Fatal Collision On HWY 11

(GREENSTONE, ON) – Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision on Highway 11 between Longlac and Hearst.

On the 14th of December, 2024, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Kenora Detachment, along with Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to a collision involving two commercial motor vehicles (CMV) on Highway 11 between Longlac and Hearst.

As a result, two drivers of separate CMV’s were pronounced deceased. Two separate passengers have sustained injuries and were transported to the local hospital.

Highway 11 has been closed for several hours while the North West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team conducts their investigation. The highway will be closed, with updates to be provided when it is reopened.

Fatal Collision

(BARBER TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to investigate a single vehicle collision where a 65-year-old person, from Barber Township has died.

On December 12, 2024, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the Temiskaming OPP, responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 65 West, Barber Township. Police located a turned over vehicle in the ditch. The lone driver of the vehicle was transported to hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced deceased.

 The OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team and the OPP Technical Collision Investigator (TCI) are assisting with the investigation.

 The investigation is ongoing under the direction of the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OCC-OFPS). A postmortem examination is schedule to take place at a later date.

Fatal Collision

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a three-vehicle fatal collision on Highway 10, in the Town of Caledon.

On December 6, 2024, just before 12:00 a.m., Caledon OPP and emergency crews responded to a three-vehicle collision on Highway 10, near Old School Road. One driver and sole occupant, a 44-year-old of Caledon, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The two occupants from the second vehicle were transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre for serious injuries, and two others from the third vehicle were taken local hospital.

Highway 10 Between King Street and Old School Road was closed for several hours while the OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionists assisted with the investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage is asked to contact Caledon OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Fatal Collision

(PERTH EAST, ON) – One person has died following a motor vehicle collision in the Township of Perth East this morning.

On December 5, 2024 just after 6:00 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with Perth County Paramedic Services, and the North Perth Fire Department, responded to a motor vehicle collision on Perth Line 86, between Perth Road 136 and Perth Road 140, in the Township of Perth East to a report of a plow truck that collided with a passenger vehicle.

As a result of the collision a 33-year-old from Gowanstown was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the plow truck was uninjured.

The investigation is ongoing. Members of the West Region OPP Traffic Collision Investigation (TCI) Team and Reconstruction are assisting Perth County OPP with the investigation.

The area of Perth Line 86 between Perth Road 131 and Perth Road 140 remains closed for the protection of emergency responders and to facilitate the investigation, and will likely be closed for a number of hours.

Fatal ATV Incident

 (Mississippi Mills, ON) – A Mississippi Mills Township resident has died from injuries sustained in an ATV collision near Clayton ON.

Officers with the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the scene on Clayton Road in Mississippi Mills Township, shortly before 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2024. The ATV had rolled over on the road.

Members of the Lanark County Paramedic Service conducted life-saving measures at the scene, the rider was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased.

The victim has been identified as a 70-year-old man from the area.

The investigation by the Lanark County OPP is continuing, with assistance from an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and members of the Technical Collision Investigation Team.

Fatal Collision Near Clifford

(MINTO TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on scene of a serious three motor vehicle collision, where one driver was confirmed to be deceased.

On December 2, 2024, at approximately 7:25 a.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), alongside local emergency services, responded to a serious three motor-vehicle collision on Highway 9, just south of the Town of Clifford.

Upon arrival, emergency services located two sport utility vehicles (SUV) and one tractor trailer being involving. As a result of the collision, a 52-year-old of Etobicoke, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Highway 9 had been closed as a result of the collision but has since now been re-opened.

Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (T.I.M.E.) team has been assisting with the investigation. The office of the Chief Coroner was notified and attended the scene. The cause of the collision is still under investigation and anyone with information related to it is asked to call 1-888-310-1122.

Fatal Train Collision

(MUNICIPALITY OF BRIGHTON, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating an incident involving a train and a pedestrian.

On December 2, 2024, shortly after 7:00 p.m., emergency services responded to the collision which occurred in the area of the train tracks on Huff Road in Brighton.

As a result of the collision, a 28-year-old from the Municipality of Brighton, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Foul play is not suspected.

Police are continuing the investigation into the circumstances regarding the incident and are assisted by the OPP Forensic Identification Services (IDENT).

The roadway in the area was closed until approximately 1:00 a.m., on December 3, 2024, to allow for a thorough and proper investigation. The Northumberland OPP would like to thank the public for their patience during this time period.

Fatal Collision

(ASPHODEL-NORWOOD TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews responded to the scene of a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision that occurred on County Road 38 at Dummer Asphodel Road, resulting in one fatality.

Just prior to 3:30pm on December 1, 2024, Peterborough County OPP received a call reporting a serious two-vehicle collision on County Road 38 and Dummer Asphodel Road. Upon arrival, officers observed both vehicles in the north ditch. Fire department was already on scene and were working on extricating the female driver and male passenger from a black SUV. A white pickup truck with a lone driver was also in the ditch.

