Donald DAVIS – Drunk Driving

(ELDERSLIE TWP, ON) – On September 4, 2023, at 7:12 p.m., a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol noticed a vehicle moving at a high rate of speed. The vehicle’s speed was displayed on radar at more than 110 km/h in a posted 70 km/h zone.

After stopping the vehicle, the driver was found to have been drinking alcohol. They were placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified Intoxilizer Technician for breath tests.

Donald DAVIS, 59-years-old, from Waterloo Region was charged with Operate over 80 milligrams and Speeding.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton on October 18, 2023, to answer to the charge.

An impaired driving charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.

4 More Stunt Drivers Charged

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged four drivers over the long weekend after they were all speeding more than 50 km/h over the limit in Perth County.  

On September 2, 2023, at approximately 12:10 p.m., police stopped a vehicle on Perth Road 180 in West Perth after it was found to be travelling more than 140 km/h in an 80 km/h limit zone.

As a result, a 22-year-old of Windsor has been charged with:

–      Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt

On September 2, 2023, at approximately 9:01 p.m., police stopped a vehicle on Road 164 in North Perth after it was found to be travelling more than 135 km/h in an 80 km/h limit zone.

As a result, an 18-year-old of Linwood has been charged with:

–      Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive speed

On September 3, 2023, at approximately 12:02 a.m., police stopped a vehicle on Wallace Avenue North in North Perth after it was found to be travelling more than 95 km/h in a 50 km/h limit zone.

As a result, an 18-year-old of Palmerston has been charged with:

–      Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive speed

On September 3, 2023, at approximately 1:30 p.m., police stopped a vehicle on Perth Road 140 in North Perth after it was found to be travelling more than 131 km/h in an 80 km/h limit zone.

As a result, an 24-year-old of Listowel has been charged with:

–      Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive speed

 In each incident, a 30-day driving suspension and 14-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused drivers are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Dune Buggy Stolen During Break & Enter

(PERTH EAST, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a break and enter at a local residence on Line 43 in the Township of Perth East.

Sometimes between 12:00 a.m. on August 24, 2023, and 5:27p.m. on August 25, 2023, unknown person(s) attended the address and gained entry to a garage. Once inside, unknown(s) took a dune buggy.

The dune buggy is described as a Talon GSR 150 R2.

Police are continuing to investigate and ask the public to report suspicious activity immediately, and remember to lock doors to vehicles, houses, garages, and sheds. Do not leave keys with vehicles, including ATVs. Consider installing security features, such as increased lighting, cameras, or alarms.

More Impaired Drivers Charged

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged four drivers over the long weekend with impaired driving.

On September 1, 2023, at approximately 7:42 p.m., the Perth County OPP stopped a vehicle for speeding on Wellington Road 86 in the Township of Perth East.

As a result, Mitchel PELLEY, a 27-year-old resident of Kitchener was charged with:

  •  Operation While Impaired- Alcohol and Drugs
  •   Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  •  Dangerous operation
  •  Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive speed
  •  Unsafe move – lane or shoulder

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on September 25, 2023, to answer to the charges.

On September 2, 2023, at approximately 11:47 p.m., Perth County OPP stopped a vehicle after the driver avoided the Reduce Impaired Driver Everywhere (RIDE) program on Fishleigh Street in Monkton.

After speaking with the driver, Lucas SMITH, a 27-year-old resident of Monkton was charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Obstruct Peace Officer

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on September 25, 2023.

On September 3, 2023, at approximately 9:02 p.m., Perth County OPP approached a vehicle with a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the vehicle on St. David Street in West Perth.

As a result, Cody MCINTYRE, a 29-year-old resident of Clinton and Lillian NIXON, a 20-year-old from Huron East was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired- Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The 20-year-old was also charged with Novice Driver – B.A.C. above zero.

Both accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on October 16, 2023.

All of the accused in these matters were issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

Police Investigating Suspicious Fires

(HURON EAST, ON) – In the early morning hours of September 5, 2023, Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to fires at three separate locations in the Municipality of Huron East.

The total combined loss for the three fires is estimated to be $21,250.

All three fires are considered to be suspicious.

Huron County OPP is continuing to investigate the fires along with members of the Huron County OPP Major Crime Unit (MCU).

Adam KOPET – Impaired Driving

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Kitchener resident with impaired driving offences following a traffic complaint received by police from the public on August 27th, 2023. 

On Sunday morning, August 27th at 5:42 a.m., Huron County OPP were contacted by a concerned citizen who reported a suspected impaired driver attempting to depart an address on London Road in Central Huron. Police arrived on scene minutes later and located the automobile matching the complainant’s description.

Police spoke to the driver and determined that they had been consuming alcohol prior to driving. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and taken into custody. The driver was transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton for further breath tests before an OPP qualified breath technician.

Adam KOPET, 38 years of age from Kitchener has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs,

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 18th at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

More Domestic Violence Cases

(BLUEWATER, ON) – On August 23rd, 2023, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were contacted for a report of an intimate partner dispute incident in the Municipality of Bluewater.

