Raymond RICHIER – Drunk Driving

(MARKSTAY-WARREN, ON) – A prohibited driver was charged with refusal to comply with demand after a traffic stop.

On April 27, 2024, shortly before 7:30 p.m., members from the Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop with a possible impaired driver on Highway 17, Markstay-Warren.

The driver was read a demand for an approved screening device and refused. As a result, the driver was arrested for refusal to comply with demand and transported to the OPP detachment for processing.

The driver was found to be, both a suspend and prohibited driver.

As a result of the investigation, Raymond RICHIER, 60 years-of-age, from Kingston, was charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

The accused was held for Bail Court and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on April 30, 2024, in Sudbury.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
