to a driver he detected an odour of marihuana. Further investigation revealed that the driver was in possession of a quarter pound of marihuana.

As a result of the investigation Dale Kustermans, age 36 of Balmertown, Ontario was charged with possession of a controlled substance contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
