Robert BROCK Arrested Following Collision

(WHARNCLIFF, ON)– Police and Algoma Paramedic Services respond to a motor vehicle collision (MVC) rollover on Highway 129. Driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

On July 14, 2024, shortly after 8:00 p.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single MVC rollover on Highway 129 near the community of Wharncliffe (north of Thessalon).

Police arrived a short time later and observed a brown pick-up truck in the south bound ditch, along with a small utility trailer and an All-Terrain-Vehicle. 

Investigation determined prior to the collision the brown pick-up truck was travelling northbound on Highway 129 near Melwel Road and entered the southbound lane causing a southbound vehicle driver to take evasive action to avoid a head on collision. The brown pick-up truck continued northbound and later entered the southbound ditch.   

While speaking with the driver, police were able to determine the driver had consumed alcohol beverages. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the Thessalon OPP detachment for further testing. 

As a result, Robert BROCK, 50 years-of-age from Wharncliffe was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Careless driving

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on August 8, 2024.

STEWART Arrested For Drunk Driving

(HURON-KINLOSS, ON) – On July 12, 2024, at 10:35 a.m., South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a driving complaint in the Township of Huron-Kinloss.

Police made patrols in the area and located the driver. The driver was found to have been drinking alcohol. They were placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified Breath Technician for breath tests.

Jeffrey STEWART, 36-years-old, from the Township of Huron-Kinloss was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired- alcohol

Amber MARKHAM – Drunk Driving

(KENORA, ON) – A traffic complaint of a suspected impaired driver has resulted in charges.

On July 11, 2024, just after 4:15 p.m., members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a suspected impaired driver on Park Street in the City of Kenora.

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Kenora OPP Detachment for further testing.

As a result, Amber MARKHAM, 32-years-old, of Kenora, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:

·        Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

·        Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·        Class G1 Licence Holder – Accompanying Driver B.A.C. .05 or Above

·        Class G1 Licence Holder – Unaccompanied by Qualified Driver

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on August 1, 2024.

Canaan ATKINSON – Hit & Run, Drunk Driving

(PERRAULT FALLS, ON) – A single motor vehicle collision has resulted in impaired operation charges being laid.

On July 11, 2024, just before 7:00 p.m., members of the Red Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 105. Upon officers’ arrival, the driver of the motor vehicle had left the scene.

A short time later, officers were able to locate the driver of the motor vehicle and through investigation, determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Red Lake OPP Detachment for further testing.

As a result, Canaan ATKINSON, 30-years-old, of Kenora, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act, and Liquor Licence Control Act with:

·        Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

·        Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·        Fail to Report Accident

·        Fail to Remain

·        Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Red Lake on September 19, 2024.

Samuel LOGUE – Drunk Driving

(ALBERTON TOWNSHIP, ON) – A R.I.D.E program has resulted in impaired operation charges being laid against a Barwick resident.

On July 10, 2024, at approximately 9:45 p.m., members of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a R.I.D.E program on Highway 11 in Alberton Township. A motor vehicle entered the program, and an approved screening device was administered.

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Rainy River District Detachment for further testing.

As a result, Samuel LOGUE, 44-years-old, of Barwick, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:

·        Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

·        Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·        Fail to Have Insurance Card

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances on August 26, 2024.

Blaine BOX – Drunk Driving

(BRANT, ON) – Brant Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested an impaired driver at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint.

On July 11th, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., members of Brant County OPP conducted a traffic stop to check the sobriety of the driver at a RIDE checkpoint on Hagan Road in Brant County.

After speaking with the driver, they were taken into custody without incident and transported to Brant Detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Blaine BOX, a 30-year-old from Brant County, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container liquor

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on July 25th, 2024.

Hunter FIELDING – Drunk Driving, Threats

(TAY VALLEY TWP., ON) – The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Perth-area resident with impaired driving and making threats.

Lanark officers responded July 10, 2024, shortly after 10:00 p.m., when it was learned that a male had made threats and then left a location on Christie Lake Road in Tay Valley Township

Officers located the male at a home in the area. He was arrested and transported to the Lanark Detachment for testing.

Hunter FIELDING, age 21, has been charged with:

  • Uttering threats to damage property – two counts
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on August 5, 2024. The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension) and vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

Alain MORIN – Drunk Driving

(HEARST, ON) – A Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program led to the arrest of one driver North of Hearst.

On June 30, 2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE program on Hanlan Casgrain Concession Road 8 & 9, North of Hearst.

