Travis MACDONALD Arrested

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a South Huron resident with Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) following a failed roadside test on February 17th at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Dashwood Road west of Exeter. 

Huron County OPP officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on Dashwood Road in South Huron when a vehicle entered the RIDE check. Police spoke with the driver which led to the investigating officer conducting a roadside screening device test on the driver. The roadside breath test resulted in a failure and the driver was placed under arrest and taken into custody. 

The accused was then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for further breath tests. Two samples of breath were supplied to the Intoxilyzer Technician and both tests were found to be over the legal limit. 

Travis MACDONALD, 33 years of age from South Huron has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 20th, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

36 Year Old Driver With Leg Out Window Arrested

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh resident with Impaired Operation after concerned citizens witnessed unusual driving behaviour on February 20th

Huron OPP officers responded to complaints from witnesses in Goderich who had observed a driver operating a motor vehicle with their left leg out of the driver’s window in the Town of Goderich at approximately 9:30 a.m. Officers patrolled the area and located the involved vehicle and driver in a parking lot. In speaking with the driver, officers had reason to believe that they were impaired by drug and were subsequently arrested. A suspected cannabis device was found on the driver during a search.

The accused was then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for further tests conducted by an OPP Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).  

Kyle HUTT, 36 years-of-age from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township has been charged with the following offence:

–      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days and the accused’ driver’s licence was seized for 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 27th, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Wellington OPP Weekly Report

(COUNTY OF WELLINGTON, ON) – Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to consolidate and streamline our notable traffic offences and publish a single weekly release.

On February 9, 2023, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Wellington County OPP responded to a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 6 at Marden Road, Guelph/Eramosa. It was reported that four vehicles had been involved and that one person suffered injuries. One person was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. As a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old driver from Guelph, has been charged with Careless Driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

On February 9, 2023, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Wellington County OPP responded to a reported two vehicle collision on Smith Street, Arthur. As a result of the investigation, a 59-year-old driver form Wellington North, was charged with Driving while Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph, on May 17, 2023.

On February 9, 2023, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Wellington County OPP responded a reported multi-vehicle collision on Highway 6 South, Puslinch. It was reported that three vehicles were involved, and one person suffered minor injuries. As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old driver from Burlington was charged with Careless Driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph, on April 5, 2023.

On February 10, 2023, at approximately 3:45 a.m., Wellington County OPP responded to a reported multi-vehicle collision on Brock Road South, Puslinch. It was reported that two vehicles were involved, and one person had suffered injuries. As a result of the investigation, a 46-year-old driver from Guelph, was charged with Careless Driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

On February 12, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 7, Pilkington. At approximately 10:15 a.m., a black sedan was observed travelling well above the posted 60km/hr speed limit. As a result of the investigation, an 18-year-old driver of Guelph, has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive Speed, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph, on May 17, 2023.

On February 12, 2023, at approximately 11:30 p.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP stopped the driver of a blue sedan on Tower Street South, Fergus. As a result of the investigation, a 44-yea-old driver from Conn, was charged with Operate Motor Vehicle without Insurance, contrary to the Compulsorily Automobile Insurance Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph, on May 17, 2023.

On February 13, 2023, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a driver of a vehicle that was acting erratically on McLean Road, Puslinch. As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old from Brampton has been charged with Driving while under Suspension, Drive Commercial Vehicle without Required Inspection, Fail to Accurately Complete Daily Inspection Report and Fail to Surrender Completed Daily Inspection Report. The defendant is scheduled to appear before the provincial offences court on May 17, 2023. A business out of Port Elgin was also issued provincial offence notices for Fail to Ensure Daily Inspection is Conducted Properly and Permit Unlicensed Person to Drive commercial Motor Vehicle.     

On February 14, 2023, at approximately 8:15 p.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP stopped the driver of a white sedan on the Hanlon Expressway Guelph. As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old driver from Guelph, was charged with Driving while Under Suspension and Drive Motor Vehicle, No Permit, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. Further, the driver was also charged with Operate Motor Vehicle without Insurance contrary to the Compulsorily Automobile Insurance Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph, on May 17, 2023.

On February 15, 2023, at approximately 3:30 p.m., an officer with the Wellington County OPP observed a black pickup truck traveling at approximately 129 km/hr in a posted 60 km/hr zone along Speedvale Ave. West. As a result of the investigation, a 61-year-old of Kitchener has been charged with Stunt Driving and is scheduled to appear in the provincial offences court on May 17, 2023. 

Anyone charged with Operation while Impaired- 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) or Failing to Comply with Demand receives a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment as per statute.

Anyone charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt receives a 14-day impoundment and a 30-day driver’s licence suspension as per statute.

