Another Hiker Falls Off Cliff

(GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – For the second time in just four days, Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to assist paramedics and the Fire department with a hiker that had fallen off of a cliff at Eugenia Falls Conservation Area in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

On June 16th, 2020 a youth was walking with friends, when he lost his footing and fell down the rock face into a cavern below. Grey Bruce OPP assisted Grey County Paramedics and members of the Grey Highlands and Blue Mountains Fire Department in rescuing this youth, after several hours of navigating the steep cliffs. This youth was transported to hospital with minor injuries. Following the incident the property was closed by Grey Sauble Conservation Authority.

On June 19th, 2020 4 hiker entered the closed conservation area. One of the hikers lost his footing, falling several metres off of a cliff. Grey Bruce OPP assisted Grey County Paramedics and members of the Grey Highlands Fire Department with this rescue. This male was transported via air ambulance to a Regional hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. OPP issued the involved hikers provincial offence notices for entering premises when entry prohibited, section 2(1)(a)(i) Trespass to Property Act.

Grey Bruce OPP reminds all hikers that the Eugenia Falls Conservation Area is currently closed to the public. No entry is permitted and anyone located inside the park may be charged with Trespassing.

Plane Crash In Puslinch

(TOWN OF PUSLINCH, ON) – On June 22, 2020 at approximately 11:35 a.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Puslinch Township Fire Services and Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services responded to a report of an airplane crash on the Puslinch-Flamborough Townlie.

Investigation revealed that shortly after take-off from a private runway, a small two seater airplane experienced mechanical issues. The pilot attempted to return to the landing strip when the crash occurred. The 63-year-old pilot was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The airplane received moderate damage.

The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) was notified about the incident.

Repeat Offender Arrested In Clinton – HUDSON

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged an Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh resident with Failing to Comply with a Probation Order & Possession of a Controlled Substance following a stop that took place last week.

On Thursday, June 18 at approximately 8:00 p.m. a Huron OPP officer was patrolling on Albert Street in Clinton when the officer noticed a wanted person walking northbound on Albert Street. The officer had knowledge the subject was wanted for failing to comply with a probation order therefore an arrest was made. A subsequent search of the accused revealed the accused was in possession of a quantity of suspected hydromorphone.

Ashley HUDSON, 29 years of age from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Hydromorphone and Fail to Comply with Probation Order. She has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 31, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Pickup Truck Stolen

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to investigate the theft of a pickup truck that was stolen near Exeter last week.

The victim reported the truck was stolen from the Morrison Dam Conservation Area located on Morrison Line on Friday, June 19, 2020 sometime between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

The stolen vehicle is described as a red, 2005 Dodge Ram 4-door pickup truck. The truck had a rusted tailgate and a missing driver’s side running board. The truck is valued at approximately $6,000.

Also inside the truck was a women’s purse that contained bank cards, identification cards and medication.

Golf Cart Stolen From Vanastra

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continue to investigate a theft of a golf cart that took place last week in Vanastra.

Sometime between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on June 16, 2020 thieves stole the Club Car golf cart from a business property located on 3rd Street in Vanastra.

The golf cart is described as a silver golf cart with a dump box attached to the back. The cart is valued at approximately $1,000.

Hit And Run In Listowel

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is looking for the driver of a car after it failed to remain at the scene of a minor collision in the Municipality of North Perth last week.

At approximately 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday June 17 2020, a black Mazda and a yellow Dodge Ram pick-up truck collided at the intersection of Wallace Avenue North and Main Street, Listowel. The collision resulted in minor damage to both vehicles, but the driver of the Mazda left the scene.

Police are now asking the public for information. The suspect vehicle will have damage to the front passenger side corner. There were no known injuries as a result of the collision.

Seaforth Methamphetamine Bust – GREER, NETTERFIELD, CROLLE, FEDDES, ANDERSON & HENDRICKSON

(HURON EAST, ON) – A half-dozen individuals are facing drug possession charges following a recent investigation conducted by members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

On Thursday, June 18, 2020, members from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Huron-Perth & Grey-Bruce Community Street Crimes Units (CSCU) and West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a search warrant at a residence located on Main Street North in Seaforth.

As a result of the execution of the search warrant, police seized small quantities of Methamphetamine and Fentanyl. The estimated value of the seized controlled substances is approximately $190.

In addition to the seized controlled substances, police also seized prohibited weapons consisting of 12 shuriken stars and a butterfly knife. Further, stolen property consisting of identification cards and credit cards was also seized.

Alisha NETTERFIELD, 31 years of age, from Seaforth has been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

Joshawa CROLLE, 28 years of age, from Mitchell has been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine.

