Million Dollar Weed & Tobacco Bust

(NIAGARA, ON) – Six illegal cannabis storefronts have been closed after enforcement action by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)-led Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET) in Niagara and the surrounding area. The illegal cannabis products and contraband tobacco seized have a value of approximately $1 million.

On June 5, 2024, members from the OPP-led PJFCET, OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, OPP Provincial Asset Forfeiture Unit, with assistance from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) uniform members and NRPS Emergency Task Unit members, executed nine search warrants in the Niagara area, with a focus on shutting down six storefronts operating illegally under the name “Indige Smoke” located in Hamilton, Fort Erie, Thorold, Welland, St. Catharines and Leamington. “Indige Smoke” was not authorized by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) to sell cannabis or cannabis products. These illegal storefronts will be held under Interim Closure Orders as per section 18(1) of the Cannabis Control Act (CCA).

Persons with interest in any of the locations (including owners) who wish to enter these premises may apply to the Superior Court of Justice to get permission under section 18(4) of the CCA. Anyone who enters the buildings that are subject to interim closure may be arrested and charged with Break and Enter, under section 348(1) of the Criminal Code (CC). 

As a result of the search warrants, the following items were seized:

  • More than $640,000 in illegal cannabis and illegal cannabis products
  • More than $350,000 in contraband tobacco
  • Approximately $29,000 CAD currency
  • Three handguns
  • One shotgun
  • Ammunition
  • Approximately two ounces of suspected cocaine
  • Digital scales
  • Computers
  • Cell phones
  • Video surveillance systems

Eleven individuals were arrested and charged with 34 offences contrary to the CC, the Cannabis Act and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Please refer to the Addendum of Charged Persons for a full list. The accused were released from custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Catharines on July 18, 2024.

Crack Cocaine Bust – Names Released

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – A Lasalle Quebec resident and two Whitesand First Nation residents have been charged after an arrest was made on Highway 527 by members of the Ontario Provincial Police Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Ontario Provincial Police Thunder Bay Detachment and members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)-led Provincial Joint Forces Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team (PGNG). The Accused were on their way to Armstrong and Whitesand First Nation.

Following a vehicle stop on June 13, 2024, the following items were seized:

  • 47 grams of crack cocaine.
  • 1 cellular telephone.
  • Spring loaded knife.

Tammy SHAPWAYKEESIC 37, of Whitesand First Nation has been charged with:

·          Possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine CDSA 5(2)

Dwayne NODIN 40, of Whitesand First Nation has been charged with:

·          Possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine CDSA 5(2)

Kadeem DRYDEN 30, of Lasalle Quebec has been charged with:

·          Possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine CDSA 5(2)

·          Possession of a prohibited device CC 92(2)

·          Possession of weapon contrary to order CC 117 x 2

·          Breach of Probation CC 733.1(1)

The accused were held in custody for a bail hearing.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) – Officers from the Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged two local residents for drug trafficking offences in the municipality.

At approximately 12:00 noon on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, officers received a call for assistance at a local hotel. While responding, they located two individuals breaching court orders. Following investigation, police have seized suspected illicit substances including methamphetamine and cocaine, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and Canadian currency.

As a result of this investigation, Netania DUBROY, 20 years old, and Caroleen BEARDY, 24 years old, both from the Municipality of Sioux Lookout, have been arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a Schedule substance for the purpose of trafficking, and
  • Failure to comply with Release Order- two counts.

BEARDY faces additional charges including:

  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime,
  • Obstruct Peace Officer.

Both accused have been remanded into custody at the Kenora District Jail and are scheduled to appear before the Kenora Ontario Court of Justice on June 14, 2024.

Jeffrey BRUNNER & Michael COOPER Arrested

(PERTH COUNTY AND HURON COUNTY, ON) – On June 13, 2024, members of the Huron-Perth Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with the Wellington and Grey-Bruce CSCU teams, and the West Region Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), made two arrests following a drug trafficking investigation in Perth and Huron Counties.

The Huron-Perth CSCU executed two Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrants – one at a residence on Trafalgar St. Mitchell, West Perth, and at a residence on Ainley St., Brussels, Huron East.

As a result of the search warrants, two people were arrested and two were charged. Police seized purple and yellow fentanyl, methamphetamine, psilocybin, Canadian currency, and drug trafficking paraphernalia. Police also seized a Suzuki motorcycle, believed to be stolen.

The total estimated value of the drugs is approximately $25,000. The total estimated value of the seized property is $3700, and currency is just over $1600.

Michael COOPER, 42, of Huron East, has been charged with:

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (fentanyl)

–      Obstruct Peace Officer

–      Altering/Destroying/Removing a Vehicle Identification Number

–      Fail to Comply with Probation Order

Jeffrey BRUNNER, 50, of West Perth, has been charged with:

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (fentanyl)

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

–      Possession of a Schedule III Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking

The accused parties were held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The investigation is continuing.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(DRYDEN, ON) – Two local residents are facing drug trafficking charges following an investigation led by the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the Dryden OPP detachment and the Red Lake OPP CSCU. 

