MUSACK – Drunk Driving

(SPRINGWATER TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving related charges because of a traffic tip.

On January 8, 2025, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Huronia West OPP officers responded to a traffic tip of a possible impaired driver on South Orr Lake Road, heading eastbound towards Hillsdale.

At approximately 12:57 p.m., officers attended the location and observed the vehicle with all four tires off the ground, on top of a snowbank on the edge of a driveway. Officers noticed an odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath which led into an impaired driving investigation. As a result, Dale MUSACK, 49-year-old of Springwater Township, was arrested and has been charged with the following:

·      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol and Drugs

·      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

MARTYN – Drunk Driving

(ESSA, ON) – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver for driving while impaired in the Township of Essa.

On January 7, 2025, shortly 5:00 p.m., Nottawasaga OPP received a call for a single motor vehicle collision on County Road 56, just North of the 20th Sideroad in Essa Township.

The Officer arrived on scene shortly after, located a white 4 door passenger vehicle in the ditch on County Road 56. An ASD demand was issued and as of a result of the investigation the driver,

Elaina MARTYN, 29 years-old, of Essa, was charge with:  

• Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

• Resist Peace Officer

In addition to the charges, the driver was issued a 90-day license suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. 

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Bradford on February 6, 2025, to answer to the charges.

18 Year Old Drunk Driver Arrested

(LAKESHORE, ON)-On January 3, 2025, at 2:40 a.m., members form the Lakeshore detachment Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on 1st Street near Railway Avenue in Belle River, Municipality of Lakeshore.

Officers arrived on scene and spoke to the driver of the vehicle. As a result, the driver was arrested and transported to a local OPP detachment.

Ethan COURNOYER, an 18-year-old of Lakeshore, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor to speak to the charges on January 21, 2025.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

RUSTAMOV Was Arrested

(LAKESHORE, ON)-On January 4, 2025, at 9:28 p.m., members of the Lakeshore Detachment Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on County Road 22, Municipality of Lakeshore.

A good Samaritan called 911 to report a suspected impaired driver and remained with the vehicle that had come to a stop on County Road 22.

Officers arrived on scene and arrested the driver; they were transported to a local OPP detachment.

As a result, Rustam RUSTAMOV, a 40-year-old of Windsor, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Resist Peace Officer (Two Counts)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor to speak to the charges on January 17, 2025.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

LANGLOIS – Drunk Driving

(ESSEX, ON)- Driver facing charges after traffic complaint in Essex.

On January 4, 2025, at 8:36 p.m., members of the Essex Detachment Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on County Road 12, Town of Essex.

Officer located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver was arrested and transported to a local OPP detachment.

As a result, Brooke LANGLOIS, a 29-year-old of Essex, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor to speak to the charges on January 16, 2025.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

CRAMP – Drunk Driving

(TOWN OF WASAGA BEACH, ON) – The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving after a single vehicle collision.

On January 7, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Huronia West OPP officers were conducting general patrol on Main Street in The Town of Wasaga Beach and located a single vehicle collision where a vehicle had struck a light pole. After speaking with the driver, officers conducted an impaired driving investigation. As a result, Beverly CRAMP, 58-year-old of Wasaga Beach, was arrested and has been charged with the following:

·      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Brendan Bower – Drunk Driving

(SOUTHGATE, ON) – On January 7, 2025, at 1:14 p.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Main Street in Southgate.

A vehicle entered the RIDE program and police determined that the driver’s ability to operate the motor vehicle was impaired.

As a result of the investigation, Brendan Bower, 30-years-old from Southgate was charged with:

·      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on January 30, 2025.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

Sabrina MISHIBINIJIMA Was Arrested

(ESPANOLA, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged after a traffic stop in Espanola.

On December 31, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a sobriety check. During the stop, police detected an odour of cannabis emanating from the vehicle. As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested for impaired operation.

Additionally, a search of the vehicle resulted in police seizing approximately 50 suspected hydromorphone pills, with an estimated street value of $130, and approximately 0.5g of suspected crack cocaine, with an estimated street value of $75.

As a result, the driver, Sabrina MISHIBINIJIMA, 38-years-old from Wikwemikong, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood drug concentration
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule II substance – other drugs
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on February 3, 2025.

The OPP has highly trained Drug Recognition Evaluator (DRE) officers who are skilled in the detection and investigation of drug impaired drivers. Driver On Shrooms Calls Cops, Gets Arrested

(SELWYN TOWNSHIP, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with the first impaired driving charge in 2025.

