Garrette MORAN Was Arrested

(WARWICK, ON) – A traffic stop for speeding led to an individual being charged for driving while impaired.

On September 13, 2024, shortly after 8:45 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Nauvoo Road, Warwick Township.

As a result of the investigation, Garrette MORAN, 32-year-old of Brooke-Alvinston, was charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act, with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Driving while under suspension (three counts)

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for 45-days.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on October 15, 2024, in the City of Sarnia to speak to the charges.

Selina THOMPSON – Drunk Driving

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – Driver charged with Impaired after collision in Thames Centre.

On September 14, 2024, at 5:05 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to Patricia Avenue in Thames Centre for report of a collision involving three vehicles.

Investigation revealed the driver lost control and collided with two vehicles that were parked on the road.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol and was placed under arrest.

As a result, Selina THOMPSON, a 36-year-old of Ingersoll, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Dangerous operation

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on November 14, 2024.

There were no injuries reported.

Dana FOUNTAIN-SMITH Arrested Following Collision

(LAKESHORE, ON) – On August 12, 2024, at approximately 1:02 a.m., Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 77 at County Road 8, Municipality of Lakeshore.

Officers arrived on scene along with Lakeshore Fire Rescue and Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Service (EMS) to find a vehicle had struck a residence.

As a result of the collision, 4 occupants of the vehicle were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries including a 7-year-old child. No one in the residence sustained any injuries.

On Friday September 13, 2024, Dana FOUNTAIN -SMITH, 35 years-of-age of London, Ontario was arrested in Peel Region and charged with the following offences.

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs S.320.14(1)(a) CC,

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) S.320.14(1)(b) CC

·        Dangerous Operation causing bodily harm S.320.12(2) CC

·        Driving while under suspension S.53(1) HTA

The accused was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice – Windsor.

Emmery McGINNIS – Drunk Driving

(Fort Frances, ON) – A Fort Frances OPP officer investigating a traffic complaint gets into a foot pursuit with the impaired driver.   

On September 15, 2024, at approximately 7:00 pm, the Fort Frances Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint about a possible impaired driver. An officer located the subject vehicle stopped on Highway 11 in Watten Township near George Armstrong Drive.

As the officer approached, the driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot. The officer engaged in a foot pursuit and the driver was promptly taken into custody. Investigation revealed the driver was obviously impaired and criminally prohibited from driving.

Emmery McGINNIS, 41-years-old from Nigigoonsiminikaaning First Nation (Red Gut) is charged criminally with impaired operation alcohol and drugs, impaired operation blood alcohol concentration 80 mgs and over, and operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code.

The accused was additionally charged by way of offence notices with open liquor and cannabis offences. The accused’s vehicle was impounded for seven days, and an additional administrative suspension was issued.  The accused was released by police and is scheduled to have first appearance in the Fort Frances Ontario Court of Justice on November 4, 2024.

Kenneth STIRLING – Drunk Driving

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – An individual was arrested after police received a report of an intoxicated person asleep in a vehicle.

On September 14, 2024, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a possible impaired driver on Alder Street, Dunnville.

The investigation determined that a lone occupant appeared to be asleep in a locked, parked vehicle.

When officers spoke with the individual, it became apparent they had consumed alcohol, and an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered.

The individual was taken into custody and transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result, 41-year-old Kenneth STIRLING of Dunnville was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while Impaired
  • Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario court of Justice in Cayuga on October 29, 2024.

Mallory HAYES – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) On September 14, 2024, at approximately 11:30 pm officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wellington County Detachment were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program at the intersection of Hanlon Parkway and Speedvale Ave West within the City of Guelph.

During the initiative, a vehicle was stopped, and the driver was assessed for sobriety. As a result of the investigation, Mallory HAYES, 23-years-old of Ottawa, was charged with:

  •  Operation While Impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus contrary to the Criminal Code

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph, at a later date.

James WHITTET – Drunk Driving

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located and investigated a vehicle after a Good Samaritan reported a traffic complaint within the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

On September 13, 2024, at approximately 2:55 p.m., members of the OPP located the vehicle on the westbound Highway 401 near the 93-kilometer marker, Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

While speaking to the driver, the investigating officer observed signs of impairment and Standard Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) was administered. The driver performed the testing poorly, was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service (CKPS) for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, James WHITTET, a 30-year-old from Cambridge was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Chatham on September 30, 2024.

The OPP would like to take this opportunity to thank the individual who contacted police and reported this incident. As a direct result, officers were able to safely locate the vehicle and take the driver into custody.

Jerry AGAYAO – Drunk Driving

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Driver facing Impaired driving charge after failing roadside demand.

On September 13, 2024, at 10:21 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to a traffic complaint on Glendon Drive in Middlesex Centre, for the report of a possible impaired driver.

The vehicle was located, and a traffic stop was initiated.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment where further tests were administered.

As a result, Jerry AGAYAO, a 40-year-old of Mount Brydges, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on November 4, 2024.

Syed ALI – Drunk Driving

(OTTAWA, ON) – Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an Ottawa resident with Impaired Driving after conducting a traffic stop on Highway 417.

Shortly before 2:00 a.m. on September 16, an officer observed a vehicle driving erratically on Highway 417 near Maitland. Upon stopping the vehicle, the officer noticed a strong odour of alcohol coming from the driver. The driver failed a roadside breath test and was arrested for impaired driving.

Syed ALI, 24 years of age has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

Ali received a 90-day driving suspension and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. Ali is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice on October 22, 2024

Drunk Driver Arrested Following Fatal Collision

(Orillia, ON) – Members of the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision in the Township of Oro-Medonte.

On September 14, 2024, just after 1:0 a.m., Orillia OPP and emergency crews responded to reports of a serious single vehicle collision at 15-16 Sideroad West between Line 5 and Line 6 in the Township of Oro-Medonte involving a single motor vehicle with extensive damage. Upon arrival, the male driver was transported by EMS to a Barrie area hospital for non-life threatening injuries, and the male passenger was pronounced deceased at scene.

The Central Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement unit (TIME) attended the location to continue the investigation. The intersection remains closed at this time.

As a result of the collision, the driver has been arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Operation causing death,
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), and
  • Dangerous Operation causing death.

The accused has been held in custody for a bail hearing.

The investigation is ongoing, and the intersection remains closed. – Dangerous Operation contrary to the Criminal Code

– Novice Driver – B.A.C. above zero contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

– Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence and Control Act

– Drive Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available contrary to Cannabis Control Act

Trey O’Rourke – Drunk Driving

(OTTAWA, ON) – Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid multiple charges against a Cornwall resident after receiving a traffic complaint about their driving.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m on September 12, Ottawa OPP received multiple complaints about a possible impaired driver travelling westbound along Highway 417 near Carling Avenue. The passenger was also observed “hanging out” of the window and holding what appeared to be a bottle of alcohol. Officers stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver for impaired driving. An open bottle of alcohol, as well as cups filled with alcohol were also located in the vehicle.

Trey O’Rourke, 21 years of age, has been charged with the following Criminal Code, Liquor License Act and Highway Traffic Act offences:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available
  • Young Driver – B.A.C Above Zero

The passenger was also charged under the Liquor License Act and for not wearing their seatbelt.

O’Rourke received a 90-day driving suspension and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. O’Rourke is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice on October 10, 2024.

Cory HEDGER – Drunk Driving

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On September 11, 2024, at 6:24 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report for a possible impaired driver along Queen Street in Kincardine.

The vehicle was located by officers and the driver was found to have been drinking alcohol. They were placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified Breath Technician for breath tests.

Cory HEDGER, 41-years-old, from the Municipality of Kincardine was charged with:
