Repeat Offender Arrested Following Chase Through Swamp – Methamphetamine A Factor

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On March 22, 2020 at approximately 2:05 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the occupants of a motor vehicle on Highway 6 in the Township of Wellington North.

While speaking with the driver, the officer observed a clear baggy containing a white powdery substance, hanging partially out of the front pouch pocket of the passenger’s hooded sweatshirt. The officer repeatedly asked the person to identify themselves however they refused, exited the vehicle and attempted to flee.

A foot pursuit ensued through a swamp while the suspect attempted to dispose of the drugs. After a brief struggle and with the assistance of the West Grey Police Service, the suspect was taken into custody.

Police conducted a search incident to arrest and seized a substantial amount of Canadian currency was seized as well as a large quantity of crystal methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and baggies which in totality are consistent with possession for the purpose of trafficking drugs.

Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking

Assault With Intent to Resist Arrest

Obstruct Peace Officer

Fail To Comply With Probation Order

The accused was held for a bail hearing.

23 Year Old Caught Going 135 In an 80

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On March 20, 2020, at approximately 4:10 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on the Eighth Line near Side Road 14. The officer observed a black sedan travelling westbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 135 km/h.

Isaiah Jeremy DEMOL, 23-years-old of Mapleton Township has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on July 15, 2020. Their vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

Several Firearms Stolen From Unlocked Shed

(BLUEWATER, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers are seeking tips from the public to help solve a break, enter and theft that occurred at a rural property south of Varna last week.

Sometime between 7:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on March 19, 2020 those responsible attended the property located on Bannockburn Line and entered into a drive shed through an unlocked man door. Once inside the premises the thieves forced entry into a firearms locker and stole several firearms, in addition a dirt bike and some miscellaneous tools were stolen.

Some of the stolen items are as follows:

A brown stock, bolt action .22 calibre rifle

A brown stock, bolt action .243 calibre rifle

A Winchester brown and black semi-automatic .12 gauge shotgun

A brown .12 gauge shotgun

A blue & white Yamaha dirt bike

Two Stihl brand chainsaws

An air compressor

A value for the stolen property has yet to be determined.

48 Year Old Caught Going 150 in an 80

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On March 20, 2020, at approximately 9:00 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Wellington Road 109 near Wellington Road 16. The officer observed a silver motor vehicle travelling eastbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 150 km/h.

As a result, Kevin SIMICK, 48-years-old of Tay Township has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on July 15, 2020. Their vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

OPP Investigate After Second Home Destroyed by Fire in 12 Hours

(West Perth, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a residential fire on March 23, 2020 shortly before 5:00 a.m. This was the second residential fire in a 12 hour time period in the Municipality of West Perth.

Police and fire crews were on scene at Perth Road 180, between Line 39 and Line 42, in the Municipality of West Perth.

The residence was unoccupied at the time, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation and the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal has been contacted.

Emergency crews had just responded to a previous residential fire the night before, March 22, at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Perth Road 164 in the Municipality of West Perth. At this time, police do not believe the two fires are related.

Stolen Vehicles – Three People Arrested

(GLENCO, ON) – The Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the area of Elizabeth Street for a report of a disturbance on March 23, 2020 around 2:30 a.m.

Officers located a stolen vehicle and arrested a 15-year-old youth from Hamilton, Ontario with possession of stolen property and carrying a concealed prohibited device – spring loaded knife.

The youth was later released with a future court date at the Ontario Court of Justice London.

Officers were then able to locate another stolen vehicle, unoccupied in the area Glendon Drive near Christina Road.

The OPP Canine Unit assisted in tracking and locating two parties in connection to this stolen vehicle.

Officers than arrest 21-year-old Jacob BENFORD of Hamilton, Ontario and charged them with possession of property obtained by crime X2 and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Officers also arrested 19-year-old Brittney TOBIAS of Hamilton, Ontario with possession of property obtained by crime X2.

Carjacking – Suspects At Large

(Ingersoll, ON) – The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating a stolen vehicle from Beachville Road. Two people approached a vehicle and demanded the driver and passenger out. An edged weapon was used in the offence. This occurred around 4:00 p.m. on March 23, 2020.

Police have recovered the stolen vehicle in Norfolk County on March 24, 2020.

Residential Fire – One Sent To Hospital

(WEST PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a fully engulfed residential fire on March 22, 2020 shortly after 5:30 p.m.

