Homicide Update – Dedicated Tip Line Established

(COUNTY OF WELLINGTON, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), under the direction of Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), continue to investigate a homicide after the body of a deceased male was located in Guelph-Eramosa Township, just East of Guelph.

On August 4, 2020, at approximately 7:15 p.m., the body of Mohamed Amin ISMAIL, 25 years old of Ottawa, was discovered along the roadway of Watson Road North, just south of Wellington Road 124.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact investigators on a dedicated, toll-free tip line at 1-833-744-8477 in an effort to bring this case to a resolution.

Investigators are also asking anyone who may have taken dash camera or cellphone video footage in the area of Watson Road North and Wellington Road 124 between August 2, 2020 and August 4, 2020 to contact police.

21 Year Old Speeding Drunk Driver Charged – O’ROURKE

(PERTH SOUTH, ON) – A young driver has been charged for impaired operation after they were stopped for stunt driving in the Township of Perth South.

At approximately 8:00 p.m. on July 28 2020, a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Line 29, and stopped the vehicle just west of Road 140. It was determined that the driver was speeding in excess of 130km/h in a posted 80km/h zone.

During the course of the investigation, the officer formed the opinion that the driver had consumed alcohol. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

As a result, John O’ROURKE, 21, of West Perth, has been charged with:

Race a Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed

Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford, at a later date, to answer to the charges.

Driver Facing Impaired Driving Charge – ARNOLD

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On August 5, 2020 at 4:55 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a traffic complaint involving an erratic driver in a (grey) pick-up truck on Bruce Road 13, in Saugeen First Nation. Officers located and stopped this vehicle on Main Street in Sauble Beach, ON.

OPP officers conducted a Standard Field Sobriety Test and the driver failed. The driver was arrested for impaired driving by drug and was transported to the Chatsworth detachment. A Drug Recognition Expert completed an evaluation with this driver.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged Gavin ARNOLD, 39 years-of-age from Kincardine, ON with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada.

The involved vehicle was towed and will be impounded for 7 days.

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is required to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on October 1, 2020.

Fatal Collision – Victim’s Vehicle Found Partially Submerged

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – One person has died as a result of a single vehicle collision in Central Huron yesterday (Aug09).

The Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were contacted on August 9 2020, by concerned family members after the victim failed to return home after working late in the fields.

Just after 12:30 p.m., the victim’s vehicle was located upside down and partially submerged in a creek off the roadway on Bandon Line, in the Municipality of Central Huron. One occupant was in the vehicle at the time of the collision.

Huron Emergency Medical Services and Central Huron Fire Department also responded to the scene.

OPP officers attempted lifesaving measures, but unfortunately, the driver was confirmed deceased at the scene. He has been identified as 67 year old Clayton RILEY, of Seaforth.

Investigators from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team are assisting with the collision investigation.

Assault With Weapon In Listowel – David ERNEST Arrested

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – A North Perth resident has been charged with a serious offence after an incident in Listowel.

Just after 10:30 p.m. on July 27 2020, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an assault that had occurred on a walking trail between Queen Street East and Elizabeth Street East, in the Municipality of North Perth. The accused had confronted a group of youths that were walking on the path, and threw a glass bottle on the ground in front of them, causing a piece of glass to strike the victim. The victim attended a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The victim and the accused were not known to each other.

Police located the suspect nearby, where they were arrested for assault with a weapon.

As a result, David ERNEST, 28, of North Perth, has been charged with:

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford, at a later date, to answer to the charge.

22 Year Old Demands Ambulance Stop – Several Officers Assaulted – Nicole KINNEY Arrested

(GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On August 5, 2020 at 1:56 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a rollover motor vehicle collision involving a green side by side Off Road Vehicle (ORV) on Grey Road 4, near the West Back Line, in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

The driver was being transported to hospital for non-life threatening injuries when the person demanded that the ambulance pull over. The driver exited the ambulance and ran off into a nearby field. OPP officers located the driver, who became very agitated, resisted arrest and assaulted police officers.

The driver was transported to the Chatsworth OPP detachment and while at the detachment, the accused assaulted another police officer.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Nicole KINNEY, 22 years-of-age, from London, ON with the following charges:

Four counts of assaulting a peace officer, section 270(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

Failure or refusal to comply with demand, section 320.15(1) CC

Drive motor vehicle – no licence, section 32(1) Highway Traffic Act (HTA)

Disobey stop sign – fail to stop, section 136(1)(a) HTA

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on October 22, 2020.

Repeat Offender Amber COLEMAN Spits On Officer While Being Arrested For Theft

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid four criminal charges against a Huron County resident after an incident that took place in Clinton.

At approximately 1:51 p.m. Huron OPP officers responded to a residence on Frederick Street after the accused attempted to steal a bicycle from the home. Police learned the accused was unsuccessful at this address however the accused was successful in stealing a mountain bike at another nearby home.