As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had committed an assault on their partner.

A 32-year-old individual from South Huron has been charged under the Criminal Code with Assault – Spousal.

The accused was arrested and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 16th, 2023, in the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice.

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – On August 28th, 2023, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were contacted for a report of an intimate partner dispute incident in the Municipality of South Huron.

As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had criminally harassed their partner.

A 38-year-old individual from South Huron has been charged under the Criminal Code with Criminal Harassment.

The accused was arrested, held for a bail hearing, and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 25th, 2023, in the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice.

(SOUTH HURON / HURON EAST, ON) – On August 28th, 2023, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were contacted for a report of intimate partner violence incidents that had occurred in the Municipalities of South Huron and Huron East.

As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had criminally harassed and assaulted their partner.

A 23-year-old individual from Central Huron has been charged under the Criminal Code with: Assault, and Harassing Communications.

The accused was arrested and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 23rd, 2023, in the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice.

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – On August 31st, 2023, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were contacted for a report of an intimate partner dispute incident in the Municipality of Central Huron.

As a result of the investigation, OPP learned that the involved suspect had uttered threats against their partner and damaged property.

A 22-year-old individual from Central Huron has been charged under the Criminal Code with: Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm, and Mischief – Domestic.

The accused was arrested, and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 27th, 2023, in the Goderich Ontario Court of Justice.

Wellington OPP Weekly Report

(COUNTY OF WELLINGTON, ON) – Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to consolidate and streamline our notable traffic offences and publish a single weekly release.

On August 23, 2023, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Wellington County OPP responded to a reported traffic complaint on Highway 6, Wellington North. It was reported that a grey sedan was being driven erratically. As a result of the investigation, Augustina RALSTON, 55-years-old of St Catharines, has been charged with Operation while Impaired and Operation while Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 plus, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph, on September 15, 2023.

On August 24, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 50, Erin. At approximately 8:00 a.m., the driver of a blue pickup truck was stopped. As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old driver from Erin, was charged with Driving while Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (H.T.A.) and with Operate a Motor Vehicle without Insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (C.A.I.A.). The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph, on December 6, 2023.

On August 24, 2023, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a traffic hazard on Wellington Road 7, Pilkington. As a result of the investigation, Justin James CAMERON, 40-years-old of Guelph, has been charged with Operation while Impaired, contrary to the C.C. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph, on September 12, 2023.

On August 25, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 109, Wellington North. At approximately 2:15 a.m., the driver of a black coupe was observed travelling well above the posted 80km/hr speed limit. As a result of the investigation, a 54-year-old driver from Tiverton, has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt, contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph, on December 6, 2023.

On August 26, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Highway 6, Wellington North. At approximately 11:30 a.m., the driver of a blue sedan was stopped. As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old driver from Mississauga, was charged with Driving while Under Suspension contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph, on December 6, 2023.

On August 26, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 18, Centre Wellington. At approximately 11:30 p.m., the driver of a red coupe was stopped. As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old driver from Ariss, was charged with Operate Unsafe Vehicle, Improper Tires, Drive Motor Vehicle – Fail to Display Two Plates and Improper Muffler, contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph, on December 6, 2023.

On August 27, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 123, Minto. At approximately 2:30 a.m., the driver of a grey sedan was stopped. As a result of the investigation, a 19-year-old driver from Gowanstown, was charged with three counts of Driving while Under Suspension, Use Plates not Authorized and Fail to Apply for Permit on Becoming Owner, contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph, on December 6, 2023.

On August 27, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 18, Centre Wellington. At approximately 7:30 p.m., the driver of a grey pickup truck was stopped. As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old driver from London, was charged with Driving while Under Suspension, contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph, on December 6, 2023.

On August 27, 2023, Wellington County OPP responded to a single vehicle collision on Wellington Road 16, Centre Wellington. It was reported that a black sedan had left the roadway and rolled over. As a result of the investigation, Jonathan Sean POON WAH, 18-years-old of Brampton, was charged with Dangerous Operation, contrary to the C.C. The defendant is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph, on October 17, 2023.  

On August 28, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Jones Baseline, Guelph/Eramosa. At approximately 4:30 p.m., the driver of a white sedan was observed travelling well above the posted 60km/hr speed limit. As a result of the investigation, a 19-year-old driver from Elora, has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt, contrary to the H.T.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph, on December 6, 2023.

On August 30, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Edinburgh Avenue, Fergus. At approximately 12:30 p.m., the driver of a black Sport Utility Vehicle (S.U.V.) was stopped. As a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old driver from Maple, has been charged with Operate Motor Vehicle without Insurance contrary to the C.A.I.A. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph, on December 6, 2023.

*Anyone charged with Operation while Impaired – B.A.C. 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) or Failing to Comply with Demand receives a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment as per statute.

*Anyone charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt receives a 14-day impoundment and a 30-day driver’s licence suspension as per statute.

