Marliese MARON – Drunk Driving

(SELWYN TWP, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual after receiving a report of a possible impaired driver after their vehicle went into a ditch.

On Saturday November 2, 2024, at approximately 7:15pm, Peterborough County OPP officers received a report of a possible impaired driver on Young’s Point Road. The complainant advised that the vehicle had left the roadway going into the ditch. The complainant stopped to check on the driver who did not want any assistance. The complainant contacted the OPP providing details of what had happened. A second motorist stopped to assist and stayed with the driver until police arrived.

Officers arrived a short time later and after a brief conversation, determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol at which point they were arrested.

Marliese MARON (age 54) of Selwyn Township, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on November 26, 2024.

Ryan MCQUILLAN – Drunk Driving

(BECKWITH TWP, ON) – The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an Ottawa resident with impaired driving after a collision.

Officers respond to a single-vehicle collision on Sunday, November 3, 2024, shortly before 6:00 p.m., on Scotch Corners Road in Beckwith Township. A car had left the roadway on a curve. The driver and passenger did not report any injuries.

An approved roadside screening device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the Lanark County Detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Ryan MCQUILLAN, age 24 of Ottawa, has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on December 9, 2024.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension) and vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

Chelsea CASCADDEN – Drunk Driving

(TECUMSEH, ON) – Driver charged with impaired operation after vehicle leaves road and enters ditch.

On November 2, 2024, at 7:18 p.m., a member of the Tecumseh Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), was conducting traffic enforcement on North Talbot Road and 9th Concession Road in the Town of Tecumseh when a single motor vehicle drove off the roadway.

The officer checked on the condition of the driver, determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol and was arrested and transported to a local OPP detachment.

As a result, Chelsea CASCADDEN a 32-year-old of Essex, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Windsor to speak to the charges on November 12, 2024.

The driver was not injured.

Essex County OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.

Thomas Edward PLANTE – Drunk Driving

(ESSEX COUNTY, ON) – On November 2, 2024, at approximately 9:15 p.m. members from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Ojibway Parkway and Highway 401.

During the operation, a vehicle was stopped, and the driver was assessed for sobriety. As a result of the investigation, Thomas Edward PLANTE, 48 years-old of Windsor, was charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Operation While Impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus 

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Windsor, On November 21, 2024.

Marie SAVOIE – Drunk Driving

(KAPUSKASING, ON) – A call from the public in Kapuskasing led to an impaired driving arrest.

On November 1, 2024, at approximately 2:00 a.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call of a possible impaired driver withing a parking lot on O’Brien Avenue in Kapuskasing.

The subject vehicle was located running in the same parking lot with a person in the driver’s sear. Officers determined that the driver had been consuming an alcoholic beverage, and the driver was arrested and transported to the Kapuskasing detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Marie SAVOIE, 62 years of age of Kapuskasing, was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on December 2, 2024, in Kapuskasing. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Andrew BURKE – Drunk Driving

(BRADFORD, ON) – An eight vehicle, chain reaction collision, resulted in one driver being arrested and charged with numerous criminal charges and provincial offences, early Thursday morning.

On October 31, 2024, shortly after 4:30 a.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Aurora detachment were dispatched to a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 400 south bound, south of Highway 88, in Bradford, Ontario. It was reported that a vehicle had been involved in a collision with another vehicle and had come to rest in a live lane without lights on. This caused a chain reaction collision involving eight vehicles. One person was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

While investigating the collision, officers had cause to enter into an impaired driving investigation involving one of the drivers, who was subsequently arrested at the scene.

As a result, Andrew BURKE, a 36-year-old from Scarborough has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation
  • Several Highway Traffic Act and Cannabis Control Act offences

The accused was released from custody and is set to appear on December 18, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Barrie.

Navdeep GILL – Drunk Driving

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver reported as suspicious vehicle with impaired operation for having a BAC (blood alcohol concentration) of nearly four times the legal limit.

On October 24, 2024, shortly after 6:00 p.m., Caledon OPP was dispatched to the area of Ivan Avenue, in the Town of Caledon, for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Officers located the vehicle and the driver. During the interaction, grounds were formed that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested. 

As a result of the investigation, Navdeep GILL, 41, of Caledon, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concertation (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on November 14, 2024, to answer to the charge. The driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven.

Subramannie MAHADEO – Drunk Driving, Etc.

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver of a commercial motor vehicle with impaired operation.