Kyle GREER, 30 years of age, from Seaforth has been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Fail to Comply with Probation Order and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (3 counts).

Tracey FEDDES, 52 years of age, from Seaforth has been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (3 counts).

Chad ANDERSON, 29 years of age, from Seaforth has been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Fentanyl and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.

Sky HENDRICKSON, 26 years of age, from Perth East has been charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.

All accused have since been released from custody with court dates scheduled for September 28, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Methamphetamine Bust – HILLYER

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On June 18, 2020 at 1:35 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle on Highway 6, near an industrial park in Georgian Bluffs, Ontario.

As a result of this investigation, the Grey Bruce OPP have charged David HILLYER, 38 years old, of Georgian Bluffs, Ontario with the following offences:

Possession of a schedule 1 substance – Methamphetamine, section 4(1) Controlled Drugs and Substance Act;

Operate a motor vehicle without insurance, section 2(1)(a) Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act;

Use plates not authorized for motor vehicle, section 12(1)(d) Highway Traffic Act;

The unauthorized licence plates were seized and the abandoned vehicle was towed from the highway.

The accused was released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on August 6, 2020.

Impaired Charge Following Collision – AUCOIN

(PERTH EAST, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged a person after a collision in the Township of Perth East.

Shortly after 7:00 p.m. on June 17 2020, Perth County OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Road 144 at Perth Line 55.

The investigation revealed that the vehicle had been travelling northbound on Road 144, when the driver lost control and entered the ditch. The vehicle then collided with a cement culvert. There were no injuries as a result of the collision.

The driver was also a G1 driver, and did not have an accompanying driver.

As a result, Amanda AUCOIN, 27, of Perth East has been charged with:

Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 plus

Class G1 Licence Holder – Unaccompanied by Qualified Driver

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford, at a later date, to answer to the charges. The vehicle involved was towed from the scene and a seven day impound was initiated as per statute. The accused’s driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days.

Pervert Alert In Tavistock

(TAVISTOCK, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, assisted by Digital Forensics, along with members of the Oxford County OPP Detachment arrested and charged a Tavistock, Ontario resident following an online child sexual exploitation investigation.

On June 16, 2020, police executed a search warrant at a residence in the Town of Tavistock, seizing electronic exhibits for further examination. As a result of this investigation, a 34-year old, female was arrested and charged with three counts of making an agreement or arrangement to commit a sexual offence against a child under 16 years of age.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing on the 17th of June, 2020.

Charge Following Fatal Collision

(WEST PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid one charge as a result of a fatal two vehicle collision on June 5, 2020 on Perth Line 44, at Perth Road 180 (Huron 14).

Campbell SANDERS, 69, of North Perth, died as a result of the collision.

Peter HIEBERT, 23, of Malahide Township, has since been charged with:

Careless Driving Causing Death, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

The youth was walking with friends, when he lost his footing and fell down the rock face into a cavern below.

Grey Bruce OPP assisted Grey County Paramedics and members of the Grey Highlands and Blue Mountains Fire Department in rescuing this youth, after several hours of navigating the steep cliffs.

18 Year Old Caught Going 140 in an 80

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On June 13, 2020 at approximately 3:05 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar while travelling southbound on Wellington Road 6 near Side Road 7. The officer observed a northbound motor vehicle travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit while passing several vehicles on a hill. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 140 km/h.

Austin MARTELL, 18-years-old of Southgate Township has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on September 2, 2020. The vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

Repeat Offender Facing Charges

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On June 15, 2020, Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a trespassing complaint at Highway 6, Northern Bruce Peninsula, at the Bruce Peninsula National Park. The park is currently closed due to Emergency Orders related to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Officers attended and were told by Parks Canada Wardens that the suspect vehicle, a (red) sport utility vehicle (SUV), left prior to police arrival. Police located the SUV in-line to board the Chi-Cheemaun Ferry, in Tobermory. During the investigation OPP officers learned the driver was prohibited from driving. The driver was instructed they was under arrest, at which time they ran from police. Officers quickly located and arrested the driver, with assistance from a Parks Canada Warden, Owen Sound Transportation staff and civilians that observed this incident.

The accused, Carl MANNARA, 40 years old of no fixed address, has been charged with the following offences,

Operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited, section 320.18(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

Resist a Peace Officer, section 129(a) CC

Failure to comply with release order, section 145(5)(a) CC

The accused was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 16, 2020.

Navneet GUPTA – 135 in a 70

(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On June 14, 2020 at approximately 8:50 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Highway 6 near Wellington Road in the City of Guelph. The officer observed a southbound motor vehicle travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 70 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 135 km/h.

Navneet GUPTA, 46-years-old of Guelph has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on September 2, 2020. The vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
