Alannah HICKSON – Drunk Driving

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Driver charged with Impaired after vehicle leaves road and rolls.

On December 29, 2024, at 5:02 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Middlesex-London Paramedic Service and Middlesex Centre fire were dispatched to Hyde Park Road near Heritage Drive in Ilderton, Municipality of Middlesex Centre, for the report of a single vehicle rollover.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.

As a result, Alannah HICKSON, a 34-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Careless Driving

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on February 18, 2025.

The Middlesex OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.

31 Year Old Drunk Driver Arrested

(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) – A Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check on Meredith Street East at the Little Current swing bridge resulted in one person being arrested for impaired operation.

On December 29, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE check on Meredith Street East at the Little Current swing bridge. A vehicle came through the RIDE, and officers detected the odour of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver, along with other signs of impairment. Further testing on scene resulted in the driver being arrested for impaired operation.

As a result, the driver, Myles PITAWANAKWAT-JACKO, 31-years-old from Birch Island, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on January 21, 2025.

60 Year Old Facing Drunk Driving Charge – Name Released

(TINY TOWNSHIP, ON) –  An officer from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) while on patrol in Balm Beach, Tiny Township stopped a 1973 Chevrolet pick up on the Balm Beach Road near Lesperance Road at approximately 2:39 p.m. December 29, 2024.

The officer conducted a safety inspection of the vehicle and entered into an impaired driving investigation upon speaking with the lone driver.

As a result of the investigation, Alfred SCHERER 60 years of Tiny Township has been charged criminally with the following offences.

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

And further with

  • Operate unsafe vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on the January 9, 2025, and was also served a 90 day drivers licence suspension. The involved vehicle was towed and subject to a 7 day vehicle impound in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

LOBO Arrested For Drunk Driving

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Mississauga resident with impaired operation related offences as the result of a traffic complaint.

On December 27, 2024, at approximately 12:20 a.m., Dufferin OPP officers received a traffic complaint in the area of Highway 10 in the Township of Melancthon. Officers were able to locate the vehicle in the area of Highway 10 and County Road 17 and conducted a traffic stop. After a brief conversation, the officers were quickly led to an impaired driving investigation.

Samara LOBO, a 23-year-old female, from Mississauga has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused individual is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville. Their driver’s licence was suspended 90 days, and their vehicle impounded for 7 days.

MCLENNAN – Drunk Driving

(CAVAN-MONAGHAN TOWNSHIP, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving after stopping a vehicle for speeding on Highway 115.

On Friday December 27, 2024, shortly after 3:30pm, Peterborough County OPP officers were conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 115. An officer’s attention was drawn towards a vehicle that was traveling at an apparent high rate of speed. After obtaining a speed reading on LIDAR of 145km in a 100km zone, the officer conducted a traffic stop.

After a brief conversation with the driver, the officer made a demand for the Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver complied with the demand and provided a sample of their breath resulting in a reading of ‘Fail’, at which point they were arrested.  

Jordan MCLENNAN (age 26) of Petawawa, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on January 28, 2025.

Melissa BEAUPRE – Drunk Driving

(BLIND RIVER, ON)- East Algoma OPP lays 53rd impaired charge in 2024.  

On December 27, 2024, the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting patrol duties in the Town of Blind River. At approximately 12:30 a.m., while approaching Hanes Avenue from Youngfox Road, officers observed a vehicle on Hanes Avenue make a wide right-hand turn onto Youngfox Road, narrowly missing the police cruiser.

The officers located the vehicle at an address on Youngfox Road. During their interaction with the driver, they determined that alcohol had been consumed. When the driver refused to comply with a roadside breath demand, they were arrested and transported to Blind River detachment for further testing.

Melissa BEAUPRE, 35 years-old from Blind River, was charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Operation while impaired-alcohol
  • Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on February 6, 2025.

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension and the car was impounded for seven days.

Dewayne MIGWANS – Drunk Driving

(MANITOWANING, ON) – One person has been arrested and is facing impaired related charges following a Reduced Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check in Manitowaning.

On December 1, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting a RIDE check at the intersection of Queen Street and Michael’s Bay Road in Manitowaning. A vehicle came through the check, and officers detected on odour of alcohol coming from the driver. Further testing on scene resulted in the driver being arrested for impaired operation.

As a result, the driver, Dewayne MIGWANS, 43-years-old from Wikwemikong, was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired -blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Drive motor vehicle – no licence

The drivers licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on January 7, 2025.

Police Cruiser Involved In Drunk Driving Collision

(KENORA, ON) – While on general patrol in Kenora, an officer was struck by a vehicle, leading to criminal charges being laid against the impaired driver.

On December 26, 2024, shortly after 8:00 pm, in the downtown core of Kenora, a member of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had collided with the officer’s cruiser. No injuries were reported.

Investigation determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol, and an approved screening device (ASD) test was administered. The driver failed the test and was arrested and transported to the Kenora Detachment where additional breath testing was completed.    

Caleb BRYANT-SKEAD, 21-years-old, from Kenora, Ontario is charged criminally with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was further charged with:

·      Disobey stop sign – fail to stop, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

·      Driver motor vehicle – no licence, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Kenora Ontario Court of Justice on January 23, 2025, to answer to the criminal charges.