Amen SAUNDERS – Drunk Driving

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On August 27, 2023, at 7:18 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a suspected impaired driver in the town of Kincardine.

Officers located the vehicle and the driver was found to have been drinking alcohol. They were placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified Intoxilizer Technician for breath tests.

Amen SAUNDERS, 24-years-old, from the Municipality of Kincardine was charged with Operate over 80 milligrams and Driving while Prohibited.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton on October 16, 2023, to answer to the charge.

An impaired driving charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.

Ditched Vehicle Leads To Cocaine Bust

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Howick Township resident with Impaired Operation and a drug possession offence after a complaint was reported to police on Sunday, August 20th

Huron OPP officers were dispatched to Jamestown Road in Huron East at 9:00 a.m. on August 20th. A concerned citizen had observed a vehicle partially in the ditch and contacted OPP. Officers located the involved vehicle and spoke to the driver who displayed signs of impairment. Officers had reason to believe that the driver was impaired by drug, and they were subsequently arrested.

The accused was then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment in Clinton for further tests by an OPP Drug Recognition Expert (D.R.E.).  

Lance BRIGHTON, 62 years-of-age from Howick Township has been charged with the following offences:

–      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs,

–      Possession of a Controlled Substance – Cocaine.

The accused was additionally charged with an offence found in the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused’ driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.

Drunk Driver Vs Natural Gas Meter

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a South Huron resident with Impaired driving offences following a collision investigation on August 23rd, 2023. 

At 3:48 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23rd, Huron County OPP officers, Huron County Paramedic Services and the South Huron Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a vehicle that had collided with a wire fence, trees and a natural gas meter on Airport Line, Municipality of South Huron. The involved driver was transported to the South Huron Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police spoke the driver and made a demand for their breath sample using the roadside screening device which resulted in a failure. The investigating officer subsequently arrested the driver for Impaired Operation.

The accused then provided further breath samples before a qualified Intoxilyzer Breath Technician. Suitable breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over three times the legal limit.

Gerri WOCKS, 40 years of age from South Huron has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs,

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 30th, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Beached Vehicle Leads To Impaired Charge – Name Released

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH TWP, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Huron East resident with Impaired Driving offences following complaints received by police on Sunday August 20th. 

Huron County OPP were contacted by concerned citizens that reported people drinking alcohol on the beach at the end of Zion Road on August 20th, 2023, at approximately 4:50 p.m. in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township. Police attended the area of the report and observed a vehicle on the beach matching that provided in the complaints.

Police spoke to the suspected driver and determined that they had been consuming alcohol prior to driving. A demand was made by police for a sample of the driver’s breath into the roadside screening device, which resulted in a failure. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and taken into custody. The driver was transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton for further breath tests with an OPP qualified breath technician.

Timothy DUCHARME, 49 years of age from Huron East has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs,

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 25th, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Wingham Paperboy Swarmed By Teens – Suspect Descriptions Released

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Major Crime Unit is investigating a robbery that took place in the Town of Wingham, Township of North Huron on August 24th, 2023, on Victoria Street, near Helena Street.   

On August 28th, 2023, Huron County OPP was contacted by the 13-year-old victim’s mother, who advised police that her son had been attacked while delivering newspapers on Thursday, August 24th at approximately 4:00 p.m. The victim was cycling westbound on Victoria Street near Helena Street when three unknown males exited a trail and pulled the victim’s backpack off his back. The backpack was full of newspapers and the suspects threw the newspapers over the bridge into the river. The victim was able to escape on his bicycle with the suspects chasing him. The victim received minor injuries from the incident.

The three suspects, believed to be between the ages of 18-27 years are described as follows:

#1: Male, wearing a grey shirt and blue pants.

#2: Male, wearing a red shirt and black pants.

#3: Male, wearing a black shirt.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance should they have any knowledge of this incident or suspects.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered – Dustin RICHARDSON Arrested

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On August 9, 2023, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received notification from the Automatic Licence Plate Reader (ALPR) of a stolen vehicle parked on Wallace Avenue North in the Municipality of North Perth.

Throughout the investigation, statements were completed and as a result, Dustin RICHARDSON, a 33-year-old of North Perth has been arrested and charged with:

–      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on October 16, 2023, to answer to the charge.

Police responded the morning of August 6, 2023, after the homeowner realized their 2010 Silver Chevrolet Impala was stolen sometime overnight.  

The Perth County OPP would like to remind citizens to keep all vehicles and buildings locked and report any suspicious activity immediately. Consider installing security features, such as increased lighting, cameras, or alarms.

Head On Collision – Two Sent To Hospital

(PERTH EAST, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating a head on collision on Line 34.

 On August 26, 2023, at approximately 8:19 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Perth County Emergency Medical Services and Perth East Fire department responded to a head on collision on Line 34 in the Township of Perth East.

One driver was transported to an out-of-town hospital with life-threatening injuries. Another passenger was transported with non-life-threatening injuries.

Perth County OPP with the assistance of West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team are continuing to investigate the collision.
