Lugor L JADA – Impaired Driving

(PUSLINCH TWP, ON) – On April 8, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Brock Road South, in Puslinch Township. 

It was reported that a white sedan was driving in an erratic manner on Brock Road South north of Highway 401. Just prior to police arrival, the same vehicle was involved in collision with a passenger van. No injuries were reported.

As a result of the investigation, Lugor L JADA, 53-years-old of Kitchener, was charged with:

– Operation While Impaired – alcohol and drugs contrary to the Criminal Code

– Operation While Impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus

– Adult Novice Drive- blood alcohol concentration above zero

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph, on April 25, 2025.

Daniel HINCE – Impaired Operation

(KAPUSKASING, ON) – A traffic stop for a traffic light violation in Kapuskasing led to impaired driving charges.

On Sunday, April 6, 2025, at approximately 12:30 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle on Government Road for failing to stop at an amber light. During the investigation, officers observed signs of impairment and arrested the driver. The individual was transported to the Kapuskasing detachment for further testing.

As a result, Daniel HINCE 58 years-of-age from Kapuskasing, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – drug

·        Operation while impaired – blood drug concentration

·        Amber light – fail to stop

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 26, 2025, in Kapuskasing. Additionally, they received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

3 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(SAULT STE. MARIE, ON) – The Sault Ste. Marie detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated three impaired driving incidents on Friday, April 4, 2025. Three drivers were charged with a total of six criminal offences.

At approximately 10:23 a.m., a Sault Ste. Marie OPP officer was conducting general patrol on Spring Street in Sault Ste. Marie, when their Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system alerted them to a possible stolen vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted, where the officer determined the vehicle was not stolen, but the driver had consumed alcoholic beverages. As a result, Lisa MCCORMICK, 42 years-of-age, of Batchewana First Nation was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 12, 2025 in Sault Ste. Marie. The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

At approximately 9:00 p.m., a Sault Ste. Marie OPP officer was conducting general patrol on Highway 17 in Goulais River, when they observed a motor vehicle that failed to turn off its high beams when passing the police cruiser, obstructing the officer’s view. A traffic stop was conducted, and investigation determined the driver had consumed alcoholic beverages. As a result, Justen JOSEPH, 38 years-of-age, of Goulais River was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 21, 2025 in Sault Ste. Marie. The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

At approximately 9:34 p.m., Sault Ste. Marie OPP officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint on Lake George Road in Laird. Officers stopped multiple vehicles and conducted Mandatory Alcohol Screening (MAS) tests on the drivers. During the RIDE, one driver failed the MAS test, indicating the presence of alcohol in their system. As a result of further investigation, Robert DESCHAMPS, 62 years-of-age, of Laird was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 21, 2025 in Sault Ste. Marie. The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Sandra CARPENTIER Was Arrested

(SHELBURNE, ON) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an Orton resident with impaired operation related offences as the result of a traffic complaint.

On March 31, 2025, just before 3:30 p.m., Dufferin OPP officers were dispatched to the area of Centre Street in the Town of Shelburne for a female who was believed to be impaired behind the wheel of a motor vehicle. Officers were able to locate the accused shortly thereafter. After a brief conversation, the officers quickly identified signs that led them to initiate an impaired driving investigation.

Sandra CARPENTIER, a 58-year-old female, from Orton has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused individual is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville. Their driver’s licence was suspended, and their vehicle impounded.

Bruce ASHICK – Impaired Operation

(NORTH ALGONA WILBERFORCE TWP, ON) – A driver is facing Criminal Code (CC) charges after an incident in the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment area.

On April 6, 2025, at approximately 1:50 a.m., an OPP officer on patrol discovered a vehicle with three occupants in the ditch on Rankin Rink Road in North Algona Wilberforce (NAW) Township. No injuries were reported. As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing. 

As a result of this incident 58-year-old Bruce ASHICK of Laurentian Valley Township has been charged with the following CC offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on May 5, 2025.

Amy JOHNSTON Was Arrested

(LONDON, ON) – Driver facing impaired charge after vehicle leaves road and enters ditch.

On April 4, 2025, at 8:19 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to the Eastbound Lanes of Highway 402 at Woodhull Road in the City of London for the report of a single vehicle collision.

The driver of the vehicle was placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex County OPP detachment.

