Tahra MOORE – Theft

(SELWYN TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called at approximately 1:30pm on March 24, 2024, to investigate a theft of alcohol from a business located in Selwyn Township. The complainant reported that the suspect concealed two bottles of liquor on their person and then left the store making no effort to pay for them.

OPP Officers located the person a short distance away from the store, and based on the description provided from the complainant, were able to identify the suspect and make an arrest.  

Tahra MOORE (age 34) of Curve Lake, was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft under $5000-shoplifting

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on May 7, 2024.

Robert CARROLL – Drunk Driving

(SELWYN TOWNSHIP, ON) – A driver has been charged with Impaired driving after their vehicle was stopped for speeding on Fife’s Bay Road.

On March 10, 2024, at approximately 7:15pm, the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle for speeding on Fife’s Bay Road in Selwyn Township. While dealing with the driver, the officer detected an odour of alcohol and made an Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand. The driver provided a sample of his breath and as a result was arrested.

Robert CARROLL (age 44) of Peterborough, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Speeding

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on April 23, 2024.

The Peterborough County OPP reminds motorists to plan ahead when consuming alcohol or drugs. Use a designated driver, cab, public transit, or stay overnight. Any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.

Violent Home Invasion

(SELYWN TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a home invasion on Fife’s Bay Road at approximately 5:00am this morning.

Three male suspects wearing masks forcefully entered the residence and proceeded to search the various rooms. The lone occupant in the residence was bound while the suspects stole items in the house. After the suspects left, the occupant was able to free themselves and police were contacted. Minor injuries were reported.

Investigators are actively looking for information that may lead to the suspects in this case. Police urge the public to call in tips on this case, or others, to the Peterborough County OPP Crime Unit at 705-742-0401, the non-emergency line (888) 310-1122 or to Crime Stoppers.
