49 Year Old Arrested For Breaking Windows

(WEST PERTH, ON) – One person was charged after they damaged a number of windows at an apartment building in Mitchell in December.

The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded on December 16 2021, just before 8:30 p.m. to the address on St. David Street after a person began breaking windows of the apartment with an object.

No serious injuries were reported from the incident.

As a result, Darren BORTH, 49, of West Perth, has been charged with:

–       Mischief Over $5,000

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Wroxeter Resident Arrested For Drunk Driving

(HURON EAST, ON) – A resident of Wroxeter has been charged with Impaired Operation following a traffic stop conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on Christmas Day.

At approximately 10:00 p.m. on December 25, 2021 Huron County OPP officers observed a hatchback being operated on Brussels Line in an erratic manner. Officers conducted a traffic stop and while speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had consumed some alcohol and was displaying signs of impairment. 

As a result the driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two samples of breath were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both samples were found to be above the legal limit. 

Rachelle DOBSON-PLANTT, 33 years of age from Wroxeter has been charged with Operation While Impaired and Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 14, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Goderich Resident Facing Drunk Driving Charge

(GODERICH, ON) – A resident of Goderich has a court date coming up in February following a traffic stop and a failed roadside test in Goderich last month.

On December 23, 2021 at approximately 7:53 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint in Goderich on Cambria Road when they observed some driving that caught their attention.

The driver of a sport utility vehicle approached the RIDE checkpoint, however the driver stopped in the middle of the road, then reversed and then parked on the side of the road prior to getting to the checkpoint.  As a result the officers went over to vehicle and checked on the driver.

Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver had consumed some alcohol. As a result a roadside screening test was conducted and the driver registered a fail. Upon doing so the driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for further testing. The driver provided two samples of her breath to the Intoxilizer Technician and both samples were found to be above the legal limit. 

Kathleen TAYLOR, 55 years of age from Goderich has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus.  She has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 7, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Snowmobile & Trailers Stolen

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – Since November, a number of items have been stolen from properties in Perth County, including trailers and a snowmobile taken during a break and enter.

The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating three stolen property incidents, dating back to November 2021. On November 18 2021, police were contacted about a break and enter to a shop at a residential property on Perth Line 44, in the Municipality of West Perth. The investigation revealed that a red 2002 Yamaha SXV Viper snowmobile had been stolen from the shop. The snowmobile is valued at approximately $6000 and is still outstanding.

On December 6 2021, Perth County OPP received another report of a stolen item, this time a trailer from a business on Rocher Road, in Listowel. The white 2021 Weber Lane 6×12 trailer was taken when the suspect hooked it up to a Ford F150 pick-up truck and drove away. The trailer is valued over $8000 and is still outstanding.

On December 27 2021, Perth County OPP received another report of a theft of a trailer, which occurred on December 25, at a property on Perth Road 121, in the Township of Perth East. The suspect entered the property in a Ford F150 pick-up truck, and stole an aluminum 2016 Weber Lane 10×6 trailer. The trailer is valued at approximately $4000 and is still outstanding.

MOLSON Arrested For Drunk Driving

(GREENOCK TWP, ON) – On January 3, 2022 at 4:51 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a suspected impaired driver in Greenock Township. Officers located the vehicle and found that the driver had been drinking alcohol.

Following a roadside screening test, the driver was placed under arrest and taken to the South Bruce OPP Detachment for testing with a Qualified Intoxilizer Technician. 

Robert MOLSON, 53-years-old, of Brockton was charged with Operate over 80 milligrams. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on February 16, 2022 to answer to the charge.

This charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.

19 Year Old Arrested Following Foot Chase

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) On December 30, 2021 at approximately 11:45 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an individual entering vehicles on John Street, in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.   

Officers arrived in the area, and an observant member of the public provided an updated location. The suspect was located at a business on Berford Street, where they then tried to flee from police but were arrested a short time after.

Grey Bruce OPP have arrested and charged Matthew NICKELS, 19 years-of-age, from South Bruce Peninsula with the following offences:

·        Assault with intent to resist arrest

·        Obstruct a peace officer

·        Possession of break in instruments

·        Possession of a schedule 1 substance

·        Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

·        Trespassing at night

·        3 counts of Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on December 31, 2021.

Buggy Vs Pickup Truck Collision

(GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On December 16, 2021 at approximately 3:40 p.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the Dundalk Fire Department and Grey County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a report of a collision between a pickup truck and a buggy on Grey Road 2 in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

On December 29, 2021, the Grey Bruce OPP arrested and charged Adam NICKLE, 41 years-of-age, from the Township of Southgate with 3 counts of dangerous operation causing bodily harm. NICKLE was released from custody, and is scheduled to appear on March 17, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.

4 Dead – Dozens More On Horizon

(HURON COUNTY, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) wish to remind the public of the potentially lethal consequences of opioid use following four suspected opioid drug overdose deaths this month, with the latest occurring on Christmas Eve.

