Fatal Motorcycle Collision

(SOUTH STORMONT TWP, ON) – A motorcycle rider has died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle collision.

The crash, involving a car and motorcycle happened on Friday, September 13, 2024, shortly after 6:00 a.m., on Bank Street/County Road 31 near Cloverdale Road, northwest of Winchester. Both vehicles were northbound at the time.

The motorcycle rider, a 31-year-old man from Winchester, was transported to a local hospital and then transported by Air ORNGE to a regional trauma centre. The victim was pronounced deceased in hospital shortly before 6:00 p.m. that evening.

The driver of the car was not physically injured.

SD&G OPP is continuing to investigate the collision, with assistance from an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and Technical Collision Investigators.

Fatal ATV Collision


(HALIBURTON COUNTY, ON) – 
The Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a fatal All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) collision involving one occupant in the Municipality of Highlands East.

On September 13, 2024, at approximately 6:53 p.m., the Haliburton Highlands OPP and Highlands East Fire responded to a report from Haliburton EMS regarding a single ATV collision on Bryans Road. The ATV reportedly collided with a tree resulting in serious injuries.

The driver, a 44-year-old male from Lindsay, was pronounced deceased prior to police arrival.

The Central Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team and the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario attended the scene and assisted with the investigation.

Fatal Collision In Goderich

(GODERICH, ON) – A fatal collision involving a sport utility vehicle (SUV) and a mobility scooter has claimed the life of an elderly Goderich resident. 

Just after 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 16th, 2024, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services, and Goderich Fire Department responded to the intersection of Blake Street East and Gibbons Street in the Town of Goderich after receiving a 9-1-1 call about a collision.

Upon arrival, emergency services discovered that the operator of an electric mobility scooter was seriously injured. The scooter operator was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where they were later pronounced deceased.

Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team attended the scene to assist with the collision investigation. Sections of Blake Street and Gibbons Street are currently closed for the investigation and will remain closed for several hours.

The investigation is ongoing, and the cause of the collision is being investigated. 

The deceased is a 91-year-old resident of Goderich.

Fatal Collision

(BURLINGTON, ON) – Members of the Burlington detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal collision involving a motorcycle and an SUV on Highway 403, Burlington.

On September 16, 2024, approximately 9:40 a.m., officers responded to a serious collision on Highway 403 east bound, between Waterdown Road and Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW), Burlington, involving a motorcycle and an SUV. Sadly, the driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at scene. The driver of the SUV was uninjured.

Members of the OPP Traffic Support Unit (TSU) are at scene assisting with the investigation. All east bound lanes of Highway 403 are currently closed at Waterdown Road and the closure is expected to remain for several hours.

The investigation is ongoing and officials are asking for witnesses who may have seen the collision, or may have dashcam footage, to call the OPP Burlington Detachment at 1-888-310-1122 and refer to incident number E241242094. Fatal Collision

(TOWNSHIP OF HAMILTON, ON) – Members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal collision involving two passenger vehicles in the Township of Hamilton.

On September 15, 2024, at approximately 9:20 p.m., officers responded to a report of a serious two-vehicle collision, north of Donaldson Road on County Road 28. Emergency Medical Services and the Township of Hamilton Fire Department also attended the incident. One vehicle was travelling northbound and collided with a southbound vehicle.

Sadly, as a result of the collision, the lone occupant one of the vehicles, a 54-year-old, male from Curve Lake, Ontario, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The two occupants of the second vehicle were transported to a local hospital where the driver was transferred to a Toronto hospital by ORNGE with serious injuries. The passenger had sustained non life-threatening injuries. There were no other injuries reported at the time of the collision.

OPP Traffic Collision Investigation (TCI) members attended to assist with the investigation and County Road 28 was closed between Donaldson Road and Ganaraska Road, until shortly after 3:00 a.m. on September 16, 2024.

Fatal Collision

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – On September 14, 2024, at approximately 4:55 p.m., the Norfolk detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a five-vehicle collision on Highway 6, near Blueline Road, Port Dover.

Members of OPP, Norfolk County Fire and Paramedic Services attended to assist.

The investigation determined that three motorcycles, a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), and a pick-up truck were involved in a collision at that location.

A passenger of one of the motorcycles, a 33-year-old from Sudbury was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The operator of the same motorcycle was transported to a trauma center with serious injuries.

The operator of a second motorcycle was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Four other vehicle occupants were not injured.

Members of the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team attended to assist with the investigation.

Highway 6 remains closed between Blueline Road and Pheasant Trail/Blue Lake Avenue while police continue to investigate.

Fatal Collision

(MULMUR, ON) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Dufferin County EMS, and Fire Services attended a serious three-vehicle collision in the Township of Mulmur.

On Saturday, September 14, 2024, at approximately 2:45 p.m., officers attended County Road 19 in Mulmur for the report of a serious three-vehicle vehicle collision. The collision involved a motorcycle, sedan and sport utility vehicle (SUV). The motorcycle was traveling southbound and collided with a northbound sedan and SUV.

Sadly, as a result of the collision the driver of the motorcycle, a 53-year-old, male from Hamilton was pronounced deceased at the scene. There were no other injuries reported at the time of the collision.

The Traffic Collision Investigation (TCI) team of the OPP was brought in to investigate. The investigation is continuing and anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage is asked to contact the Dufferin OPP 1-888-310-1122.

