STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERED

(Bancroft, Ontario) – On Tuesday May 06th 2014, the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the report of a stolen vehicle from Old L’Amable Road in the Town of Bancroft. Investigation revealed that sometime between 11:00 p.m. on the 05th of May and 7:00 a.m. on the 06th of May a maroon Chevrolet Suburban was stolen from a residence. The vehicle was later located on Batelle Road in the Town of Bancroft.

On Tuesday May 06th, the Bancroft OPP also received the report of a theft from a vehicle on Old L’Amable Road. Investigation revealed that a GPS and CD deck were stolen from a vehicle.

Careless Driving

(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) – During the morning of Sunday May 4, 2014, officers were advised of a traffic complaint from the Sioux Lookout ambulance service. At approximately 6:30 the previous evening, on Highway 664 west of Sioux Lookout, an ambulance was transporting a patient to the hospital with its emergency lights on. It was reported that a black sport utility vehicle (SUV) passed the ambulance at a high rate of speed. One of the female passengers in the vehicle was observed lifting up their shirt at the ambulance driver as it was passing.

After further investigation, a 24 year old Sioux Lookout woman has been charged with careless driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

The Sioux Lookout OPP would like to thank the public and the local media for their assistance in solving this incident.

ROAD CLOSED TEMPORARILY FOR NATURAL GAS LEAK

(TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH)- Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently at the scene of a reported of a gas leak at the southwest corner of King Street South and Faulkner Street in the Town of New Tecumseth.

There is no expected need for any evacuation at this time.

Officers have had the road closed for approximately an hour now and will have it closed for another two more hours until the gas leak is contained.

For residents of the area, Faulkner Street is completely shut off to travel at this time; you may park in a safe place for pickup of your children from local schools. This road closure is expected for approximately two hours.

KEARNEY MAN ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF A STOLEN VEHICLE

(KEARNEY, ON) – On Friday May 2, 2014 at approximately 3:00 a.m., the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to investigate the theft of a 2001 Nissan Sentra that had just been stolen from a Kearney residence.

OPP searched the area and at approximately 4:15 a.m. officers from the Almaguin Highlands Detachment found the vehicle on Highway 518, in the town of Kearney and conducted a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle was subsequently arrested for possession of stolen property.

OPP charged Christopher DINSMORE, 19 of Kearney, Ontario with possession of stolen property, contrary to the Criminal Code, and fail to comply with probation, contrary to the Criminal Code and drive motor vehicle while under suspension, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

The accused was released from police custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sundridge, Ontario on Thursday May 8, 2014

VEHICLE DAMAGED – COLLINGWOOD MAN CHARGED WITH MISCHIEF

(MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On Sunday, May 4, 2014 at approximately 12:22 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a mischief report on River Road in Feversham, in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

The victim observed an unknown male smash the side view mirror of his 2008 Dodge pick-up truck parked at his residence.

When police arrived they were approached by the suspect who admitted to breaking the mirror. He was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000.

Brad STOCKFISH, 20, of Collingwood, is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Thursday, June 19, 2014.

ARMED ROBBERY OVERNIGHT

(TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH)- On May 5, 2014 at 9:56 pm, Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a robbery from the Husky gas station on Victoria Street East in the Town of New Tecumseth.

A lone male suspect entered the store and brandished a knife demanding cash; the male then quickly left the store with some cash. The store employee was not injured during the robbery.

Nottawasaga OPP Officers, Emergency Response Team members, a K9 team and later the Forensic Identification Team were deployed to the scene.

Police are looking for a suspect described as male, white, approximately 170-173 cm (5’7”- 5’8”) in height, described as thin in stature with short, dark hair. He was wearing blue jeans, a black jacket with a hood over his head and white running shoes. He had a black knapsack and was wearing a white scarf over his nose and mouth.

Individuals should always be cognizant of their personal safety at all times.

On Monday, May 5, 2014, in the early morning hours, unknown suspects entered an unlocked motor vehicle parked in the driveway of the residence. Once inside, unknowns proceeded to remove the ownership and insurance card for the vehicle.

On Monday, May 5, 2014, in the early morning hours, unknown suspects entered an unlocked motor vehicle that was parked in the driveway of the residence. Once inside, unknowns proceeded to remove a small quantity of Canadian currency and a girt card.

OPP INVESTIGATING MISCHIEF

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to an incident at a West Quarter Line Road, South Walsingham, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Monday, May 5, 2014 in the early morning hours, unknown(s) attended the address of the Nature Conservancy of Canada and proceeded to damage the entrance gate.

OPP INVESTIGATE THEFT

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is reminding the public to protect their property and valuables against would be thieves after a theft was reported at a Peel Street, Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

Between Thursday, May 1, 2014 and Monday May 5, 2014, unknown suspect(s) attended the Simcoe Business Improvement Area (BIA) office and removed a small ceramic figurine in the sharp of a bird.

Then figurine is described as having a silver/gold top with a white bottom.

IRRIGATION SPRINKLERS TAKEN FROM BARN

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is investigating a Break and Enter at a Schafer Side Road, Middleton, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

Between Thursday, May 1, 2014 and Monday, May 5, 2014, unknown suspect(s) attended the address and gained entry into a barn located on the property. Once inside, unknowns proceeded remove approximately 70 Rainbird 14070 aluminum irrigation sprinklers.

The theft is valued at approximately $3,500 dollars.

Terry GROSS – Drunk Driving

(TOWNSHIP OF CHATSWORTH, ON) – On Saturday, May 3, 2014 at approximately 11:02 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of single motor vehicle collision on Grey Rd. 3 in the Township of Chatsworth where the driver was believed to be impaired by alcohol.

Several people stopped, including an off-duty police officer, to assist the driver who had crashed his vehicle, a 1977 Chevrolet Corvette, into the ditch on Grey Rd. 3 near Grey Rd. 25. The driver was taken to hospital for minor injuries and released. Breath tests conducted confirmed the driver was impaired by alcohol.

Terry GROSS, 52, of West Grey, has been charged with impaired care and control of a motor vehicle and over 80 mg.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on Thursday, May 15, 2014.

Driver Charged with Careless – Two Vehicle Collision Hwy 401

(NAPANEE, ON)- On May 6th at approximately 4:17 p.m a collision occurred on Highway 401 east bound by Palace Rd in Napanee.

A passenger vehicle (red ford Windstar) and a tractor trailer (Freightliner) were involved. The passenger vehicle reared ended the tractor trailer unit, in the construction area. The driver of the passenger vehicle was trapped in the vehicle and was extricated by the Greater Napanee Fire Service.

The 24 year-old driver, Samir DJERIBI of Montreal Quebec has been charged with careless Driving. He was transported to the hospital by County of Lennox & Addington Emergency Services with minor injuries. The 52 year-old driver of the tractor trailer that was rear-ended suffered no reported injuries.

James KUIACK, 52 years of age of Killaloe, Hagarty Richards Township is charged with Care and Control over 80mgs contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada. KUIACK is scheduled to appear in Killaloe Court on June 4, 2014.

Boat Motor and Generator Stolen

(South Algonquin Township, ON) Provincial Constable Jordan Bullis is investigating a theft of a boat motor and generator. Sometime during the week of April 29 and May 2, 2014 unknown person(s) removed the generator and boat motor from a garage on Major Lake Road. (Killaloe Hagarty Richards Township, ON) Provincial Constable Jeff MacLeod is investigating the theft of a green, three barrel style, hand water pump. During the evening of April 26, 2014 unknown person(s) removed the pump from the back of a truck that was parked on John Watson Road.
