Update: 12 Year Old Cyclist Now Deceased

(WELLINGTON NORTH TOWNSHIP, ON) – A 12-year-old child is in critical condition in hospital following a collision near Mount Forest.

On May 10, 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Wellington North Fire Service, and Guelph Wellington Paramedics Service, responded to a farm property in the vicinity of Highway 6 and Sideroad 2, south of Mount Forest.

It was reported that a child riding on a bicycle collided with a skid steer.

The child was transported to a trauma hospital by Ornge air ambulance.

On May 12, 2025, the victim died in hospital as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.

Drowning In Paisley

(ARRAN-ELDERSLIE, ON) – One person has died following a drowning incident that occurred on the Saugeen River in Paisley.

On May 12, 2025, at 1:31 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Bruce County Paramedic Services and the Arran-Elderslie Fire & Emergency Services responded to a report of an individual in distress in the Saugeen River.

The individual was brought to the shore by members of the public and lifesaving measures commenced.

A 25-year-old from Georgetown was pronounced deceased. The victim’s identity will not be released due to privacy of the family.

Fatal Collision On Hwy 7


(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON)
 – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal collision that took place around 10:28am on May 10, 2025.

City of Kawartha Lakes OPP, Kawartha Lakes Police Service along with fire and EMS were dispatched to a collision on Highway 7 near Double Tree Road. The driver of a motorcycle from Lindsay, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer was taken to local hospital.  

Highway 7 remains closed between Highway 35 and County Road 36 while members trained in collision reconstruction measured and documented the scene. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed or has video/dash camera footage of the collision and has not spoken with police is asked to contact the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.

Police Investigate Death Of Infant

(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) – The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating the death of an infant.

On Tuesday, October 1, 2024, shortly before 9:00 a.m., the Manitoulin OPP and the Sudbury-Manitoulin Paramedic Services responded to a report of an unresponsive infant at a residence in Burpee Township. The infant was transported to a local hospital by paramedics and later pronounced deceased.

Following forensic testing, the Manitoulin OPP Crime Unit is now conducting the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. Assistance is being provided by OPP Forensic Identification Services.

As the investigation remains ongoing, no further details can be released at this time. More information will be provided when it becomes available.

One Dead – Singh VARINDER Arrested

(KENORA, ON) – The Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges following a fatal collision that occurred on February 20, 2024.

On February 20, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., members of the Kenora OPP Detachment, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 17A involving a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) and passenger sport utility vehicle (SUV).

The driver of the CMV was pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger of the CMV was transported to hospital by EMS to be treated for life-threatening injuries. The driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Singh VARINDER, 31-years-old of Brampton, Ontario, has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

·      Dangerous Operation causing bodily harm

·      Dangerous Operation causing death

The accused has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on May 12, 2025.

Traffic safety remains a top priority of the OPP and is a key component of the OPP’s public safety mandate. Investigations resulting in the loss of life and serious injuries can be complex to investigate. As the vast majority of fatal collisions are preventable, thorough and accurate investigations help ensure that motorists who cause these collisions are held accountable for their driving behaviours. Missing Snowmobiler Found Deceased

(SOUTH PORCUPINE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has located the body of a missing snowmobiler on Horwood Lake.

On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, members of the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) and the Northeast Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) located the body of the 40-year-old Timmins resident who had been reported missing in April. The OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit is now supporting the investigation.

A post-mortem examination is being scheduled at a later date.

As previously reported, on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at 6:30 p.m., the South Porcupine OPP responded to a report of an overdue person who was operating a motorized snow vehicle (MSV) on Horwood Lake in Horwood Township, approximately 70 kilometers west of Timmins.

The South Porcupine OPP, ERT, OPP Aviation Services, and USRU were involved in the search efforts.

Missing Person Found Deceased

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment is currently investigating the discovery of human remains in the Township of Laurentian Valley.

On April 26, 2025, shortly before 3:30 p.m., the OPP was notified when human remains were discovered in the area of Paul Martin Drive by a local resident.

The remains have been identified as Diego SARRIA of Ottawa. He was reported missing in January 2023 and was 54 at the time of his disappearance. A postmortem examination has not determined the exact cause of death and further forensic testing is being conducted.

Foul play is not suspected, and investigators believe there is no threat to public safety.

The UOV OPP Crime Unit is leading the investigation, with support from the Forensic Identification Services unit, Emergency Response Team and the Canine Unit, in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

30 Year Old Found Dead – Police Seeking Person Of Interest

(LOYALIST TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a death in the Odessa area of Loyalist Township.

On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, shortly after 10:00 a.m., officers were called to a residence on Potter Drive where a 30-year-old woman had been found deceased.

