Lorenzo CATALANO – Trafficking

(MADAWASKA VALLEY TWP, ON) – The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a person with drug charges after a R.I.D.E. check in Madawaska Valley Township.

On Thursday, March 6, 2025, shortly after 9:30 p.m., officers set up a R.I.D.E. checkpoint on Bay Street in Barry’s Bay. One person was arrested after a Roadside Screening Device was utilized. The individual was transported to the detachment for further testing. During the search of the vehicle, officers located suspected cocaine, suspected methamphetamine, suspected heroin, as well as cash.

Lorenzo CATALANO, 56 years old, of Richmond Hill was charged with two counts of possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking as well as possession of a schedule I substance.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 1, 2025.

Drug Bust – 2 Arrested

(TWEED, ON) – A drug trafficking investigation in the Tweed area has results in two arrests.

On Thursday, March 6, 2025, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit, assisted by the OPP Emergency Response Team, the Canine Unit and members of the Central Hastings Detachment, executed search warrants at locations on Mary Street and Victoria Street North in Tweed.

The investigation began in February into the sale of cocaine and other illegal drugs in Tweed, Madoc and other surrounding communities.

Officers seized nearly $2,300 in cash as well as items typically associated with drug trafficking. Two people were arrested.

Jeffrey GRIERSON, age 49 and Erin MULLET, age 46, both residents of Tweed, have been charged with:

  • Trafficking of a Schedule 1 substance
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

MULLETT was released from custody and GRIERSON was released following a bail hearing. Both are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on April 17, 2025

4 Arrested Following Disturbance

(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) – Four Individuals are facing charges after a disturbance at a residence in Sioux Lookout, Ontario. 

On February 24, 2025, the Sioux Lookout detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a disturbance at an apartment on Millar Crescent, in the Municipality of Sioux Lookout, Ontario.

The investigation has resulted in the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of suspected illicit substances including oxycodone and crack cocaine. Canadian currency and items associated with drug trafficking were also seized.

Iylah MOHAMMED, 18-years-old of Toronto, has been charged under the Criminal Code (CC) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Opioid – two counts
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Disobeying order of court – two counts

Samaria ROBERTS, 60-years-old of Sioux Lookout, has been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Opioid – two counts
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine

Seth TRIST, 23-years-old of Sioux Lookout, has been charged under the Criminal Code (CC) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Opioid – two counts
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Failure to comply with release order

A 17-year-old, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Opioid – two counts
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine

Iylah MOHAMMED and Samaria ROBERTS were held for bail and remanded to the Kenora District Jail. They are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Provincial Court at a later date.

Seth TRIST and the youth were released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Provincial Court at a later date.

$60,000 Drug Bust – Names Released

(ESPANOLA, ON) – Four people are facing charges as a result of an extensive investigation into drugs and weapons offences in Espanola.

The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information regarding possible drugs and weapons offences occurring at an address in Espanola. The OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) launched an investigation with assistance from the East Algoma CSCU, Nipissing West CSCU, North Bay CSCU, West Parry Sound CSCU.

On March 5, 2025, Manitoulin OPP officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle involved in the investigation. As a result, the four occupants of the vehicle were arrested. Police then attended an address in Espanola to execute a search warrant.

As a result, police seized amounts of suspected fentanyl with an estimated street value of $45,000, amounts of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $16,000, amounts of suspected methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $600, a prohibited handgun with an extended magazine, and a tactical vest with a handgun holster.

As a result, four people are facing charges:

Adam WHITE, 40-years-old from Espanola, was charged with:

  • Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with
  • Breach of firearms regulation – transport firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm

5 Arrested In Drug Bust – Names Released

(BANCROFT, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit has charged five people after a seizure of illegal drugs in Bancroft.

On Tuesday, March 4, 2025, Street Crime Unit officers, assisted by members of the OPP Tactics and Recue Unit, OPP Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit and officers from the Bancroft Detachment executed a search warrant at a residence on Stimears Lake Road.

Investigators seized morphine and hydromorphone pills and a quantity of an unidentified white powder. That powder has been sent for testing. Officers also seized over $4000 in cash, a crossbow and other items typically associated with drug trafficking.

Lisa CANNING, age 63 of Bancroft and Jovane WATSON, age 27 of Bowmanville, have been charged with:

  • Trafficking of a Schedule 1 substance – three counts
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

James MCGIBBON, age 53 of Bancroft, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
  • Traffick in a schedule 1 substance
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

Shari Lynn Chisholm, age 45 of Bancroft has been charged with four counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

Brian PECK, age 48 of Bancroft has been charged with five counts of failing to comply with a release order.

All five individuals were held in custody until bail hearings before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(MADOC TWP, ON) – The Central Hastings Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid drug trafficking charges after a traffic stop in Madoc Township.

On Monday, March 3, 2025, officers stopped a car on St. Lawrence Street East after observing damage on the vehicle and an obscured licence plate. The owner did not have insurance or registration paperwork in the vehicle.

