STPS Daily Update 23Sept2025

A 29 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged after we were called to investigate the report of an assault. On Monday afternoon, police were called by the victim who wished to report they had been assaulted at a location downtown. Through investigation, it was learned the accused, who is currently on release conditions to not communicate with the victim, had struck them with a guitar causing minor injury. CCTV of the incident was reviewed by police and has resulted in the 29 year old being charged with two counts of Failure to Comply with Probation Order and Assault with a Weapon. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST25017336

Suspicious Device Located

On Monday, police were called to a park on the northside of the city after an employee had located a suspicious device that had been attached to a fence. Officers attended the park and collected the item. Through investigation, officers identified the owner of the item and learned it was a transmitter that was placed in the park as a way to test its range. The device was returned to its owner. Warrant Arrest

A 20 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Monday, while dealing with the individual on an unrelated call for service, officers were made aware of an outstanding warrant for Theft under $5,000 stemming from an incident in May. The 20 year old was processed and released on an appearance notice to attend court. ST25017330

Bail Violations

A 40 year old St. Thomas resident has been charged with Breach of Probation Order after failing to attend their court ordered probation program. A warrant for arrest has been requested. ST25017328

Theft

A e-bike stolen from an address on Ross Street has been recovered and a 42 year old St. Thomas resident has been arrested. On Monday, the owner of the bike contacted police after it had been stolen from their place of employment. CCTV of the incident was reviewed by police who identified the person responsible. The e-bike was recovered and returned and the 42 year old St. Thomas resident was charged with Theft under $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date. ST25017299

Energy drinks and charging cables have been reported stolen from a downtown convenience store. Early this morning, police were called to the store to investigate the report of two unknown youth stealing the items. This remains under investigation. ST25017355

Food Fraud 

On Monday evening, we attended a restaurant on Talbot Street to investigate the report of an individual failing to pay their bill. CCTV of the incident was captured and reviewed by police.
