Drunk Driver Flips Vehicle Near Benmiller

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – An early morning crash investigation near Benmiller last week has resulted in an Over 80 charge for a Hamilton resident.

On Friday, August 14, 2020 at approximately 9:26 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Huron County Paramedic Services responded to single motor vehicle crash located on Londesboro Road east of Benmiller.

Upon arrival officers located an overturned vehicle in the southbound ditch. Upon speaking with the driver police noted the driver had been drinking alcohol so a roadside screening test was conducted. The driver completed the test and his test resulted in a fail. The driver was promptly placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two breath samples were provided to the Intoxilizer Technician and both samples were analyzed to be over the legal limit.

Devin MADDEN, 27 years of age, from Hamilton has been charged with Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 5, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

22 Year Old Facing Drunk Driving Charge

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On August 16, 2020 at 8:27 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint involving a possible impaired driver on Mccurdy Drive in the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula.

Police attended and located this vehicle. There was open alcohol in this vehicle. The driver was displaying signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and was transported to the Grey Bruce OPP detachment in Wiarton. A breath test was conducted by a qualified Intoxilyzer operator at the detachment.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Alan MUTTATHUKUNNEL-JOSEPH, 22 years-of-age, from Brampton, ON with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada and having care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available, section 32(1) Liquor Licence Act.

The accused’s vehicle was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is required to attend Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on October 29, 2020.

25 Year Old Facing Drunk Driving Charge – VERONNEAU

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On August 14, 2020 at 1:23 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint involving a suspicious vehicle on Pike Bay Road, in the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula.

Police patrolled the area, located and stopped this vehicle. The driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and was transported to the Grey Bruce OPP detachment in Wiarton. A breath test, conducted by a qualified Intoxilyzer operator at the detachment, recorded readings nearly twice the legal limit (80 mgs of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Marc VERONNEAU, 25 years-of-age, from La Presentation, QC with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CC) and operation while impaired with blood alcohol concentration 80 mgs or more, section 320.14(1)(b) CC.

The accused’s driver’s licence is suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is required to attend Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on October 22, 2020.

More Stunt Drivers Charged

Between Friday, August 14th and Sunday, August 17th, 2020, Grey Bruce OPP charged the following seven motorists with stunt driving – 50km/h or more over the posted speed limit, contrary to section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act (HTA) on Highway 6 on the Bruce Peninsula.

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON)

August 14th – 08:25 a.m. – Grey Bruce OPP stopped a white car on Highway 6, near Limberlost Road, in South Bruce Peninsula that was travelling over 130 kilometres per hour (km/h) in this posted 80 km/h speed limit. The driver was Patrick DASILVA, 29 years-of-age, from Etobicoke, ON.

August 15th – 2:15 p.m. – Grey Bruce OPP stopped a white sport utility vehicle (suv) on Highway 6, near Limberlost Road, in South Bruce Peninsula that was travelling over 155 km/h in this posted 80 km/h speed limit. The driver was Eduardo ZAMORA, 59 years-of-age, from Brampton, ON.

August 15th – 3:01 p.m. – Grey Bruce OPP stopped a black car on Highway 6, near Limberlost Road, in South Bruce Peninsula that was travelling over 130 km/h in this posted 80 km/h speed limit. The driver was Amanjot BHABRA, 22 years-of-age, from Brampton, ON.

August 17th – 1:11 p.m. – Grey Bruce OPP stopped a red SUV on Highway 6, near Red Bay Road, South Bruce Peninsula that was travelling more than 145 km/h in this posted 80 km/h speed limit. The driver was Roy STAGAT, 56 years-of-age, from Kitchener, ON.

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON)

August 15th – 09:36 a.m. – Grey Bruce OPP stopped a grey car on Highway 6, near Ferndale, in Northern Bruce Peninsula that was travelling over 115 km/h in this posted 60 km/h speed limit. The driver was Shamoie HANSON, 20 years-of-age, from Mississauga, ON.

August 15th – 10:48 a.m. – Grey Bruce OPP stopped a black car on Highway 6, near Little Pike Bay Road, in Northern Bruce Peninsula that was travelling over 135 km/h in this posted 80 km/h speed limit. The driver was Mohammadali PANAHIAN, 21 years-of-age, from Markham, ON.

August 15th – 4:25 p.m. – Grey Bruce OPP stopped a grey suv on Highway 6, near Pike Bay Road, in Northern Bruce Peninsula that was travelling over 140 km/h in this posted 80 km/h speed limit. The driver was Natasha CHUNG, 32 years-of-age, from Waterloo, ON.

All of these drivers were issued a provincial summons to attend court, a seven day drivers licence suspension and their vehicles were towed and impounded for seven days.

Grey Bruce OPP are asking the public to report unsafe driving, including excessive speeding and aggressive driving.

Fatal Collision

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On August 16, 2020, at approximately 4:00 a.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded along with Centre Wellington Fire and Rescue and Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services to a single motor vehicle collision on Wellington Road 7 near Wellington Road 18 in the Township of Centre Wellington.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2006 sedan was travelling southbound on Wellington Road 7 when it left the roadway, entered the ditch and collided with a tree. The 20-year-old male driver from Kitchener was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The name is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

The cause of the collision is currently being investigated by Wellington County OPP and OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI). The roadway was closed and has since reopened.

Driver Arrested After Several Collisions – WEY

(GODERICH, ON) – A crash investigation conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) over the weekend has led to charges against a Kitchener resident.

On Saturday, August 15, 2020 at approximately 11:20 p.m. Huron OPP officers responded to a Bayfield Road business to investigate a crash that had occurred in the parking lot. Upon arrival officers spoke with a heavily intoxicated male that turned out to be the vehicle driver. Investigators determined the driver had collided with another vehicle while parking his vehicle. As well, it was learned he collided with two curbs and a bridge before he got to the parking lot.

