Steven FRENCH Was Arrested

(DRYDEN, ON) – A number of charges have been laid against a local resident after they failed to stop for police in Dryden after reports of an aggressive driver on the ice road. 

On April 4, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m. members of the Dryden OPP Detachment observed the suspect driver on Van Horne Avenue in the City of Dryden. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop; however, the vehicle failed to stop. Officers followed the driver for a short distance but were forced to disengage when the situation became too dangerous for other road users.

As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the driver was impaired.

The driver, Steven FRENCH 41-years-old, of Dryden, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act with the following:

·         Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·         Dangerous operation – two counts

·         Flight from peace officer – two counts

·         Fail to yield from private road

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden May 5, 2025.