Officers determined one driver entering the RIDE stop had been consuming an alcohol beverage. The driver was arrested and transported to the Hearst detachment for further testing. Several containers of open liquor were located within the vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, Alain MORIN, 56 years of age of Hearst, was charged with the following:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 17, 2024, in Hearst. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Chance MATTINAS – Drunk Driving

(KAPUSKASING, ON) – A traffic complaint led to impaired driving charges in Kapuskasing.

On June 28, 2024, at approximately 10:00 a.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call of a suspected impaired driver on Highway 11, east of Kapuskasing.

Officers located and stopped the vehicle on Gurney Road in Kapuskasing and upon speaking with the driver, police determined that the driver had been consuming an alcohol beverage. The driver was arrested and transported to the Kapuskasing detachment for further testing. Several bottles of open liquor containers were located in the vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, Chance MATTINAS, 29 years of age of Constance Lake, was charged with the following:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

·        Drive motor vehicle – no licence

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 12, 2024, in Kapuskasing. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Joseph NAGY – Drunk Driving

(LAKESHORE TOWNSHIP) – One person is charged with impaired driving following a single-vehicle crash in Tecumseh.

On July 8, 2024, at approximately 10:35 p.m., members of the Essex detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision involving a vehicle that struck the guardrail near a train crossing on Tecumseh Road and Bedell Street.

Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services transported the lone occupant of the vehicle to hospital in Windsor with non-life-threatening injuries. Tecumseh Fire and Rescue also assisted with the response.

Joseph NAGY, 57-years-old of Tecumseh is charged under the Criminal Code (CC) with:

  • Adult Operation while impaired-alcohol or drugs [(CC 320.14 (1)(a)]
  • Adult Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) [CC 320.14 (1)(b)]

The accused was released from custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on July 25, 2024.

All rail traffic was halted at the scene to facilitate the investigation and removal of the disabled vehicle. The line was reopened to rail traffic just before 3 a.m.

Christopher CHILDS – Drunk Driving

(STIRLING-RAWDON, ON) – A single vehicle collision in Stirling-Rawdon has resulted in impaired driving charges.

Officers with the Central Hastings Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). The Stirling-Rawdon Fire Department and Hastings-Quinte Paramedics responded to the crash near the intersection of Bronson Rapids and Bateman Roads just after 10:00 p.m. on July 5, 2024.

A pick-up truck had left the road and struck a tree.

First responders located a female passenger at the scene who was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The male driver had fled in the vehicle but was arrested in the area following a foot-pursuit. The male was transported to the detachment for testing.

As a result, Christopher CHILDS, age 23 of Centre Hastings was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on July 25, 2024.

Michael MEADE – Drunk Driving

(BRANT, ON) – A Brantford resident is facing charges following a traffic stop on Bishopsgate Road.

On June 6th, 2024, at approximately 07:00 p.m., members of the Brant Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a passenger vehicle on Bishopsgate Road in Brant County after observing the vehicle driving erratically.

While speaking to the driver, the investigating officer observed signs of intoxication and a roadside approved screening device (ASD) test was administered, registering a failure. The driver was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Brant County Detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Michael MEADE, a 50-year-old from Brantford was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container liquor
  • Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on July 19th, 2024.

Peter WYONCH – Drunk Driving

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person with impaired driving offences after responding to a traffic complaint in Bracebridge.

On July 6, 2024, at 3:40 p.m. Bracebridge OPP officers responded to reports of a vehicle that was in the ditch, with an adult and a child beside it, on Fraserburg Road in Bracebridge. Officers arrived and commenced an investigation into the cause of the collision and subsequently arrested and charged 38-year-old Peter WYONCH of Bracebridge with Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). Neither individual suffered injuries.

The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on July 30, 2024 to answer to his charges. Drivers who are charged with impaired driving offenses also suffer an immediate 90 day drivers license suspension and have their vehicle impounded.

(KENORA, ON) – A R.I.D.E program in the City of Kenora has resulted in impaired operation charges.

On July 6, 2024, at approximately 2:20 a.m., members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E program in the area of Railway Street. A motor vehicle entered the program, and an approved screening device was administered.  

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Kenora OPP Detachment for further testing.

As a result, Ashanti SKEAD, 28-years-old, of Shoal Lake 40 First Nation, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on July 25, 2024.

Hope EWING – Drunk Driving

(LAMBTON, ON) – A traffic stop investigation led to an individual being charged for driving while impaired.

On July 6, 2024, at approximately 1:25 a.m., a member of Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Smith Street in St Clair Township.

After speaking with the driver, they were taken into custody without incident and transported to Lambton OPP Corunna detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Hope EWING, 21-year-old from Stoney Point, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired-Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on July 29, 2024, in the City of Sarnia to speak to the charge.
