DRIVER CHARGED WITH DANGEROUS OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE

(ADJALA-TOSORONTIO)- Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Officers received a call to attend a motor vehicle collision on May 3, 2014 at 12:22am on Concession Road 3 near County Road 17, Adjala-Tosorontio Township.

The collision took place between two vehicles a 2006 Acura and a 2012 Dodge Caravan, the driver of the 2006 Acura was driven off the road by the driver of the Dodge Caravan. The 2012 Dodge Caravan was located by Dufferin OPP with a damaged front tire; the suspect driver was attempting to retrieve the vehicle through the Police.

Charged with Dangerous driving and Fail to remain at the scene of a collision is 28 year old April SMITH from Southgate, Ontario. She will appear in court on July 10, 2014 at the Ontario Court of Justice to answer to these charges.

IMPAIRED DRIVERS ARRESTED AND CHARGED

(PLYMPTON-WYOMING, ON) On May 3, 2014 at around 2:30 a.m., Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers stopped a Pontiac car on Confederation Line in the area of Mandaumin Road. While speaking with the driver, it was determined that he had been consuming alcoholic beverages. Subsequent tests indicated that 34 year old Michael DENNIS, who is from Wyoming, was over the legal limit. He will appear in a Sarnia court on May 26, 2014 to answer to the charges of being over the legal limit and driving while disqualified.

(ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP, ON) On May 3, 2014 at around 9:30 p.m., Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers stopped a Chevrolet car in the area of Waterfront Park on the St. Clair Parkway. While speaking with the driver, it was determined that he had been consuming alcoholic beverages. Subsequent tests indicated that 39 year old Daniel KARATSOREOS, who is from St. Clair Township, was over the legal limit. He will appear in a Sarnia court on May 26, 2014 to speak to the charges of being over the legal limit and failing to comply with a probation order.

(SARNIA, ON) On May 1, 2014 at around 10:00 a.m., Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers observed a male getting into a Pontiac car in a parking area in the 100 block of Christina Street. The male appeared to be under the influence of alcohol so the officers approached the vehicle to speak with him. Through investigation it was determined that he had been consuming alcoholic beverages and subsequent tests indicated that 36 year old Ryan ELLIS from Sarnia was over the legal limit. He will appear in a Sarnia court on May 12, 2014 to speak to the charges of care and control while impaired and care or control while being over the legal limit.

BREAK ENTER AND THEFT TO AN ARMOUR TOWNSHIP RESIDENCE

(ARMOUR, TWP) The Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating the break, enter and theft to an East Road, Armour Township residence. Sometime between Friday May 2, 2014 at 6:00 p.m., and Saturday May 3, 2014 at 10:30 a.m., unknown person(s) entered the residence and stole alcohol, a Samsung cell phone, a Panasonic DVD player, and 2 rings. The total value of the missing items is approximately $850.

Any person with information regarding the person(s) responsible for this theft should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.”

MOTOR VEHICLE ROLLOVER-DRIVER ARRESTED FOR IMPAIRED

(ADJALA-TOSORONTIO)- On May 3, 2014 at 12:14am, the Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a motor vehicle collision on the 5th Concession of Adjala-Tosorontio, where the 2006 Mazda rolled several times over and came to rest in a field just north of County Road 1.

The Police investigation quickly became an impaired driving investigation and the 30 year old female driver was arrested. Charged is Krystal-Rae DAY of Adjala-Tosorontio, her charges are:

Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Criminal Code of Canada,
Refuse to Provide a Sample of her Breath, Criminal Code of Canada,
Resisting a Peace Officer, Criminal Code of Canada,
Drive Motor Vehicle while licence was under suspension, Highway Traffic Act.

The charged party was held for a bail hearing on May 5, 2014.

OPP SEIZE DRUGS AT R.I.D.E. PROGRAM

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On May 4, 2014, just before 10:30 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program at Highway 40 and Longwoods Road, when a Jeep entered and stopped for the officers.

Officers spoke with the driver of the vehicle. Subsequent OPP investigation resulted in the officers seizing a small amount of suspected marihuana.

The 20 year old driver, Nicholas PRELAZ, from Thamesville, has been charged with Possession of Marihuana, under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

He is scheduled to appear in a Chatham court on May 29, 2014, to answer to the charge.

DRIVER CHARGED AT RIDE PROGRAM

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On May 3, 2014, just after 9:30 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program at Highway 40 near Longwoods Road, when a Dodge van entered and stopped for the officers.

While officers were speaking with the driver, Michele TURATO, age 45, from Chatham, it was determined that she had been consuming alcoholic beverages.

Subsequent tests indicated that she was over the legal limit and will appear in a Chatham court on May 27, 2014, to answer to the following charges:

Driving With More Than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood, under the Criminal Code of Canada

Fail To Surrender Insurance Card, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Driver Fail to Surrender Licence, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Fail To Surrender Permit For Motor Vehicle, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

Chatham-Kent OPP would like to remind drivers that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. If you consume alcoholic beverages, plan for a safe ride home by using a designated driver, a taxi or public transit to ensure that you and others sharing the road arrive safely.

OPP CHARGE DRIVER WITH IMPAIRED BY DRUG

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On May 2, 2014, just after 4:30 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a complaint of a Jeep driving erratically on Highway 401 eastbound from Essex County.

Officers located the vehicle and stopped it near Merlin Road. While officers were speaking with the driver, 41 year old Nathan WHITE, from Windsor, ON, it was determined that he was impaired by drug.

Subsequent tests by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) OPP officer led to the driver being charged with Driving While Ability Impaired, under the Criminal Code of Canada.

