Amelia FEDERINK Was Arrested

(KAPUSKASING, ON) – A call to police reporting a suspected impaired driver, led to impaired driving and drug possession charges.

On April 20, 2024, shortly before midnight, 12:00 a.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a 911 call reporting a suspected impaired driver on Highway 11 near Fauquier. 

Police located the subject vehicle on Highway 11 in Kapuskasing, and a traffic stop was conducted. Upon speaking with the driver, police observed an object with lines of white powder residue in the vehicle. Police determined that the driver had been consuming an intoxicating substance, and the driver was arrested and transported to the Kapuskasing detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Amelia FEDERINK, 32 years of age of Sudbury, was charged with the following:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Novice driver – presence of drug
  • Possess unmarked cigarettes

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on June 3, 2024 in Kapuskasing. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Billy JOHANSON Was Arrested

(WEST NIPISSING, ON) – One person was arrested and charged for impaired driving after police conducted a traffic stop.

On April 26, 2024, shortly before 9:00 p.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conduct a traffic stop with a vehicle on Highway 17, West Nipissing.

While speaking with the driver, police observed open liquor in the vehicle and it was determined that the driver had consumed alcohol. The driver was arrested for impaired driving, then transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Billy JOHANSON, 52 years-of-age, from Dokis First Nation, was charged with, operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, and driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

The accused was release and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 6, 2024, in North Bay.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – Two individuals have been charged following separate investigations into incidents of impaired driving.

At approximately 10:41 a.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment investigated a two-vehicle collision on Simcoe Street in Middleton, Norfolk County. No injuries were reported.

After the collision, which took place in the parking lot of a business, one of the vehicles fled the scene.

Responding officers later found the vehicle at a location on Highway 3 in Middleton, Norfolk County.

After assessing the driver’s sobriety at the roadside, the driver was taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offence is 59-year-old Allan SULTAN of Norfolk County:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

Around 12:04 p.m. on the same day, officers from the Norfolk County OPP Detachment responded to a 9-1-1 call about a potential impaired driver on Cockshutt Road in Townsend, Norfolk County.

Shortly after, the responding officers located the vehicle on Cockshutt Road in Townsend, Norfolk County.

After assessing the driver’s sobriety at the roadside, the driver was taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 41-year-old Jake WATERS of Glanbrook, Ontario:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

Thomas OLSON Was Arrested

(PICTON, ON) – Members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired after a traffic complaint.

On April 22, 2024 shortly before 8:30 p.m. officers received a traffic complaint. Updated information advised the vehicle had entered the ditch on County Road 2. Officers responded to the area and located the vehicle parked on the shoulder. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the driver who was transported to detachment for further testing.

Thomas OLSON, age 48 from Prince Edward County, was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs.

The driver was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date. They also had their licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven.

William CODDINGTON – Impaired Driving

(NIPIGON, ON) – On April 23, 2024, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Nipigon Detachment conducted a proactive traffic stop resulting in one person being arrested and criminally charged with impaired operation and driving while under suspension.

At approximately 4:00 p.m., members of the Nipigon OPP Detachment were on general patrol in the Town of Nipigon in the area of Greenmantle Drive. A traffic stop was conducted. The driver was found to be a suspended driver and additionally performed a roadside Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) to which the driver failed. The driver was transported to the Greenstone OPP Detachment for further testing by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).  

As a result of the investigation, William CODDINGTON, 55-years-old of Dorion has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:

·        Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·        Driving While Under Suspension

The accused received a 90-Day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 7 Day Vehicle Impoundment.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Nipigon on May 14, 2024, to answer to the above charges.

William CAMERON – Hit & Run, Impaired Driving

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – Driver charged with Impaired after vehicle leaves roadway and enters ditch.

On April 19, 2024, at 5:27 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to Thorndale Road in Thames Centre, for the report of a single vehicle that left the roadway and entered the ditch.

The driver fled the scene, however, was located a short distance from the collision scene.

The driver was placed under arrest without incident.

As a result, William CAMERON, a 29-year-old of Brantford, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act, Liquor Licence Control Act and Cannabis Control Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Dangerous operation

·      Fail to remain

·      Driving motor vehicle with unsealed container of liquor

·      Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on June 17, 2024.

Kyle CHAPMAN Was Arrested

(HUNTSVILLE, ON) – The Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged a driver after a report of a vehicle off the road.

On April 17, 2024, at approximately 7:30 a.m., police received a report of a single motor vehicle off the road on Centre Street in the Town of Huntsville.

As a result of the investigation, Kyle CHAPMAN, 35 years of age, from Armour Township was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the purpose of trafficking

·      Driving while under suspension 

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on June 4, 2024.

David REIMER Was Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual was charged following an investigation into an incident of impaired driving.

