Arrest Made In Workplace Sex Assault – ROOT

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – On February 3, 2020, Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a sexual assault that occurred at a group home on First Line in the Town of Erin. It was reported that a female employee was sexually assaulted on two separate occasions by a co-worker in the fall of 2019.

As a result of the investigation, Robert Doug ROOT, 51-years-old of Guelph, was charged with two counts of Sexual Assault and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on March 13, 2020.

Goderich Thief Caught With Methamphetamine – PROUSE

(GODERICH, ON) – A Goderich resident is facing some criminal charges following a theft investigation conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

On January 22, 2020 Huron OPP were asked to investigate a theft of a laptop and carry bag that was stolen from a restaurant in the Town of Goderich. A review of the patron seating area video surveillance was conducted and a suspect was identified. About an hour later an OPP officer spotted the suspect on Blake Street in Goderich. The suspect was carrying the stolen laptop and carry bag. He was placed under arrest and a search incident to arrest found the accused to be also in possession of various break-in tools and a quantity of suspected methamphetamine.

Corey PROUSE, 41 years of age from Goderich has been charged with Theft Under $5,000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, Possession of Break-in Instruments and Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 9, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Impaired Driver With Fentanyl On Hwy 4 – GOUDREAU

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – An Exeter resident will have to make a court appearance at the end of March after he was caught impaired driving by police this past weekend.

On Saturday, February 1, 2020 at approximately 12:30 a.m. Huron County & Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a traffic complaint about a possible impaired driver that was travelling northbound on Highway 4 in an erratic manner. Officers began patrolling for the suspect pickup truck and a short while later a Huron OPP officer spotted the suspect vehicle coming into Exeter.

A traffic stop was conducted and upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer noticed the driver to be displaying several signs of impairment. In addition, the driver had difficulty putting his vehicle into park as it nearly bumped into a stationary police cruiser.

The driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and a search incident to arrest found the driver to be in possession of suspected fentanyl.

The accused was transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment where he was assessed by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE). A series of evaluations were conducted and the driver was ultimately deemed to be impaired by a drug.

Joel GOUDREAU, 34 years of age from Exeter has been charged with Operation While Impaired and Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid. He has since been released from custody with a court date scheduled for March 30, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

His motor vehicle was towed and impounded and his driver’s licence has been suspended for an automatic 90 days.

70 Year Old Involved In School Bus Collision

(GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On February 3, 2020 at 7:18 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 10 south of Flesherton, Grey County involving a school bus and (grey) car. The car was rear ended by the school bus.

OPP officers attended and found 2 persons with minor injuries. The driver of the car and a passenger on the school bus were transported by ambulance to hospital. There were a total of 16 people on the school bus, 1 driver and 15 high school students.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged the driver of the school bus, a 70 year old from Flesherton, with Careless Driving.

Officers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Drunk Driver Arrested In Gorrie After Police Follow Footprints In Snow – CRAPPER

(HOWICK, ON) – Some good old fashion police work over the weekend has resulted in a police arresting a Gorrie resident with Impaired Operation.

At approximately 4:44 a.m. on Sunday, February 2, 2020 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a call about an overturned vehicle that was located in the ditch south of Gorrie along with a possible suspect that was seen walking into town.

Officers responded to the scene where they located and followed a set of footprints into Gorrie. Eventually the tracks in the snow led officers to a residence in Gorrie. A check on the residence initially proved negative however as police were leaving the property a motor vehicle pulled into the laneway. Officers approached the vehicle and were quick to observe the passenger matched the description of the suspect male driver. Further investigation revealed the footprints at the scene matched the tread ware pattern of the male passenger. Upon speaking with the male the investigating officer also noted the suspect had consumed some alcohol and was displaying signs of impairment.

As a result the male was arrested for Impaired Operation and was transported to the Listowel OPP Detachment for breath tests. He later provided two samples of his breath to the intoxilizer technician and both of his tests were analyzed to be above the legal limit.

Additionally, a search incident to arrest of the accused resulted in police locating and seizing a quantity of suspected cocaine.

Brendan CRAPPER, 33 years of age from Gorrie has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus, Operation While Impaired and Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine. He was also served with a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded. He has been released from custody with a court date scheduled for March 9, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Dirt Bikes Stolen From Rural Property

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On January 31, 2020, North Perth Officers responded to a break and enter at a rural property located on Line 91 in the area of Road 146.

An outbuilding was entered and a number of dirt bikes were reported stolen. The incident occurred sometime overnight on January 30th.

The dirt bikes are described as:

Kawasaki KX80cc – green in color.

KTM 65cc – orange and black in color.

Yamaha PW80cc – blue and white in color.

Suzuki 70cc – yellow in color.

31 Year Old Caught Going 135 in an 80

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH/ERAMOSA, ON) – On January 25, 2020, at approximately 9:00 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 6, north of Guelph. The officer observed a brown pick-up truck travelling above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 135 km/h.

As a result, Gerald William REININK, 31-years-old of Fergus has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario court of justice – Provincial Offences Court on April 1, 2020. Their vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

Unlicensed Driver Arrested For Refusing To Blow

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On January 29, 2020, at approximately 12:30 a.m. a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a driver of a blue pickup truck on Highway 6 south of Mount Forest. The officer stopped the driver after the vehicle had been seen weaving within the lane.

