Backhoe Used In Assault

(SELWYN TOWNSHIP, ON)- The Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested an individual after attending a Selwyn address in relation to a property dispute.

On Saturday August 30, 2025, at approximately 11:00am, members of the OPP Peterborough County Detachment were dispatched to a call where the complainant indicated an individual was operating a backhoe on their property without permission. Upon arrival, officers were informed that two individuals had been struck by the backhoe during the incident. 

After speaking with all parties involved, one individual was arrested.

David BAKER (age 59) of Selwyn, ON., was arrested and charged with:

• Assault with a weapon

• Dangerous operation

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on October 7, 2025.