While a postmortem examination has found no indication of foul play, the investigation is continuing into the circumstances surrounding the death.

Investigators are looking to speak to an individual who may have been involved in an earlier incident involving the deceased. There is believed to be no threat to public safety.

One Dead – Dharmpal SINGH Arrested

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – The Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges following a fatal collision that occurred on January 24, 2024.

On January 24, 2024, shortly after 11:00 p.m., members of the Thunder Bay OPP Detachment, the North West Region T.I.M.E. Team (Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement) along with Emergency Medical Services, responded to a collision on Highway 17 in Upsala. One individual was pronounced deceased, and two individuals were injured and taken to a local hospital.

As a result of the investigation, Dharmpal SINGH, 30-years-old of Abbotsford, British Columbia, has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

·        Dangerous operation causing death

·        Dangerous operation causing bodily harm

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on May 2, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.

One Dead – Candace McFARLANE Arrested

(ARDOCH, ON) – An individual has been arrested and charged following an investigation into a fatal an all-terrain vehicle rollover.

On October 24, 2024, around 3:30 p.m., members of the Frontenac Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), assisted by the North Frontenac Fire Service and the Frontenac Paramedic Service, responded to the incident on Greer Road, in North Frontenac Township.

An individual spotted an overturned ATV in a ditch and then located an injured person. That individual, a nine-year-old girl from the area, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, Candace McFARLANE, a 35-year-old from North Frontenac Township, was charged with causing death by criminal negligence.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston on June 24, 2025.

19 Year Old Found Deceased

(BANCROFT, ON) – The Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is continuing to investigate a suspected drowning in the Bancroft area.

On Monday, April 28, 2025, shortly after 10:30 a.m. emergency services were dispatched to Faraday Lake for reports of a capsized canoe. When emergency crews arrived on scene there was one occupant of the canoe that was unaccounted for. Two other males had safely made it to shore.

The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit located a body and confirmed it to be the occupant of the canoe. They have been identified as a 19-year-old male from Scarborough.

The individual had not been wearing a life jacket.

The water is still very cold making it more challenging if you fall in.

The OPP calls on everyone to ALWAYS wear a PFD or life jacket when on the water.

Missing American Found Deceased

(EMO, ON) – A body recovered from the Rainy River near the Town of Emo has been positively identified as a US citizen missing since December 28th, 2024.

On January 11th, 2025, the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a request from the International Falls Police Department to assist with a missing person investigation. US law enforcement believed the missing person had attempted to cross into Canada at a location other than a Port of Entry.

A body located in the Rainy River on April 16th, 2025, has been positively identified as 59-year-old, US Citizen Michael TJOSAAS.

Investigation by the Fort Frances OPP in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, with assistance from the OPP Fort Frances Crime Unit, the OPP Forensic Identification Service and the International Falls Police Department has concluded. The cause of death is consistent with drowning. Foul play is not suspected.

Fatal Collision

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – An individual has died following a collision involving a passenger vehicle and a pedestrian.

On April 26, 2025, at approximately 10:45 p.m., members from the Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision on Highway 19, South-West Oxford Township.

The investigation determined that a pedestrian was struck on the stretch of road between Keswick Road and Ostrander Road.

A 61-year-old from South-West Oxford Township was transported to hospital with life threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased.

The driver of the vehicle reported no injuries.

The road was closed for several hours to facilitate the investigation but has since re-opened.

The Oxford OPP with the assistance of West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team continue to investigate the collision.

Death Being Investigated By OPP

(Midland, ON) – The Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a death in Midland.

Officers were called to a residence on Glen Bogie Crescent shortly after 7:00 p.m. on April 27, 2025, where one person was located injured, transported to hospital, and later pronounced as deceased.

While the cause of death cannot yet be confirmed, investigators believe there is no imminent threat to public safety, although the OPP reminds all members of the public to be aware of their personal safety at all times.

The investigation, assisted by the OPP Emergency Response Team and the OPP Central Region Canine Unit, is in its early stages and no further details can be released at this time. Residents of the area should expect to see a large police presence.

Fourth Scuba Diver Found Deceased

(SOUTH STORMONT TOWNSHIP, ON) – A scuba diver that went missing in the water off the Long Sault Parkway has been located deceased. 

On April 23, 2025, at about 7:45 p.m., Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) OPP officers and South Stormont Fire Services responded to Loch 21, Long Sault Parkway for a missing diver. Four divers entered the water but only three resurfaced.

Additional resources were deployed to assist with the search efforts, including Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service, Hogansburg Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Department, Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department.

On April 24, 2024, around 11:30 a.m., SD&G OPP, assisted by the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU), located and recovered the body of the missing diver. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