While speaking with the driver, officers formed the opinion that the driver was under the influence by alcohol. A Roadside Screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. Further investigation identified that the driver had no licence, insurance or a valid permit for the vehicle. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Shannon M. FLEURY, 42-years-old of Mount Forest has been charged with Refuse to Comply with Breath Demand, Drive without Insurance, Drive without a Licence, and Drive without a Valid Permit. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on March 3, 2020.

Name Released In Bluevale Incident – SHWADCHUCK – #FreedomMan

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid numerous charges against a Bluevale resident in connection with an incident that took place last week in Bluevale.

On January 28, 2020 Huron OPP members along with several specialized units responded to an Orange Street residence in Bluevale to check on the well-being of a resident and to conduct a firearms related investigation.

A male subject was taken into custody that afternoon and the subsequent investigation conducted by members of the Huron County OPP Crime Unit has resulted in police laying several criminal charges against the subject.

A search warrant was later executed on the premises which resulted in police seizing firearms, ammunition, prohibited devices and prohibited weapons.

Myron SHWADCHUCK, 72 years of age from Morris-Turnberry has been charged with the following offences:

Careless Storage of a Firearm (Nine counts)

Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon (Three counts)

Possession of a Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition (Four counts)

He remains in custody with a video court appearance scheduled for February 6, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Hero Resident Fends Off Home Invader – Repeat Offender With Weapon Arrested – AMARAL #StandYourGround

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) -On January 29, 2020, at approximately 10:00 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an assault that had just occurred at an apartment building on Gordon Street in the Town of Fergus. It was reported that an unknown person was attempting to get through the security door and had assaulted a resident who was trying to stop the would-be trespasser. The suspect had fled on foot prior to police arrival.

Police received further reports from neighbours in the area reporting a suspicious person passing through yards. Police located and arrested the suspect on Sideroad 15 near the Fifth Line, West Garafraxa. Search incident to arrest discovered that the suspect was in possession of a prohibited edged weapon and an altered government issued cheque.

As a result, Ryan Jacob Robert AMARAL, 30-years-old of Elora, has been charged with Assault, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Falsification of Documents with Fraudulent Intent, and Breaching a Weapons Prohibition order, contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of justice – Guelph on March 3, 2020.

70 Year Old Impaired Driver Ends Up In Ditch – STEPHEN

(CULROSS TWP, ON) – On February 1, 2020 at 4:55 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle crash along Concession 8 in Culross Township. Officers arrived with Bruce County paramedics and members of the Teeswater Fire Department to find a pick-up truck had left the roadway and hit a fence before coming to rest in the ditch. The driver was found to have been drinking alcohol.

Robert STEPHEN, 70-years-old, of Sullivan Township was charged with Impaired Operation, Operate over 80 milligrams and Care or Control of a Vehicle with Liquor readily available. He is scheduled to appear in court on February 26, 2020 to answer to the charges.

He was transported to a local hospital for assessment of non-life threatening injuries.

Break And Enter In Lucknow

(LUCKNOW, ON) – On January 30, 2020 at 6:17 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break-in from a residence in the 500 block of Gough Street in Lucknow. Sometime between 6:00 a.m. on January 30, 3030 and 5:00 p.m. on January 30, 2020, the home was forcibly entered. The list of missing property includes a quantity of Elite Menthol cigarettes, a quantity of coins, a Dewalt impact drill, a Kuny tool bag, an IPhone 7 and some older cell phones. The value of the stolen property is estimated to be more than $2,000.

Teens Charged In Robbery – HASSAN & KHEYRE

(TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH, ON) – On January 25, 2020 at approximately 11:20 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a robbery that just occurred at a business located on Brock Road south just north of Highway 401 in the Township of Puslinch.

It was reported that two persons, with their faces concealed, entered the store and threatened the employee while demanding cash. The suspects stole a quantity of cash and cigarettes prior to fleeing the business on foot.

The incident was captured by the security camera on the property.

On January 26, 2020 another policing organization arrested a number of suspects that were involved in a similar robbery, with two of the suspects matching the description of those that were involved in the Puslinch incident.

As a result of the investigation, Hasan HASSAN, 18-years-old of Etobicoke and Dahir KHEYRE, 19-years-old of Brampton have been charged with Robbery with Intent and Disguise with Intent contrary to the Criminal Code. They will appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on March 3, 2020 to answer to the charges.

One Airlifted Following Collision

(BLUEWATER, ON) – Officers from the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment remain on scene of a two-vehicle collision that has taken place west of Brucefield.

At approximately 1:40 p.m. Huron County OPP, Huron County Paramedic Services, Brucefield Fire Department and Air ORNGE responded to the crash scene located at the intersection of Airport Line and Mill Road (Huron County Road #3).

Both vehicle drivers have sustained injuries. The driver of a pickup truck has been sent to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the driver of a sport utility vehicle was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries but non-life threatening injuries.

Mill Road at Airport Line will remain closed for approximately another 90 minutes.

Please take an alternate route to avoid delays.

Please respect the road closure signs in place. Should you decide to drive around the road closed signs you may face a charge of Drive on Closed Roadway under the Highway Traffic Act. This charge has a fine of $110 and three demerit points upon conviction.
