(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) -On the morning of April 28, 2014, Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to 7 calls involving break and enters and vehicles entered overnight on Sixth Line, Seventh Line and Eramosa-Garafraxa Town Line, Centre Wellington Township.

Unknown suspects entered unlocked vehicles parked in driveways and gained entry to storage areas. Numerous items were taken from loose change, wallets and purses, a cash box with currency, identification, tools, food, and alcohol.

Police are reminding property owners that thefts from vehicles are a crime of opportunity and it is important to ensure that storage areas are secured. Keep yourself from becoming an easy target by simply securing your vehicle and storage facilities- Lock it or Lose it.

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – Shortly after 2:00 pm on April 22, 2014, members of the Rainy River District Detachment on the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information regarding a possible impaired driver.

Shortly after 3:30 pm on the same day, the suspect vehicle was located and a traffic stop was conducted. As a result of an investigation at the scene, Derek Archie a 41 year old male from Big Grassy First Nation has is charged criminally with:

One count of operating a motor vehicle with ability impaired by alcohol; and
One count of operating a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams (mg) of alcohol in 100 milliliters (ml) of blood.

He has also been charged under Ontario’s Highway Traffic Act with:

Driving while under suspension; and

Under Ontario’s Liquor Licence Act with:

Driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor.

Derek Archie is scheduled to appear in Fort Frances Provincial Court on May 29, 2014 at 9:30 am to answer to these charges.

(ATIKOKAN, ON) – Shortly before 7:30 pm on April 15, 2014 members of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle travelling on Highway 11 in the area of Seine River First Nation.

Initially the suspect vehicle attempted to flee from the officer conducting the investigation but quickly became stuck in the mud on a side road.

An investigation at the scene revealed that the driver was impaired and the vehicle was stolen.

Danielle Big George a 19 year old female from Big Grassy First Nation has been charged criminally with:

Care and control of a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams (mg) of alcohol in 100 milliliters(ml) of blood; and
Occupant of vehicle taken without consent.

She has also been charged under Ontario’s Highway Traffic Act with:

Speeding;
Fail to stop for police;
Drive motor vehicle – no licence; and

Under Ontario’s Liquor Licence Act with:

Having care and control of a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor.

The passenger Kyle Kasper a 26 year old male from Kenora has been charged criminally with:

Take motor vehicle without consent.

Both Kyle Kasper and Danielle Big George are scheduled to appear in Fort Frances Provincial Court on May 29, 2014 at 9:30 am to answer to the criminal charges.

(ATIKOKAN, ON) – Members of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have concluded their investigation into a snow machine collision that sent a 14 year old youth to hospital earlier last month.

On April 3, 2014, three Atikokan youths were riding on the Saturn Road Extension trail after school. Two of the riders collided at the junction of the Saturn Road Extension and the Sno-Ho snowmobile trail sending one youth to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center with a fractured leg.

Both youths involved in the collision were charged with careless driving under the Motorized Snow Vehicles Act (MSVA). Alcohol was not a factor.

(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON.) The Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Thunder Bay man as a result of a large cash seizure.

On the afternoon of Tuesday April 29, 2014, officers from the Sioux Lookout OPP received information about an individual travelling through Sioux Lookout who was suspected to be in possession of a large amount of cash.

The subsequent investigation confirmed the male was in possession of nearly $18,000, which was suspected to be related to the sale of illicit drugs. The man was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance.

As a result of the investigation, 38 year old Dean BLUECOAT faces charges of possession of property obtained by crime and possession of a controlled substance.

BLUECOAT was later released from custody and will appear in Sioux Lookout court on June, 10, 2014.

(MUNSEE-DELAWRE NATION)- On May 1, 2014 at 11:42 a.m. members of the Chippewas of the Thames First Nation Police Service responded to a residential break and enter in progress on the 300 block of Thomigo Road located on the Munsee-Delaware First Nation. Police learned that a lone male party was located at the rear of the residence by the home owner when the suspect fled the scene on foot.

Supporting officers from the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Western Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Western Region OPP Canine Unit attended the scene and assisted in the location of the male suspect.

As a result of an investigation police have arrested and charged a 17 year old male from the Munsee-Delaware First Nation with break and enter as per Section 348(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada and Failure to comply with disposition as per section 137 of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA). The accused has been remanded into police custody and is scheduled to appear in a London court room at a later date to speak to his outstanding charges.

On Sunday April 27 at 6:28am OPP officers responded to a report of an erratic driver on Highway 17 near Arnprior. Police located the suspect vehicle and stopped the driver at Highway 17 and Bruce St in Horton Township. The male driver had been drinking and failed a roadside alcohol screening test. Alcohol was seized from the vehicle. Following further tests at the detachment Alexander CAMPBELL 18 of Laurentian Hills was charged with driving over 80mgs, breach of probation, speeding, possessing more than one drivers licence, being a novice driver with a BAC above 0, and driving a motor vehicle with liquor readily available. He was released on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on May 28. Provincial Constable Kyle Mask investigated.

