OPP ASSIST WITH SEARCH FOR OVERDUE FISHERMEN

(SOUTH PORCUPINE, ON) – Members of the South Porcupine Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment, OPP Helicopter and members of the Connaught Volunteer Fire Department are conducting a land and water search in the Frederickhouse Lake area for two overdue fishermen from Iroquois Falls.

On Monday, May 19, 2014, the OPP were notified that the two men had ventured out on a fishing excursion on a handmade raft on Frederickhouse Lake and had failed to return.

STUNT DRIVER CHARGED

(CALEDON, ON) – On May 19, 2014 at 7:09 am, an officer from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting speed enforcement in the Village of Caledon. The officer observed the driver of a white Nissan Altima travelling northbound at a high rate of speed and determined the speed at 137 km/hr. in a 50 km/hr. zone.

As a result, Darren I. ABASS, 33, of Brampton was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle.

The vehicle was impounded for seven days as a result of the stunt driving charge.

The driver is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Caledon on June 23, 2014.

THEFT OF BICYCLES FROM LOCAL SCHOOL

(COLLINGWOOD, ONTARIO) Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are asking for the public’s help in solving a theft which took place over the course of the weekend.

The theft took place sometime from Friday the 16th of May 2014 to Tuesday the 20th of May 2014 where culprit(s) entered a storage shed on the property of St-Mary’s School on Saunders Street in Collingwood. Once inside the culprit(s) stole 5 tricycles that were for the use of kindergarten students at the school. One of the tricycles was recovered nearby. The tricycles are described as red in color with yellow wheels, black seat with a make of ‘We Play’.

BREAK AND ENTER IN LAKESIDE

(KENORA, ON) Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a break and enter that occurred on May 19, 2014.

On Monday May 19, 2014 police received a report that an unknown suspect had entered a residence in the Lakeside area of Kenora around 4:30 am. One of the occupants woke up and saw the suspect in the residence. The suspect fled the scene upon waking the occupant.

The suspect is described as a male youth, First Nations, approximately 6 feet tall, with a thin build wearing a grey hoodie and blue jeans. Nothing was taken from the residence.

The investigation is continuing.

TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO CHARGES

(THE BLUE MOUNTAINS, ONTARIO) Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a male motorist with several offences as a result of a vehicle stop early Friday morning.

On the 17th of May 2014 shortly before 3:00am, officers stopped a vehicle for speeding on Grey Road 19 near Martin Grove. Interactions with the driver found that he was under the influence of alcohol and was subjected to a roadside breath test which he failed. As such he was arrested and transported to Collingwood detachment for processing.

Charged is 48 year-old Michael ELLINGER of The Blue Mountains. He is facing a criminal charge of driving with more than 80mg of alcohol in blood as well as highway traffic act charges of speeding over 50 km/h over the posted speed limit, race a motor vehicle, fail to use lower beam-oncoming, fail to notify change of address-license and a liquor license act charge of driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor.

He is to appear in Owen Sound court on the 5th of June 2014.

MOTORCYCLIST CHARGED WITH DANGEROUS DRIVING

(CALEDON, ON) – On May 19, 2014 at approximately 8:17 pm, officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised to lookout for a group of motorcycles travelling at a high rate of speed southbound on Airport Road from the Dufferin area. According to officers from the Dufferin Detachment, speeds were recorded at 189 km/hr.

An officer from the Caledon Detachment attended the area of Highway 9 and located an eastbound motorcycle matching the description provided by Dufferin officers. The officer observed as the rider was operating his motorcycle at speeds between 180 and 200 km/hr. Further, the officer observed as the operator was weaving in and out of traffic in a dangerous fashion. Within a short distance, the officer located the same motorcycle parked outside a Highway 9 residence. The officer entered onto the property and concluded that that the rider had been involved in a motor vehicle collision prior to his arrival. Upon speaking with the motorcyclist, the officer observed that the rider was shaken up and that his motorcycle gear was damaged. The officers contacted the ambulance service to assess the motorcyclist’s injuries. He was later released with a minor injury.

In conclusion, Ahmad Samim DAWRAN, 21, of Toronto was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Dangerous Driving. Officers from the Dufferin Detachment charged the rider with several Highway Traffic Act of Ontario offences.