Thomas GROSHAW Arrested For Drunk Driving

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On February 11, 2023, at approximately 12:19 a.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on general patrol was travelling on Wellington Avenue South, in the Municipality of North Perth, when they conducted a traffic stop.

During the investigation, the driver admitted to alcohol consumption. A roadside screening device was administered, the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to a local operations center for further testing.

Thomas GROSHAW, 53, of North Perth has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Michael COWAN Arrested & Facing Impaired Charge Following Collision

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH TWP, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Huron – Kinloss Township resident with Impaired driving offences following a collision on February 12th at approximately 1:45 p.m. 

Huron County OPP were called to the scene of a two-vehicle collision on February 12th, 2023, just before 2:00 p.m. on Bruce Road 86, just East of Lucknow. Upon arrival, emergency services discovered that a vehicle had been impacted from behind while slowing for another vehicle making a turn.

Police spoke to the suspected at-fault driver and determined that they had been consuming alcohol prior to driving. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and taken into custody. The driver provided breath samples to police which resulted in readings over the legal limit.

Michael COWAN, 61 years of age from Huron – Kinloss Twp has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80

The accused was additionally charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 27th, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Impaired Driver Runs Stop Sign – Dustin BOWLBY

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired related offences.

On February 13, 2023, at 12:16 A.M., A Grey Bruce OPP officer conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle in relation to a Highway Traffic Act offence.

While speaking with the driver, the officer detected signs of impairment and the driver was placed under arrest. The driver was then transported to a local OPP detachment for further testing.

The Grey Bruce OPP have charged Dustin BOWLBY, 21 years-of-age, from South Bruce Peninsula with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Disobey stop sign – fail to stop

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound at a later date.

Kaitlyn FEAR Arrested For Theft & Methamphetamine

(NORTH PERTH, ON) -Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested one person after the accused was observed stealing a package from a residence.

On February 10, 2023, officers responded to a Havelock Avenue south, North Perth address for a report of a suspect who stole a package from a residence.

As a result, Kaitlyn FEAR, 23, from North Perth has been charged with:

–      Theft Under $5000

–      Possession Break In Instruments

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

The accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Snowmobiler Arrested For Impaired Operation

(BLUEWATER, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Strathroy-Caradoc Township resident with Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) following a failed breath test on February 4th on an O.F.S.C. snowmobile trail. 

Huron County OPP officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. check for snowmobile operators on Bell’s Line and MacDonald Road in the Municipality of Bluewater. Several snowmobiles entered the R.I.D.E. check at approximately 7:00 p.m. In speaking with one of the operators, officers believed that the operator had consumed alcohol prior to driving, which led to a roadside screening device test on the individual. The breath test resulted in a failure and the operator was placed under arrest and taken into custody. 

The accused was then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for further breath tests. Two samples of breath were supplied to the Intoxilyzer Technician and both tests were found to be over the legal limit. 

Michael LEWIS, 32 years-of-age from Strathroy-Caradoc Township has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

Further investigation revealed that the snow machine being operated by the accused was not insured at the time of the stop. An additional charge was laid under the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act (MSVA).

The involved snow machine was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 6th, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Drunk Driver Vs House – One Arrested

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Central Huron resident with Impaired driving following a collision on January 22nd at approximately 11:25 a.m. 

Huron County OPP, Central Huron Fire Department and Huron County Paramedic Services were called to the scene of a collision on January 22nd, 2023. Upon arrival, emergency services discovered that a single vehicle had impacted a family home located on William Street South in Central Huron (Clinton), causing considerable damage to the involved pickup truck and residence. Investigation revealed that the pickup truck driver had been travelling Westbound on Townsend Street and failed to stop at the posted stop sign, crossing over William Street South, over a curb and into the front of the residence. The lone driver was transported to hospital for minor injuries.

Police spoke to the driver and determined that they were under the influence of a drug(s) while driving. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and taken into custody. 

Johnathon SCHRIVER, 29 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired 

The accused was additionally charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 27th, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Teeswater Resident Arrested For Sexual Assault – Police Fear More Victims – WEGG Arrested & Released

(NORTH MIDDLESEX, ON) – Members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit are investigating a historical sexual assault in North Middlesex.

As a result, Andrea WEGG, a 47-year-old of Teeswater, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Sexual Exploitation

·      Sexual Assault

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on March 23, 2023, to speak to the charges.

The assaults are reported to have occurred during the mid 2000’s and police believe there may be additional victims.

Wingham Drug Bust – CAMPBELL & SCHNELLER

(NORTH HURON, ON) – An investigation conducted by the Huron-Perth Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), Grey-Bruce CSCU, Huron OPP Major Crime Unit (MCU), West Region Tactics and Rescue Units (TRU), West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), and Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU) has culminated this week in a seizure of illegal drugs, stolen property, weapons, and cash.