Witnesses advised that the pickup truck was travelling southbound on County Road 38 and as they were approaching Dummer Asphodel Road, a black SUV traveling westbound, failed to stop for the stop sign resulting in the vehicles colliding.

A 69-year-old male was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced as deceased.

The driver of the black SUV was transported to a local hospital but was later taken by ORNGE Air to a Toronto trauma centre..

The driver of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries.

Roads remained closed for several hours while emergency crews dealt with the collision and police members trained in collision reconstruction, measured and documented the scene.

Fatal Collsion In Morris-Turnberry

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – A single vehicle collision in the Township of Morris-Turnberry has claimed the life of a Huron East resident. 

Just after 6:20 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services, and North Huron Fire Department responded to a collision on Harriston Road in Morris-Turnberry.

Upon arrival, emergency services located a damaged sports utility vehicle and the lone driver. The driver was transported to a local hospital and later transferred to a London hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

The cause of the collision is being investigated. 

The deceased is an 82-year-old resident of Huron East.

Double Fatal Collision

(KENORA, ON) – Police are investigating a fatal three-vehicle collision on Highway 17 near Kenora. 

At approximately 9:00 a.m., on November 25, 2024, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Kenora Detachment, along with Kenora Fire Service and Northwest Emergency Medical Services responded to a collision between three commercial motor vehicles (CMV) on Highway 17A between Beryl Winder Road and Highway 596.

As a result, two drivers of separate CMV’s were pronounced deceased at the scene.

A third driver of a CMV, remained at the scene, reporting only minor injuries.

Highway 17A has been closed for several hours while the North West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team is assisting with the investigation and encourages anyone with pertinent information to contact the Kenora OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Fatal Collision & Fire

(GRAVENHURST, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is asking for the public’s assistance after a collision on Stephenson Road 1 in Bracebridge that resulted in one person’s death.

On Sunday November 17, 2024, just before 2:00 a.m. officers from the Huntsville and Bracebridge OPP detachments, along with Muskoka EMS and Bracebridge Fire Department, responded to reports of a vehicle fire on Stephenson Road 1 East in Bracebridge. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree before catching on fire and the sole occupant, a 41-year-old Port Sydney man, was pronounced deceased.

Fatal Collision

(BROCKTON, ON) – On November 20, 2024, at approximately 8:47 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a motor vehicle collision on Bruce Road 20 at Concession 2, Municipality of Brockton.

Officers responded to the scene with Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to find two passenger vehicles involved in a collision.

Two patients were transported by EMS to a local hospital; a 76-year-old resident of Markdale was later pronounced deceased.

Road closures were placed at the scene for the protection of emergency responders. Bruce Road 20 between Highway 9 and Concession 4 was closed for the duration of the investigation but are now being reopened.

The South Bruce OPP is continuing to investigate the collision along with members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team, and the Coroner’s office.

Fatal Collision

(ESSA, ON) – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a two-vehicle fatal collision in Essa Township.

On November 14, at approximately 8:32 p.m., members of the Nottawasaga OPP, New Tecumseth Fire Department and Simcoe County Paramedics responded to a collision involving a passenger vehicle and a transport truck on Highway 89 between 8th Line and 9th Line.

The investigation revealed that the vehicle and transport truck were travelling in opposite directions on Highway 89 before colliding head on. Sadly, the driver of the passenger vehicle, an 82-year-old from Newmarket, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the transport truck did not sustain injuries.

The road was closed between 8th Line and 9th Line while the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team processed the scene, and was re-opened at 3:02 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information or dashcam footage in the area between 8:00 p.m. and 8:32 p.m. to contact the Nottawasaga OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

3 Dead Following Collision

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – A two-vehicle crash on Highway 401 in Quinte West has left three people dead and another with serious injuries.

The collision happened around 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2024, on the westbound lanes of the highway, west of the County Road 40 interchange. A mini-van had collided with the rear of a tractor trailer.

Traffic in the area was slowed or stopped due prior collision father west.

Officers with the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with members of the Quinte West Fire and Emergency Services and Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Service responded to the scene.

Two people in the minivan, a 25-year-old male, a 22-year-old female, were pronounced deceased at the scene. An eight-month-old child was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. A four-year-old child was transported to a trauma centre in Toronto by Ornge Air Ambulance with serious injuries. All are from Laval, Quebec.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

The westbound 401 was closed for several hours during the investigation of this collision.

The investigation by the Quinte West OPP is continuing, with assistance from OPP Collision Reconstructions and members of the Technical Collision Investigation Team, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner.

Fatal Collision

(KINGSVILLE, ON) – An individual is deceased following a collision involving a motorcycle in the Town Kingsville.

On November 9, 2024, shortly after 1:30 p.m., emergency services including Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services, Kingsville Fire Department, and the Kingsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on County Road 34 in the Town of Kingsville.

As a result, the motorcyclist, a 54-year-old of Ruthven, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

County Road 34, was closed between County Road 31 and Dolce Vita Avenue for approximately seven hours but has since been reopened.

Kingsville OPP continue to investigate the collision with the assistance of the Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team.
