88 Year Old Drunk Driver Facing Hit & Run Charge

(INGERSOLL, ON) – An individual from Cambridge is facing impaired driving-related charges stemming from a fail to remain collision that occurred on Canterbury Street in the Town of Ingersoll.

On April 24, 2025, at approximately 5:15 p.m., members of the Oxford Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment were dispatched to Canterbury Street in the Town of Ingersoll for a report of a single vehicle, motor vehicle collision where the driver of the vehicle had failed to remain at the scene of the collision.

Officers made patrols and located the subject motor vehicle.

Manuel Furtado, 88-years-old, of Cambridge, has been charged with:  

·      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol

·      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

·      Dangerous Operation

·      Failure to stop after accident

There were no reported injuries because of this collision.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on June 3, 2025.

31 Year Old From Huron-Kinloss Arrested

(HURON-KINLOSS, ON) – On April 19, 2025, at approximately 10:13 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a motor vehicle collision along Ripley Street, Township of Huron-Kinloss.

On arrival, officers observed that a pick-up truck had struck a parked passenger vehicle. The investigating officer detected signs of impairment from the involved driver. The driver was placed under arrest and transported for further testing.

Donald MCGILL, 31-years-old, of the Township of Huron-Kinloss was charged with:

  • Impaired Operation (80 plus), CC 320.14(1)(b)
  • Dangerous Operation, CC 320.13(1)

The accused is set to appear in the Walkerton Court of Justice on May 21, 2025.

One From South Huron Arrested – Details Released

(BLUEWATER, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a South Huron resident with criminal driving offences following a traffic complaint in the Municipality of Bluewater on April 6th, 2025. 

Just after 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 06, 2025, Huron County OPP officers responded to a traffic complaint in Bluewater. Officers located the suspect vehicle and driver. Police spoke to the driver and discovered that they had consumed alcohol prior to driving.

The driver was subsequently arrested for impaired operation and transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton where they provided breath samples before a qualified Intoxilyzer Breath Technician. Breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over three times the legal limit.

Marcel WOERTINK, 59 years of age from South Huron has been charged with:

–      Impaired Operation – alcohol and drug,

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The vehicle involved was towed and impounded for 7 days, and the accused’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on May 26, 2025.

Simon SLAVISH-FISHER Was Arrested

(HALIBURTON COUNTY, ON) – Members of the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver of a motor vehicle with an impaired operation related offence as the result of a traffic complaint.

On April 24, 2025, at approximately 9:23 p.m., Haliburton Highlands OPP were on general patrol in the Village of Haliburton when officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. After speaking with the driver, the officers were quickly led to an impaired driving investigation.

As a result, Simon SLAVISH-FISHER, a 38-year-old of Haliburton has been charged with:

·       Operation while impaired – blood concentration (80 plus)

And further with the following Provincial Offence:

.       Drive without proper rear light

In addition to the charges, the accused was issued a 90-day licence suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Minden at a future date.

Edward HANSON Arrested After Poor Driving Complaint

(TAY VALLEY TWP, ON) – – The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Sunderland resident with impaired driving.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 7, just West of Perth, in Tay Valley Township on Thursday, April 24, 2025, just after 6:00 p.m., after receiving complaints of poor driving.

The officer, while conducting a traffic investigation, arrested the driver and transported the individual to the Perth Detachment for testing.

As a result of the investigation, Edward HANSON, 49-years-old, of Sunderland, Ontario, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Drive no currently validated permit – Highway Traffic Act

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on May 26, 2025.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Kelly Rockey – Drunk Driving

(MISSISSIPPI MILLS TWP, ON) – – The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Toledo resident with impaired driving.

Officers conducted a traffic stop on County Road 29, outside of Pakenham, in Mississippi Mills Township on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, just after 9:00 p.m., after receiving complaints of a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road and the driver being confused.

The officers, while conducting a traffic investigation, arrested the driver and transported the individual to the Carleton Place Detachment for testing.

As a result of the investigation, Kelly Rockey, 50-years-old, of Toledo, Ontario, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Care/control of vehicle with open alcohol

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on May 26, 2025.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

William O’BRIEN Facing Numerous Charges

(BONNECHERE VALLEY TWP, ON) – A traffic stop in Bonnechere Valley Township (BVT) has resulted in several serious charges for a local resident.

On April 23, 2025, at approximately 10:00 p.m., officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 41. Police seized a loaded firearm, ammunition, alcohol and cannabis from the vehicle. The driver was taken to the detachment for testing. 

