Austin OLAH – Hit & Run, Impaired Driving, Etc. Etc.

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – On July 2, 2021, at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Prouse Road, South-West Oxford Township.

Investigation determined that the vehicle struck a hydro pole and the driver failed to remain at the scene.

As a result, Austin OLAH, 24-years-old from Innerkip was charged with the following offences:

  •   Operation While Impaired
  •   Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  •   Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code
  •   Failure to Comply with Undertaking
  •   Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance
  •   Fail to Apply for Permit on Becoming Owner
  •   Fail to Remain
  •   Driving While Under Suspension
  •   Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle
  •   Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on a later date.

Pervert Alert: Nicholas URENA-PEREZ Child Pornography

(PARIS, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, Digital Forensics and Brant County OPP Detachment arrested and charged a Paris, Ontario resident following an online child sexual exploitation investigation.

On June 30th, 2021, police executed a search warrant at a residence in Paris, Ontario and seized numerous electronic exhibits for further examination. As a result of this investigation, Nicholas URENA-PEREZ, 28-years-old, was arrested and charged with one count of possession of child pornography contrary to section 163.1(4) of the Criminal Code and one count of accessing child pornography contrary to section 163.1(4.1) of the Criminal Code. 

The accused was released at a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on August 20th, 2021.

Children are our most valuable and precious members of society. Many victims of child sexual abuse are so young that they cannot tell their story. Every time an image or video depicting that abuse is shared, that child is re-victimized. Members of the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit will continue to pursue individuals who exploit children on the Internet.

Ryan Paul DAVIDSON – Impaired Driving

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – On Friday July 2, 2021 at approximately 1:33 a.m. officers with the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended an address on Barnes Farm Road in the County of Brant in response to a family dispute in progress.

One involved party had left prior to police arrival and was located nearby. As a result of the investigation, police have charged Ryan Paul DAVIDSON, 28 years-of-age from Brant County with:

  • Operation While Impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Operation While Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and
  • Assault.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario at a later date.

Noah DESROSIERS – Drugs, Weapons & Careless Driving

(GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On June 30, 2021 at approximately 4:30 a.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 10 near Road 120 in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.   

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Noah DESROSIERS, 20 years-of-age, from the Municipality of Grey Highlands, Ontario with the following offences:

  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition,
  • Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner,
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm,
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm,
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm,
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose,
  • Possession of imitation weapon for dangerous purpose,
  • Carrying a concealed weapon,
  • Three counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking,
  • Two counts of possession of a Schedule III substance for the Purpose of Trafficking,
  • Two counts of possession of a Schedule IV substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, and
  • Careless Driving.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on July 29, 2021.

Stolen Firearms Recovered – Herbert MCDONALD Arrested

(PETROLIA, ON) – On June 23, 2021 at 12:45 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were contacted regarding a possible break and enter to a residence on Garfield Avenue.

Officers attended and confirmed the building had been entered unlawfully. Officers confirmed with the homeowner that several firearms had been taken during the break and enter.

The investigators, including Forensic Identification Services and Lambton County Crime Unit members, learned the identity of the individual responsible who was subsequently taken into custody. During the arrest, officers located the stolen firearms and a prohibited weapon.     

Herbert MCDONALD, 45-years-old of St. Clair Township has been charged with:

  • Break and enter a place and steal a firearm.
  • Unauthorized possession of weapon.
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm (five counts).
  • Possession of a firearm obtained by crime (five counts).
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order (two counts).
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm (five counts).

The accused has been held in custody following a bail hearing.

Samantha BADERSKI – Impaired Driving

(LAKESHORE, ON) – On June 29, 2021 at approximately 7:40 p.m., members of the Lakeshore Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor-vehicle collision between two passenger vehicles on County Road 2 near Stuart Lane in the Municipality of Lakeshore. 

No injuries were reported during the course of this investigation.

As a result of the collision, Samantha BADERSKI 22 years of age from Windsor, Ontario has been charged with:

·        Operation while Impaired – alcohol or drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Windsor at a later date.

8 More Impaired Drivers Charged

(ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP, ON) – On June 18, 2021 at 3:40 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed an erratic vehicle on St. Clair Parkway and initiated a traffic stop.

Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage, at which time a roadside screening device was administered. The driver was arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP detachment where they provided two samples of breath above the legal limit.   

John BEAUCHAMP, 59-years-old of Courtright has been charged with

  • Operation while impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

(ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP, ON) – On June 18, 2021 at 6:50 p.m. members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed an erratic vehicle on Kimball Road and initiated a traffic stop.

Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage, at which time a roadside screening device was administered. The driver was arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP detachment.   

Christopher CONRAD, 58-years-old of Wallaceburg has been charged with

  •  Operation while impaired
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand

(BROOKE-ALVINSTON, ON) – On June 21, 2021 at 1:25 p.m. members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed an erratic vehicle on Shiloh Line and initiated a traffic stop.

Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to an OPP detachment and performed a drug recognition evaluation.

Katelyn MAURER, 25-years-old of Brooke-Alvinston, has been charged with

  • Operation while impaired

(LAMBTON SHORES, ON) – On June 24, 2021 at 11:00 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed an erratic vehicle on Lakeshore Road and initiated a traffic stop.

Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage, at which time a roadside screening device was administered. The driver was arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP detachment where they provided two samples of breath above the legal limit.   

Dylan JOHNSTON, 25-years-old of London has been charged with

  •  Operation while impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)
  •  Possession of a Schedule 1 substance

(GRAND BEND, ON) – On June 25, 2021 at 7:30 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint of an erratic vehicle on Ontario Street North. Officers located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.

Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage, at which time a roadside screening device was administered. The driver was arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP detachment where they provided two samples of breath above the legal limit.   

Andrew FORTNEY, 26-years-old of Listowel has been charged with

  •  Operation while impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)
  • Operation while impaired

(SARNIA, ON) – On June 27, 2021 at 1:30 a.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint of an erratic vehicle on Confederation Line. Officers located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.

Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage, and was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP detachment where they provided two samples of breath above the legal limit.   

Robert CLARE, 33-years-old of Sarnia has been charged with

  •  Operation while impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)
  • Operation while impaired

(PLYMPTON-WYOMING, ON) – On June 27, 2021 at 8:20 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint of an erratic vehicle on Highway 402. Officers located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.

Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage, and was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP detachment where they provided two samples of breath above the legal limit.   

Philip PRZYKLING, 42-years-old of Ingersoll has been charged with

  •  Operation while impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)
  • Operation while impaired

(ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP, ON) – On June 27, 2021 at 11:15 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed an erratic vehicle on Kimball Road and initiated a traffic stop.

Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage, and was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP detachment where they provided two samples of breath above the legal limit.   

Jeremy WATTS, 46-years-old of Sarnia has been charged with

  •  Operation while impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)
  • Operation while impaired

The accused in these matters have been released and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

Hydro Pole Cut Down For Copper Wire – Grass Fire Ensues

(Township of Southwold, ON) – Elgin County OPP is currently investigating a grass/brush fire and theft of copper wire from the former Ford Plant property on Colonel Talbot Rd, Southwold. Police, London and Southwold Fire Departments responded to a grass/brush fire on the property on the 24th of June, 2021 at approximately 1:52am when passerby saw flames and reported the fire.

As a result of the investigation it was revealed that someone had intentionally cut down a hydro pole with three transformers on it.  A section of copper wire was the stolen from the downed lines, this also resulted in the sparking wires/transformers causing a large grass/brush fire. The fires was quickly extinguished by the area fire services and no injuries were reported. An estimated value of damages and theft has not yet been compiled.

Police are looking for the public’s assistance and anyone with information regarding the person(s) responsible for this theft and subsequent fire should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122.

6 Million Dollar “Drug” Bust

(KINGSVILLE, ON) – On June 23, 2021, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a Cannabis Act search warrant at a greenhouse located in the 800 block of Seacliff Drive in the Town of Kingsville.

Provincial Joint Force Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET), members of the Essex County Detachment, OPP Essex County and OPP Lambton County Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), along with members of the Provincial Asset Forfeiture Unit (PAFU) and OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), seized over 3500 cannabis plants, over 640 kilograms of processed cannabis and a large quantity of marihuana production equipment.

The total value of seized cannabis and equipment is estimated to be over $6.1 million dollars.

The investigation is continuing.

7 More Arrested In Connection With Homicides

(BRANTFORD, ON) -The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), in a joint investigation with Brantford Police Service, entitled “Project Grantham” under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), have arrested and charged seven additional individuals in connection with two homicides. Both homicides occurred in the City of Brantford in July 2019.

“Project Grantham,” a collaborative and cooperative investigative initiative, was created in response to the homicides of Coby “Kareem” CARTER, 22 years old, of Hamilton, Ontario, Dorothy Lynn VANEVERY, 62 years old, and Larry REYNOLDS, 64 years old, both of Brantford, Ontario.

