Home Invasion – 2 Arrested

(NIPIGON, ON) – Two individuals are facing a lengthy list of charges following two Break and Enters and Robbery in the Town of Nipigon.

On August 15, 2024, around 2:20am members of the Nipigon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a 911 call in the area of Hogan Road, Nipigon Township where they located two injured males. Further investigation revealed a second residence had been broken into by the same two suspects.

Around 9:00am, members of the Nipigon OPP Detachment located the two male suspects who were arrested without incident.

As a result of the investigation, Christopher BARNES-ODAWA, 32-years-old, of Nipigon ON has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code (CC) with:

·        Assault Causing Bodily Harm, two counts

·       Utter Threats to cause death or bodily harm

·        Break, Enter Dwelling House with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence, two counts

·        Robbery with Theft

·        Mischief Under $5,000, two counts

Rodney WAWIA, 40-years-old, of Nipigon, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code (CC) with:

·        Assault Causing bodily harm, two counts

·        Break, Enter Dwelling House with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence, two counts

·        Robbery with Theft

·        Mischief Under $5,000, two counts

The accused are being held in custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay at a later date.

Home Invasion & Abduction: One Arrested

(ORILLIA, ON) – A man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for his involvement in the kidnapping of Elnaz HAJTAMIRI has been apprehended on an unrelated warrant in the United States.

On August 5, 2024, Deshawn DAVIS was apprehended in Redway, California, by the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force and deputy U.S. marshals in the Northern District of California. DAVIS had been added to the Bolo Program’s Canada’s 25 Most Wanted and the USMS’ 15 Most Wanted Fugitive lists this year.

On January 12, 2022, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an abduction from a residence on Trailwood Place in Wasaga Beach. The suspects, described as three black males dressed in police gear, but not actual police uniforms, claimed to be there to arrest the victim. When the homeowner became suspicious and tried to call 9-1-1, he was overpowered and the victim was abducted. The suspects fled in a vehicle described as a white sport utility vehicle (SUV), believed to be a Lexus RX. Elnaz has not been seen since the abduction.

The victim, 37-year-old at the time, Elnaz HAJTAMIRI (also goes by the surname TAMIRI), is described as female, 160 cm (5’3″) tall, slim build, with shoulder-length black hair. Photos of Elnaz are available at opp.ca/news/#/mediakit.

Investigators will continue to collaborate with law enforcement in the United States to further the investigation into the kidnapping of Elnaz.

Violent Home Invasion: Kiefer CLARKE Arrested

(ELGIN COUNTY, ON) – Members of the Elgin County OPP Crime Unit have arrested an individual related to an ongoing home invasion investigation that began in June of 2022.

On Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at approximately 3:28 p.m., officers responded to a report of an assault at a Fingal Line, Southwold Township address.

It was determined that an unknown individual arrived at the residence posing as a delivery person and then forcibly entered the residence after the door was opened by the homeowner. A physical altercation then ensured when a second unknown person entered the home and began to assault the owner.

Both suspects fled from the residence in an unknown direction in a black coloured, long styled sedan.

The victim was transported to a local area hospital and treated for serious non-life-threatening injuries.

On April 10, 2024, as a result of the ongoing investigation, members of the Elgin County OPP Crime Unit charged Kiefer CLARKE, a 20-year-old from Cambridge, with the following:

  • Robbery with intent
  • Unlawfully in dwelling house
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Administer noxious thing
  • Robbery with intent to steal a firearm

The accused was held for a bail hearing, has since been released, and scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Thomas on May 7, 2024.

The Elgin County OPP Crime Unit is continuing to investigate to determine the identity of the other involved individual.

Video Of Home Invasion Released


Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit have charged two men and recovered a stolen vehicle following a home invasion in the City of Markham.

On Saturday, April 12, 2024, at approximately 4 p.m., police were called to a home in the area of Steeles Avenue East and Henderson Avenue for a home invasion. When they arrived at the residence, the victim reported two armed men broke into her house and threatened to kill her while demanding money. The suspects fled in a white sports utility vehicle (SUV). The victim was not injured.