ALERT OFFICER STOPS VEHICLE – DRIVER ARRESTED

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment has charged a 20 year old male after police stopped a vehicle at a Turkey Point Road, Turkey Point, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Sunday, May 18, 2014, at approximately 11:01 p.m., police were conducting patrols in the area of Turkey Point Road and Front Road, when a vehicle attracted an officer’s attention. The vehicle was subsequently stopped and investigated.

As a result of investigation, police arrested and charged 20 year old Justen Joseph PETTIPAS of Brantford, Ontario with Fail to comply with Recognizance and refuse to provide breath sample.

He is to appear in Provincial Court, Simcoe at a later date to answer to the charges.

POLICE INVESTIGATING THEFT

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment received a report of a theft from a Talbot Street North, Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Saturday, May 17, 2014 between 8:30 a.m., and 1:15 p.m., unknowns attended Dawson Construction and proceeded to remove a pair of fork lifts for a skid steer which weigh approximately 200 pounds.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the person(s) responsible. If anyone has any information they are being asked to contact the Norfolk County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

STOLEN VEHICLE

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment received a report of a stolen vehicle from a Cherry Street, Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Saturday, May 17, 2014 in the early morning hours, unknowns attended the address and proceeded to remove a vehicle that was parked on the roadway.

The vehicle is described as a white 2002,Chevrolet Silverado with red decals with Grant Concrete Forming on the sides of the vehicle.

OPP INVESTIGATE THEFT FROM VEHICLE

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is reminding the public to protect their property and valuables against would be thieves after a vehicle entry was reported at a Woodstock Avenue, Long Point, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Saturday, May 17, 2014, in the early morning hours, unknown suspects entered an unlocked motor vehicle that was parked in the driveway of the residence. Once inside, unknowns proceeded to remove a right handed set of Ping golf clubs in a silver golf bag with red and blue markings. A pair of men’s golf shoes were also taken during the theft.

The theft is valued at approximately $1,400 dollars.

OPP INVESTIGATING BREAK AND ENTER

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is investigating a Break and Enter at a 12th Concession Road, North Walsingham, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Saturday, May 17, 2014 between 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., unknowns attended the address and gained entry into the garage. Once inside, unknowns proceeded to remove

Dewalt dry wall tools yellow in colour, Stihl chainsaws orange in colour, and three aluminum ladders.

The theft is valued at approximately $1,500 dollars.

R.I.D.E PROGRAM RESULTS IN FEMALES BEING ARRESTED

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment has charged an 18 year old female and 20 year old female after checking a vehicle at a Norfolk County Highway 24 East, Woodhouse, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Friday, May 16, 2014 at approximately 9:13 p.m., police were conducting a R.I.D.E program (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) in the area of Norfolk County Highway 24 East and Norfolk County Road 57 when the vehicle was stopped and checked for driver sobriety.

Charged with possession of Marihuana and possession of Hashish is 18 year old Maddison SCHRAM of Norfolk County, Ontario

Charged with possession of Marihuana is 20 year old Alexandra Paige CURRAN of Norfolk County, Ontario.

Both are to appear in Provincial Court, Simcoe at a later date to answer to the charges.

LAMBTON OPP INVESTIGATING THEFT

(BROOKE-ALVINSTON, ON) Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating the theft of a welding machine that took place between May 17, 2014 and May 19, 2014 at a residential address in the 8000 block of Railroad Line.

A Lincoln Electric MIG Pak 180 welding machine, that is red and black in colour was taken after entry was gained to the victim’s garage. The welding machine has an estimated worth of $700.00

TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO CRIMINAL CHARGES

(GRAND BEND, ON) A Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer, who noticed that a vehicle had no tail lights, ended his traffic investigation with three criminal code arrests.

On May 16, 2014 around 10:30 p.m. the OPP officer stopped a Dodge vehicle on Ontario Street to address the issue of the vehicle not having its tail lights illuminated.

As a result of the traffic stop, the 21 year old male driver, Michael DOBBIN of Kitchener ON, was arrested and charged with Fail to comply with an Undertaking and he has a Sarnia court date of June 2, 2014 to speak to the charge.

Further, a 19 year old male, Alex TERMAAT from East Zorra-Tavistock Township ON, was also arrested and charged for Fail to comply with an Undertaking and he has a Sarnia court date of June 9, 2014 to speak to the charge.

A third male, 23 year old Aaron Smythe, also of East Zorra-Tavistock Township, ON has a Sarnia court date of June 11, 2014 to speak to the charge of Possession of Marihuana under 30 grams.
