Michelle CIPPARONE – Drunk Driving

(LAKESHORE, ON) – Police located and arrested an impaired driver while on patrol in the Belle River.

On December 14, 2024, at approximately 2:21 a.m., a member of the Lakeshore detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on general patrol in Belle River when a vehicle caught their attention and conducted a traffic stop on Notre Dame Avenue

As a result, Michelle CIPPARONE, 38 years-of-age of Lakeshore, was charged with the following:

·                     Operation While Impaired -Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Windsor on January 7, 2025.

Roderick SUMMERFIELD – Drunk Driving

(ESSEX, ON) – Police arrested an impaired driver who was involved in a collision.

On December 14, 2024, at approximately 9:22 p.m., members of the Essex detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Wilson Avenue, in the Town of Essex.

As a result of the investigation, Roderick SUMMERFIELD, 27 years-of-age of Tecumseh, was charged with the following:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs             

·        Operation While Impaired -Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Windsor on December 27, 2024.

No injuries were reported as a result of the collision.

William HATTON – Drunk Driving

(TOWN OF WASAGA BEACH, ON) – The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving related charges because of a traffic tip.

On December 12, 2024, at approximately 3:50 p.m., Huronia West OPP officers responded to a traffic tip of a possible impaired driver on County Road 10, heading westbound towards Wasaga Beach.

At approximately 4:10 p.m., officers attended the registered owners address in Wasaga Beach where they located the vehicle approaching. Officers conducted a traffic stop and noticed an odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath which led into an impaired driving investigation. As a result, William HATTON, 39-year-old of Wasaga Beach, was arrested and has been charged with the following:

·      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

·      Dangerous Operation

The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Firey Snowmobile Collision With Barn & Parked Van

(TINY TOWNSHIP, ON) A snowmobile operator is facing impaired driving charges after a crash in Tiny Township late last evening.

On December 12, 2024 at 11:40pm, members of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police(OPP) were notified by the Tiny Township Fire Department of a snowmobile fire on Concession 17 West in Tiny Township. Upon arrival officers located a burned snowmobile which had collided with a parked van and a barn. There was no operator in the vicinity however officers followed footprints in the snow to a nearby home.

At the residence, officers spoke with an individual and determined that they had been operating the snowmobile. During the conversation, officers also noted the signs of alcohol impairment. The individual was placed under arrest and transported to detachment to provide breath samples however, they refused.

As a result of this investigation, Alcime MAURICE, 43 years of Tiny Township was charged with the following offence contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada:

  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand

The accused was released on an undertaking to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on January 2, 2025. When charged with impaired driving the driver’s licence of the accused is immediately suspended for 90 days and the vehicle they were operating is impounded for 7 days.

Aldo RAMIREZ MARQUINA – Drunk Driving

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – A North Perth resident is facing an impaired driving charge after driving while impaired – to the police station.

On December 8, 2024 just before 6:30 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began an investigation after a person drove to the North Perth OPP detachment to speak to an officer regarding a dispute. During the investigation, the driver was arrested.

As a result, Aldo RAMIREZ MARQUINA, 40, of North Perth, has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on January 6, 2024.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. 

The Perth County OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver, you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately. Reuben SAGMAN – Drunk Driving

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with Impaired Operation.

On December 9, 2024, just after 11:00 a.m., an officer conducting a general patrol on Airport Road observed a vehicle travelling on Patterson Sideroad and failing to stop at a stop sign before proceeding on Airport Road. The officer conducted a traffic stop. During the interaction, grounds were formed that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

As a result of the investigation, Reuben SAGMAN, 31, of Toronto, was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Speeding

·      Disobey stop sign – fail to stop

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on January 2, 2024, to answer to the charges. Their driver’s license was also suspended for a period of 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven.

The OPP remains committed to keeping our communities safe through enforcement and public education. Drivers who are impaired by drugs or alcohol continue to pose a significant threat on Ontario roads. Whether a driver is impaired by alcohol or drugs, impaired is impaired, and impaired driving is dangerous regardless of the source of impairment. Peter DUPUIS – Drunk Driving

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have arrested and charged one individual with impaired operation.  

On December 6, 2024, at approximately 3:30 p.m. members of the Dryden OPP Detachment responded to an incident at a local business in the City of Dryden.

As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol/drug. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Dryden OPP for further testing.

Peter DUPUIS, 62-years-old, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·         Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·         Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden January 20, 2025.

John EDMONDS – Drunk Driving

(BONFIELD TOWNSHIP, ON) – A Festive Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program led to impaired driving charges for one individual in Bonfield Township.

On December 11, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m., officers conducting a RIDE initiative at the intersection of Development Rd and South Shore Rd stopped a vehicle. Upon investigation, police determined that the driver had consumed alcohol. The individual was arrested and transported to the North Bay detachment for further testing.

As a result, 57-year-old John EDMONDS of Bonfield Township has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on January 7, 2025. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) was issued, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

During the 2024 Festive RIDE program, running from November 21, 2024, to January 1, 2025, the motoring public can expect to see an increased OPP presence on our roadways.

