Priya PERSAUD Arrested Following Collision

(KING, ON) – Motor vehicle collision resulted in one driver being arrested and charged with multiple criminal charges, early Sunday morning.

On November 10, 2024, shortly before 6:00 a.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Aurora detachment were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 400 south bound, north of King Road, in the Township of King, Ontario. It was reported that a vehicle had been involved in a collision with another vehicle and that both had come to rest in the center median impeding a live lane. All parties were without injuries.

While investigating the collision, officers had cause to enter into an impaired driving investigation involving one of the drivers, who was subsequently arrested at the scene.

As a result, Priya PERSAUD, a 21-year-old from Ajax has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation

The accused was released from custody and is set to appear on December 10, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Newmarket.

Michael SMITH – Drunk Driving

(POINT EDWARD, ON) – Police arrested an impaired driver at the Bluewater Bridge in the Village of Point Edward.

On November 5, 2024, shortly after 11:00 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were requested to attend Bluewater Bridge, Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), regarding a possible impaired driver. 

As a result of the investigation, Michael SMITH, 40-year-old of Chesterfield, Michigan, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:

  • Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on December 19, 2024, in the City of Sarnia.

Aaron CHEYNE – Drunk Driving

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Huron East resident with an Impaired driving offence on October 21, 2024, in the Municipality of Central Huron. 

Just after 1:00 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024, Huron County OPP officers arrested an individual who had driven their vehicle to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton.

The driver was arrested for impaired operation and later provided breath samples before a qualified Intoxilyzer Breath Technician. Breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over the legal limit.

Aaron CHEYNE, 40 years of age from Huron East has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on November 25, 2024.

Leif KIYOSHK – Drunk Driving

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) – The Elgin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Chatham Detachment, has charged an individual following a traffic stop.

On November 5, 2024, at approximately 10:25 p.m., a member of the Elgin OPP stopped a passenger vehicle on the westbound Highway 401 near Duart Road, Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

The driver was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Leif KIYOSHK, a 33-year-old from Wallaceburg was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Speeding 1 – 49Km/h over posted limit

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Chatham on November 25, 2024.

(ORANGEVILLE, ON) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an Orangeville resident with impaired operation related offences as the result of public complaint.

On November 3, 2024, just after 4:00 p.m., Dufferin OPP officers received a public complaint about a possible impaired driver in the area of Broadway in the Town of Orangeville. Officers located the vehicle and were quickly led to an impaired driving investigation.

Marilyn HAYWARD, a 54-year-old female, from Orangeville has been charged with:

The accused individual is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville. Their driver’s licence was suspended 90 days, and their vehicle impounded for 7 days.

(DUFFERIN, COUNTY) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Shelburne resident with impaired operation related offences as the result of numerous traffic complaints.

On November 4, 2024, just after 1:30 a.m., Dufferin OPP officers received multiple traffic complaints for a vehicle travelling on Highway 10 in the Town of Mono. Officers located the vehicle and were quickly led to an impaired driving investigation.

Anthony MCCUTCHEON – Drunk Driving

(WELLINGTON NORTH TWP, ON) – Wellington County OPP received multiple traffic complaints which led to an individual from Brussels, ON being charged three times under the Criminal Code.

On November 4, 2024, just before 7:00 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified of a possible impaired driver on Wellington Road 109, within Wellington North Township.

As a result of the investigation, Anthony MCCUTCHEON, 27-year-old of Brussels, ON, was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous Operation

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on November 22, 2024.

Rajinder SINGH – Drunk Driving

(CALEDON, ON) – The Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver involved in a collision with impaired operation in the Town of Caledon.

On October 26, 2024, just before 9:00 p.m., Caledon OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the area of Highway 10 and Highpoint Sideroad in the Town of Caledon. No injuries were reported. 

As a result of the investigation, Rajinder SINGH, 27, of Brampton, was charged with:

โ€ข Drive While Under Suspension 

In addition to the charges, the driver was issued a 90-day license suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. 