On Monday April 28 shortly after 10pm Provincial Constable John Leaver stopped a vehicle on Highway 17 at Goshen Road in McNab/Braeside Township. The male driver had been drinking and failed a roadside alcohol screening test. Following further tests at the detachment Timothy STEWART 45 of Point-Claire Que. was charged with driving over 80mgs. He was released on a promise to appear in court in Renfrew on June 11.

(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On Thursday, May 1, 2014 at approximately 1:25 p.m., a member of the Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a 2008 GMC pick-up truck on Grey Rd. 4 in the Municipality of Grey Highlands, after having observed that the vehicle was being driven 10 to 20 km/h below the posted 80 km/hr speed limit.

The driver was found to have been drinking alcohol and was subsequently given a road side breath test, which he failed. He was arrested and brought to the Markdale OPP Detachment for further breath tests, which registered in the “warn range”. His driver’s licence was suspended for three days.

Ian David HARGRAVE, 41, of Grey Highlands, was charged with driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor under the Liquor Licence Act.

(NAPANEE, Ontario) – On Thursday the 01st of May 2104, the Napanee detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responed to a call for police assisstance. Information was received from more than one victim that they had been verbally threatened and that their property would be damaged. The vicitms had been threatened by the same suspect.

Investigation lead to one male youth being arrested and taken into custody.

A 16 year old male young person of Napanee has been charged with:

Two (2) counts of Uttering Threats to Cause Damage to Property,
Two (2) Counts of Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
One (1) Count of Failure to Comply with a Court Order

He has been held in custody for a Bail Hearing to take place in Napanee Youth Court on the 02nd of May 2014.

(Napanee, Ontario) – On Thursday May 01st, 2014 at approximately 7:05 pm officers from the Ontario Provinvial Police, Napanee detachment responded to a report of an altercation between two adult males at the Mac’s Convenience Store on Centre St. The police investigation revealed that a man had been threatened with a weapon.

30 year old Mauro SICILIANO of Greater Napanee is charged with the following: Assault with a Weapon, Uttering a Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm, and four (4) counts of an Adult Failing to Comply with a Court Order.

SICILIANO was held in custody for a Bail Hearling on the 2nd of May, 2014. The victim age 37 years old, also of Napanee was not physically injured in the incident.

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk County Detachment have charged a 32 year old male after police were contacted by an alert citizen at a Norfolk Street South, Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario, address.

On Thursday, May 1, 2014 at approximately 5:16 p.m., police were called to a local business after a male attempted to purchase several electronic items. The store clerk became suspicious after additional identification could not be provided. The male exited the store and was last seen walking down the street.

Police were contacted and through the course of investigation, police located and arrested the male.

Charged with the following offences is 32 year old James SLOANE of Hamilton, Ontario.

He will appear in Provincial Court, Simcoe at a later date to answer to the charges.

(MUNICIPALITY OF MEAFORD, ON) – On Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at approximately 12:24 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a man for breaching his probation.

The accused, who is bound to two probation orders and is not to purchase, possess or consume alcohol or any other intoxicating substances, attended a scheduled appointment with a Probation Officer at the Meaford OPP Detachment. During the meeting, it was determined that he had been drinking alcohol.

Donald FIRSTBROOK, 56, of the Town of Blue Mountains, was arrested while at the detachment and charged with two counts of failing to comply with a probation order. He was held for a bail hearing.

(KENORA, ON) – Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have dispatched three dogs from a pack of dogs that have been creating a dangerous situation in the Laurenson Lake area of the City of Kenora. Police have been responding to complaints about the pack throughout the winter months. The animals have been killing deer in the city and showing increasingly aggressive behaviour.

On May 1, 2014 at around 10:00 am, OPP attended the Laurenson Lake area to respond to a complaint that a pack of dogs had severely injured a deer. Police attended and found the deer suffering from multiple injuries and dispatched it. The dogs were observed shortly after in the area and three of them were dispatched by police. The pack is estimated to have between 6-8 dogs.

The OPP would like to remind the public that these animals may pose a risk to public safety. People should use caution if they see the dogs, especially if they are actively attacking a deer or feeding on a kill. Citizens are advised to call the City of Kenora By-law Officers at 467-2166 or the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is reminding the public to protect their property and valuables against would be thieves after a vehicle entry was reported at a Main Street, Delhi, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Wednesday, April 30, 2014, in the early morning hours, unknown suspects entered a motor vehicle that was parked in a parking lot. Once inside, unknowns proceeded to remove two fishing rods.

The first fishing rod is described as a Loop Fly fishing pole , black in colour and approximately 9’6 in length.

The second fishing rod is described as a Daiwa fishing pole, brown in colour and approximately 11ft in length.

The items are valued at approximately $1,850 dollars.

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is investigating a Break and Enter at a Townline Street, Charlotteville, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Wednesday, April 30, 2014 in the early morning hours, unknowns attended the address and gained entry into a shed that was located on the property. Once inside, unknowns proceeded to remove a generator.

The generator is described as a 2013 Champion, and is yellow in colour. It is valued at approximately $500 dollars.

The Norfolk County OPP Detachment is continuing to investigate and is seeking assistance from the public. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, they are being asked to contact the Norfolk County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.