On June 12, 2024, just before 10:00 p.m., members of the OPP executed a search warrant at a residence on Pine Crescent in the City of Dryden.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of suspected illicit drugs, including cocaine, methamphetamine, morphine, oxycodone, and methylphenidate. Other items associated with drug trafficking were also seized.

As a result of the investigation, Mary Maicy MACHIMITY, 49-years-old, and Clayton THOMPSON, 52-years-old, of Dryden, have been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and the Criminal Code with the following offences:

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – 4 counts

·        Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking

·        Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

·        Failure to comply with Undertaking

The accused individuals have been remanded into custody at the Kenora District Jail and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Friday June 14, 2024.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Middlesex Centre resident facing drug trafficking charges after search warrant executed in Arva.

On June 11, 2024, members of the Middlesex-Elgin Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), OPP Canine and OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a search warrant at a residence on Medway Road in Arva, Middlesex Centre.

CSCU members recovered just under $12,000 worth of illicit drugs, approximately $10,000 in Canadian currency.

Lawand ABDUL-KADIR, a 30-year-old of Arva, has been charged under the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with:

  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Poss of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Poss of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin)

The accused was held for bail.

The investigation is continuing.

$23,000 Drug Bust – Names Released

(PARRY SOUND, ON) – The North East Region Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged two people with drug related offences.

On June 12, 2024, members of the North East Region CSCU assisted by OPP West Parry Sound Detachment executed a drug warrant at a residence on Park Lane in the Town of Parry Sound.

A search of the residence, officers seized over $1000.00 in Canadian currency and a quantity of drugs suspected to be cocaine and Fentanyl with an estimated street value of $23,000.

As a result of the investigation, Daniel Sealy, 36-years-of-age of Parry Sound was arrested and charged with

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking -Opioid
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5000.00
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order

Nicole Chevrette, 27-years-of-age of Parry Sound was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking -Opioid
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5000.00
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order

The accused were held for Bail Court at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound and are scheduled to appear on June 13, 2024.

Counterfeit Money & Drug Bust – Names Released

(ORILLIA, ON) – The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police executed three warrants in to City of Barrie, seizing a quantity of drugs, counterfeit money and Canadian currency.

In April 2024, Orillia OPP CSCU received information that lead them to a drug trafficking investigation. The investigation resulted in officers obtaining and executing search warrants for several locations within the City of Barrie.  

On June 12, 2024 Orillia OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) along with Barrie City Police CSCU, Dufferin and Huronia West OPP CSCU, Barrie Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Windsor Police Drug Unit and Orillia OPP uniform members, three search warrants were executed and six individuals are facing multiple charges.

Tysen BUDHA-JOHNSTON, 24-year-old of the City of Barrie has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking-opioid contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA)
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of Trafficking-cocaine CDSA 5(2)
  • Traffick in Schedule 1 substance- Cocaine CDSA 5(1)
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance- opioid CDSA 4(1)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)
  • Possessing Counterfeit Money CC 450(b)
  • Failure to comply with release order CC 145(5)(a)

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Adrian HUMPHREY, 26-year-old of no fixed address, has been charged with:

·        Traffick in Schedule 1 substance- cocaine CDSA 5(1)

·        Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking- cocaine CDSA 5(2)

·        Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking- opioid CDSA 5(2)

·        Possession of proceed of property obtained by crime over $5000 CC 354(1)(a)

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Natalie ARNOUK, 25-year-old form the City of Windsor, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking- opioid CDSA 5(2)

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000 CC 354(1)(a)

The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.

Patrick LOVE, 35-year-old of the City of Barrie, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking- cocaine CDSA 5(2)
  • Possession of Schedule 1 substances for the purpose of trafficking- opioid CDSA 5(2)
  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose CC 88

The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.

Shawn Cromwell, 36 -year-old of the City of Barrie was also arrested on unrelated, outstanding charges. The accused was held pending a bail hearing.

The following property has been seized:

  • 959 grams of cocaine
  • 175 grams of fentanyl
  • 10 oxycodone pills
  • 2.7 grams of methamphetamine
  • $30 000 in counterfeit Canadian currency
  • $7500 in Canadian currency
  • Replica firearm
  • Digital scales and drug packaging materials
  • Cellular devices

Drug Bust – 4 Arrested, Names Released

(BANCROFT, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) and OPP Bancroft Detachment were involved in a Controlled drugs and Substance Act search warrant which led to the arrest of four individual.

On June 12, 2024, Officers seized Fentanyl, Cocaine, methamphetamine, morphine pills, Adderall pills, cellular devices, drug paraphernalia (eg. Digital scales), Canadian Currency, ammunition, and a 60000k volt conductive energy weapon.

As a result of the investigation, all four individuals were held pending a bail hearing.