On October 29, 2024, shortly before 5:00 p.m., Caledon OPP was dispatched to a traffic complaint in the area of King Street and Dixie Road, in the Town of Caledon. A motorist reported being concerned over the manner a commercial motor vehicle was being operated. Officers located the vehicle. During the interaction with the driver, grounds were formed that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

As a result of the investigation, Subramannie MAHADEO, 49, of Brampton, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concertation (80 plus)

• Operation while impaired – alcohol

• Fail to stop for police

• Drive commercial motor vehicle in contravention of conditions

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on November 14, 2024, to answer to the charges. The driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven.

Gary CZECH – Drunk Driving

(HUNTSVILLE, ON) – On October 29, 2025 at 4:08 p.m., Huntsville OPP attended a motor vehicle collision on Domtar Road. The collision involved a pick up truck striking a hydro pole. The driver was assessed for injury at the scene by Muskoka EMS and did not require and further medical attention. As a result of the investigation, it was determined the driver was impaired and subsequently arrested.

Gary CZECH, 44 years old of Huntsville is charged for:

Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Operation while impaired – alcohol

The accused was suspended from driving for 90 days as per Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS)

The accused is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on December 10, 2025 at 9:00 a.m.

The OPP reminds drivers that no amount of alcohol or drugs in your system is safe when driving. If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, it is important to call 9-1-1 to report it.

Norman ESQUEGA – Drunk Driving

(DORION, ON) On October 13, 2024, at approximately 1:00pm., members of the Nipigon Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified of a possible impaired driver near Dorion ON. Officers patrolled the area and observed the suspect vehicle on Black Sturgeon Road.

As a result of the investigation, Norman ESQUEGA 56-years-old, of Thunder Bay has been criminally charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)
  • Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Nipigon.

Hal MCKENDRY – Drunk Driving

(PLUMMER ADDITIONAL TOWNSHIP, ON) – East Algoma OPP lays 45th impaired charge in 2024.

On October 29, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a disturbance at a residence on Plummer Road in Plummer Additional Township.

Investigation determined a black pick-up truck attended the complainant’s field on the west side of Plummer Road near West Road. The pick-up truck slowly pulled into the field and the driver who appeared to be impaired began yelling at the homeowner. An altercation then ensued between the property owner and the driver who believed that this property was his.

The accused was arrested and transported to Thessalon detachment for further testing and was lodged until sober.

As a result, Hal MCKENDRY, 62 years-of-age from Goulais River was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Enter premises when entry prohibited

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on December 5, 2024. 

The pick-up truck was towed and impounded for seven days with the driver being issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension.

Donald BEDARD – Drunk Driving

(TERRACE BAY, ON) – A 43-year-old from Terrace Bay is facing impaired charges resulting from a vehicle check.

On October 20, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., members of the Schreiber Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified by a Conservation Officer with the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) of a subject being detained, on Mill Road, near Terrace Bay.

As a result of the investigation, Donald BEDARD 43-years-old, of Terrace Bay has been criminally charged with:

• Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

• Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

The Accused received a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Schreiber.

Matthew HENRY – Drunk Driving

(CHIPPEWAS OF THE THAMES FIRST NATION, ON) – Driver charged with impaired operation after vehicle leaves road and enters ditch.

On October 19, 2024, at 3:56 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Chippewas of the Thames Fire department and Oneida Nation Paramedic Service were dispatched to a single vehicle collision on Jubilee Road, Chippewas of the Thames First Nation.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.

As a result, Matthew HENRY, a 37-year-old of Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on December 17, 2024.

The driver was not injured.

Wolfgang Weber – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint last night at approximately 8:00p.m. for a vehicle that was traveling northbound on County Road 36.

Officers located the vehicle in the ditch on Height Roads, just off County Road 36. The driver suffered no injuries.

Officers received additional information and after speaking with the driver, Officers entered an impaired investigation.

As a result of the investigation, 59-year-old, Wolfgang Weber from Minden was arrested and charged with

–      Operation while impaired- alcohol and drugs

–      Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

–      Having care or control of a motor vehicle with unsealed container of liquor

In addition to the charges the driver received a 90-day licence suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

(MIDLAND,ON) – An officer from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation while on general patrol of Yonge Street, Midland on October 24, 2024.

The officer acting on driving observations of a westbound vehicle conducted a vehicle stop and upon speaking with the driver entered into a impaired driving investigation.

As a result of this investigation Jessica GRIMLEY 24 years of Midland has been charged with the following criminal code driving charges.

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on November 14, 2024 and was served a 90 day driver’s licence suspension along with a seven day vehicle impound in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.
