Hit & Run – Fredrick RANKIN Arrested

(NEW TECUMSETH, ON) – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver involved in a collision with impaired operation in the Town of New Tecumseth.

On March 21, 2025, at 6:30 p.m., Nottawasaga OPP responded to a report of a passenger vehicle that had just struck a parked car in Cookstown then continued westbound on Highway 89 towards Alliston, no injuries were reported. 

Officers quickly located the vehicle, where the driver Fredrick RANKIN, 57-years-old of Keswick, displayed obvious signs of impairment and was arrested at 6:41 p.m. for the following:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Fail to remain

In addition to the charges, the driver was issued a 90-day license suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. 

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Bradford on May 1, 2025, to answer to the charges.

Anna TOMCHYNSKA Was Arrested

(OTTAWA, ON) – Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid impaired driving related charges against an individual from Ottawa.

Shortly after 12:00 a.m. on March 23, OPP received a traffic complaint regarding a possible impaired driver travelling westbound on Highway 417 near Pinecrest Rd. The vehicle was reported to be travelling well below the speed limit and weaving through traffic. OPP located and arrested the driver for Impaired Driving. The driver was taken back to Ottawa Detachment for a breath test where they registered twice the legal limit.

Anna TOMCHYNSKA, 33 years of age faces the following charges:

·      Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·      Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

Tomchynska received a 90-day driving suspension and her vehicle was impounded for seven days. She is set to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

HOLDER Facing Numerous Charges

(GRAVENHURST, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person with several offenses including impaired driving on Friday night.

On Friday March 21, 2025, just before 11:00 p.m., a Bracebridge OPP officer was conducting proactive patrols in the town of Gravenhurst and became concerned about the driving behaviour of a motorist on Winewood Avenue. The officer followed the vehicle onto Bethune Drive and then Industrial Drive, attempting to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle eventually came to a stop near a residence on Forest Glen Drive and the officer arrested the driver. Police have charged 23-year-old Dylan HOLDER of Orangeville, ON with the following:

  • Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a)
  • Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b)
  • Dangerous Operation CC 320.13(1)
  • Flight From Peace Officer CC 320.17
  • Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor LLCA42(1)(a)
  • Disobey Sign HTA 182(2)

He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on April 22, 2025 to answer to his charges. Furthermore, the accused’s drivers license has been suspended for 90-days and their vehicle impounded for 7 days.

Brandon HRAZDIRA – Drunk Driving

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation following traffic enforcement.

On March 20, 2025, at around 3:15 a.m., police were on County Road 2 in the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand when they observed a passenger vehicle travelling at 122 Km/h in a posted 70 Km/h limit.

The driver fled from police and the vehicle and was soon located at a nearby residence. Officers spoke to the driver and entered into an impaired operation investigation. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand was made for a sample of breath. The person complied and with the result of ‘FAIL’, the individual was taken into custody and transported to a local detachment for further tests.

As a result, Brandon HRAZDIRA (age 31) from Whitby, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Flight from peace officer

–      Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed

–      Fail to notify change of address – licence.

In addition to a future court date, the driver was issued a 90-day licence suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

LANDRY Was Arrested

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON)- Pickup truck makes a wide right turn and almost strikes a fully marked OPP cruiser.

On March 20, 2025, at approximately 10:15 p.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were in a fully marked cruiser travelling northbound on Highway 108. Police approached the traffic lights at Highway 108 and Hillside Drive South and entered the left turning lane while doing so a red pickup truck was turning right from Hillside Drive South almost striking the OPP cruiser. 

A traffic stop was initiated on Highway 108 north and while speaking to the driver police determined alcohol had been consumed and the driver was arrested.  

Paul LANDRY, 58 years-of-age from Ottawa was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Turn -not in safety

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on April 10, 2025.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension.

Jacob FLOREAN Was Arrested

(ESPANOLA, ON) – One person has been arrested for impaired operation at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check.

On March 20, 2025, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE check on Panache Lake Road in Espanola. A vehicle came through the RIDE, and police conducted Mandatory Alcohol Screening (MAS) on the driver. As a result, the driver was arrested for impaired operation.

The driver, Jacob FLOREAN, 38-years-old from Espanola, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on April 7, 2025.

2 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(LENNOX AND ADDINGTON COUNTY, ON) – Lennox and Addington County members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged two people with impaired driving involving collisions in a four-hour window.

On Thursday, March 20, 2025, shortly after 12:00 p.m., L&A County OPP members were called about a vehicle that was involved in a collision on Melrose Road in Tyendinaga Township. Police located the vehicle nearby and the driver was arrested.

Taylor THORNE, a 34-year-old from Tyendinaga Township was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – over 80 mgs of alcohol

Also on Thursday, just after 4:00 p.m., L&A County OPP was called after a vehicle was observed in a driveway in Newburgh with considerable damage. Following an investigation,

Patricia STONE, a 63-year-old from Newburgh was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – over 80 mgs of alcohol
  • Fail to stop after accident

Both of the accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on April 15, 2025. Their driver’s licences were suspended for 90 days, and their vehicles were impounded.

