Jason FLANAGAN – Drunk Driving

(North Dundas) – On 05May14, at approximately 10:30am, SD&G OPP officers had occasion to conduct a traffic stop on County Road 9, North Dundas Township.

The stop revealed that the 43yr old male driver (Jason FLANAGAN of South Stormont) was operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

He was arrested and faces charges of:

– Driving While Ability Impaired
– Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood

He is scheduled to appear 20May14 in Cornwall court.

DRIVER CHARGED 56 km/h OVER THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT

(NAPANEE, ON)- On May 6th at 9:31 p.m. an officer with the Napanee Detachment was monitoring traffic on Highway 401 east bound by County Rd 41.

The officer noted a vehicle travelling east bound at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle, a white ford fusion, was stopped and the driver was charged with stunt driving. He was issued a seven day drivers licence suspension and his vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.

The vehicle driver, 40 year-old Ali OBO of Etobicoke, was released on a summons and is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Napanee on May29th., 2014.

Joshua AITCHISON – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) A member of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to a motor vehicle collision involving a Dodge Caravan and a back hoe on April 28, 2014 at approximately 1:20 a.m.

Police attended an address on Highway 11 in the City of Temiskaming Shores for further investigation which resulted in an 18-year-old male facing charges.

There were no injuries as a result of the collision and the Dodge Caravan has been impounded for 7 days.

Joshua AITCHISON of Kerns Township is charged for Impaired Driving – section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code and Over 80 – section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

The Accused will appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury on May 27, 2014.

Chain Link Fencing Stolen

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON.) – Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Haldimand County detachment is investigating the theft of chain link fencing and gates from two locations in Haldimand County, ON.

Sometime between the evening of Friday May 2nd and the morning of Monday May 5th, 2014 unknown(s) attended the Haldimand County water tower site on Townsend Parkway and removed 2 – 10 foot chain link gates and approximately 20 feet of chain link fencing. Value of the theft is approximately $2000 dollars.

Then sometime during the late evening hours of Sunday May 4th to the early morning hours of Monday May 5th, 2014 unknown(s) attended the Selkirk Ball Park and removed two chain link gates, described as 20 feet wide and 5 feet wide. The gate mounting hardware was also removed. Value of the theft is approximately $1000 dollars.

Daniel David WANNAMAKER – Drunk Driving

(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On Sunday, May 4, 2014 at approximately 6:53 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an erratic driver passing vehicles unsafely northbound on Hwy. 10 near Road 110 in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

Police stopped the suspect vehicle, a 2011 Jeep, south of Markdale after observing the vehicle hit the shoulder of the road. The driver, who was found to have been drinking alcohol, was arrested for impaired driving. Breath tests were conducted; indicating he had more than three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

Daniel David WANNAMAKER, 36, of Saugeen Shores, was charged with impaired driving, over 80 mgs, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. His vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Thursday, May 29, 2014.

BREAK AND ENTER TO GERMAN SCHOOL ROAD GOLF COURSE

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) – The County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), officers are investigating a break and enter at the Oaks of St. George Golf Course, on German School Road.
Sometime between 10:30 p.m. Sunday May 4th, 2014 and 12:30 a.m. Monday May 5th, 2014, suspects entered the pro shop. The two male suspects removed numerous golf clubs, golf bags and a large sum of cash from the pro shop.

Christopher DUNN – Drunk Driving

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On May 6, 2014, just after midnight, Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a complaint of a Ford SUV driving erratically on Highway 401 westbound near Bloomfield Road.

Chatham-Kent OPP officers located and stopped the vehicle. While officers were speaking with the driver, 30 year old Christopher DUNN, from St. Joachim, it was determined that he had been consuming alcoholic beverages.

Subsequent tests indicated that the driver was over the legal limit and he will appear in a Chatham court on May 30, 2014, to answer to the following charges:

Driving While Ability Impaired, under the Criminal Code of Canada

Driving With More Than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood, under the Criminal Code of Canada

Driving Motor Vehicle With Open Container Of Liquor, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act

Chatham-Kent OPP would like to remind drivers that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving. If you consume alcoholic beverages, plan for a safe ride home by using a designated driver, a taxi or public transit to ensure that you and others sharing the road arrive safely.

TWO ARRESTED FOR BREACHING CONDITIONS

On Saturday May 3, 2014, officers responded to a report of an unwanted intoxicated person at a Sioux Lookout residence. The individual was later located not far from the residence, at which time it was learned he was contravening a release order from prior charges by being intoxicated. As a result of the investigation, 20 year Dylan CARPENTER of Slate Falls, Ontario was charged with failing to comply with his undertaking. CARPENTER was held in custody.

