70 Year Old Charged In Death Of Motorcyclist

(ELGIN COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Elgin County detachment has charged Joseph Grzegorczyk, 70-years-old of St. Thomas, with Careless Driving causing death in following the investigation of a fatal motor vehicle collision occurring on July 28th, 2022.

On July 28, 2022, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the Elgin County OPP responded to a collision at the intersection of Elm Street and Coulter Avenue in St. Thomas. An involved motorcyclist, Nicholas CHEESEMAN, 34-years-old of Port Stanley was pronounced deceased as a result of the collision.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Provincial Offences Courthouse in St. Thomas at a later date.

Another Fatal Motorcycle Collision

(CHATSWORTH, ON) – The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police are on scene of a fatal collision involving a motorcycle and a motor vehicle on Highway 6.

On October 11, 2022, just after 7:15 p.m., The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police, Grey County Paramedic Services (PS) and the Chatsworth Fire Department responded to a report of a collision involving a motorcycle and a motor vehicle on Highway 6 in the Township of Chatsworth.

Life saving efforts were performed, but the driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased on scene. Their identity is being withheld pending a next of kin notification.

The Grey Bruce OPP is continuing to investigate this collision with the assistance of the West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team (TIME). Highway 6 will remain closed between Grey Road 40 and Walker Sideroad while emergency crews process the scene.

Shots Fired From Vehicle – 5 Arrested

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – On October 9, 2022, at 10:13 p.m., multiple members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were dispatched to Birchcrest Drive in Kilworth, Middlesex Centre, where an individual reported being shot at by individuals within a passing vehicle.

The suspect vehicle was located at a business plaza on Oxford Street West in the City of London, where officers performed a high-risk takedown.

Five individuals were brought into custody without incident.

The firearm was confirmed to be an Airsoft, assault style rifle.

It was later determined the London Police Service were investigating a similar incident in their area, involving the same vehicle.

One victim received minor injuries.

As a result, Bennett THOMPSON, an 18-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with:

·      Discharge Air Gun or Pistol with Intent (two counts)

·      Assault with A Weapon (two counts)

·      Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose (two counts)

·      Poss of a Schedule II substance – Other drugs

As a result, William SEWARD, an 18-year-old, David UFIMZEFF, a 19-year-old, Andrew KIM, an 18-year-old and Clark VANEINDHOVEN, a 19-year-old, all of London have been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:

·      Discharge Air Gun or Pistol with Intent (two counts)

·      Assault with A Weapon (two counts)

·      Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose (two counts)

The accused have been released from police custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges at a later date.

Collision Near Exeter – 2 Deceased

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to investigate a double-fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred yesterday afternoon east of Exeter. 

At approximately 3:25 p.m. on October 10, 2022 Huron County OPP, Huron County Paramedic Services and the South Huron Fire Department responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision located at the intersection of Thames Road (Huron County #83) and Hern Line (Huron County #11).

Upon arrival first responders located a heavily damaged minivan and a motorhome. 

The preliminary investigation indicates the motorhome was travelling eastbound on Thames Road when it collided with a minivan that was travelling northbound on Hern Line. 

Both occupants in the minivan died at the scene. 

The have been identified as the driver, Chin LOO, 66 years of age, from London and passenger, Lay TAN, 58 years of age, also from London. 

Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team attended the scene to assist with the collision investigation.

James LAYTON – Drunk Driving

(PERTH EAST, ON) – On October 5, 2022, at approximately 9:36 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint on Line 39 in the Township of Perth East.  

Upon speaking with a driver who entered the checkpoint, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage, at which time a roadside screening device was administered. The driver was arrested for impaired operation and transported to a local operations center for further testing.

James LAYTON, a 38-year-old resident of Perth East has been charged with the following:

–      Operation while impaired – blood concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

(PERTH EAST, ON) – On October 4, 2022, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an occurrence that took place at a Line 42 address in the Township of Perth East.

As a result, Liam DINEEN, a 19-year-old resident of Stratford, has been charged with:

–      Assault

–      Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm

61 Year Old Facing Assault & Threat Charges

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person after a disturbance.

On October 4, 2022, just after 2:30 p.m., police responded to a disturbance at an address on Barber Avenue North in the Municipality of West Perth.

During the investigation, it was determined that the accused pushed the victim to the ground.  

A 61-year-old of North Perth was arrested and charged with:

–      Assault

–      Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Home Invasion – Dennis SCHLUETER Arrested

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On October 4, 2022, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police investigated a break and enter at a Mill Street West address in the Municipality of North Perth.  