Further investigation, and a search of the vehicle, resulted in the discovery of over 30-grams of cannabis, as well as suspected methamphetamine and suspected psilocybin. The officers also located crack pipes, a large knife, shotgun shells and items typically associated to drug trafficking.

Michael ANDREW, age 52 of no fixed address, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a schedule 3 substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of proceeds of crime under $5000
  • Driving with cannabis readily available
  • Possession of over 30-grams of dried cannabis in a public place
  • Operate a vehicle without insurance
  • Failing to surrender a permit for a vehicle
  • Failing to surrender a driver’s licence
  • Driving with a dirty licence plate
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

Patrick FRENCH, age 32 of Central Frontenac Township, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a schedule 3 substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order

Both accused were held in custody and are scheduled to appear for bail hearings before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville later today (March 4, 2025).

Cocaine Bust – 2 Arrested

(CENTRAL MANITOULIN TOWNSHIP, ON) – Two people have been arrested and are facing charges after police received a suspicious vehicle call.

On February 28, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call for a suspicious vehicle on Highway 551 in the Central Manitoulin Township. Shortly after, police located the vehicle on Highway 551 in M’Chigeeng First Nation. Further investigation, with assistance from the United Chiefs and Councils of Manitoulin Police Service Commission (UCCM), resulted in two people being arrested.

Additionally, police seized an imitation firearm, approximately 80 grams of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $8,000, approximately 0.5 grams of suspected crack cocaine with an estimated street value of $20, approximately 5 grams of suspected Fentanyl with an estimated street value of $1,500, and approximately $1,000 in Canadian currency.

As a result, the driver, Brittany CORBIERE, 32-years-old from Sudbury, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Possession of imitation weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

The passenger, Christopher ASHAWASAGAI, 35-years-old from Sudbury, was charged with:

Another Drug Bust

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – On February 28, 2025, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk/Haldimand Community Street Crime Unit executed a search warrant at a Talbot Street North, Simcoe, Norfolk County address.

During the search warrant, police seized a quantity of illicit drugs, weapons, and currency. Five people were taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following offences is 24-year-old Bailey Rayel KOOI of Norfolk County, Ontario:

·      Possession for the purpose of trafficking Fentanyl

·      Possession for the purpose of trafficking Cocaine,

·      Possession for the purpose of trafficking Clonazepam,

·      Possession of proceeds or property obtained by crime under $5,000,

·      Unauthorized possession of a weapon,

·      Possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose,

·      Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose (two counts).

Charged with the following offences is 35-year-old Kevin William COLLINS of Norfolk County, Ontario:

·      Possession for the purpose of trafficking Fentanyl

·      Possession for the purpose of trafficking Cocaine,

·      Possession for the purpose of trafficking Clonazepam,

·      Possession of proceeds or property obtained by crime under $5,000,

·      Unauthorized possession of a weapon,

·      Carry concealed weapon.

Charged with the following offences in 41-year-old Jean Pierre AUCLAIR of Fort Erie, Ontario:

Charged with the following offences is 42-year-old Kylie MCGUIRE of Fort Erie, Ontario:

Charged with possession of Fentanyl, is 26-year-old Colin Kenneth John MAXWELL of Norfolk County, Ontario.

All accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe at a later date.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(PEMBROKE, ON) – Two local residents are facing charges after an impaired driving investigation in Pembroke resulted in the seizure of suspected cocaine and the recovery of a stolen vehicle.   

On February 25, 2025, at approximately 11:15 a.m., members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a suspicious passenger vehicle with two occupants parked on Esther Street in Pembroke. Investigation found the vehicle had been previously reported stolen from a rental car agency. The driver was taken into custody and a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer conducted testing at the detachment. Officers seized suspected cocaine as well as items typically associated with drug trafficking.     

As a result of this investigation the driver, 30-year-old Caitlin DENNIS of Chalk River, has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) offences:

·        Operation while impaired – drugs

·        Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

·        Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days. They were released to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on March 10, 2025.  

Vehicle passenger Brandon ROUSSEAU, age 38 of Deep River, was charged with the following CC and CDSA offences:

·        Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000

·        Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

·        Fail to comply with probation

The accused was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody until their next appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice on March 6, 2025.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(DRYDEN, ON) – An investigation led by the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the Sioux Lookout OPP CSCU, Red Lake OPP CSCU, Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Emergency Response Team (ERT), and uniform members from the Dryden OPP Detachment have led to charges being laid against three individuals.  

On February 26, 2025, just after 10:00 am, a search warrant was executed on a residence on Arthur Street, in the City of Dryden. The investigation resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of suspected illicit drugs, including fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, and oxycodone as well as a prohibited firearm, over $10,000 in Canadian currency, and further evidence of drug trafficking.

As a result of the investigation, Sarah ABDEL-KARIM, 40-years-old, of Dryden, has been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and the Criminal Code with the following offences:

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine

·        Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – oxycodone      

·        Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000

·        Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm

·        Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm

Terrence KOROBANIK, 33-years-old, of Dryden, has also been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act and the Criminal Code with the following offences:

Drug Bust – 2 Arrested

(ESPANOLA, ON) – Two people are facing charges following a traffic stop that resulted in police locating suspected drugs.

