31 Year Old Caught Going 97 in a 50

(PERTH EAST, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Brampton driver after they were speeding more than 47km/hr over the limit in Perth East.

On April 14, 2023, at approximately 9:34 p.m., a police officer stopped a vehicle on Line 34 in the Township of Perth East after it was found to be travelling 97km/h in a 50km/h limit zone.

A 31-year-old resident from New Hamburg has been charged with:

–      Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform stunt – Excessive speed

–      Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit

A 30-day driving suspension and 14-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on May 23, 2023.

Spousal Assault – One Arrested

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a North Perth resident after a domestic disturbance occurrence.

On April 14, 2023, at approximately 5:57 p.m., Perth County OPP started a domestic investigation. Through the investigation, it was determined that the victim was assaulted by the accused.  

A 32-year-old resident of North Perth was arrested and charged with:

–      Assault – spousal

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on May 8, 2023.

34 Year Old Caught Going 2X Speed Limit

(PERTH EAST, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Stratford driver after they were speeding more than double the speed limit in the Township of Perth East.  

On April 13, 2023, at approximately 3:56 p.m., police stopped a vehicle on Line 34 in Perth East, after it was found to be travelling 175 km/h in an 80 km/h limit zone.

As a result, a 34-year-old of Stratford has been charged with:

–      Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive speed

–      Fail to have insurance card

A 30-day-driving suspension and 14 vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford May  date to answer to the charges.

ANDERSON Arrested For Fraud

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to a business on Mitchell Road South, Listowel on April 10, 2023, just before 4:00 p.m., after a person was witnessed removing sale tags from store items and placing them on items they were purchasing.   

Frances ANDERSON, 66, of Minto Township, has been charged with:

–      Theft Fraud Under $5000

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

58 Over Limit – 14 Day Vehicle Impoundment & 30 Day Suspension

(WEST PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Waterloo driver after they were speeding more than 58 km/h over the limit in the Municipality of West Perth.

On April 12, 2023, at approximately 7:21 p.m., police stopped a vehicle on Maddison Street West in West Perth, after it was found to be travelling 138 km/h in an 80 km/h limit zone.

As a result, a 20-year-old of Waterloo has been charged with:

–      Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive speed

A 30-day-driving suspension and 14 vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Break & Enter – Suspect(s) At Large

(NORTH PERTH, ON) -Perth County Ontario Provincial Police investigated a break and enter at an Inkerman Street West, North Perth business.

On April 11, 2023, at approximately 7:31 a.m., police responded to a break a enter after the fact.

Unknown(s) forced their way into the business and left with tools, credit cards and other property.

Gate Rammed – Police Investigating

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On April 8, 2022, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received information that a vehicle rammed a gate and drove down a walking trail on Line 77 in the Municipality of North Perth.

It was determined that unknown(s) rammed the gate at the entrance of the trail and destroyed crops. The vehicle was described as a loud truck with bright lights.  

The OPP want to remind all residents that if they see anything suspicious to please contact police immediately. If anyone is found committing acts of mischief, appropriate charges with be laid.

Assault – One Sent To Hospital

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH/ERAMOSA, ON) –On April 23, 2023, at approximately 6:00 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an assault at a private residential community on Highway 7, west of Guelph. It was reported that two known individuals had assaulted a resident and that the injuries were severe.

A 60-year-old resident was transported to a local hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation is continuing and is believed to be an isolated incident.

Collision In Goderich Leads To Impaired Charge – BIRKS

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh resident with Impaired Operation after a motor vehicle collision in a parking lot on April 3rd. 

Huron OPP officers responded to a business parking lot on Huron Road in the Town of Goderich for a two-vehicle collision that occurred at approximately 8:40 p.m. In speaking with the driver, officers had reason to believe that they were impaired by drug and were subsequently arrested.

The accused was then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for further tests conducted by an OPP Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).  

Linda BIRKS, 64 years-of-age from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township has been charged with the following offence:

–      Operation while Impaired – Drugs

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days and the accused’ driver’s licence was seized for 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for May 8th, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Meaford Robbery – Repeat Offender Arrested Again

(MEAFORD, ON) – The Grey Bruce OPP are issuing an updated release as the initial release had an error in the title.

On April 20, 2023, at 11:59 P.M., members from the Grey Bruce OPP responded to a business on Sykes Street North in the Municipality of Meaford for a robbery in progress.

On April 21, 2023, at 12:30 A.M., uniform members located the suspect, and they were taken into custody.

Members from the OPP West Region Emergency Response Team, and the OPP Canine Unit attended the area, and several items of offence related property were also located.

The Grey Bruce OPP have charged Dylan DESHANE, 30 years-of-age, from Sarnia with the following offences:

  • Robbery with violence
  • Disguise with intent
  • Fail to comply with probation order

The accused is being held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.

30,000 Chicks Stolen

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating the theft of approximately 30,000 chicks from a farm in South Huron.

On Thursday April 20, 2023, Huron OPP officers received a report that the 15-day-old baby chicks were stolen sometime overnight on April 19/20 between approximately 3:30 p.m. and 2:20 a.m.

The chicks are valued at $1.40 each which calculates to a total of $42,000 in losses.

The Huron OPP is seeking the public’s help in identifying the culprit(s) involved in this incident. Any witnesses to the theft are encouraged to contact police.

FORD Arrested For Theft

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – A suspect has been charged after stealing from a local business in the Municipality of North Perth.

On April 10, 2023, at approximately 2:52 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a business on Wallace Avenue North, in Listowel, after a person was observed loitering.

As a result, Kimberly FORD, 31, of Southgate Township, has been charged with:

–      Theft Under $5000 – Shoplifting

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on May 15, 2023.

24 Year Old Arrested For Impaired Driving

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On April 8, 2023, at approximately 4:45 a.m., officers from the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Line 40 in the Township of Perth East.

Upon speaking with the driver, the officer had reason to believe the driver was impaired by a drug. The driver was transported to hospital and was subsequently arrested and transported to a local operations centre for a Drug Recognition Evaluation.   

As a result, Shelana BARCLAY, 24-year-old of Cambridge, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on May 1, 2023.

37 Year Old Arrested For Impaired Driving

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located and investigated a passenger vehicle after receiving a report of a suspected impaired driver.

On April 6, 2023, at approximately 8:41 p.m., an officer of the Perth County OPP located the vehicle on Perth Line 86 in the Municipality of North Perth. The driver was showing signs of impairment.

As a result of the investigation, Budhi Rag RAI, 37, of North Perth, has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.  

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on May 15, 2023.

Michael GREER Arrested Again & Facing Numerous Charges

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated an unwanted person occurrence in Central Huron, (Clinton) on April 2nd which led to an arrest and 10 criminal charges.

On Sunday April 02, 2023, at approximately 10:05 p.m. Huron OPP officers received a report of an unwanted person at a business on Beech Street in Clinton. Police responded within minutes and located the subject of the complaint who had reportedly just stolen an employee’s bicycle and fled. Officers checked the area and located the stolen bicycle nearby where the suspect was found hiding inside a building that they had just broken into. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Huron OPP detachment for processing. During the search of the accused, several pieces of identification were located that had been reported stolen earlier in the day.

As a result of the investigation, Michael GREER, 35 years of age of no fixed address has been charged with the following offences:

–      Theft Under $5,000,

–      Break and Enter,

–      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (four counts),

–      Possession of an Identity Document (two counts),

–      Fail to Comply with a Probation Order (two counts).

The accused was held for a bail hearing and has been remanded into custody.
