YOUNG MALE CAUGHT STEALING FROM VEHICLES IN PARIS

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) – The County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), an officer was called to a suspicious male looking in vehicles along West River Street in the Town of Paris in the County of Brant.

At approximately 5:05 a.m. on May 11th, 2014 the officer located the young male hiding under a vehicle. After further investigation a 15 year old male from the County of Brant was arrested.

The accused is facing the following Criminal Charges

Theft Under $5,000.00

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.00

Possession of Schedule II substance- Cannabis Marihuana Under 30 grams

The young male is scheduled to attend Provincial Court in Brantford on June 25th, 2014 to answer to the charges.

OPP INVESTGATE ORO-MEDONTE HOUSE FIRE

(Oro-Medonte, ON) – Barrie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to a house fire on May 12th, 2014 at 4:52 am. Police and Oro-Medonte Fire Department responded to a house fire on Line 10 North in Oro-Medonte Township.

A resident who was in the home at the time was transported to a local hospital and later air lifted to a Toronto area Hospital to be treated for severe burns. Police and the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) are still investigating the fire. The fire scene is being held by Police until the Fire Marshal has completed their investigation.

Update: SERIOUS MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION CLOSES PINEHURST ROAD

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) – The County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), are investigating a serious two vehicle collision that occurred on Pinehurst Road at Glen Morris Road in the County of Brant.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. Sunday May 11th, 2014, Sharon BALLET a 45 year old female from Waterloo Region was driving a Yamaha motorcycle north bound on Pinehurst Road. The motorcycle was struck by a Ford pickup truck that was east bound on Glen Morris Road. The driver of the motorcycle was taken to a Waterloo Region Hospital and later transferred to a Hamilton area hospital with life threatening injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck Nathaniel ENNS 30 years of age from Waterloo Region was charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario

West Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are assisting the County of Brant OPP with the investigation. Pinehurst Road at Glen Morris Road was closed until approximately midnight for the investigation.

POLICE ARREST TWO ON MOUNT PELION

(QUINTE WEST, ON) On Sunday May 11th, 2014 shortly after 3:00 am Quinte West OPP responded to a drug offences call on top of Mount Pelion in the City of Quinte West. The complainant was a civilian worker at the Quinte West OPP detachment who observed the two accused people using illegal drugs on the city’s cameras. When officers arrived on scene they arrested a man and woman for possession of cocaine and marijuana. 23 year old Ian MARR of Murray Ward and 21 year old Cassandra LORTIE of Trenton were both released on a Promise to Appear with a first appearance date of June 26th, 2014 in Belleville court.

DOG CAUSES MOTORCYCLE COLLISION

A 43 year old St. Thomas, ON man suffered minor injuries yesterday May 11, 2014 after being involved in a motorcycle collision with a dog.

The motorcycle, a 2007 Harley Davidson, was travelling eastbound on Vienna Line in the area of Carter Road, Malahide Township when the motorcycle struck a dog which had run onto the roadway. The dog was killed in the collision and the driver of the motorcycle was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

Police investigation is continuing.

DRIVING COMPLAINT RESULTS IN IMPAIRED CHARGES

(HALIBURTON, ON) – On May 08, 2014 Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haliburton Highlands Detachment responded to an erratic driver on Highway 118 in the Township of Minden Hills, Ontario. Police located the 2007 Toyota pickup truck at the gas station in Carnarvon and the male driver was arrested for Impaired Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle. The male was transported to the OPP detachment for breath tests and as a result, William NICHOLSON age 74 from Norland Ontario has been charged with the following:

Impaired Care or Control
Care or Control with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden on June 04, 2014.

SERIOUS MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION CLOSES PINEHURST ROAD

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) – The County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), are investigating a serious two vehicle collision that occurred on Pinehurst Road at Glen Morris Road in the County of Brant.

BREAK AND ENTER TO GOLF LINKS ROAD PROPERTY

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) – The County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), officers are investigating a break and enter to a residential garage on Golf Links Road in the County of Brant.

Sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. on May 8th, 2014 suspects entered the detached garage. The suspects removed power tools, alcohol and a metal detector. The suspect then continued rummaging through the unlocked vehicles. Police are advising people who live in rural areas to lock their garage doors and please lock your vehicles.