Drunk Driver Arrested Following Fatal Collision

(Orillia, ON) – Members of the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision in the Township of Oro-Medonte.

On September 14, 2024, just after 1:0 a.m., Orillia OPP and emergency crews responded to reports of a serious single vehicle collision at 15-16 Sideroad West between Line 5 and Line 6 in the Township of Oro-Medonte involving a single motor vehicle with extensive damage. Upon arrival, the male driver was transported by EMS to a Barrie area hospital for non-life threatening injuries, and the male passenger was pronounced deceased at scene.

The Central Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement unit (TIME) attended the location to continue the investigation. The intersection remains closed at this time.

As a result of the collision, the driver has been arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Operation causing death,
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), and
  • Dangerous Operation causing death.

The accused has been held in custody for a bail hearing.

The investigation is ongoing, and the intersection remains closed. Fatal Collision

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – On September 13, 2024, at approximately 12:45 p.m., the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of McKenzie Road and 3rd Line, Hagersville.

Members of OPP, Haldimand County Fire and Paramedic Services attended to assist.

The investigation determined that two passenger vehicles collided at that intersection.

The driver and the passenger of one vehicle were transported to a trauma hospital with serious injuries.

The passenger, a 22-year-old from Hamilton was later pronounced deceased.

The driver of the second vehicle was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Members of the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team attended to assist with the investigation.

3rd Line was closed at Highway 6 and Haldimand Road 9, and McKenzie Road was closed at 2nd Line and 4th Line but have since re-opened.

Fatal Collision

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision involving a motorcycle in Waterford.

At approximately 6:50 a.m. on Friday, September 13, 2024, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment, along with the Norfolk County Fire Department and Norfolk County Paramedic Services, responded to a collision involving a motorcycle and an SUV on Thompson Road East in Waterford, Norfolk County.

As a result, the motorcyclist, a 23-year-old from Oxford County, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the SUV sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

Thompson Road East, between Duncombe Road and Cockshutt Road, is expected to remain closed for the next several hours.

The West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team is assisting with the investigation and encourages anyone who was travelling on Thompson Road East around the time of the collision to contact the Norfolk County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.

2 Dead In Collision

(BROOKE-ALVINSTON) – On September 11, 2024, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Brooke Fire Rescue and Lambton County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a report of a collision involving a tractor trailer and a passenger motor vehicle at the intersection of Inwood Road and Courtright Line, Brooke-Alvinston.

The driver of the motor vehicle, 79-year-old of Windsor, was transported to hospital by Air Ornge with life-threatening injuries and later pronounced deceased at hospital.

The passenger of the motor vehicle, 77-year-old of Windsor, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The identity of the deceased will not be released out of the respect for the privacy of the family.

Inwood Road was closed between Oil Springs Line and McNally Street, and Courtright Line was closed between Forest Road and Sutorville Road to allow for the investigation but has since been reopened.

The Lambton County OPP continues to investigate with the assistance of the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME).

Fatal Collision

(TOWNSHIP OF ALNWICK-HALDIMAND ON) – Members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal collision involving a passenger vehicle and a train in the Township of Alnwick-Haldimand.

On September 9, 2024, at approximately 12:50 a.m., OPP received a call from CN Police regarding a collision that had occurred on Station Road. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Township of Alnwick-Haldimand Fire Department also responded to the incident.

The sole occupant of the passenger vehicle, an adult male, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The road and railway line at the location was closed as OPP Forensic Identification Services (IDENT) assisted officers with the investigation. OPP resources were clear around 6:00 a.m. and the railway continued to be closed until approximately 12:00 p.m., as CN Police conduct their own investigation.

The OPP investigation is on-going and is being assisted by the Northumberland OPP Crime Unit.

Fatal Collision

(ORILLIA, ON) – Members of the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred overnight in the Township of Ramara.

On September 4, 2024, just before 10:30 p.m., Orillia OPP, Simcoe County Paramedic Service and Township of Ramara Fire, were dispatched to Highway 12 South near Sideroad 15 for a report of a single motor vehicle that had struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The deceased has been identified as a 20-year-old male of Orillia.

The OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team attended the collision scene to assist with the investigation. Highway 12 South was closed for several hours for the investigation and has since been re-opened.

Fatal Collision

(LAKESHORE, ON) – Acyclist has died as a result of being struck by a vehicle on Morris Road in Lakeshore Township.

On September 3, 2024, at 7:11 p.m., members of the Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Chatham-Kent Paramedic Service and local Fire, were dispatched to Morris Road between Richardson Side Road and Lee Ave in Lakeshore Township for the report of a serious collision involving a vehicle and a cyclist.

The cyclist was transported to hospital where they were later pronounced deceased.

The OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team attended the scene to assist with the investigation.

The roadway remained closed for approximately six hours but has since opened.

6 Year Old Fatal Struck By Vehicle

(TWEED, ON) – A child has died after being struck by a vehicle in Tweed.

Members of the Central Hastings Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Tweed Firefighters and Hastings Quinte Paramedics were called to the scene on Jamieson Street West shortly after 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 1, 2024.

An off-duty nurse and others attempted life-saving measures, but the victim, a six-year-old girl, was pronounced deceased after being rushed to hospital.

The name of the victim will not be released.

The vehicle and driver remained at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing, involving members of the Central Hastings OPP Detachment and Crime Unit, an OPP Collision Reconstructionist, Technical Collision Investigators and the OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner.