Officers patrolled around the area and were able to locate the accused and the bicycle a short distance away. Upon arresting the accused the accused spat on the arresting officer.

Amber COLEMAN, 28 years of age, of no fixed address has been charged with Assault a Peace Officer, Theft Under $5,000, Mischief Under $5,000 and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 14, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Do You Recognize These People Of Interest?

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking assistance from the public to help put a name to a face in relation to a counterfeit currency investigation.

On July 23, 2020 Huron OPP attended a gas bar in Goderich to speak with the owner after two $50 Canadian bills were used to make purchases. Officers arrived and confirmed the bills were indeed counterfeit.

The person of interest was observed wearing black running shoes, dark jeans, a white V-neck t-shirt, a white hat with Canada written on it and black glasses. Upon leaving the gas bar the person of interest got into the passenger seat of a silver, 4-door hatchback.

Break And Enter In Listowel

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – Thieves stole a leaf blower after a break and enter to a shed in the Municipality of North Perth.

The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating after unknown suspects broke into a locked shed at a residence on Lincoln Court, North Perth, sometime overnight on July 25 2020. Entry was made to the shed by cutting and removing the lock.

The stolen leaf blower is described as a black and orange 2020 Stihl leaf blower, valued at approximately $250.

Howick Resident Gives Scammer $50,000 In Bitcoin

(HURON COUNTY, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is sending out a scam warning to residents after police investigated a recent scam that victimized a Howick resident for over $50,000.

The scammer in this case called the victim to inform him that his Social Insurance Number had been compromised. The scammer identified himself as a Private Investigator” and assured the victim he could rectify the matter. He advised he could secure his account from further fraudulent transactions if he transferred funds to him.

The victim followed the scammer’s instructions and proceeded to send multiple Bitcoin transactions to the scammer totalling a sum of over $50

Copper Wire Stolen

(PERTH EAST, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are looking for suspects after a break and enter in Milverton.

Sometime between July 22 2020 and July 23 2020, unknown suspects broke into an outbuilding at a commercial business on Mill Street West, in the Township of Perth East. Suspects gained entry to the building by cutting a hole in the metal exterior wall, and stole approximately $1200 worth of copper wire.

This is not the first time that this business has experienced a break and enter. Numerous times over the last few years, suspects have broken into the building in a similar way. The public is reminded to report any suspicious activity immediately, and consider installing security features, such as increased lighting, cameras, or alarms.

Shots Fired In Mitchell

(WEST PERTH, ON) – Two suspects were involved in a recent incident of mischief in the Municipality of West Perth.

Just before 1:30 a.m. on July 23 2020, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle driving on Montreal Street, Mitchell. The white van had two occupants, and the male passenger was shooting what appeared to be a pellet gun out of the passenger side window, towards houses and vehicles.

The vehicle was last seen travelling northbound on St. David Street, Mitchell, and the male driver is described as having a beard.

There were no injuries or damage reported as a result of this incident.

Rims & Tires Stolen From Pickup Truck

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – Thieves have stolen a set of tires and rims from the box of a pick-up truck that was parked at a business in the Municipality of North Perth.

Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a theft on July 22 2020, which had occurred in the early morning hours at a business on Fairlane Road, in the Municipality of North Perth.

The stolen items are described as 17 Rockstar rims with 33″ Cooper tires

17 Year Old Pedestrian Hit By Truck In Listowel – Josh SANBURN Charged

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person suffered non-life threatening injuries after a collision involving a pick-up truck and a pedestrian in the Municipality of North Perth.

Just before 8:30 a.m. on July 24 2020, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Perth County Paramedic Services and the North Perth Fire Department responded to a 17-year-old pedestrian who had been struck on Main Street, at the intersection of Wallace Avenue North, in Listowel. The pedestrian had been crossing westbound, when the truck turned northbound, and caused the collision.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the pick-up truck was not injured.

The driver of the truck, Josh SANBURN, 30, of Brussels, has been charged with:

The accused was issued a Provincial Offences Notice for the offence.

Suspected Overdose Death In Exeter

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Shortly before 7:00 p.m. on Sunday August 2, 2020, Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Huron County Paramedic Services responded to a residence located on Main Street South in Exeter to assist a male found with vital signs absent.

First responders immediately provided first aid at the scene and quickly transported the victim to a nearby hospital.

The victim, a 41-year-old male later died in hospital.

A post-mortem examination was completed earlier this week. Investigators are still awaiting the results of toxicology tests to help determine the cause of death however it is being treated as a suspected drug overdose death.

If you suspect someone is overdosing or is in need of medical attention, immediately call 9-1-1 and stay with the victim. It is extremely important to know what someone has ingested, not only for the safety of everyone responding, but to assist in determining the potential cause of death.

Please remember the OPP supports Canada’s Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act that provides protection from charges for individuals at the scene of a drug overdose for simple drug possession.