On February 26, 2025, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Albert Street in Espanola. Police determined that the vehicle passenger was wanted on an outstanding warrant. Further investigation on scene resulted in both the driver and passenger being arrested.

Additionally, police located approximately 43 grams of suspected fentanyl, with an estimated street value of $13,000, approximately 0.5 grams of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $50, and approximately $6,800 in Canadian Currency.

As a result, the driver, Kimberly KITCHIKAKE, 38-years-old from Espanola, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – opioid
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on April 7, 2025.

The passenger, Dallas YURKO, 46-years-old from Espanola, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – opioid
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

The second accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Sudbury on February 27, 2025.

3 Arrested On Hwy 11 – Names Released

(SMOOTH ROCK FALLS, ON) – A traffic stop on Highway 11 led to the seizure of cocaine, cash, a prohibited weapon, and the arrest of three individuals.

On February 19, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle on Highway 11 in Smooth Rock Falls. During the stop, officers observed three occupants and a bag of suspected cocaine in plain view.

All three individuals were arrested for possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. A subsequent search resulted in the seizure of a prohibited switchblade, approximately $10,000 in Canadian currency, and cocaine with an estimated street value of $4,000.

Further investigation revealed that one of the passengers – who was criminally prohibited from driving – had been behind the wheel shortly before the stop. Additionally, the driver at the time of the traffic stop displayed signs of intoxication and was transported to the Kapuskasing OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, the following individuals have been charged:

Marcel LAFONTAINE, 49 years of age of Cache Bay:

·        Operation while prohibited under the criminal code

·        Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

·        Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000

·        Fail to comply with probation order

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on March 31, 2025, in Kapuskasing.

Marie POULIN, 29 years of age of Timmins:

·        Operation while impaired – drugs

·        Operation while impaired – blood drug concentration

·        Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on March 31, 2025, in Kapuskasing. In addition, the accused received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

Rozlyn WESLEY, 41 years of age of Constance Lake:

·        Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

·        Possession of a prohibited device – switchblade

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on March 31, 2025, in Kapuskasing.

Weapon & Drug Bust

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – Officers from the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have seized drugs, firearms, and related items following search warrants executed at residences in Bradford and Shelburne.

In the fall of 2024, the Dufferin Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), in collaboration with the Caledon (CSCU), Nottawasaga (CSCU), Central Region K9, Dufferin OPP frontline members and South Simcoe Police Service, launched a multi-jurisdictional drug investigation. As part of the operation, search warrants were executed between February 19 and February 25, 2025, at homes in Bradford and Shelburne. Five individuals were arrested and face multiple charges. Additionally, officers seized various drug-related items, including firearms.

Sharlene BYFIELD, a 35-year-old female from Bradford, has been charged with:

  • Poss of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000 – in Canada
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Poss of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

Drug Bust – Names Released

(CENTRAL MANITOULIN TOWNSHIP, ON) – Three people are facing charges after police located suspected crack cocaine during a traffic stop.

On February 20, 2025, at approximately 3:45 a.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 551 in the Township of Central Manitoulin. There were three occupants in the vehicle, and police determined that the driver had consumed an intoxicating substance. Further investigation resulted in the three occupants being arrested.

Additionally, police seized approximately two grams of suspected crack cocaine, with an estimated street value of $300, and approximately $5,000 in Canadian currency.

As a result, the driver, Madison GILLINGHAM, 21-years-old from Scarborough, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood drug concentration
  • Traffick in Schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Novice driver – presence of drug

The passenger, Brandon AKOURIS, 24-years-old from Toronto, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The second passenger, Celeste MIGWANS, 45-years-old from M’Chigeeng First Nation, was charged with:

  • Traffick in Schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The three accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on April 1, 2025.

Drug Bust Following Collision: MOORE & PATROIS-HAYBECKER

(RENFREW, ON) – Two people have been arrested and a significant quantity of illegal drugs seized after a single vehicle collision in Renfrew.

At approximately 4:15 a.m. today (Monday, February 24, 2025), officers with the Renfrew Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle on Lochiel Street, but the vehicle fled. It was found a short distance away after it left the road and crashed along Ma-Te-Way Park Drive. The driver fled on foot, while a passenger remained in the car. A search of the vehicle located suspected fentanyl, suspected cocaine and suspected methamphetamine. Officers also seized items typically associated with drug trafficking. The passenger was arrested at the scene and the driver was located and arrested nearby, with assistance from the OPP Canine Unit.

Tyler MOORE, age 43 of Arnprior has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance – two counts
  • Dangerous operation of a vehicle
  • Flight from a peace officer
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Failing to remain at the scene of an accident
  • Operation of a vehicle without insurance
  • Using a plate not authorized for a vehicle
  • Driving a vehicle while failing to display two licence plates

Ashley PATROIS-HAYBECKER, age 19 or Arnprior, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance – two counts
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

Both of the accused were held in custody and scheduled to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on February 24, 2025.