Later on that same evening, officers responded to a report of an individual in violation of a court ordered curfew. The suspect was later located and arrested without incident. 19 year old Cristal SPADE of Sioux Lookout was subsequently charged with one count of failing to comply with her recognizance. SPADE was held in custody for a bail hearing.

POLICE SEEK ASSISTANCE IN LOCATING CARELESS DRIVER

During the morning of Sunday May 4, 2014, officers were advised of a traffic complaint from the Sioux Lookout ambulance service. At approximately 6:30 the previous evening, on Highway 664 west of Sioux Lookout, an ambulance was transporting a patient to the hospital with its emergency lights on. It was reported that a black sport utility vehicle (SUV) passed the ambulance at a high rate of speed. One of the female passengers in the vehicle was observed lifting up their shirt at the ambulance driver as it was passing.

The Sioux Lookout OPP is asking that if anyone has any information as to who may be responsible for this to contact them at 1-888-310-122 or provide anonymous information through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

FEMALE CHARGED WITH MULTIPLE ASSAULTS

On Sunday May 4, 2014, members of the Sioux Lookout OPP investigated an assault complaint which occurred at a house party the previous night. A female victim had sustained significant facial injuries as a result of an altercation with another female. As a result of the investigation, 21 year old Tamara MCMILLEN of Frenchman’s Head, Ontario faces two charges of assault, one charge of aggravated assault, and one charge of breach of probation. MCMILLEN remains in custody at this time.

BREAK IN TO SURF PARADISE

(HUNTSVILLE, ON) On May 2, 2014 just after 4:00am Huntsville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was advised of a break in to Surf Paradise on King William St in the town of Huntsville.

Officers arrived and were met by the owner. The culprits smashed the front door glass entered the business and removed items including clothing and cash. A short time later a vehicle was located in Almaguin Highlands OPP detachment area with the property from Surf Paradise in the vehicle. A 19-year-old Kearney male has been charged with Break and Enter and will appear in Ontario Court of Justice Huntsville on June 4, 2014 to answer to his charges.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON

(HUNTSVILLE, ON) On Thursday May 1st 2014 just after 12:00pm Huntsville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was notified of suspicious persons on Fowlers Road in the town of Huntsville.

The owners who were home at the time advised that around noon they were working in their garage when they heard the back door of their garage rattle several times and the door knob turn. The owner went into the house and saw a female running from the residence.

The female is described as being heavier set between 5’4” to 5’8” with longer hair that was up in a bun style. She appeared to be wearing a light grey ski jacket with vertical black sections under the armpit of the jacket. The female was seen getting into the passenger’s side of a grey minivan, then sped off.

The suspects did not gain any entry into the house. Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area of Fowlers Road on Thursday May 1, 2014 is asked to contact Huntsville OPP or Crime Stoppers.

OPP INVESTIGATE OVERNIGHT COLLISION; SIU Mandate Invoked

(ADJALA-TOSORONTIO)- On Friday May 2, 2014 at 9:24 pm, an officer from Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Ontario (OPP) was conducting radar enforcement on County Road 15 at the 15th Side road of Adjala Township.

A vehicle was observed traveling in excess of the posted speed limit and officer attempted to safely stop the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve in the road and struck an oncoming vehicle head-on.

An 18-year old male from the Town of New Tecumseth with:

Dangerous Driving Cause Bodily Harm

Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle

Flight from Police, and

Possession of Controlled Substance- Marihuana.

There were two occupants in the vehicle which was struck who sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the collision and they were transported by ambulance to a local area hospital.

County Road 15 at the 15th Side road has been re-opened.

The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has been notified and has invoked its mandate. Further inquiries should be directed to SIU Communications at (416) 622-2342.

TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DRUG AND WEAPON CHARGES

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) On May 3, 2014, just after 2:00 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers conducted a traffic stop on a Ford SUV, on Highway 401 eastbound near Merlin Road, after observing the vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed.

Subsequent OPP traffic investigation at roadside revealed that the driver’s licence was suspended. Further investigation led to the seizure of suspected marihuana and a flick knife within the vehicle.

As a result, the driver, 21year old Tony CASTRO, from Windsor, has been charged with Possession of Marihuana, under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Driving While Under Suspension and Speeding, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

A passenger in the vehicle, 26 year old Jerrett MUNRO, from Windsor, has been charged with Possession of Marihuana, under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, and Unauthorized Possession of Weapon, under the Criminal Code of Canada.

Another passenger in the vehicle, 25 year old Wayne MUNRO, from Windsor, has been charged with Possession of Marihuana, under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

All three men are scheduled to appear in a Chatham court on June 5, 2014, to answer to the charges.