Two males, a 32-year-old and a 43-year-old, along with two females, a 42-year-old and a 43-year-old have all died this month as a result of accidental opioid overdose deaths. 

Between January 1, 2021 and December 25, 2021 members of the Huron County OPP Detachment have responded to 32 drug overdose incidents, including 8 fatalities with the majority of those deaths due to opioids.

“These overdoses certainly highlight the fact that the misuse and abuse of controlled substances is highly dangerous and can be deadly. With that being said, we also know that overdose deaths can be preventable if medical attention is received quickly so I would like to remind witnesses to call 9-1-1 and stay with the victim. Don’t be afraid, just pick up the phone and call, it could save your friend’s life”

Stolen Vehicle Recovered – REINHART Arrested

(WALKERTON, ON) – On December 22, 2021 at 4:27 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a theft report from an address along Third Street in Walkerton. A Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) had just been taken from the driveway.

A South Bruce OPP officer on patrol saw the vehicle in the town of Walkerton. The cruiser emergency lighting was activated, but the driver didn’t stop.

A short time later, the vehicle was observed along Bruce County Road 19 in Brant Township. The cruiser emergency lighting was activated and the vehicle stopped. The driver was taken into custody without incident. 

Francis REINHART, 30-years-old, of no fixed address was charged with:

  • Theft of Motor Vehicle
  • Flight from Peace Officer
  • Drive while Prohibited
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

The accused was held in custody pending the results of a bail hearing scheduled for December 22, 2021.

The stolen vehicle has been returned to its rightful owner.

Fatal Fire Update – Deceased Identified

(MEAFORD, ON) – On November 27, 2021, at approximately 10:50 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Grey County Emergency Medical Services (EMS), the Inter Township Fire Department and the Chatsworth Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire on the 10th concession in the Municipality of Meaford.

One individual was removed from the residence and pronounced deceased on scene. They have been identified as Eldon LYNK, 81-years-old, from the Municipality of Meaford.

The investigation is continuing with the assistance of the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario (OCCO) and the Ontario Fire Marshal

Teen Sexually Assaulted By Supervisor

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On November 22, 2021, Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a sexual assault that occurred at a workplace in Fergus. It was reported that a female youth was the victim of a sexual assault by her supervisor while working at a business on Tower Street South.

As a result of the investigation, Navpreet Singh NAHAR, 30-years-old of Milton, was charged with Sexual Assault on a Person under 16 and Sexual Interference contrary to the Criminal Code. He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph.

$5000 In Wire Stolen

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is looking for suspects after a break in and theft from a business in the Municipality of North Perth.

On December 13 2021, police received a report of a break and enter that had occurred on December 12 at approximately 3:45 a.m. at a business on Rocher Road, in Listowel. The suspects had cut padlocks off storage areas, and stolen wire and cables, with an estimated value of $5000.

The two suspects left the scene in a light coloured pick-up truck.

One suspect is wearing a green hooded sweater and dark pants, and the other is wearing a grey hooded coat, blue jeans, and light brown work boots.

Impaired FIRBY Crashes Into Parked Car

(PERTH EAST, ON) – A driver has been arrested and charged for being impaired after a collision in the Township of Perth East last week.

On December 16 2021, just after 7:30 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a collision that had just occurred, after a mini-van struck a parked, unoccupied car on Huron Road.

When police arrived on scene, the driver was found to be impaired by drug. They were arrested and transported to an OPP operations centre for further testing. Two other occupants of the van, an adult and child, were not injured in the collision.

Michael FIRBY, 34, of Central Huron, has been charged with:

–       Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs

–       Operation while Prohibited

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 45-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

$12,000 Snowmobile Trailer Stolen

(PERTH EAST, ON) – A snowmobile trailer valued at approximately $12,000 was stolen from an address in the Township of Perth East last week.

On December 16 2021, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a theft that had occurred from a property on Perth Road 135. A black, 2018 Triton snowmobile trailer had been stolen. The trailer had a tongue lock and tailgate lock at the time it was stolen.

The Perth County OPP requests that any suspicious activity be reported immediately, and consider installing security features, such as increased lighting, cameras, or alarms.

Joel TURNER Arrested Again

(WEST PERTH, ON) – After multiple outdoor decorations were damaged, police have charged one person with Mischief.

On the morning of December 07 2021, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of damaged holiday decorations and security cameras at a residence on Schade Street, in Monkton. The suspect had caused extensive damage to the property, and during the investigation, it was determined that the suspect had damaged property at two other residences, and had been trespassing at night.

As a result of the police investigation, one suspect was identified and arrested.

Joel TURNER, 33, of no fixed address, has been charged with:

–       Mischief Over $5000

–       Mischief Under $5000 (two counts)

–       Trespassing at Night

–       Fail to Comply with Probation Order (two counts)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.