On Wednesday January 1, 2025, shortly before 8:30am, a 911 call was received by an individual stating his friend was ‘overdosing on mushrooms’. During the call, the individual who was the driver of their vehicle, admitted to also having consumed ‘mushrooms’.

Officers arrived on scene to find EMS already there and assessing one person. Officers approached the driver of the vehicle and after a brief conversation with the driver, the officer made a demand for the Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver complied with the demand and provided a sample of their breath resulting in a reading of ‘Fail’, at which point they were arrested.  

Kshitij RATHOUR (age 28) of Peterborough, ON., was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on January 28, 2025.

Ioan STRATAN – Drunk Driving

(SPRINGWATER TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving related charges.

On January 6, 2025, at approximately 11:20 p.m., Huronia West OPP officers were conducting general patrols in Springwater Township, in the area of Mayer Road. The officer was alerted to speeding motorist and conducted a traffic stop.

While engaging with the driver, the officer noticed the driver showing signs of impairment which led into an impaired driving investigation. As a result, Ioan STRATAN, 25-year-old of Toronto, was arrested and has been charged with the following:

·      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Cody BROWNLEE Facing Numerous Charges

(WEST NIPISSING, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged a driver with multiple offences after receiving a call from a concern motorist.

On January 3, 2025, at approximately 2:25 p.m., the Nipissing West Detachment of the OPP responded to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver on Highway 17, West Nipissing.

The vehicle was located, and the driver was arrested for impaired driving, then transported to an OPP detachment for further testing.

After searching the vehicle, police located and seized a bottle of open liquor.

As a result of the investigation, Cody BROWNLEE, 33 years-of-age, from Gravenhurst, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while prohibited
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Obstruct plate
  • Fail to have insurance card
  • Possess licence while prohibited
  • Improper lights
  • Improper mudguards

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on February 6, 2025, in North Bay.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Brandon WAWIA – Drunk Driving, Assault

(LAKE HELEN, ON) – Shortly before 2:00 pm on January 2, 2025 members of the Nipigon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with assistance from the Lake Helen Police Service were notified of a collision between an all terrain vehicle (ATV) and a truck towing a large sign.

An off-duty Lake Helen Police Officer detained the driver and notified OPP. The truck had pulled onto Highway 11 from New Street in Lake Helen when it was struck from behind by the driver of the ATV.

As a result of the investigation, Brandon WAWIA, 26-years old, of Lake Helen First Nation has been criminally charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Assault Peace Officer

He was released with a future court date in the Ontario Court of Justice in Nipigon.

Boris GUIDOS – Drunk Driving

(PEMBROKE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) 2024 Festive R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign commenced on November 21, 2024, and continued until January 1, 2025. During the fifth week of the campaign from December 19 to December 25, 2024, officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the OPP conducted 14 RIDE checks throughout the detachment area.

During the RIDE checks drivers were found to be in full compliance with the law and no impaired driving or over 80mg charges were reported as a result of the RIDE campaign.

Despite the compliance at the RIDE checks, UOV OPP officers charged one driver with impaired driving-related offences during the week.

On December 20, 2024, at approximately 3:40 a.m., members of the UOV OPP responded to a report of an oddly parked vehicle along Highway 17 in Whitewater Region. Police seized open alcohol from the vehicle and as part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized.  The driver was transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result of this incident 47-year-old Boris GUIDOS of Ottawa has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus
  • Having care or control of a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on January 21, 2025. The accused also had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.

ROUBLE – Drunk Driving

(BURKS FALLS, ON) – The Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one individual following a complaint about a potentially impaired driver.

On January 4, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m. members of the Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint of a possible impaired driver on Ontario Street, Burks Falls. Officers located the vehicle and further investigation led to the driver being arrested for impaired operation.

As a result of the investigation, Timothy ROUBLE, 54 years-of-age of South River, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sundridge on February 20, 2025. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers License Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Michael STRATTON – Drunk Driving

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a New Tecumseth resident with impaired operation related offences as the result of a traffic complaint.

On January 5, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Dufferin OPP officers were dispatched to a traffic complaint in the area of County Road 124 in the Township of Melancthon. Officers located the vehicle a few moments later and conducted a traffic stop. After a brief conversation the officers were quickly led to an impaired driving investigation.

Michael STRATTON, a 43-year-old male, from New Tecumseth has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

•      Dangerous operation

The accused individual is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville. Their driver’s licence was suspended 90 days, and their vehicle impounded for 7 days.