THEFT FROM HALF A DOZEN VEHICLES

(WARWICK TOWNSHIP, ON) A string of thefts from vehicles between May 10, 2014 and May 11, 2014 during the overnight hours is being investigated by Lambton Ontario Provincial Police.

The incidents took place on Warwick, John, Erie, and, Simcoe streets and involved the theft of money, a Canon Powershot camera, a wallet, personal identification, a bank card and a health card.

The OPP investigation is continuing and of course Lambton OPP reminds the public to not leave anything of value in your vehicles and to always lock your vehicles.

Provincial Constable Caitlyn VAN STRAALEN – Drunk Driving

(RED LAKE, ON) – On May 11, 2014 officers from Red Lake OPP were conducting a RIDE check on Highway 125 just west of Dellenor Road in Red Lake. At approximately 11:05pm CST officers checked a vehicle and discovered the driver had been drinking. The driver provided a breath sample into the roadside screening device and registered a fail. The driver was arrested and transported to the Red Lake detachment for breath tests.

As a result of the investigation Provincial Constable Caitlyn VAN STRAALEN, a six year member of the OPP currently assigned to Red Lake Detachment was arrested and charged with Drive Over 80 mgs of Alcohol in 100 ml of Blood contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code. She will be restricted to non-operational duties pending her scheduled appearance in Red Lake Criminal Court June 5, 2014.

FATAL COLLISION INVOLVING MOTORCYCLE

(NORWICH TOWNSHIP, ON.) – The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision on May 10, 2014 that occurred at approximately 4:55 p.m. on Oxford Road 13, north of the Ninth Road in Norwich township.

The single vehicle collision involved a motorcycle that had been travelling northbound on Oxford Road 13. The motorcycle drove onto the gravel shoulder and continued off the Road into the ditch where the collision occurred.

The 48 year old male driver, David HOWARD of Woodstock is deceased as a result of his injuries from the collision.

OPP members, Otterville Fire department, Oxford County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) all responded and assisted with the scene.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) attended the scene to continue with the investigation.

FATAL COLLISION INVOLVING CAR AND SPRAYER

(OTTERVILLE, ON.) – The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision that occurred at approximately 9:09 a.m. today on Main Street in Otterville.

The collision involved a Terra-Gator sprayer and a car. The car was travelling westbound and the sprayer was travelling eastbound when the collision occurred.

There is a 9 year old female deceased party as a result of the collision.

The female adult driver and 3 children sitting in the rear of the car were all transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the sprayer was uninjured.

OPP members, Otterville Fire department, Oxford County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) all responded to assist with the scene.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) attended the scene to continue with the investigation.

The Ministry of Labour was notified but did not need to attend the scene.

Main Street was closed for several hours but has since re-opened.

TWO VEHICLE COLLISION HIGHWAY 401 – Vehicle Drivers and Passenger Identified

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers are continuing their investigation into a collision which occurred on Highway 401 near Mull Road on May 10, 2014, just before 2:30 p.m.

The deceased driver of the Ford car has been identified as Marc LAFONTAINE, age 35, from Windsor. The deceased passenger in the car has been identified as Alyssa SMULDERS, age 13, from Windsor.

The male driver of the Freightliner tractor trailer, Leszek URBANIAK, age 57, from London, has been released from hospital.

The investigation is continuing.

18 Year Old Faces Attempt Murder Charge

(SPRINGWATER TOWNSHIP, ON.) – On May 10th, 2014 at approximately 9:30 p.m., members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report that a male had been stabbed at a residence on Baldwick Lane.

An initial OPP investigation revealed that a verbal argument between a 49 year old male and 18 year old male both from the above address escalated with the 18 year old male stabbing the other male repeatedly. The 49 year old male from Springwater Twp. was transported to Hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.

Charged with “Attempt to Commit Murder” is an 18 year old male from Springwater Twp. First appearance is today, Sunday, May 11th, 2014 in Newmarket Court.

This investigation is ongoing under the direction of the Huronia West Crime Unit.

(SPRINGWATER TOWNSHIP, ON.) – On May 10th 2014 at approximately 6:00 p.m., members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report that a female a Constance SMITH 49 years of age from the Village of Elmvale was missing.

Approximately 160 lbs. in weight
Brown Hair
Brown Eyes
Wearing Glasses

Policing are concern for SMITH’s welfare due to her current medical condition and need to locate her.