Drivers are reminded that the Mandatory Alcohol Screening law allows officers with an approved screening device to demand a roadside breath sample from any lawfully stopped driver without reasonable suspicion of impairment.

Samaria ETHERINGTON – Drunk Driving

(MOOSONEE, ON) – A 911 call to the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) resulted in the arrest for impaired driving.

On December 10, 2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver. Police located the subject vehicle and driver in a commercial parking lot on Ferguson Road in Moosonee. Upon investigation, officers determined the driver had consumed alcohol and placed them under arrest.  

As a result, Samaria ETHERINGTON, 18 years of age, of Moosonee, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Failure to comply with undertaking

·        Drive motor vehicle – no licence

·        Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

·        Young driver – B.A.C. above zero

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on January 14, 2025, in Moosonee.

In addition, the accused received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS).

The OPP reminds the public that impaired driving remains one of the leading causes of death on Ontario’s roads. Young drivers (under 22 years-of-age) in Ontario are subject to a zero-tolerance policy for alcohol and drugs, meaning they must maintain a blood alcohol concentration of zero while driving.

Morgan TEMPLE – Drunk Driving

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – Driver facing multiple charges after traffic complaints called in on Highway 401.

On December 10, 2024, at 3:57 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to the Westbound lanes of Highway 401 in Thames Centre, for the reports of a possible impaired driver.

With assistance from members of the public, the vehicle was located on Wilton Grove Road in the City of London, at which time a traffic stop was initiated.

As a result, Morgan TEMPLE, a 26-year-old of St. Thomas, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Liquor Licence Control Act and Cannabis Control Act with:

·      Dangerous operation

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

·      Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on January 23, 2025.

The Middlesex OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.

Christopher DEMERS – Drunk Driving

(DRUMMOND/NORTH ELMSLEY TWP, ON) – – The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an Ottawa resident with impaired driving.

Officers respond to a single vehicle collision on Highway-7 in Drummond/North Elmsley Township on Monday, December 9, 2024, at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Officers investigating the collision arrested one of the drivers and transported the individual to the Lanark Detachment for testing.

As a result of the investigation, Christopher DEMERS, age 44, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – Alcohol         

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on January 13, 2025.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension) and vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

William MACINNIS – Drunk Driving

(BECKWITH TWP, ON) – The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Beckwith Township resident and a McNab/Braeside Township resident with impaired driving.

Officers responded to a traffic complaint on Highway-7 in Beckwith Township on Friday, December 6, 2024, shortly before 8:00 p.m.

Officers arrested one driver and transported the individual to the Carleton Place Detachment for testing.

As a result of the investigation, William MACINNIS, age 58, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on January 13, 2025.

Officers also responded to a single vehicle collision on Waba Road in Mississippi Mills Township on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at approximately 6:10 p.m.

A male was arrested and transported to the Renfrew OPP Detachment for testing.

As a result of the investigation, Donald SLATER, age 61, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – Alcohol

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on January 27, 2025.

Both individual’s driver’s licences have been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension) and vehicles have been impounded for seven days.

Raymond JACQUES – Drunk Driving

(MADOC TWP., ON) – A single-vehicle crash in Madoc Township has led to impaired driving charges.

On Saturday, December 7, 2024, just before 6:00 p.m., members of Central Hastings Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a collision at the intersection of Highway 7 and Cooper Road. A vehicle had left the road, collided with a hydro pole and then came to rest in the ditch. The driver was reported to be attempting to drive the vehicle out of the ditch. 

As a result of the investigation, Raymond JACQUES, age 63 of Madoc, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on December 19, 2024.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension) and vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

Jason MCGILLEN – Drunk Driving

(TOWNSHIP OF HAMILTON, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual with impaired driving.

On December 8, 2024, shortly after 12:30 a.m., an officer was on patrol when they observed a pickup truck unable to maintain its lane as it was travelling westbound on Highway 401 in the Township of Hamilton.

The vehicle was stopped and following speaking to the driver, OPP entered into an impaired operation investigation and an Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand was made. The individual provided a sample of breath and with the result of ‘Fail’, the accused was taken into custody and transported to a local detachment for further tests.

Jason MCGILLEN (aged 33), from Oshawa, has been charged with:

–       Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

–       Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs.

In addition to future court dates for both the accused, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.

The OPP Festive R.I.D.E (Reduced Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign kicked off on November 21, 2024, and runs until January 1, 2025.

The Northumberland OPP urges everyone to plan ahead and arrange for a safe ride home rather than drive while impaired. Call a friend, call a cab or call Operation Red Nose. Remember that any amount of alcohol or drugs can impact your ability to make sound judgements.

David HARMS – Drunk Driving

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – A driver has been charged following a two-vehicle collision.

On December 7, 2024, at approximately 5:40 p.m., members of the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 3, Dunnville.

Upon speaking with the driver of one of the vehicles, it became apparent that they had consumed alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, 28-year-old David HARMS of Dunnville has been charged with the following Criminal Code offence:

  •  Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on January 21, 2025.