At approximately 11:12 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2024, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County and Oxford County Detachments responded to and investigated a single-vehicle collision at a location on Colonel Talbot Road in Middleton, Norfolk County. No injuries were reported.

After assessing the driver’s sobriety at the roadside, the driver was taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 21-year-old David REIMER of Norfolk County:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Young driver – B.A.C. above zero,
  • Dangerous operation.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

70 Year Old Arrested After Leaving Bar

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – A local driver was arrested with refusing to provide a breath sample after leaving a local bar.

On April 11, 2024, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on general patrol when they stopped a vehicle to check the driver’s sobriety after leaving a bar on Philip Walk in Elliot Lake.

Police stopped the white pick-up truck and spoke to the driver. The driver was provided plenty of opportunity to provide a sample of breath but refused to do so. The uncooperative driver was arrested and the pick-up truck was subsequently towed and impounded.

Raymond CARRIERE, 70-years-old, from Elliot Lake was charged with – Failure or refusal to comply with demand.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on June 13, 2024.

Justin BELANGER – Impaired Operation & Firearm

(HARLEY TOWNSHIP, ON) – A driver from Kirkland Lake has been charged after the report of a suspected impaired driver on Highway 11, Harley Township.

On April 9, 2024, shortly before 7:20 p.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a suspected impaired driver on Highway 11 in Harley Township.

The OPP located the subject vehicle and investigation revealed that the driver was impaired by drug. The driver was arrested and transported to the Temiskaming Detachment for an evaluation by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).

During the investigation, police seized a rifle, suspected Methamphetamine, suspected Fentanyl, suspected Ketamine, suspected Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD) and various drug paraphernalia.

Justin BELANGER, 35 years-of-age of Kirkland Lake has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – 3 counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 7, 2024. He was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Samuel RUTHERFORD Was Arrested

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – The Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged one driver with impaired operation related offences as the result of a traffic complaint.

On April 8, 2024, just after 8:00 p.m., officers from the Dufferin OPP responded to a call for service for a possible impaired driver in the area of HWY 10 and Fourth Avenue in the Town of Orangeville. Officers located the suspect and were quickly led into an impaired operation investigation. 

Samuel RUTHERFORD, a 27-year-old male, from Lindsay has been charged with:

•     Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

•     Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville to answer to the charges. Their driver’s licence was suspended, and the vehicle was impounded.

William FAIR Was Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual was charged following an investigation into an incident of impaired driving.

At approximately 4:38 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment responded to a 9-1-1 call from a concerned citizen regarding a possible impaired driver on Windham Road 13 in Windham, Norfolk County.

Shortly after receiving the call, patrolling officers located vehicle at a location on Windham Road 13.

After assessing the driver’s sobriety at the roadside, the driver was taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offence is 73-year-old William FAIR of Norfolk County:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.

Driving On Sidewalk, Honking Horn & Death Threats Leads To Arrest – Repeat Offender Arrested

(KAPUSKASING, ON) On April 8, 2024, shortly after 1:30 p.m., the James Bay OPP received three separate calls reporting a suspected impaired driver in a pick-up truck on Brunetville Road in Kapuskasing.

Callers reported aggressive driving, driving onto the sidewalk, and the driver honking at everyone. Police located the driver and vehicle on Lemarier Street in Kapuskasing, and determined that the driver had been consuming an intoxicating substance. The driver was arrested and transported to the Kapuskasing detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Nikolas VALLIERE, 23 years of age of Kapuskasing, was charged with the following:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Dangerous operation

·        Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm

·        Trafficking a schedule I substance – Cocaine

·        Trafficking a schedule IV substance – lorazepam

·        Assault a peace officer

·        Failure to comply with a release order (four counts)

The accused remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kapuskasing.

Both accused persons were issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and their vehicles were impounded for seven days.

Tony OSMOND – Impaired Driving

(KAPUSKASING, ON) – In two separate incidents, James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to traffic complaints leading to impaired charges.

On April 8, 2024, shortly before 12:00 p.m., a concerned citizen approached the James Bay OPP in Kapuskasing to report a suspected impaired driver of a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) on Highway 11. 

The OPP was able to locate the subject CMV, which was travelling east bound out of Kapuskasing on Highway 11. Upon speaking with the driver, police determined that the driver had been consuming an intoxicating substance. The driver was arrested and transported to the Kapuskasing detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Tony OSMOND, 54 years of age of West Saint Paul, MB, was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on June 17, 2024 in Kapuskasing.

Sydney BAIRD – Impaired Driving

(ESPANOLA, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged following a traffic stop in Espanola.

On April 8, 2024, shortly after 8:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting general patrol in the Town of Espanola. Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on James Street for a Highway Traffic Act violation.

Upon speaking with the driver, police were able to determine the driver was impaired. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Sydney BAIRD, 26-years-old from Baldwin Township has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance – two counts
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on May 6, 2024.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