As a result, Amy JOHNSTON, a 46-year-old of Wallaceburg, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Cannabis Control Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – drugs

·      Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis in open baggage

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on May 20, 2025.

The Middlesex OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.

22 Year Old From Owen Sound Arrested

(MONO, ON) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an Orangeville resident with impaired operation related offences as the result of a traffic complaint.

On April 5, 2025, just before 6:30 p.m., Dufferin OPP officers were dispatched to a call for service in the area of Highway 10 in the Town of Mono. Officers were able to locate the accused shortly thereafter. After a brief conversation, the officers quickly identified signs that led them to initiate an impaired driving investigation.

Vincent RATTANATRAY, a 22-year-old male, from Owen Sound has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

•       Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code

•      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

•      Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code

•      Possess unmarked cigarettes

•      Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

•      Fail to surrender insurance card

•      Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

The accused individual is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville. Their driver’s licence was suspended, and their vehicle impounded.

Michael SERVICE – Was Arrested After Failing To Stop

NEW TECUMSETH, ON) – Officers from the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving after failing to stop at a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program in the Town of New Tecumseth.

On April 6, 2025, shortly after 1:00 a.m., Nottawasaga OPP Officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. program on King Street North and Essa Road in Alliston. Officers observed a dark coloured passenger vehicleapproach the R.I.D.E stop-Check at a high-rate of speed, with no indication of slowing down or stopping. As the motor vehicle passed through the check-stop police verbally yelled at the driver who then pulled over approximately 50 meters south of the R.I.D.E. 

After a brief conversation with the driver, the smell of an alcoholic beverage was noted on the drivers breath. Additionally, officers observed the male driver to have bloodshot, watery eyes and slurred speech. When officers asked for the driver to produce his drivers licence, the male began struggling to get the licence out of his wallet, eventually dropping it on the ground, not being able to produce it. Officers demanded the driver to exit the motor vehicle and was observed to be unsteady on his feet. Based on the numerous observed signs of intoxication and impairment, The driver was arrested and charged with operation while impaired.

At 1:17 a.m. Michael SERVICE 28-years-old from Orangeville, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 1, 2025.

Shane WEBB – Impaired Operation Causing Bodily Harm

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one driver after a dangerous situation in the town of Bracebridge.

On April 3, 2025 just before 11:00 p.m. Bracebridge OPP officers, along with Bracebridge Fire and Muskoka EMS, responded to 9-1-1 calls about a single-vehicle-collision that occurred on Manitoba Street. The involved vehicle was reportedly seen swerving on the road and left the roadway, collided with a tree, and landed on its roof. Emergency crews assisted in extricating the occupants and the female passenger was transported to hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. The driver was also transported to hospital with minor injuries.

Police have charged 41-year-old Shane WEBB of Bracebridge, ON with Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm CC 320.13(2), Operation While Impaired Causing Bodily Harm CC 320.14(2) and Failure or Refusal To Comply with Demand-Bodily Harm CC 320.15(2). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge, on May 13, 2025 to answer to his charges.

Gregory DAVEY – Impaired Driving

(DOURO-DUMMER TOWNSHIP, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged an individual with impaired driving after receiving a call regarding a collision.

On March 31, 2025, at approximately 6:00pm, Peterborough County OPP Officers were dispatched to a report of a collision that took place on county Road 4 in Douro-Dummer Township. Upon arrival, officers located a pickup truck with its front end in the ditch. The officer approached the vehicle and observed a lone occupant in the vehicle in the driver’s seat. While speaking with the driver, an open bottle of liquor was observed, and the driver was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to the Peterborough County OPP detachment for further testing resulting in readings over three times the legal limit.

Gregory DAVEY (age 66) of Douro-Dummer Township, ON., was arrested and charged with;

·      Operation while impaired

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code

The accused had their drivers licence further suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on May 6, 2025

Brandace GAUDET Facing Numerous Charges

(OTTAWA, ON) – A member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team has charged an individual from Woodlawn Ontario with drug and impaired driving related offences after a traffic stop on Highway 417.

Shortly before 10:30 a.m. on March 31, the OPP TIME Team member stopped a vehicle on Highway 417 near Panmure Rd, after the officer noticed that the vehicle did not have two licence plates. Upon stopping the vehicle, the officer noted an odour of alcohol on the driver. A roadside screening device was utilized and as a result, the driver was brought back to Ottawa Detachment for a breath test. The driver registered twice the legal limit. A search of the vehicle also turned up cannabis and unstamped cigarettes.