This year’s Festive RIDE Campaign runs from November 21, 2024 to January 1, 2025. Citizens are reminded to do their part during the campaign by never driving after consuming alcohol or taking drugs, and never letting anyone else drive if you know or suspect that they have consumed either.

Niagra Police Naming Names

In an effort to bring further attention and deterrence to driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, the Niagara Regional Police Service will be reporting the names of those people who are charged with an alleged criminal impaired driving offence in the Region.

In addition to being charged, these individuals are also bound by a Ministry of Transportation 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and are prohibited from operating a motor vehicle on a roadway. The public is encouraged to contact the Niagara Regional Police Service Traffic Safety Hotline or Crime Stoppers to report those who are driving in contravention of the suspension.

The following individuals have been charged criminally with impaired driving by alcohol or drugs, driving with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 mgs or above of alcohol in 100 ml of blood, or refusing to provide a breath / blood sample.

19 Year Old Drunk Driver Attempts To Evade Police

(Nottawasaga, ON) – Members from the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) Program on County Road 90 in Essa Township where a driver has been charged with Impaired Driving offences.  

On Dember 25,2024, at 11:50 p.m., officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. program on County Road 90 in Essa Township. Officers observed an approaching motor vehicle turn around in attempt to avoid the R.I.D.E. Program. Officers engaged in a pursuit attempting to stop the vehicle, however, the vehicle failed to stop. Officers disengaged the pursuit for public safety.

On December 26, 2024, at 12:34 a.m., officers were conducting patrols along County Road 90 and observed the vehicle that had previously avoided the R.I.D.E. Program. Officers followed the vehicle and were able to confirm it was the same vehicle. After the vehicle pulled into a parking lot, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop when the driver attempted to evade officers again. However, this time the driver drove into a hydro box and the vehicle became stuck. The driver did not sustain any injuries.

Through investigation, Landon GRANT, 19-year-old from Angus was arrested and charged with

–      Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Dangerous Operation

–      Flight from Peace Officer

In addition to the charges the driver received a 90-day licence suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

The accused was released from custody with conditions and will appear later in court.

Whether you are impaired by alcohol or drugs, impaired is impaired and driving under the influence of either is a criminal offence.

Hwy 6 Drunk Driving Arrest

(CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On December 24, 2024, at approximately 9:45 p.m. an officer from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wellington County Detachment initiated a traffic stop on Highway 6, near Fergus.

As a result of the investigation, Wayne A. Hamilton, 43 years-old of Guelph, was charged with:

SUDAK Arrested At RIDE

(CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On December 24, 2024, at approximately 4:15 p.m., officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wellington County Detachment were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Orangeville Road, Fergus.

During the operation, a vehicle was stopped, and the driver was assessed for sobriety. As a result of the investigation, Christopher J. SUDAK, of Guelph, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – alcohol and drugs contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Operation While Impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Operation While Prohibited contrary to the Criminal Code
  • Possess Licence While Prohibited contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph, on January 10, 2025.

19 Year Old Drunk Driver Arrested

(ORILLIA, ON) – A traffic complaint by a member of the public has led to an impaired arrest by the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

On December 24, 2024, just after 11:30 pm, officers were dispatched to a traffic complaint on Highway 11 Southbound near Memorial Avenue in the City of Orillia. The witness observed the vehicle strike a snowbank before getting stuck in a ditch on the highway. The accused was located by officers in the driver’s seat of the vehicle and showed signs of intoxication, leading officers into an impaired investigation. The accused was arrested and transported back to the Orillia Detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Cassandra WORSTER, 19-year-old from Huntsville, has been charged with the following:

·      Operation while Impaired (CC),

·      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus) (CC),

·      Novice driver – B.A.C above zero (HTA), and

·      Young driver – B.A.C above zero (HTA)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia at a later date. Their driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and vehicle impounded for 7 days.

78 Year Old From Wasaga Beach Arrested

(Wasaga Beach, ON) – Officers from the Huronia West OPP were able to respond promptly on Christmas Eve to reports of a black sedan driving in the oncoming lane of traffic and striking snow-banks on River Road West in the Town of Wasaga Beach.

At approximately 9:02 p.m. officers conducted a traffic stop with the suspect vehicle and immediately entered into an impaired driving investigation. The driver was ultimately arrested for impaired operation and was transported to detachment for additional testing.

The accused, Diane HANDY, a 78-year-old female from Wasaga Beach is charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol

–      Operation while impaired – 80+

The accused has been released and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date. Until then she faces a 90-day drivers licence suspensions and 7-day vehicle impoundment.

43 Year Old From London Arrested In Central Huron

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a London resident with an Impaired driving offence following a traffic stop in a “Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere” (R.I.D.E.) check on December 22, 2024, in the Municipality of Central Huron. 

Just before 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 22, 2024, Huron County OPP officers stopped a vehicle on Stone School Line in Central Huron.

The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired operation and transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton where they provided breath samples before a qualified Intoxilyzer Breath Technician. Breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over the legal limit.

Kevin NAGLE, 43 years of age from London has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80,

–      Dangerous Operation.

The accused was additionally charged with offences found in the Liquor Licence Control Act (LLCA), and the Tobacco Tax Act (TTA).

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on January 13, 2025.
