73 Year Old From Brussels Arrested – Officer Assaulted

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On December 11, 2022, at approximately 12:15 a.m., officers from the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Road 164 in the Municipality of North Perth.

When the officers arrived on scene, they observed the truck in a ditch. Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed alcohol and was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local hospital as a precaution.

Gregory NICHOLLS, 73-year-old of Brussels, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

–      Assault a Peace Officer While Carrying a Weapon

–      Resist Peace Officer

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

Blyth Resident Charged – One Sent To Hospital

(WEST PERTH, ON) – On December 6, 2022, just before 5:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Perth County Paramedic Services responded to a collision on Road 164 in the Municipality of West Perth. One person was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

A 30-year-old resident of Blyth, has been charged with:

–      Careless Driving

The accused was issued a Provincial Notice for the offence.

MOLE Allegedly Assaults Police

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – An individual has been charged with two criminal offences following a disturbance.

On December 6, 2022, the Grey Bruce OPP responded to a report of a disturbance in the Sauble Beach area in  the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.

Officers arrived on scene and an individual was placed under arrest.

As a result, Ashton MOLE, 28 years-of-age is charged with the following offences:

·      Assault with the intent to resist arrest

·      Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound at a later date.

CAMPBELL Arrested For Drunk Driving

(BLUEWATER, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Bluewater resident with Impaired Operation, and Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) following a complaint received by police on December 7th in Bayfield. 

At approximately 4:30 p.m. Huron County OPP received information from a concerned citizen who observed a vehicle being driven by a female they believed had been drinking alcohol. Officers patrolled the area of the complaint and located the suspect vehicle and driver a short time later. The driver displayed signs of impairment and was placed under arrest and taken into custody. 

The accused was then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two samples of breath were supplied to the Intoxilyzer Technician and both tests were found to be 3 times over the legal limit. 

Jennifer CAMPBELL, 66 years of age from Bluewater has been charged with Operation While Impaired, and Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

The accused’ driver’s license was immediately suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 9th, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

3 Barns & Livestock Lost In Fire

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with firefighters from Goderich, Clinton, Brucefield, Bayfield and Blyth Fire Departments responded early this morning to a barn fire that has resulted in significant losses to a farm operation.

At approximately 1:00 a.m. Huron County OPP officers arrived on scene of the barn fire located on Cut Line in Central Huron. The fire has resulted in significant losses with initial estimates being between $1 – 3,000,000 dollars. 

Unfortunately, 14 cattle and 9 chickens perished in the fire and 3 barns were destroyed, along with a quantity of straw, feed, and equipment.

Cut Line was closed for a period of time for access to the property and safety of emergency responders.

The cause of the fire is not believed to be suspicious in nature.

BOLO Stolen ATV From Wingham

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating the theft of a red 2020 Can Am Outlander All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) from a residence located on Mary Street in Lower-Town Wingham.

On November 05, 2022, Huron OPP officers received a report that the machine was stolen sometime overnight on Dec 04/05. The suspect(s) cut a padlock to access the detached shed and keys were not with the ATV.

The stolen ATV vehicle identification number (VIN) is #3JBLGAT23LJ000527 and it has a snorkel kit and light bar on the front that make it unique.

Bryan DEVEREAUX – Assault With Weapon, Theft

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person has been charged with assault with a weapon and theft under $5000 in the Municipality of North Perth.

On December 2, 2022, just after 10:00 p.m., The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a business on Mitchell Road South, after a person was witnessed shoplifting by an employee. When the employee tried to stop the suspect from fleeing, the employee was assaulted.

Bryan DEVEREAUX, 46, of Kitchener, has been charged with:

–      Assault with a weapon

–      Theft Under $5000 – Shoplifting

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

(WEST PERTH, ON) – One person is facing drug charges after an officer with the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated a traffic stop in the Municipality of West Perth.

On December 2, 2022, at approximately 9:45 a.m., an officer stopped a vehicle for speeding.

A quantity of suspected cocaine and methamphetamine was seized.