As a result of this investigation 40-year-old William O’BRIEN of BVT has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC), Cannabis Control Act (CCA), Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and Liquor Licence and Control Act (LLCA) offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis in open baggage
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on May 20, 2025.

Jaelyn LANDON – Drunk Driving

(KENORA, ON) – The Easter Long Weekend Traffic Campaign has come to a close, with officers from the Kenora OPP detachment working diligently to keep the roads safe and prevent impaired driving.

On April 21, 2025, shortly before 4:00 p.m., members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E. program on Norman Drive, in Norman, Ontario. A vehicle came to the R.I.D.E. program, and investigation determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol, and an approved screening device (ASD) test was administered. The driver failed the test and was arrested and transported to the Kenora Detachment where additional breath testing was completed.    

Jaelyn LANDON, 22-years-old, from Rat Portage First Nation, Ontario has been charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Novice Driver – B.A.C. above zero

In addition to the charges, the driver was issued a 90-day license suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on May 8, 2025.

Robert GREEN – Drunk Driving

(KENORA, ON) – Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were working hard this Easter long weekend keeping impaired drivers off our roads.

On April 17, 2025, shortly before 11:30 p.m., members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E. program on Railway Street in Kenora, Ontario. 37 Year Old Arrested Near Exeter – Details Released

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Lucan resident with several criminal driving offences following a traffic complaint near Exeter in the Municipality of South Huron on April 5th, 2025.

Fijo FRANCIS, 37 years of age from Lucan has been charged with:

The vehicle involved was towed and impounded for 45 days.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on May 05, 2025.

Martin JANZ – Drunk Driving

(LAKESHORE, ON) – One person has been charged following a collision in the Town of Kingsville.

On April 10, 2025, at approximately 5:06 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision on County Road 20 at Graham Side Road in the Town of Kingsville. 

Martin JANZ, 55-years-old of Kingsville, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused was scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Windsor on April 23, 2025, to answer to the charges.

(KAPUSKASING, ON) – A Kapuskasing resident is facing impaired driving and multiple off-road vehicle-related charges after being stopped while riding an ATV without a helmet.

On Saturday, April 19, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) on Riverside Drive in Kapuskasing for a helmet violation. During the stop, officers determined that the driver had consumed alcohol. The individual was arrested and transported to the Kapuskasing detachment for further testing.

As a result, Joseph CARON 25 years-of-age from Kapuskasing, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Driver fail to wear proper helmet

·        Driver fail to surrender licence

·        Drive off-road vehicle – no permit

·        Drive off-road vehicle – no insurance

·        Drive off-road vehicle – no number plate

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to next appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on June 2, 2025, in Kapuskasing. Additionally, they received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Amandeep BOPARAI – Drunk Driving

(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charge a Guelph resident with two criminal charges, stemming from an impaired investigation.

On April 22, 2025, at approximately 8:45 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP attended the scene of a single motor-vehicle collision, where the vehicle had rolled multiple times, knocking down hydro-poles and wires, causing significant damage and causing the entire road to be closed. The driver sustained minor injuries, was assessed medically by paramedics, but not required to attend local hospital. Thankfully, no one else was hurt as a result of this poor decision.

As a result of this investigation, Amandeep BOPARAI, a 46-year-old of Guelph is charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on May 6. 2025.

Kyle PORCHERON – Speeding & Drunk Driving

(BATCHAWANA BAY, ON) – A traffic stop north of the city has resulted in impaired driving charges for one individual.

On April 11, 2025, at approximately 3:51 p.m., an officer with the Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police was conducting general patrol on Highway 17, when they observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed near Batchawana Bay.

A traffic stop was conducted, and investigation determined the vehicle driver had consumed alcoholic beverages. As a result, Kyle PORCHERON, 25 years-of-age, of Batchawana Bay was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Careless driving
  • Speeding

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 5, 2025 in Sault Ste. Marie. The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Jerald CORNELIUS – Drunk Driving

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Driver facing Impaired driving charge after traffic stop.

On April 19, 2025, at 7:37 p.m., a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division (HSD), while travelling on Westminster Drive in the Municipality of Middlesex Centre, performed a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle.

The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex OPP Detachment.

As a result, Jerald CORNELIUS, a 42-year-old of Southwold Township, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act, Cannabis Control Act and Liquor Licence Control Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Drive motor vehicle – no licence

·      Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

·      Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on May 19, 2025.
