Motorcycle Vs Car Collision

(SOUTHGATE, ON) – On August 1, 2020 at 12:03 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a two vehicle motor vehicle collision, involving a (black) motorcycle and a (white) car, on Highway 10 at Grey Road 9, Dundalk in Grey County.

OPP officers where assisted at the scene by Grey County Paramedics and Dundalk Fire Department.

The motorcycle was travelling southbound on Highway 10 and collided with the car turning left onto the highway. The 57 year old driver of the motorcycle was transported by ambulance to a hospital with serious injuries.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators attended the scene and are assisting with the investigation. Grey Bruce OPP continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Suspended Repeat Drunk Driver 2X Limit – COSSMAN

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On August 1, 2020 at 8:25 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a white sport utility vehicle (suv) for speeding, southbound on Highway 6, near Limberlost Road, in South Bruce Peninsula, ON.

The driver was currently a suspended G2 novice driver, with a mandatory Ignition Interlock condition for any vehicle that they operate.

OPP officers detected alcohol on their breath and conducted a roadside screening test. The result was a fail. The driver was arrested and transported to Grey Bruce OPP detachment in Wiarton. A breath test, conducted by a qualified Breath Technician, recorded almost twice the legal limit of 80 milligrams (mg) of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Adam COSSMAN, 34 years-of-age, from Concord, ON with the following offences:

operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

operation while impaired with blood alcohol concentration 80 mg or more, section 320.14(1)(b) CC

speeding (1 to 49 kilometres over the posted speed limit), section 128 Highway Traffic Act (HTA)

driving while under suspension, section 53(1) HTA

drive motor vehicle – not equipped with ignition interlock device, Ontario Regulation 287 HTA

This vehicle was towed and will be impounded for 45 days and the accused received a 90 day driver’s licence suspension.

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is required to attend Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on November 12, 2020.

Fatal Motorcycle Vs Truck Collision

(CHATSWORTH, ON) – On August 1, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a two vehicle fatal motor vehicle collision on Grey Road 16 at Concession Road 6, Chatsworth in Grey County.

OPP officers where assisted at the scene by Grey County Paramedics, Inter-township Fire Department and Chatsworth Fire Department.

A (black) motorcycle, westbound on Grey Road 16, collided with a (white) truck, travelling southbound on Concession Road 6. The driver and passenger on the motorcycle were both transported by ambulance to a hospital. The passenger was pronounced dead at the hospital. The 68 year old driver received serious injuries. The 32 year old driver of the truck was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Brenda MCKAY, 68 year old from Chatsworth.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators attended the scene and are assisting with the investigation. Grey Bruce OPP continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

61 Year Old Driver Caught Using Weed

(CARRICK TWP, ON) – On July 31, 2020 at 10:38 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a suspected impaired driver on Highway 9 in Carrick Township. Officers located the vehicle and found that the driver had been using cannabis marijuana.

Limbert CHARLES, 61-years-old, of Toronto was charged with Impaired Driving and Careless Driving. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on October 7, 2020 to answer to the charges.

22 Year Old Drunk Driver Caught Going 2X Speed Limit – MISENER

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A 22-year-old from Cambridge was arrested for Impaired Driving and Dangerous Driving this past weekend after police caught him doing well over the speed limit.

On Saturday, August 1, 2020, at approximately 6:56 p.m., an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer from the West Region Highway Safety Division (HSD) was patrolling southbound on Bluewater Highway when he observed a vehicle racing toward him. A RADAR device was utilized and it confirmed the driver was speeding at a speed double the posted 80 km/h zone speed limit.

Upon speaking with the driver police noted the driver had consumed some alcohol so a roadside screening test was completed. The results of the test revealed the driver had failed thus police arrested him and transported him to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two samples of breath were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were analyzed to be over the legal limit.

Nicholas MISENER, 22 years of age, from Cambridge has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus, Dangerous Driving & Race a Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 14, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

24 Year Old Caught On Closed Road With No Insurance Or Muffler

(PERTH EAST, ON) – One person has been charged with numerous offences after complaints from the public in the Township of Perth East.

Members of the public notified the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) of ongoing issues with a vehicle repeatedly speeding on the closed portion of Line 36, in the Township of Perth East. Officers conducted extra patrols in the area, and just after 7:30 p.m. on July 21 2020, an OPP officer located the suspect vehicle.

Upon investigating the driver and the vehicle, it was determined that the vehicle was not insured, nor did it have a muffler. The validation sticker was expired, and the driver was not able to produce their driver’s licence.

As a result, Korbin LIGHTFOOT-DENCH, 24, of Stratford, has been charged with:

Operate a Motor Vehicle without Insurance

Drive on Closed Highway

Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit

Driver fail to surrender licence

No muffler – motor vehicle

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford, at a later date, to answer to the charges. The vehicle was towed from the scene at the expense of the owner.

July 31st at 5:14 p.m. – Vivek SAHORE, 34 years-of-age, from Hamilton, ON was travelling over 155 km/h in a blue sport utility vehicle (suv), in this posted 80 km/h zone.

August 1st at 8:49 a.m. – Dya AL-HADDAD, 24 years-of-age, from Montreal, QC was travelling over 130 km/h in a red car in this posted 80 km/h zone.