Police have charged Amanda STERE, 24, of Durham, has been charged with:

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

Two Arrested For Theft – BABEANU & BABEANU

(NORTH PERTH, ON) -Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested two people after being caught shoplifting.

On December 2, 2022, officers responded to a Mitchell Road South, North Perth address for a report of two suspects who stole items totaling just under $3000. Some items were dumped by suspects while fleeing and other items were recovered once the two suspects were taken into custody.

As a result, Constantin-Laurentiu BABEANU, 18, and Ioana-Fluturica BABEANU, 28, both from Scarborough were charged with:

–      Theft Under $5000- SHOPLIFTING

–      Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000- in Canada

Both accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Kyle SMITH Facing Numerous Firearms Charges

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – On December 2, 2022, at 12:31 p.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol, observed a suspicious vehicle travelling on Coldstream Road in Middlesex Centre.

A traffic stop was initiated.

As a result of the investigation a loaded firearm was located within the vehicle. The lone occupant was taken into custody without incident.

Kyle SMITH, a 26-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada, the Cannabis Control Act, the Highway Traffic Act, the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act and the Liquor Licence and Control Act with:

  • Carrying concealed weapon
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited device or ammunition (two counts)
  • Possession of Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
  • Drive motor vehicle, fail to display two plates
  • Driver fail to surrender licence
  • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
  • Fail to surrender insurance card
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused was held for a bail hearing.

20 Year Old Arrested For Drunk Driving

(PERTH EAST, ON) – On December 1, 2022, just before 7:00 a.m., officers from the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Road 119 in the Township of Perth East.

Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed alcohol and was displaying signs of impairment. A roadside screening device was administered, the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to a local operations center for further testing.

Brodi MORGAN, 20-year-old of West Perth, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

–      Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Child Sexually Assaulted – 34 Year Old Arrested

 (WEST PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges in relation to a sexual assault on a youth that occurred in the Municipality of West Perth.

On December 1, 2022, Perth County OPP responded to a report of a sexual assault.

Investigation revealed that the victim was sexually assault on several occasions between September and November. The accused and victim were known to each other.

As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old resident of West Perth was charged with:

–      Sexual Interference (3 counts)

–      Sexual Assault on a Person Under 16 years of age (3 counts)

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Suspended Driver Caught With Drugs – MCKAY

(GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – An individual has been charged with multiple offences following a traffic complaint.

On December 3, 2022, at 3:54 p.m., The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 10 in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

The motor vehicle was located, and the responding officer conducted a traffic stop. The officer determined that the driver was displaying signs of impairment and placed the driver under arrest. They were transported to an OPP detachment for further testing.

The Grey Bruce OPP have charged Ryan MCKAY, 41 years-of-age, from Wellington North with the following offences:

·        Operation while impaired

·        Driving while under suspension

·        Obstruct plate

·        Use plate not authorized for vehicle

·        Possession of a schedule I substance (two counts)

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound at a later date.

Another Break & Enter

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On November 30, 2022, just after 7:30 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a break, enter, and theft at a local residence on Line 87 in the Municipality of North Perth.

Sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. on November 30, 2022, unknown person(s) entered a workshop and stole a 2023 Black Chevrolet Silverado which was later recovered at an address on David Street in Wingham. Several power tools including Stihl-brand chainsaws and Dewalt brand impact drivers and drills were also taken and are still outstanding.

The public is asked to report suspicious activity immediately, and remember to lock doors to vehicles, houses, garages, and sheds. Do not leave keys with vehicles, including ATVs. Consider installing security features, such as increased lighting, cameras, or alarms.

Jeffrey LEFORTE Arrested For Mischief

(WEST PERTH, ON) – On November 16, 2022, at approximately 1:11 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated an act of mischief to a business located on St. George Street in the Municipality of West Perth.  

It was determined that someone damaged a window. The damages are estimated just over $1800.

As a result of the investigation, Jeffrey LEFORTE, 52, of West Perth has been arrested and charged with the following:

–      Mischief under $5,000