Police and fire crews from West Perth, Perth East, and North Perth responded to an address on Perth Road 164, in the Municipality of West Perth, where the fire was extinguished.

One person was transported to hospital with minor injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation and the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal has been contacted.

Spike Belt Used To Stop Vehicle – Four Arrested

(LONDON, ON) – On March 11, 2020, members of the OPP West Region Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) squad were conducting an investigation on a federal parolee in London.

Officers identified the suspect and three associates and attempted to contain their vehicle, but the suspects fled the scene.

A short time later, police spotted the suspect vehicle on Muncey Road in Strathroy-Caradoc. Officers with Chippewa of the Thames Police Service and Oneida Police Service deployed a spike belt to bring the suspect vehicle to a stop and arrested the suspects. Officers seized a quantity of cocaine, crack cocaine and fentanyl at the scene.

Kenneth ANTONE, 37-years old of London, who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant, is charged with:

Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance (3 counts).

Bobbi Lynn DOXTATOR, 30-years-old of Oneida of the Thames First Nation, is charged with:

Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.

Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Flight from a Peace Officer.

Hashi YASSIN, 24-years-old of Scarborough, is charged with:

Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance (2 counts).

Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.

Failure to Comply with an Order.

A 17-year-old individual is charged with:

Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance (2 counts).

Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.

Failure to Comply with an Order.

All four individuals have appeared in court in London.

Repeat Offender Arrested In Mildmay

(MILDMAY, ON) – On March 19, 2020 at 10:03 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a disturbance on Pinkerton Street in Mildmay. Officers arrived and determined that an assault had taken place. The accused refused to cooperate with police and became combative while being arrested.

A 32-year-old Brockton resident was charged with 2 counts of Assault with a Weapon, Assault a Peace Officer, Assault, Mischief under $5,000 and Breach of Recognizance. The accused was held in custody pending the results of a bail hearing.

Firearms Stolen During Break And Enter

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating a residential break and enter that occurred on March 13, 2020 at a home on Wellington Road 50 but wasn’t reported until March 18, 2020.

Investigation revealed that on March 13, 2020 at approximately 7:30 p.m. an unknown suspect gained entry into a residence by forcing open the front door. Once inside, the house and contents were rummaged through and the following items were stolen:

Shotgun – 12 calibre, double barrel, over and under, Marlin

Pistol – 22 calibre, V-Bernadelli Gardone

The suspect is describe as male, mid 20’s to early 30’s, short goatee- mustache/beard and a tribal type tattoos on upper arm/s, wearing a tight fitting skull, light coloured hoodie over a Toronto Raptors t-shirt and camouflage print pants.

BOLO Stolen ATV From Minnie Street – Plate: 2HS29

(WINGHAM, ON) – On March 19, 2020, the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a theft report from a residence along Minnie Street in Wingham. Sometime between 5:00 a.m. on March 19, 2020 and 6:00 a.m. on March 19, 2020, a Silver Can-Am Uplander All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) with licence #2HS29 was taken. There is no estimate on the value of the stolen ATV available at this time.

60 Year Old Facing Sexual Assault Charges

(WEST PERTH, ON) – A 60-year-old West Perth man has been charged with a number of sexual offences as a result of incidents which occurred over a period of more than 3 years from 2016 to 2020.

The Perth County OPP Crime Unit is investigating and the accused has been charged with:

4 counts of Sexual Assault

4 counts of Sexual Interference

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Stratford on a later date.

Two Charged In Shroom Bust

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERMASOA, ON) – On March 6, 2020 the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) along with members of the Grey County and South Bruce OPP CSCU executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence on Princess Street in Rockwood.

As a result of the search warrant, officers seized a quantity of Psilocybin, a Schedule 3 Substance, also known as Magic Mushrooms.

Susanne HEPBURN, 45-years-old and Richard PIOTTO, 43-years-old, both of Guelph-Eramosa Township have been charged with Possession of a Schedule 3 Substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA). They are scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph to answer to their charge.

31 Year Old From Clifford Facing Drunk Driving Charge

(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) – On March 14, 2020, at approximately 2:50 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of a white sport utility vehicle on Highway 89 near Wellington Road 2 for a Highway Traffic Act violation.

During the course of the investigation, officers formed the opinion that the driver had consumed alcohol. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

Ryan Richard Patrick MATTHEWS, 31-years-old of Clifford has been charged with Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on April 17, 2020 to answer to the charge.