The driver was arrested for Impaired Operation and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Upon arrival at the Clinton Detachment the driver refused to provide samples of his breath to the Intoxilizer Technician.

Jeff WEY, 59 years of age, from Kitchener has been charged with Refuse to Comply with Demand, Dangerous Operation and several other Highway Traffic Act offences. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for October 26, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Impaired Driver Rolls Vehicle – PLANTZ

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – A 55-year-old from Kitchener will have to make a return trip to Huron County for a court appearance following an investigation conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

On August 9, 2020 at approximately 7:34 p.m. Huron OPP, South Bruce OPP, Lucknow Fire Department and Huron County Paramedic Services responded to a single motor vehicle crash located on Bluewater Highway near Huron Shores Road.

The subsequent investigation revealed the driver lost control of her vehicle and it rolled. The driver escaped serious injuries however it was noted by officers that the driver was displaying signs of impairment by way of a drug.

The driver ultimately performed poorly on the tests conducted by the Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) and was arrested for Impaired Operation. Janine PLANTZ, 55 years of age, from Kitchener has been charged with Impaired Operation. She has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 19, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Repeat Offender Arrested In Listowel Methamphetamine Bust – DOLMAGE

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person has been charged with a drug offence after they were pulled over in the Municipality of North Perth last week.

Just after 2:30 a.m. on August 12 2020, a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer conducted a traffic stop on Elizabeth Street West, in Listowel, after the driver was observed breaching conditions of their release.

During the investigation, the driver of the vehicle was found to be in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine, and other drug trafficking paraphernalia.

As a result, Tracy Lynn DOLMAGE, 40, of North Perth, has been charged with:

Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking

Failure to Comply with Undertaking (three counts)

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Tree Vs Drunk Driver – EDWARDS Arrested

(WEST PERTH, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged for impaired driving after their vehicle collided with a tree and fence in the Municipality of West Perth.

Just before 6:00 a.m. on August 09 2020, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of the collision that occurred on Perth Road 180, in the Municipality of West Perth. The driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, was not injured.

During the course of the investigation, the investigating officer formed the opinion that the driver had consumed alcohol. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

As a result, Trevor Ralph EDWARDS, 50, of Kirkton, has been charged with:

Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford, at a later date, to answer to the charge. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated, as per statute.

Fergus Drug Bust

(FERGUS, ON) – Members of the OPP Wellington County Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) conducted a drug investigation into multiple non-fatal opioid overdoses, which culminated with the execution of a search warrant on August 3, 2020, at a residence on Gowrie Street in Fergus.

As a result of the investigation, Natasha PAGE, 32 years old of Fergus, has been charged with:

ยท Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (2 counts).

The accused has been remanded in custody and will appear in court at a later date.

Fatal Collision Update – Deceased Identified

(ARRAN TWP, ON) – On August 11, 2020 at 7:32 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a 2 vehicle collision at the intersection of Bruce County Road 10 and Concession 6 in Arran Township. Officers attended with members of the Tara Fire Department and Bruce County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to find a transport truck and a passenger vehicle involved in the crash.

The passenger of the vehicle, Preeti PHATAK, 27-years-old, of Scarborough, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation into this collision is continuing. Further updates will be provided as they become available.

Impaired Driver Facing Flight From Police Charge – COLLEY

(WEST PERTH, ON) – A West Perth driver is facing charges after fleeing a RIDE program.

Just before 9:30 p.m. on August 08 2020, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program on Line 32, in the Municipality of West Perth, when a driver was directed to pull to the shoulder for further investigation. Officers suspected that the driver was impaired. The vehicle then fled the scene.

Police were able to follow the vehicle, and when it entered a rural property, officers placed the driver under arrest for impaired driving and flight from police. The driver was brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

As a result, Jason James COLLEY, 42, of West Perth, has been charged with:

Methamphetamine Bust – HILLYER

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On August 11, 2020 at 7:29 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a report of suspicious vehicle parked at the end of Girl Guide Road in the Township of Georgian Bluffs. Officers attended and located two people inside the vehicle.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged David HILLYER, 39 years-of-age, from Georgian Bluffs, ON with possession of a schedule 1 substance – Methamphetamine, section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.

The accused was held for a bail hearing in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on August 11, 2020.

Drug Bust In Fergus – RAMSAY, ARTHURS & ROCHON

(FERGUS, ON) – On August 12, 2020 at 10 a.m., members of the Wellington County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Wellington County OPP Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) executed a search warrant at a residence in Fergus in relation to a drug investigation.

Three individuals have been charged with drug offences as a result of the investigation:

Cristy RAMSAY, 33-years-old of Fergus, is charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (3 counts). The accused remains in custody and will appear in court at a later date.

Natalie ARTHURS, 25-years-old of Guelph, is charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance (3 counts). The accused has been released from custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on October 13, 2020.

Kyle ROCHON, 31-years-old of Elmira, is charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance (3 counts). The accused has been released from custody and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on October 13, 2020.

As a result of the execution of the search warrant, investigators seized a quantity of fentanyl, heroin and methamphetamine.

23 Year Old Succumbs To Injuries Following Collision

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – On August 12, 2020, at approximately 9:52 p.m., members of Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Middlesex County responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Gainsborough Road, between Franks Lane and Vanneck Road.

Upon arrival, police located a male in the vehicle with life-threatening injuries. The victim was extricated from the vehicle, but succumbed to his injuries. The coroner pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The deceased is identified as Cole BUDD, 23-years-old, of London, Ontario. The victim was transported to a London hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Gainsborough Road was reopened to traffic at approximately 2:30 this morning, after OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) completed their investigation at the scene.