Through investigation, it was learned the SUV was stolen earlier that day from the City of Orillia.

Investigators were able to locate the stolen vehicle, with the assistance of our Air Support Unit and the Toronto Police Service (TPS). The suspects were located on foot in a mall in Toronto and taken into custody.

Charged:

  • Wylie GABRIEL, 18, of no fixed address
  • Andrew PARSONS, 24, of Toronto 

Charges:

  • Robbery with Firearm
  • Disguise with Intent
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Mischief Over $5,000

PARSONS was on two release orders and wanted by TPS at the time of these offences.

Home Invasion: Brian Pettit Arrested

LONDON, ON (April 15, 2024) – A London man is in custody after members of the London Police Service responded to a break and enter investigation in the east end of the city.

At approximately 5 p.m., on Saturday, April 13, 2024, a homeowner returned to their residence and found a broken window and a male suspect still inside the home. The homeowner called 9-1-1 to a report the break and enter in the area of Hamilton Road and Rectory Street.

The suspect male fled the residence on foot before police arrived.

Police were provided with a description of the male.

Officers located and arrested the male a short distance away.

No injuries were reported.

A search of the man yielded the reported stolen items.

As a result of the investigation, Brian Pettit, 40, of London has been charged with the following offences:

  • Break enter and theft;
  • Uttering threats/death or bodily harm; and,
  • Resist arrest.

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to re-appear in London court today in relation to the charges.

Armed Home Invasion – Suspects At Large

Chatham-Kent, Ontario: On March 25, 2024 at 8:20 p.m., the Chatham-Kent Police Service responded to a robbery on Fairview Line near Communication Road, in Chatham.

Two individuals, wearing disguises and brandishing a weapon, forcefully entered a residence, and demanded money. Varies items were taken by the individuals. The homeowners were not injured in the incident and have been provided with supports.

Officers conducted a perimeter search of the area, utilizing the K9 unit and the drone. The suspects remain outstanding.

The Criminal Investigation Branch is actively investigating the incident and gathering information. We are urging anyone in the area with surveillance cameras to check their footage. Armed Home Invasion & Kidnapping – Suspects At Large

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is investigating an armed home invasion in Milton.

At approximately 2:00 am on March 21, 2024, a group of suspects broke into a home in the area of Clark Boulevard and Lancaster Boulevard in Milton. A male resident was awoken by the noise and confronted a male suspect near the bedroom.

The suspect pointed a gun at the resident and demanded cash or jewelry. A total of three suspects were seen in the house. The resident advised the males that there was no cash or valuables in the home and was then directed at gunpoint into his own truck idling in the driveway with a fourth suspect waiting behind the wheel. The resident was forced into the passenger seat while two suspects got into the back and another drove a stolen white BMW X5M vehicle the suspects arrived in.

The suspects drove the resident in his own truck a short distance from the house before he was told to get out.

In total, the suspects stole the resident’s Dodge RAM pickup truck, wallet and cell phone.

The residents did not sustain any physical injuries.

Descriptions for two of the armed suspects who entered the home are below. Descriptions for the other two suspects are not available.

Suspect 1:

Male, black, mid 20’s, approximately 5’10’ to 6’0’’ tall. Wearing a ski mask and dark clothing.

Suspect 2:

Male, black, late teens to early 20’s, thin build, and approximately 5’8” tall.

Violent Home Invasion

(SELYWN TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a home invasion on Fife’s Bay Road at approximately 5:00am this morning.

Three male suspects wearing masks forcefully entered the residence and proceeded to search the various rooms. The lone occupant in the residence was bound while the suspects stole items in the house. After the suspects left, the occupant was able to free themselves and police were contacted. Minor injuries were reported.

Investigators are actively looking for information that may lead to the suspects in this case. Police urge the public to call in tips on this case, or others, to the Peterborough County OPP Crime Unit at 705-742-0401, the non-emergency line (888) 310-1122 or to Crime Stoppers.
