Ryan DODGE – 130 in an 80

(BRUCE TWP, ON) – On June 12, 2021 at 3:27 p.m., a member of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) noticed a vehicle on Highway 21 in Bruce Township moving at a high rate of speed. The vehicle’s speed was displayed on radar at more than 130 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

Ryan DODGE, 25-years-old, of Waterloo was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle.

This charge includes an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment and an immediate 7-day driver’s license suspension.

Pride Flags & Signage Stolen

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment is investigating a theft of a Pride flag and Pride signage from two separate addresses in Dunnville.

OPP investigation has determined between Saturday 19, 2021 at 10:30 p.m. and Sunday June 20, 2021 at 7:45 p.m., unknown(s) took down a Pride flag from a local high school and also removed Pride signs from a residence.

OPP continue to investigate and is asking anyone who may have noticed any suspicious persons or vehicles, or who may have any information regarding this incident to contact them at 1- 888 – 310 – 1122.

Shelley Katherine PERRY – Drunk Driving

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On June 20, 2021, at approximately 2:40 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a possible impaired driver in the parking lot of Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus.

Officers located the vehicle and while speaking with the driver, signs of impairment were detected and they were placed under arrest.

As a result, Shelley Katherine PERRY, 32-years-old of Arthur has been charged with Operation While Impaired – 80 Plus contrary to the Criminal Code. 

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on July 23, 2021 to answer to the charge.

Playground Equipment Stolen From Mildmay

(MILDMAY, ON) – On June 11, 2021 at 10:01 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report on the theft of playground equipment that was stored on a property along Vincent Street in the town of Mildmay.

The large Red, Gray and Blue units weigh approximately 500 pounds each. The value of the stolen items is estimated to be $2,500.

Peter VANDERPAS – Impaired Driving

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – On June 11, 2021, at approximately 12:15 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a possible impaired driver on Main Street in the Town of Erin.

Police located the vehicle at a nearby residence. While speaking with the driver it was determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired and they were placed under arrest.

As a result, Peter VANDERPAS, 58-years-old of Erin has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs, Operation While Impaired – 80 Plus and Operation While Prohibited contrary to the Criminal Code. 

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on July 16, 2021 to answer to the charges.

Delainey FARRELL – Impaired Driving

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) – On June 13, 2021, at approximately 6:20 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received several reports of an erratic driver travelling eastbound on Wellington Road 51 in Guelph-Eramosa Township.

Police located the vehicle on Wellington Road 7 and conducted a traffic stop. While speaking with the driver it was determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired and they were placed under arrest.

As a result, Delainey FARRELL, 63-years-old of Elora has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs contrary to the Criminal Code. 

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on July 13, 2021 to answer to the charge.

Trista FORBES Arrested Following Collision

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) – On June 8, 2021, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Wellington Road 124 east of Wellington Road 29. Officers arrived and determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, Trista FORBES, 35-years-old of Brampton has been charged with Operation While Impaired and Failure or Refuse to Comply with Breath Demand contrary to the Criminal Code. 

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on July 7, 2021.

Fatal Ditch Mowing Incident – Name Of Deceased Released

(TOWN OF MAPLETON) – On June 20, 2021, at approximately 6:15 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with Mapleton Fire/Rescue and Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services responded to a serious single vehicle rollover on the Fourteenth Line in the Town of Mapleton.

Investigation revealed that the operator of the tractor was cutting the grass in the ditch along the roadway when it rolled down the steep embankment and pinned them underneath. The operator, Gordon THRING, 77-years-old of Alma was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Members of the Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team (TIME) assisted Wellington officers with the collision investigation.

A section of the Fourteenth Line was closed for the investigation and has since reopened.

Charlotte HALDANE Arrested Again

(WEST PERTH, ON) – On June 16, 2021, just after 1:00 a.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was on patrol in the Municipality of West Perth when they observed activity in an apartment on Wellington Street in Mitchell. Police had previously been notified that the residence was supposed to be vacant. 

Police initiated an investigation, and as a result, Charlotte HALDANE, a 35-year old was arrested and charged with:

–       Unlawfully in a Dwelling House

–       Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

Joseph LAFOND – Drunk Driving

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On June 18, 2021 at 6:58 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle collision along Harbour Street in Kincardine. Officers arrived and found that the driver had been drinking alcohol.

Joseph LAFOND, 44-years-old, of Huron Township, was charged with Operate over 80 milligrams. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on August 25, 2021 to answer to the charge.

There were no injuries reported at the scene.

Another Break And Enter – Suspect(s) At Large

(PERTH EAST, ON) – Police are looking for suspects after a break, enter, and mischief at a vacant home on Perth Line 34 in the Township of Perth East.

The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was contacted on June 15, 2021, shortly after 1:30 p.m., after a residential break in sometime between Saturday June 12, 2021 and Monday June 14, 2021. There was nothing stolen as a result of the break and enter, however, the interior of the residence was damaged.

The Perth County OPP would like to remind the public to report any suspicious activity to police immediately, and consider installing security features, such as increased lighting, cameras, or alarms. Citizens are asked to ensure vehicles, sheds, garages and doors are locked to assist in the prevention of some crimes.

Theft From Construction Site

(WEST PERTH, ON) – On June 12, 2021, just before 7:00 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break, enter and theft at a residence on Perth Road 180, in the Municipality of West Perth. 

Unknown person(s) entered the residence, currently under construction, and removed a saw and radio from the site.

The Perth County OPP would like to remind the public to report any suspicious activity to police immediately, and consider installing security features, such as increased lighting, cameras, or alarms. Citizens are asked to ensure vehicles, sheds, garages and doors are locked to assist in the prevention of some crimes.

Michael RICCI – Impaired Driving

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) On June 7, 2021 at approximately 10:30 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to traffic complaint concerning a possible impaired driver on Highway 6-10, in the Township of Georgian Bluffs. 

The driver was arrested and transported to the Grey Bruce OPP detachment, where further tests were administered.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged Michael RICCI, 40 years-of-age, from Durham, ON with Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol and drugs, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)

The accused must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on July 8, 2021.

(CHATSWORTH, ON) On June 11, 2021 at approximately 7:30 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 10, in the Township of Chatsworth.

Grey Bruce OPP stopped the vehicle after it was found to be travelling at over 130 kilometres per hour (km/h) in a posted 80 km/h speed limit zone.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged Joseph AUREUS, 24-years-old of Brampton, ONwith Stunt Driving – 50km/h or more over the posted speed limit, contrary to Section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The accused was issued a provincial summons to attend court, along with a seven-day driver’s licence suspension. The individual’s vehicle was towed and will be impounded for seven days.