Trevor Conlin, 32 years of Bancroft Ontario, David Vautour, 34 years of Faraday Township, Lucas Brownlee, 34 years of Bancroft Ontario and Raymond White, 62 years of Bancroft Ontario have all been charged with:

  • Four (4) counts of Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, and morphine)
  • Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking amphetamine

Trevor Conlin was additionally charged with:

  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order and
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000.

David Vautour was additionally charged with:

  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • Two (2) counts of Fail to comply with Probation order.

Karson WHITE Arrested For Cocaine

(PLYMPTON-WYOMING TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Sunday June 9, 2024, at just prior to 3:30 a.m., a uniform member of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Confederation Line, Town of Plympton-Wyoming for a Highway Traffic Act violation.

During the traffic stop, the officer located a quantity of suspected illegal drugs in the vehicle, cocaine, with an estimated street value of approximately $800.

Karson WHITE, 21-year-old, from Watford, Ontario has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Cocaine

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice – Sarnia on July 17, 2024.

3 Arrested In Drug Bust

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – Three people face drug trafficking charges after the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) seized illegal drugs from a residence in Quinte West.

On June 5, 2024, the East Region Community Street Crime Unit, assisted by Quinte West OPP and the OPP Canine Unit, executed a search warrant on Sidney Street. Officers located a quantity of suspected cocaine and psilocybin, along with items typically associated with drug trafficking. Two adults and one youth were arrested at the scene. 

Shannon BROOKS, age 35 of Quinte West, has been charged with the following: 

  • Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Fail to comply with probation order

Courtney GILROY, aged 20 of Quinte West, has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Failure to comply with release order

A 17-year-old, whose name cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Fail to comply with sentence – two counts

All parties will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Belleville to deal with their matters.

Drug Bust – 2 Arrested

(WEST NIPISSING, ON) – Police arrested and charged two people with drug related offences.

On June 6, 2024, members from the Community Street Crime (CSC) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), executed a Controlled Drug Substance Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence on King Street, West Nipissing.

A search of the residence led to the seizure of drug paraphernalia, Canadian and U.S. currency, digital scales, air gun and drugs suspected to be fentanyl, methamphetamine, opioid and cocaine.

As a result of the investigation, two people have been arrested, Chantel DUCHANE, 42-years-of-age, from West Nipissing and Darcy YOUNG, 32-years-of-age from Garden Village Nipissing First Nation, both were charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – three counts
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Production of anything for use in, production of/trafficking in, schedule I or schedule III substance

Both accused were released and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on August 3, 2023, in North Bay.

4 Arrested In Drug Bust – Names Released

(ORANGEVILLE, ON) – Officers from the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) seized a quantity of drugs and charged four individuals after conducting a search warrant at a residence in the Town of Shelburne.

On June 6, 2024, members of the Dufferin Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) along with Dufferin uniform members, were led into a drug investigation in the Town of Shelburne. The investigation resulted in the officers obtaining and executing a search warrant and four individuals are facing multiple charges. In addition, the officers seized a large quantity of drugs.

James BOISSE-WHITE, 42-year-old from Shelburne has been charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime – under $5000

Ashlee CHANT, a 34-year-old from Shelburne has been charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine ·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime – under $5000

James AUSTIN, a 33-year-old from Shelburne has been charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime – under $5000

Chelsea DUBE, a 30-year-old from Shelburne has been charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime – under $5000

The following property was seized:

·      Cocaine – 110.5 grams

·      $1430 – Canadian currency

·      Money Counter

·      Vacuum Sealer

Melissa CARLE – Drug Trafficking

(PEMBROKE, ON.) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) have arrested one person in relation to drug trafficking after an investigation in the City of Pembroke.

On June 6, 2024, just after 5:00 p.m., OPP were investigating an incident that took place in the 1000 block of Pembroke St. East. During the investigation CSCU observed suspicious activity. As a result, one person was arrested.

During a search after the arrest police seized a quantity of cash along with suspected fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine tablets and crystal methamphetamine.

Melissa CARLE, 43 years old, of Pembroke has been charged with trafficking in schedule I substance three counts as well as one count of possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5,000.

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at a bail hearing on June 7, 2024

Drug Bust – 3 Charged

(ENNISKILLEN TOWNSHIP, ON) – On Monday June 3, 2024, at just after 2:30 a.m., a uniform member of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Petrolia Line, Enniskillen Township for a Highway Traffic Act violation.

During the traffic stop, officers located a quantity of suspected illegal drugs in the vehicle with an estimated street value of approximately $5000. As a result, the following individuals have been arrested and charged with the following:

Karson White, 21-year-old, no fixed address:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (x2)

Noah Smith, 26-year-old from Plympton-Wyoming:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (x2)

Ashley Smith, 26-year-old from Lambton Shores:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (x2)

All accused have been released and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice – Sarnia on July 17, 2024.