On Thursday, February 09, 2023, OPP executed a search warrant at a residence on Centre Street, Wingham in the Township of North Huron. 

As a result of the execution of the search warrant, police seized an imitation BB-gun, a “flick-knife”, ammunition, and stolen garden power tools. Police also seized a quantity of suspected cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, psilocybin, and oxycodone. A quantity of Canadian currency was also seized.

The combined estimated value of the seized drugs is $29,365.00.

The combined estimated value of the seized property is $2,355.00

Canadian currency seized is $410.00

Quinn CAMPBELL, 26 years of age from North Huron has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Psilocybin (Magic Mushrooms)
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – Oxycodone (Percocet)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Possession of ammunition contrary to a Prohibition Order
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon – (flick knife)
  • Breach of Probation (eight counts)
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order (six counts)

The accused was processed and held for a bail hearing.

Stacey SCHNELLER, 31 years of age from Durham has been charged with: 

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Breach of Probation (two counts)

The accused was processed and held for a bail hearing.

Collision Closes Hwy 86 & Injures 9

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) – On February 4, 2023, at approximately 5:13 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles. It was reported that a minivan with eight occupants and a pick-up truck with one occupant had collided on Perth Line 86, Perth County. The Perth County OPP, Huron County Ambulance and local fire departments attended the scene.

As a result of the collision, the lone occupant of the pick-up truck was air-lifted to a London area hospital with possible life-threatening injuries, six occupants from the minivan were transported to local hospitals via EMS with minor injuries and the driver and one occupant from the minivan were transported to a local hospital via EMS, then air-lifted to a London area hospital with serious injuries.  

Perth Line 86 was closed between Perth Road 178 and Molesworth Line for several hours to investigate the collision with the assistance of the West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team (TIME). It has since re-opened for traffic.

The investigation is continuing.

Meaford Arson Rampage – Kurtis GALBRAITH Arrested

(MEAFORD, ON) The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have made an arrest and laid several charges following an arson investigation in the Municipality of Meaford.

Detectives from the Grey Bruce OPP Major Crime Unit (MCU) were assigned to investigate a series of fires that occurred in the Municipality of Meaford during the year of 2021 and 2022.

On February 3, 2023, those Detectives arrested and charged Kurtis GALBRAITH, 21 years-of-age, from the Municipality of Meaford with the following offences:

  • Arson – Damage to property (nine counts)

The accused was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound where they were remanded into custody.

Weapons & $65,000 In Stolen Property Seized In Raid

(HURON EAST, ON) – An investigation conducted by the Huron-Perth Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), Central and West Region Tactics and Rescue Units (TRU), and West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) has culminated this week in a seizure of various stolen property, prohibited weapons, and drugs.

On Tuesday, February 07, 2023, OPP executed a search warrant at a residence on Harpurhey Road in the Municipality of Huron East. 

As a result of the execution of the search warrant, police located and seized a quantity of stolen property including a 2022 travel trailer, 2015 Kawasaki motorcycle, new Lennox air conditioning unit, Stihl chainsaws and a snowmobile jacket. Also seized during the search were two imitation pellet handguns, a taser-style weapon, various throwing knives, .22-calibre ammunition, and a set of lock picks. Police also seized a quantity of suspected cocaine.  

The combined estimated value of the recovered property is $64,000.00.

The combined estimated value of the seized prohibited weapons is $1,400.00

Christopher DALTON, 45 years of age from Huron East has been charged with:

  • Possession of Break-in Instruments
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (two counts)
  • Possession of weapons/ammunition contrary to a Prohibition Order (eight counts)
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon (three counts)

The accused was processed and held for a bail hearing.

Stephen COOMBS, 55 years of age of Huron East has been charged with: 

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (three counts)
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance – Cocaine

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich on March 20, 2023.

Drunk Driver Sends 5 To Hospital – Kyle BAKELAAR Arrested

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Central Huron resident with several criminal driving offences following a rollover collision on January 15th at approximately 5:30 a.m. 

Huron County OPP, were called to the scene of a collision on January 15, 2023, just after 5:40 a.m. Upon arrival, emergency services discovered that a pickup truck had rolled into a farm field on Maitland Block Road near Base Line in the Municipality of Central Huron. The driver and five passengers were treated at hospital for various injuries, with one passenger sustaining serious injuries.

Police spoke to the driver and determined that they had been consuming alcohol prior to driving. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for Impaired Operation. After receiving medical treatment at the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital, the driver provided breath samples to police which resulted in readings over the legal limit.

Kyle BAKELAAR, 19 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with:

–      Operation Causing Bodily Harm,

–      Operation Over Legal Limit Causing Bodily Harm,

–      Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 27th, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