Marlo BELANGER – Drunk Driving

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – A single motor vehicle collision has resulted in impaired driving charges for one Kirkland Lake resident.

On March 1,2025, at approximately 11:20 p.m. the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Carter Avenue in Kirkland Lake. The subject motor vehicle was located off the roadway and had collided with a snowbank and a tree. Upon speaking with the driver, officers determined the individual had consumed an alcoholic beverage. Officers also observed several open containers of alcohol in the vehicle. The driver was arrested and transported to the Kirkland Lake OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Marlo BELANGER, a 32-year-old from Kirkland Lake, has been charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus

·      Operation while impaired by alcohol

·      Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

·      Driving while under suspension

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. The accused was released from custody and was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on March 20, 2025.

WEST – Drunk Driving

(PEMBROKE, ON) – A local driver is facing Criminal Code (CC) charges after a single-vehicle collision in the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment area.

On March 13, 2025, at approximately 9:00 a.m., the UOV OPP responded to a collision involving a pickup truck and street light pole at the intersection of Angus Campbell Drive and Cockburn Crescent in the City of Pembroke. Investigation found that the vehicle was northbound on Angus Campbell Drive when it lost control and left the roadway, striking the light pole. The driver, who was the lone occupant of the pickup, was not seriously injured. 

As part of the investigation a Roadside Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was transported to the detachment for further testing. Test results were more than double the legal blood alcohol limit. Speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors in the collision. 

As a result of this incident Terrence James WEST, age 64 of Pembroke, has been charged with the following CC offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus
  • Dangerous operation

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke April 7, 2025.

DERUITER – Drunk Driving

(NORTH MIDDLESEX, ON) – Driver facing impaired charge after motorcycle leaves road and enters ditch.

On March 19, 2025, at 7:07 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Middlesex-London Paramedic Service were dispatched to Sylvan Drive in North Middlesex, for the report of a single-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle.

The lone rider was placed under arrest and transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result, Michael DERUITER, a 62-year-old of Strathroy, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on May 6, 2025.

Prabveer SANGHA – Drunk Driving

(CALEDON, ON) – Members of the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation following a single motor vehicle collision.

On March 15, 2025, shortly before 3:00 a.m., an officer patrolling the area of McLaughlin Road and Tim Manley Avenue came across a single motor vehicle collision. During the investigation, the officer formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol, leading to the driver’s arrest. 

As a result, Prabveer SANGHA, 18, of Brampton, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol

• Operation while impaired – Blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

• Notice driver – B.A.C. above zero

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on April 3, 2025, to answer to the charges. The driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven.

Under Ontario’s zero tolerance law for young, novice and commercial drivers, you cannot have any alcohol in your system if you are:

• age 21 or under

• a driver of any age who holds a G1, G2, M1, or M2 licence

• driving a vehicle that requires an A-F driver’s licence or Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration (CVOR)

• driving a road-building machine

Christopher HASSELL – Drunk Driving

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charge a Centre Wellington Township resident criminally, stemming from a RIDE program.

On March 19, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP Traffic Management Unit were conducting proactive “Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere” (RIDE) program on Orangeville Road within Fergus, when they initiated a traffic stop on a motor vehicle to determine sobriety.

As a result of the investigation, Christopher HASSELL, a 49-year-old of Centre Wellington Township is charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Unmarked cigarettes
  • Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has since been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on April 1, 2025.

61 Year Old Drunk Driver Arrested

(ESSA, ON) – The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver involved in a single vehicle collision with impaired operation in the Township of Essa.

On March 19, 2025, shortly after 4:00 p.m., Nottawasaga OPP responded to a single motor vehicle in the ditch in the area of Underhill Court and 5th line in the Township of Essa. No injuries were reported. 

Upon arrival the driver Laura DI VALENTIN, 61-years-old of Essa Township, displayed obvious signs of impairment and was arrested at 4:36 p.m. for the following:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

In addition to the charges, the driver was issued a 90-day license suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. 

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Bradford on May 1, 2025, to answer to the charges.

BELISLE – Drunk Driving


(RENFREW, ON) – 
The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person after locating a parked vehicle in the live passing lane on Highway 17 in McNab-Braeside.

On March 18, 2025, at approximately 1:30 a.m., while conducting patrols on Highway 17, Renfrew OPP located what looked like an abandoned vehicle parked in the passing lanes between Goshen Road and McCowan Drive facing eastbound.

Police approached the vehicle and located the driver sleeping inside.

As a result of the investigation, Kurtis Patrick Matthew BELISLE, age 33, of Ottawa, was charged with:

·        Operation while impaired- alcohol

·        Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 9, 2025. The individual’s driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days.

PETTIGREW – Drunk Driving

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person after receiving a traffic complaint in the Town of Renfrew.

On March 14, 2025, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Renfrew OPP received a report of a possible impaired driver.

Police located the vehicle and as a result of the investigation, Robert PETTIGREW, age 54 of Greater Madawaska Township, was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired- alcohol

·      Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 9, 2025. The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days.
