Paul SABUTSCH Was Arrested

(LAKESHORE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Lakeshore Detachment, has charged an individual following a collision investigation.

On September 27, 2024, at approximately 5:40 p.m., emergency services including Lakeshore Fire Rescue and Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Service (EMS) responded to a two vehicle collision on Puce Road between Walls Road and Highway 401, Municipality of Lakeshore.

A pickup truck with a lone driver and a sedan with two occupants, all were transported to a local hospital by EMS with non-life-threatening injuries. 

As a result of the investigation, Paul SABUTSCH, a 32-year-old from Lakeshore was charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs S. 320.14(1)(a) CC

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) S.320.14(1)(a) CC

A 90-day drivers licence suspension and a 7-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor October 18, 2024.

Jeremy BAYNES – Drunk Driving

(HUNTSVILLE, ON) – The Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has taken another impaired driver off the road in the Town of Huntsville.

On September 23, 2024, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the Huntsville OPP responded to a report of a possible impaired driver at a business on Aspdin Road, in the Town of Huntsville. Upon arrival, the police investigation resulted in the arrest of the individual.

As a result of the investigation, Jeremy BAYNES, a 41-year-old of Acton, was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on November 5, 2024. The accused also had their drivers license suspended for 90 days, and vehicle impounded for seven days.

Mary LAPOINTE – Drunk Driving

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – One person is facing impaired driving charges after Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members investigated a single-vehicle collision early Thursday morning in the County of Brant.

On Thursday September 26, 2024 at approximately 1:24 a.m., Brant County OPP members responded to a collision on Highway 403 in the County of Brant. It was determined a vehicle had left the roadway and collided with a tree. There were no reported injuries.

One person was arrested and transported to Brant OPP detachment for testing.

Police have charged Mary LAPOINTE, 27-years-of-age from London with the following offences:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Dangerous Operation

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario at a later date.

Michael FEDORA – Drunk Driving

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation following a complaint from a concerned motorist.

On September 23, 2024, shortly before 8:00 p.m., Caledon OPP responded to a traffic complaint where a vehicle was described as operating in a concerning manner on Valleywood Boulevard. Officers located the vehicle, and during the investigation, formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

As a result of the investigation, Michael FEDORA, 61, of Caledon, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

• Operation while impaired – Alcohol

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on October 10, 2024, to answer to the charges. The driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven.

The OPP relies on the public to report crime. Impaired driving is a crime that should be treated no differently. Drivers and other road users can significantly contribute to safer roads by avoiding taking unnecessary risks and complying with all traffic laws. It’s simply not worth the risk.

GURPREET SINGH – Drunk Driving

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation following a complaint from a concerned motorist.

On September 19, 2024, shortly after 3:00 a.m., Caledon OPP responded to a report of a vehicle that had stopped on Highway 10, near King Street, in the Town of Caledon. There were concerns that the driver may be impaired. Officers located the vehicle and formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

As a result, GURPREET SINGH, 27, of Brampton, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on October 10, 2024, to answer to the charge. The driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven.

Nicholas ROBINSON – Drunk Driving

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual following a traffic stop.

On September 24, 2024, at approximately 6:15 a.m., a member of the OPP Traffic Incident Enforcement Team (TIME) stopped a passenger vehicle on Grand Avenue East, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, following a notification from the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system.

As a result of the investigation, Nicholas ROBINSON, a 28-year-old from Oro-Medonte Township was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Fail to notify change of address – licence
  • Fail to have insurance card

A further 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Chatham on October 21, 2024.

Mike LOON – Drunk Driving

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – On September 21st, 2024 at approximately 7:20 a.m., officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a traffic complaint along Highway 589, within the Township of Gorham.

The complaint vehicle was located & a traffic stop was initiated. Through the investigation, it was determined that the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages, was placed under arrest & returned to the detachment for further tests.

As a result of the investigation, Mike LOON, 50, of Slate Falls, Ontario was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus);
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs;

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on October 23rd, 2024.

Johnathan MCCANN Was Arrested

(TOWNSHIP OF ESSA, ON)- The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers lay charges relating to an impaired investigation on Sunday night.

On September 22nd, 2024, shortly after 11:25 p.m. an Officer from the Nottawasaga Detachment was conducting traffic enforcement on Brentwood Road in the Township of Essa. The subject vehicle was observed travelling at a low rate of speed with no rear lights on. The vehicle was stopped, as a result of the investigation officers arrested the driver for impaired driving. Johnathan MCCANN a 49-year-old from Angus was arrested and charged with the following:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code

·      Take motor vehicle without consent

The male was arrested on the strength of outstanding warrants and was later released with a future court date.

(GUELPH, ON) On September 23, 2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m., officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wellington County Detachment were dispatched to a two-motor vehicle collision on the Hanlon Parkway within the City of Guelph.

As a result of the investigation, Bharadwaj SRIHARI, 25-years-old of Guelph, was charged with:

•             Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus, contrary to the Criminal Code

•             Drive motor vehicle – no licence, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph, at a later date.

(PUSLINCH TWP, ON) On September 23, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m. officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wellington County Detachment were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision, where the motor vehicle was reported to have crashed into a nearby ditch on Roszell Road, Puslinch.

As a result of the investigation, Joshua RAMIAH, 20-years-old of Cambridge, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood concentration 80 plus contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Novice driver – blood alcohol concentration above zero, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • Young driver – blood alcohol concentration above zero, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
  • Careless Driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph, at a later date.

Rene RUEL – Drunk Driving

(PEMBROKE, ON) – An individual from Petawawa is facing a Criminal Code (CC) charge after members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recently investigated an impaired driving complaint.

On September 22, 2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m. officers from the UOV OPP responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver on a motor-assisted bike in Petawawa. A short time later police stopped the driver on Victoria Street in Petawawa. As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.   

As a result of the investigation 48-year-old Rene RUEL is facing the following CC charge:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and their motor-assisted bicycle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on October 29, 2024.

Chad COLLEY-VANDERZANDE – Drunk Driving

(PETROLIA, ON) – The Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged an individual with impaired driving following a traffic stop.

On September 20, 2024, shortly after 10:45 p.m., members of Lambton County OPP conducted a traffic stop on Rail Road Street, town of Petrolia.

As a result of the investigation, Chad COLLEY-VANDERZANDE, 37-year-old of Plympton-Wyoming, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offence:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on October 28, 2024, in the City of Sarnia to speak to the charge.

Ira WHITE – Drunk Driving

(WALPOLE ISLAND FIRST NATION, ON) – On September 19, 2024, shortly after 1:30 p.m., a member of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Ashkebee Road, Walpole Island First Nation.

As a result of the investigation, Ira WHITE, 57-year-old of Walpole Island First Nation, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order (two counts)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – opioid (other than heroin)
  • Use plate not authorized for vehicle
  • Drive motor vehicle – not equipped with ignition interlock device
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for 45-days.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on October 16, 2024, in the City of Sarnia to speak to the charges.

(ORANGEVILLE, ON) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged one female with impaired operation related offences on Thursday evening. 

On September 19, 2024, shortly after 8:30 P.M., Dufferin OPP officers were dispatched to the area of Fifth Avenue in the Town of Orangeville for an intoxicated patron who was attempting to drive away from a local dining establishment. Officers arrived on scene and were led into an impaired driving investigation.

Felicia MERJO, a 54-year-old female, from Brampton has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused individual is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville. Their driver’s licence was suspended 90 days, and their vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