The driver is scheduled to appear in a Chatham court on June 6, 2014, to answer to the charge.

DRIVER CHARGED IN TWO VEHICLE COLLISION

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On May 5, 2014, just after 10:00 a.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a collision involving two vehicles on Highway 40 at Electric Line.

The collision occurred when a Ford van proceeded to turn northbound onto Highway 40 from Electric Line and struck an oncoming KIA automobile that was southbound on Highway 40.

The male driver of the Ford, 37 year old Marc LITFIN, from LaSalle, has been charged with Fail to Yield To Traffic On Through Highway, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He did not report any injuries.

The female driver of the KIA was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

IMPAIRED DRIVER FACES SEVERAL CHARGES

(CALEDON, ON) – On May 4, 2014 shortly before 11:30 pm, a concerned citizen contacted the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to report a possible impaired driver on Airport Road. The caller reported that the vehicle was travelling the wrong way on Airport Road. Further, the citizen reported that he had to take evasive action in order to prevent a motor vehicle collision with the suspect vehicle. Officers located the silver Hyundai Sonata parked in a financial institution parking lot. The officer approached a female who was standing at the rear driver’s side of the vehicle. The female admitted to driving the vehicle prior to stopping in the parking lot. The officer immediately detected a strong odour of alcohol on her breath and that she displayed many other signs of intoxication..

Subsequently, the driver was arrested for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and she was transported for further testing.

In conclusion, Brenda LOVELL, 56, of Caledon was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Over 80 and Dangerous Driving of a Motor Vehicle.

The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and her motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to make her first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on May 15, 2014.

If you suspect that someone is driving or is about to drive impaired, call 9-1-1 and report it. If you see that someone is impaired and intends on driving, do not let them drive.

SEASONAL TRAILER AND SHED BROKEN INTO

(CALEDON, ON)- On May 3, 2014, officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended the Terra Cotta trailer park to investigate a break and enter.

Investigation revealed that sometime between October 13th, 2013 and May 3rd, suspect(s) attended the park, broke into the victim’s trailer and shed, stole property and caused extensive damage to the inside of the trailer. The suspect(s) stole a large quantity of tools including a Husqvarna chainsaw, a Stihl saw and sander and Makita drill.

Police are reminding residents to contact the OPP Communications Centre immediately at 1-888-310-1122 to report any suspicious activity or suspicious vehicles in the area. Information such as suspect physical descriptions, suspect vehicles and direction of travel are useful tools for investigators.

R.I.D.E. CHECK LEADS TO ARREST

(CALEDON, ON) – On May 4th, 2014 at approximately 1:20 am, officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E. (Reducing Impaired Driving Everywhere) check on Allan Drive in the Village of Bolton.

The officers observed a red SUV exit a parking lot in the area and noticed as the driver accelerated turning northbound onto Regional Road 50. Subsequently the officers activated their vehicle’s emergency equipment to conduct a vehicle stop to check on the driver’s sobriety. Upon speaking with the driver, the officers detected an odour of alcohol on his breath.

Subsequently, the driver was given the roadside screening breath demand. The driver refused to provide a sample of his breath.

In conclusion, James JENNISON, 24, of Caledon was arrested and charged with Refuse to Provide Sample.

The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on May 22, 2014.

OPP INVESTIGATE THEFT FROM VEHICLE

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is reminding the public to protect their property and valuables against would be thieves after a vehicle entry was reported at a Grenada Drive, Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Monday, May 5, 2014, in the early morning hours, unknown suspects entered two motor vehicles that were parked in the driveway of the residence. Once inside, unknowns proceeded to remove a black Garmin Nuvi Global Positioning System (GPS).

The theft is valued at approximately $300 dollars.

Kenneth Lawrence LUCAS – Drunk Driving

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment has charged a 65 year old male after police stopped a vehicle at a Cockshutt Road, Townsend, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Sunday, May 4, 2014, at approximately 3:35 p.m., police were conducting patrols in the area of Cockshutt Road and Norfolk County Road 19 East, when officers received a call from a concerned citizen that was following a vehicle north bound on Cockshutt Road.

Officers located the vehicle however it initially failed to stop when officers activated their emergency equipment. The vehicle was subsequently stopped by police and investigated.

As a result of investigation, police arrested and charged 65 year old Kenneth Lawrence LUCAS of Toronto, Ontario with Impaired Driving and Driving over the legal limit.

He is to appear in Provincial Court, Simcoe at a later date to answer to the charges.

ARREST MADE IN TRAFFIC COMPLAINT

(Prince Edward County, ON) —On May 02, 2014 at 7:42pm an officer with the Ontario Provincial Police Prince Edward County detachment located the subject of a traffic complaint travelling on County Road 5, Picton. The driver had been consuming alcohol.

58-year old Christopher MOLLOY of Trenton, ON is charged with Operating While Impaired, contrary to Section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada and Operation With Over 80 mgs. of Alcohol, contrary to Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was later released from police custody on a promise to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice, Picton on May 02, 2014.

MAN ARRESTED IN MAIN STREET DISTURBANCE

(Prince Edward County, ON) -On May 03, 2014 at 8:27pm an assault that had occurred on Main St., Picton had been reported to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Prince Edward County detachment.

A dispute between two men had turned violent. One man had punched the other. The victim had suffered minor injuries. No weapons were involved.

Later that night, OPP arrested 36-year old Michael LAIRD of Picton, ON. for Assault contrary to Section 266 of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released from police custody on a promise to appear and undertaking and is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Picton on June 04, 2014.