On July 8, 2019, officers responded to a Colborne Street West address in the City of Brantford, and located a deceased male. On July 18, 2019, police responded to an address on Park Road South, in the City of Brantford, and located a deceased male and a deceased female.

Throughout the investigation, “Project Grantham” uncovered vital information involving all three homicides. As a result, the Brantford Police Service and OPP arrested and charged Abdelaziz Faiz IBRAHIM, 24 years old, of Hamilton, Ontario with First Degree Murder, contrary to Section 235(1) of the Criminal Code in connection with the death of Coby “Kareem” CARTER.

The accused is schedule to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Brantford at a later date.

The following individuals named below are each charged with two counts of First-Degree Murder, contrary to Section 235(1) of the Criminal Code, and one count of Conspiracy to Commit Murder, contrary to Section 465 (1)(a) of the Criminal Code in the deaths of Lynn VANEVERY and Larry REYNOLDS:

  • Malik MBUYI, 20 years old of Toronto,
  • Nathan HOWES, 31 years old of Brantford,
  • Dylan ALRIDGE, 24 years old of North York,
  • Terrell PHILBERT, 22 years old of York,
  • Thomy BAEZ-EUSEBIO, 23 years old of Toronto, and
  • Salloum JASSEM, 32 years old of Brant County.

All individuals remain in custody.

Investigators have determined that neither Lynn VANEVERY nor Larry REYNOLDS were the perpetrators’ intended target.

Brantford Police Service and the OPP wish to thank the public and the media for their assistance in this ongoing and active investigation.

Fatal Backhoe Incident – Name Of Deceased Released

(Township of Malahide, ON) – Elgin County OPP officers responded to a sudden death incident which occurred at approximately 11:02am on the 23rd of June, 2021 in a wooded area on the North side of Nova Scotia Line between Richmond Rd and Carter Rd. Township of Malahide.

Police, Malahide Fire and EMS responded to report that a person had become trapped between the boom and rear of a backhoe. Police investigation determined that the victim had been working in the area of the backhoe when they became pinned between the boom and one of the rear stabilizer legs of the backhoe.

The victim, a 62 year old Malahide resident, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police have identified the deceased as Richard TOBOLA of Nova Scotia Line, Township of Malahide.

A post mortem examination has been scheduled for the 24th of June, 2021.

No foul play is suspected, police continue to investigate.

Mathieu AMYOT – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On June 18, 2021, at approximately 7:00 p.m., a member of Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of a pick-up truck on Victoria Road North in the City of Guelph.

As a result, Mathieu AMYOT, 30-years-old of Kitchener has been charged with Operation While Impaired – 80 Plus contrary to the Criminal Code. 

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on July 20, 2021 to answer to the charge.

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, call police at 911 to report it.

16 Year Old Charged With Careless Driving

(PERTH EAST, ON) – On Wednesday June 16, 2021 just after 8:30 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle collision on Perth Line 83 east of Perth Road 121, in the Township of Perth East.

The vehicle was reported to have lost control, before coming to rest in the ditch. The vehicle driver, who was the lone occupant, suffered no injuries. A 16-year-old resident of Wallenstein was charged with Carless Driving.

3 Rescued From Sinking Boat

(KINGSVILLE, ON) – Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a vessel in distress off Kingsville on Lake Erie on Friday June 18, 2021 around 12:45 pm. 

The operator of the 29 foot vessel was fighting strong winds and waves and noticed that it was taking on water. The three adult occupants onboard soon realized the boat was beginning to sink, they all had their lifejackets on and ended up in the water.

A call was placed to 911 from witnesses on shore, and the OPP marine unit and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC Trenton) were engaged. Prior to the OPP marine unit or JRCC Trenton deployed units arriving on scene a civilian vessel made its way out to the three parties and assisted with their rescue. All parties were accounted for and no injuries were sustained in the incident.

The OPP would like to remind all boaters the importance of the use of properly functioning fitted and approved lifejackets and Personal Floatation Devices (PFD’s).

Richard VAUGHAN Facing Drunk Driving Charge Following Collision

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – On Saturday June 19, 2021 at 9:45 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment, Haldimand County Fire Services and Haldimand County Paramedics responded to Reeds Road in North Cayuga for a report of a single-vehicle collision.

One individual sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment. Another person received minor injuries.

While speaking with the driver, signs of alcohol consumption were detected. The individual was treated for his injuries in hospital and then transported to the Norfolk detachment for a breathalyzer test.

Richard VAUGHAN, 33-years-old of Hamilton is charged with:

  • Driving a motor vehicle while impaired
  • Driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood
  • Impaired driving causing bodily harm.

The accused is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charges.