Brandace GAUDET, 49 years of age faces the following charges:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor
  • Have Care or Control of a Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available
  • Possess Unmarked Cigarettes
  • Drive Motor Vehicle, No Currently Validated Permit
  • Entire Plate not Plainly Visible
  • Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle
  • Fail to Surrender Licence

Gaudet was issued a 90-day driving suspension and had her vehicle impounded for seven days. She is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

This stop comes at the start of Operation Plate Week where police are targeting vehicles with tinted plate covers, plates that have become unreadable due to peeling or rust, vehicles without proper plates and any other licence plate violations. The operation continues through April 6 and is a combined effort between Ottawa OPP, Upper Ottawa Valley OPP, Renfrew OPP and the OPP TIME Team.

5 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – The Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have been busy with impaired driving offences after multiple incidents saw five drivers charged with impaired driving over a period of three days.

On March 21, 2025, at approximately 2:45 a.m., members of the Temiskaming OPP were on patrol when they located a vehicle in the ditch at a local business on Highway 65 East in Temiskaming Shores.

As a result of the investigation, Eric MIRON, 30 years-of-age of New Liskeard, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Drive motor vehicle -perform a stunt

On March 22, 2025, at approximately 4:00 p.m., members of the Temiskaming OPP were on patrol when they stopped a motor vehicle for a traffic violation, on West Road in Temiskaming Shores.

As a result of the investigation, Tiffany AUBE, 34 years-of-age of Notre Dame du Nord, Quebec, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driver fail to surrender licence
  • Speeding

On March 22, 2025, at approximately 9:55 p.m., members of the Temiskaming OPP responded a traffic complaint of a possible impaired, on King Street in Temiskaming Shores. Moments later, officers located the vehicle and the driver at a residence on Watson Place in Cobalt.

As a result of the investigation, Kyle MURASKA, 39 years-of-age of Cobalt, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On March 23, 2025, at approximately 3:00 a.m., members of the Temiskaming OPP responded a vehicle in the ditch on Poupore Road in Armstrong Township.

As a result of the investigation, Jason BISSONNETTE, 29 years-of-age of Cobourg, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while prohibited under criminal code – two counts
  • Driving while under suspension – two counts

On March 23, 2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m., members of the Temiskaming OPP responded to a traffic complaint on Lakeshore Road in Temiskaming Shores.

As a result of the investigation, Gary LATHEM, 69 years-of-age of North Cobalt, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The drivers were issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and all vehicles have been impounded.

The accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury to answer to the charges in the upcoming weeks.

Wesley FAVERO – Impaired Driving

(MAPLETON TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charge an Arthur resident with offences in relation to an impaired driving investigation.

On March 28, 2025, at approximately 3:50 a.m., members of the Wellington County OPP responded to a traffic complaint of a vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 6 north of Fergus. Officers arrived in the area, located the motor vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Highway 6 near Sideroad 9, south of Arthur.

As a result of the investigation, Wesley FAVERO, a 39-year-old of Arthur is charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 45-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice-Guelph on April 8, 2025.

April WYNNE Was Arrested Again

(COCHRANE, ON) – A routine patrol by James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Cochrane resulted in an impaired driving charge after officers stopped a vehicle linked to an unlicensed driver.

On March 29, 2025 at approximately 1:30 a.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting general patrol on Sixth Street, when the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system flagged a vehicle registered to an unlicensed driver. Police conducted a traffic stop on First Avenue and determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol. The individual was arrested and transported to the Timmins Police Service detachment for further testing.

As a result, April WYNNE 37 years-of-age from Cochrane, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration

·        Failure to comply with release order

·        Drive motor vehicle – no licence

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 15, 2025, in Cochrane. Additionally, they received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Robert WEAVER Was Arrested

(ESPANOLA, ON) – One person has been arrested for impaired operation at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check.

On March 30, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE check at the intersection of Lee Valley Road and Barber Street in Espanola. A vehicle came through the RIDE, and an investigation was initiated. As a result, the driver was arrested for impaired operation.

The driver, Robert WEAVER, 30-years-old from Webbwood, was charged with operation while impaired – drugs.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on May 5, 2025.