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Orangeville on November 14, 2024, to answer to the charges.

Tyler Nawash – Drunk Driving

(SAUGEEN FIRST NATION, ON) – On November 3, 2024, at 9:21 p.m., the Grey Bruce OPP responded to a single vehicle collision on French Bay Road, Saugeen First Nation.

Tyler Nawash, 35, of Saugeen First Nation was charged with:

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton on November 20, 2024.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

Thomas KUZMA – Drunk Driving

(TOWNSHIP OF THE NORTH SHORE, ON) – East Algoma OPP lays 47th impaired charge in 2024.

On November 3, 2024, at approximately 12:00 a.m., the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver travelling eastbound on Causley Street through the Town Blind River. 

Police patrolled Highway 17 and located the suspect vehicle parked on Martin Road in the village of Spragge. While speaking to the driver police determined alcohol had been consumed and an arrest was made. The driver was then transported to Blind River detachment for further testing.

As a result, Thomas KUZMA, 19 years-of-age from Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Have care and control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on December 5, 2024.

The car was towed and impounded for seven days with the driver being issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension.

Annarae JARRATT – Drunk Driving

(MUNICIPALITY OF HURON SHORES, ON) – East Algoma OPP lays 46th impaired charge in 2024.

On November 2, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver travelling westbound on Causley Street through the Town of Blind River. 

At approximately 8:20 p.m., police located the suspect pick-up truck east of the Town of Iron Bridge and initiated a traffic stop. While speaking to the driver police determined alcohol had been consumed and an arrest was made. The driver was then transported to Thessalon detachment for further testing.

As a result, Annarae JARRATT, 43 years-of-age from Thessalon was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on December 5, 2024.

The pick-up truck was towed and impounded for seven days with the driver being issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension.

Carlos MONTERO – Drunk Driving

(OTONOBEE-SOUTH MONAGHAN TWP, ON) – An officer from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual with impaired as a result of conducting a traffic stop.

On Saturday November 2, 2024, at approximately 11:15pm, a Peterborough County OPP officer was conducting general patrol on Highway 7 in the township of Otonabee-South Monaghan. The officer observed a vehicle approaching at a high rate of speed and activated their Radar. The officer activated their emergency lighting and initiated a traffic stop.

After a brief conversation with the driver, the officer determined they were under the influence of alcohol. The officer made a demand for the Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver complied with the demand and provided a sample of their breath resulting in a Fail at which point they were arrested.

Carlos MONTERO (age 51) of Peterborough, ON., was arrested and charged with:

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days. The driver was also charged with Speeding under the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on December 10, 2024.

Sophia NORMAN – Drunk Driving

(UNINCORPORATED TOWNSHIP, ON) – One person was arrested and charged after police responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the ditch.

On November 2, 2024, at approximately 3:20 p.m., the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Fire Services and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 144, Unincorporated Township, north of Cartier.

The highway was reduced to one lane of altering traffic for just under three hours during the investigation.

Both the driver and passenger received serious, but non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to the local hospital by EMS.

As a result of the investigation, Sophia NORMAN, 21 years-of-age, from Timmins, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation

The accused was release and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on December 4, 2024, in Sudbury.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on November 03, 2024 following a call for service regarding the motor vehicle.

On November 03, 2024, at approximately 4:12 pm, officers responded to a call for service on Ski Hill Road just south of Omemee. A traffic stop was completed and officers entered into an impaired driving investigation.

John Jones, 82-year-old of Scarborough, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days and the drivers license was suspended for 90 days.

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on November 01, 2024 following an interaction during a RIDE program.

On November 01, 2024, at approximately 10:30 pm, while conducting a RIDE program a motor vehicle entered into the RIDE at Hwy 35 near Towers Road and an impaired driving investigation commenced.

Henry Oppers, 76-year-old of Janetville, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days and the drivers license was suspended for 90 days.

If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture.