Through investigation, the accused entered an apartment through a window to retrieve an item without permission.

As a result, Dennis SCHLUETER, 38, a resident of Perth East was arrested and charged with:

–      Break, Enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence

Connie DYNES – Drunk Driving

(PERTH EAST, ON) – On October 3, 2022, at approximately 10:41 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint on Main Street North in the Township of Perth East.

Habitual Spousal Abuser Arrested

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a North Perth resident after a domestic disturbance occurrence.

On September 25, 2022, at approximately 4:16 p.m., Perth County OPP started a domestic investigation. Through the investigation, it was determined that the victim was assaulted on two separate occasions.  

A 31-year-old resident of North Perth was arrested and charged with:

–      Assault – spousal

–      Assault with a Weapon – Spousal

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Thief Arrested In Mitchell – BALLANTYNE-HOLMES

(WEST PERTH, ON) – On September 24, 2022, just after 1:30 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a reported theft of a UPS package from a common area in an apartment building located on Wellington Street in Mitchell.  

It was reported that on September 22, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. a female took a UPS package that did not belong to her.

As a result, Kassidy BALLANTYNE-HOLMES, 33, a resident of West Perth was arrested and charged with:

–      Theft Under $5,000

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

John DaSILVA – Drunk Driving, Drive While Prohibited, etc.

(HURON EAST, ON) – A Huron East resident is facing several charges following a recent traffic stop that took place in Ethel.

Shortly after 2:00 p.m. on September 25, 2022 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a tip about a driver that was operating a vehicle without licence plates. Officers began patrolling for the pickup truck and at approximately 4:00 p.m. a Huron OPP officer located the suspect vehicle parked on Brandon Road in Ethel.

The investigating officer was able to locate and speak with the driver and upon doing so the investigating officer observed the driver to be displaying signs of impairment. A Standard Field Sobriety Test (SFST) was conducted and the driver performed poorly. The driver was placed under arrest and was subsequently transported to the Listowel OPP Detachment for further testing.

The driver provided two samples of breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both samples were found to be above the legal limit. 

John DaSILVA, 64 years of age, from Huron East has been charged with: Operation While Impaired, Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus), and Operation While Prohibited. In addition to the criminal charges the accused was also charged with several Provincial Act offences.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 31, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Ian McMILLAN – Drunk Driving

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – A Kincardine resident is facing Impaired Operation charges following a traffic investigation in Port Albert.

On Tuesday, September 21, 2022 at approximately 3:50 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to Drury Line and North Street in Port Albert to check on a driver that appeared to be passed out in his pickup truck.

Upon arrival the investigating officer located the driver standing beside his vehicle. Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer noticed the driver had been drinking alcohol and was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was placed under arrest and was transported the Huron OPP Detachment for further testing. 

The driver provided two samples of breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both samples were found to be above the legal limit. 

Ian McMILLAN, 41 years of age from Kincardine has been charged with Operation While Impaired and Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).  

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 7, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Another Meth Bust In Wingham

(NORTH HURON, ON) –On Sunday, October 2, 2022 at approximately 7:43 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer initiated a traffic stop of a car on Victoria Street in Wingham. 

A driver’s licence query was conducted on the driver and it revealed the driver held a suspended driver’s licence. Upon learning this information the investigating officer arrested the driver and searched the vehicle. 

Upon searching the vehicle officers located drug paraphernalia, trafficking materials, suspected anabolic steroids and currency. A further search revealed the passenger to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine. 

The driver, Dana WHEELER, 41 years of age from Durham and the passenger Joseph BEVAN, 36 years of age from Mildmay were both charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking – Methamphetamine & Possession of a Schedule IV Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking. 

Both have since been released from custody with court dates scheduled for November 21, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Hwy 21 Collision – 2 Airlifted To Hospital

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On October 5, 2022, at 2:51 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 21 and Kincardine Avenue in the Municipality of Kincardine. Officers responded with Kincardine Fire and Emergency Services and Bruce County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to find a pick-up truck and motorcycle involved in the crash.

The motorcycle driver was airlifted to a London hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

The motorcycle passenger was airlifted to a London hospital with life threatening injuries.

The pick-up driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Highway 21 and Kincardine Avenue were closed at the incident location for the protection of emergency responders. The roads have since re-opened to traffic.

Members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) unit are assisting the South Bruce OPP with this investigation.

The investigation is in the early stages, updates will be provided as they become available.