August 1st at 10:11 a.m. – Stephen SCHREINER, 36 years-of-age, from Barrie, ON was travelling over 140 km/h in a white car, in this posted 80 km/h zone.

August 1st at 11:15 a.m. – Abbas AL-MASHITA, 20 years-of-age, from Mississauga, ON was travelling over 140 km/h in a blue suv, in this posted 80 km/h zone.

August 3rd at 11:24 p.m. – Jacob CAMPANELLA, 23 years-of-age, from Stoney Creek, ON was travelling over 110 km/h in a white car, in this posted 50 km/h zone.

All of these drivers were issued a Provincial Summons, a seven day drivers licence suspension and their vehicles were towed and impounded for seven days.

8 Taken To Hospital Following Collision

(MOUNT FOREST, ON) – On July 30, 2020 at approximately 6:30 a.m., members of Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash involving a small bus on Wellington County Road 16, east of Mount Forest.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The vehicle, which was carrying 18 people, came to rest on its side in a ditch.

Eight individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash and were taken to hospitals in Mount Forest and Palmerston for treatment. Ornge air ambulance later transported three of the eight injured parties to a Hamilton hospital for additional care.

Members of Wellington North Fire Services and Guelph-Wellington Emergency Medical Services assisted the OPP at the scene.

Wellington County Road 15 to 12 Line, which had been closed for the investigation, is now open to traffic.

135 in an 80 – GIRDLER

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On July 29, 2020 at 10:22 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a northbound grey pick-up truck for stunt driving on Grey Road 17, near Concession 20, in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

This truck was travelling over 135 kilometres per hour (km/h) in the posted 80 km/h speed limit.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged the driver, Mitchell GIRDLER, 25 years-of-age, from Georgian Bluffs, ON with stunt driving – 50km/h or more over posted speed limit, contrary to section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act.

The accused was issued a Provincial Summons, a seven day drivers licence suspension and his vehicle was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

Dog Rescued From House Fire – 23 Year Old Charged With Arson, Breach & Injury To Animal – NOTHOF

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges against a Goderich resident in connection with a house fire that occurred in Goderich last week.

At approximately 12:52 a.m. on July 24, 2020 Huron County OPP & Goderich Fire Department responded to a single dwelling house fire located on Bennett Street East. Upon arrival Goderich Fire Department was able to control the fire and ultimately get it extinguished. Police officers also rescued a large dog that was trapped in the basement of the home.

Preliminary estimates indicate the damages to the home to be around $100,000.

Members from the Huron OPP Crime Unit and OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) Unit assisted the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) with this investigation.

As a result of the investigation police have arrested and charged 23-year-old Eugen NOTHOF with the following charges:

Arson – Damage to Property

Cause damage or injury to animal – Fail to provide care or shelter

Fail to Comply with Probation Order – Two Counts

He remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 30, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Theft Of Metal Roofing

(POINT CLARK, ON) – On July 29, 2020 at 11:24 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a theft report from an address along Huron Road in Point Clark. Sometime between 10:00 p.m. on July 28, 2020 and 8:00 a.m., on July 29, 2020, a quantity of metal roofing was taken. The roofing was piled on a skid awaiting a planned installation date. The value of the stolen roofing is estimated to be $600.

24 Year Old Facing Drunk Driving Charge

(SAUGEEN TWP, ON) – On July 26, 2020 at 7:02 p.m., a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on patrol stopped a vehicle along Bruce County Road 3 in Saugeen Township. The officer found that the driver had been drinking alcohol.

Massoud ISMAIL ZADA, 22-years-old, of Guelph was charged with Impaired Driving and Operate over 80 milligrams. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on September 23, 2020 to answer to the charges.

24 Year Old Facing Drunk Driving & Hit And Run Charges – KAUFMAN

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A Drumbo man is facing some driving related charges including Impaired Operation following an investigation conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) earlier this month.

On July 11, 2020 at approximately 1:21 a.m. Huron OPP officers received a call from a Bluewater Highway homeowner that reported a suspicious person was at his doorstep requiring assistance.

Police arrived shortly thereafter and located the suspect and his damaged pickup truck. With some further investigation officers were able to determine the suspect had been involved in a crash a few kilometers away where suspect’s pickup truck collided with the guard rail.

While speaking with the driver police noted the accused had consumed some alcohol and was displaying several signs of impairment. As such the driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Operation. He was transported to the Grand Bend OPP Detachment and he provided two samples of his breath to the Intoxilizer Technician. Both of his samples were found to be above the legal limit.

Taylor KAUFMAN, 24 years of age from Drumbo has been charged with Impaired Operation, Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration Above Zero, Fail to Remain and Fail to Report Accident.

He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for November 2, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

ATV Stolen While Farmer Checks On Crops

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a recent theft of a Honda ATV that was stolen out of a bean field located on Halls Hill Line.

Police received information that on July 17, 2020 sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. the ATV was stolen after it had been left unattended with the key in the ignition.

The owner returned and he observed the suspect driving away on his machine heading east on Zion Road.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 40 years of age with a black goatee.

The stolen ATV is described as a red 2019 Honda 500 cc, 4-wheel drive ATV with a tow bar attached to the front. The ATV is valued at approximately $9,000.
